A blast ripped apart a public park in Pakistan’s eastern city of Lahore, the capital of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s political heartland of Punjab, rescue officials said.
The deafening explosion — apparently caused by a suicide bomber — hit gate no.1 around 6:30 pm when the park was teeming with families, specially women and children, dazed witnesses said.
“At least 10 people have been killed in a blast outside Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park,” Jam Sajjad Hussain, spokesman for Rescue 112 said, adding that more than 30 people were injured and had been taken to various hospitals in the city. Most of the injured are women and children, Hussain said.
Senior police officer Haider Ashraf said the explosion took place Sunday in the parking area of Gulshan-e-Iqbal park. He says the explosion appeared to have been a suicide bombing, but investigations were ongoing.
He says the area was crowded because Christians are celebrating the Easter holiday and many families were leaving the park when the blast occurred. He says the death toll could still rise as many of the wounded were in a critical condition. In fact, Pakistani newspaper Dawn tweeted that the death toll was at least 53. Emergency has been declared at all government hospitals in Lahore, the paper said.
ARY News said five to six kg of explosives may have been used in the explosion, which was heard in a large part of Lahore, capital of Punjab province.
Some reports said the bomb might have been fixed on a parked motorbike….

Why? The reason is obvious. No one in western schools are being taught the truth about Islam – that it is a murderous, barbaric, supremacist, totalitarian ideology.

Pakistan is a failed experiment that is a rogue state carrying nuclear war heads and propped up by for decades through money and weapons by rogue regimes in the west and the Chinese just to suppress India.
Chinese are facing xinjiang and will face a lot more. US too is facing serious islam problems but still choose to continue in their path foolishly and almost seem suicidal and continue to treat the Pakistani dogs strapped with nuclear explosives as their pets that can go off and blow these countries at any time.

Communist countries have lower standards of living than capitalist countries and were quite oppressive to their people, I agree. But wouldn’t you agree that it would be better to at least be civilized under communism than living in a 7th century Sharia law stasis? At least in the USSR, women could walk around wearing pants if they wanted too, they had space programs, science, etc. I don’t hate Reagan, but if he didn’t help out the forerunners to the Taliban, Al Qaeda wouldn’t have safe haven, especially under an oppressive Communist state. Without Al Qaeda, there wouldn’t be an ISIS. Reagan had over 1,300 years of history, a “holy” book, and the hadiths to do background checks on just who he’s arming. Maybe if the USSR fell, they could’ve become clean capitalist countries, but this last sentence is just conjecture.
I really hate to say this about Reagan, but objectively, his legacy doesn’t just keep the Middle East in the dark ages, it also effects the whole world, including the west, in a tragic manner.

I disagree with you, Arceliaus, on two points:
1) On the oppressiveness of the entire legacy of Communism. Joseph Stalin alone had some 50-60 million people killed. Reagan also functioned in a time when the Cold War was in a crucial stage and he saw an opportunity to kill off the USSR sooner rather than later. As Alexander Bessmertnykh, Gorbachev’s Foreign Minister said, “Ronald Reagan’s defense spending and Strategic Defense Initiative accelerated the demise of the Soviet Union.” Many Estonians, Latvians, Lithuanians, Poles, Czechs, et al. to this day are grateful for what Reagan did.
2) You put way too much emphasis on the limited help that the US gave to Afghan fighters taking on the Soviet military. What, but for this worldwide Islamic terrorist organizations would hardly exist? C’mon. The Muslim Brotherhood was founded in 1928. The PLO in 1964. Then there is Hamas, Hezbollah, Boko Haram, MILF in The Philippines, and on and on. Islam was due to revive its terrorist and territorial goals irrespective of what happened in Afghanistan once modern western technology made its way into certain Muslim lands and produced wealth in some of these lands which in turn has greatly funded Islamic terrorism worldwide. Can any blame be put on Reagan here? Perhaps, but I think it pretty insignificant when looking at the bigger picture.. Islam was due for one great last gasp irrespective of what Reagan did in Afghanistan. Might as well blame America for aiding the Soviet Union during WWII to insure the defeat of Hitler as something which aided the survival of Communism. You fight the fight du jour. For Reagan, this was the monumental tyranny which was Communism and he did a great job here.

For instance, somewhere between 60 and 75% of Americans continue to believe that JFK was killed by a conspiracy, which is loon material, and upwards of 50% of Americans don’t accept evolution, even though the evidence for evolution, which Pope John Paul II to his credit said is “more than just a hypothesis,” is massive. No, I’m not going to blame Reagan hardly at all, if at all, for worldwide Islamic terrorism today. Here I blame Islam itself and the current woeful element who make up the Western elites.

Back in the 1980s I–and probably many people here–was vaguely concerned about airplane hijackings and suicide bombings in Israel. I was deeply disturbed by what had happened in Iran with the Islamic Revolution and the Hostage Crisis and the ongoing oppression there–but this seemed like an isolated anomaly at the time.
I didn’t much connect these concerns to Islam itself–it was more “Middle Eastern terrorism”. I knew Islam had a violent history–but I don’t think I understood that it was much worse than that of many other groups. I had never read the Qur’an, and doubt I had even heard of the Hadith or Sira.
My main concern, like that of many other Westerners, was the Soviet Union, though it was clearly much less of a threat than it had been in previous decades. As for looming danger, I thought it would be worth keeping an eye on China.
While I never considered them a threat–more of an economic rivalry–there were probably more Americans disturbed by Japan than by Islam.
Did I think that just a couple of decades later that Islam would present an existential threat to our lives and freedoms? I freely admit that I did not. But then, almost no one else did, either.
There is no shame in this. After all, how many people anticipated the threat of Fascism way back in 1910?
The thing is to recognize a threat once it arises, not to fret over not having been psychic about anticipating its rise.
The problem is not that few Westerners understood the looming threat of Islam in 1980, but that all too many refuse to recognize it *today*.

Some media quoting 73 deaths now. The disingenuous BBC in their first report said “some killed were Christians” as if an Easter day attack could be focused on any other group. Now that the terrorist have released a statement saying they targeted Christians, the BBC are saying “Police are investigating the claim”. Bottom line is minimize the damage to muslim sensitivities.

The United States actually has a fairly low crime rate–ranked 121st in terms of violent crime per 10,000 citizens. Her crime rate often looks higher because she is the third most-heavily populated country in the world–but whole numbers do not tell the story–numbers per capita do.
As for empathy, the United States is actually the most charitable country in the world–and this is true not just in whole numbers but per capita, as well.

Firstly, the Taliban in their communique themselves claimed that they were targeting Christians celebrating Easter.
Then, the claim that the Taliban targets Muslims specifically who were born in Pakistan is simply incorrect.
The Taliban does target Muslims at times–other sect Shia whom they regard as heretics, and those who they deem “insufficiently Islamic”–but having been born in Pakistan is not among their reasons.
In fact, while many of the Taliban are Afghans, many of them are Pakistani themselves.

That’s because they ‘take Infidels as their friends’–in other words, they are insufficiently Islamic. This has nothing to do with having been born in Pakistan.

Hi All,
The target of this attack was Christians. There is an ever increasing lack of sympathy for a religion whose leader called his followers to love their enemies. However I understand the founder of ISlam himself beheaded 800. Over 800 surrendered men and boys (and at least one woman) from the Qurayza tribe were beheaded by the prophet of Islam in a bloodbath that is of acute embarrassment to today’s Muslim apologists. It is an episode that is not only completely at odds with the idea that Islam is a peaceful religion, but also the claim that it is the heir to Christianity, since even that religion’s most dedicated critics could hardly imagine Jesus and his disciples doing such a thing.
We as Christians should love our Muslim brothers and sisters and at the same time condemn these attacks. Based on what has transpired so far, it seems that Christians have no representation in the UN.
The prophecies of Christ about persecution coming are now upon us and we must stand firm in our faith to the end. Pray for the families in Pakistan and the remaining Christians remain strong. Pray that the Christians in the US get strong. If we were athletes could US Christians even do a sit-up? There will not be a political solution. We must prepare to stand for Christ until death!

As well as praying for the Christians in Pakistan one can go to the Barnabas Fund website, and/ or the British Pakistani Christian Association website, and make donations which WILL reach the suffering families and congregations affected by this – and other – attacks. It is easier for them to persevere when they receive both material and physical assistance from their less-pressured brethren elsewhere; such assistance incarnates the love of God. What more appropriate time than at Easter-tide, to give lovingly to assist our suffering brothers and sisters.
Also one can join the BPCA and Barnabas campaigns to lobby our various governments – British, American, Australian, Canadian, etc – to press them to use all possible leverage – e.g. ‘aid’ – on Pakistan, to DEMAND better treatment for minorities. Barnabas produce many useful information booklets about Islam that can be given to politicians and church leaders so that they have NO excuse for persisting in wilful Dhimmi-like denial and ignorance.
