Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Robert Spencer in PJ Media: ‘We’re All Muslims Deep Down,’ Says … Boston Police Commissioner

Mar 1, 2016 2:44 pm By Robert Spencer

In PJ Media today I discuss how the Boston Police Commissioner has taken pandering to diazzying new heights. Also, don’t miss Hugh Fitzgerald’s take, here.

william-b.-evans

Politicians insisting that the latest Islamic jihad attack has nothing to do with Islam have become a familiar feature of the mainstream media landscape, but last Saturday, Boston Police Commissioner William B. Evans went them all one better.

Speaking at the Islamic Society of Boston Cultural Center, Evans declared:

We’re all Muslims deep down. We all yearn for peace.

Evans thus went farther than Barack Obama, John Kerry, David Cameron, and all the other Western politicians who insist that Islam is a religion of peace. For Evans, Islam is not just a religion of peace, but the religion of peace: to be a Jew, a Christian, a Hindu, a Buddhist, or an atheist would not make one yearn for peace.

This is taking pandering to dizzying new heights, and that wasn’t all: this wasn’t the police commissioner’s first visit to the Islamic Society of Boston. He went there last December — right after two Muslims murdered fourteen people at a Christmas party in San Bernardino. He made that visit in order to make sure that the local Muslims weren’t jittery after that attack:

I don’t think we can tolerate bigotry toward the Muslim population. They’re an important part of our city. I just want to reassure them that we’re here for them.

Muslims acting avowedly in the name of Islam and jihad committed mass murder of non-Muslims, and in the wake of that attack, the Boston police commissioner took it upon himself to reassure … Muslims. However he went about doing this reassuring, it is certain that he never asked members of the Islamic Society of Boston why so many Muslims don’t yearn for peace at all, but seem instead to relish war.

Nor is he likely to have asked Islamic Society of Boston members what they were doing about that, and why they had no program designed to teach young Muslims why they should reject the understanding of Islam held by the Islamic State, al-Qaeda, and other jihad groups.

And there is clear need for such a program at the Islamic Society of Boston. Worshippers there have included:

— The Boston Marathon jihad murderers, Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev

— Aafia Siddiqui, who is serving an 86-year sentence for trying to kill American soldiers

— Tarek Mehanna, who is serving seventeen years for aiding al-Qaeda

— Ahmad Abousamra, who before he was killed in an American airstrike was thought to be a principal architect of the Islamic State’s social media presence

— The Islamic Society of Boston’s founder, Abdurrahman Alamoudi, was once a major player in Washington and the nation’s most prominent moderate Muslim. Now he is serving a twenty-three year sentence for charges including fundraising for al-Qaeda.

ISB leaders insist, of course, that the Islam they teach there is as peaceful and benign as William Evans imagines it to be, and that the Tsarnaevs and Siddiqui and Mehanna and Abousamra misunderstood these soft and cuddly teachings and fell victim to “extremists” who “radicalized” them on the Internet.

Were Evans to have the wit, unwillingness to be fooled, and investigative persistence that should be required to get the job of Boston police commissioner, he might ask his friends at the ISB to explain why the true, peaceful Islam they supposedly teach there couldn’t withstand a challenge from the twisted, hijacked violent Islam that allegedly snares Muslims left and right as soon as they open their browser.

Instead, he told them that we are all Muslims deep down. To that, his Muslim audience must have happily agreed, since a hadith depicts Muhammad saying:

Every child is born on Islam, but his parents make him a Jew and a Christian, just as a beast is born whole (Sunan Abu Dawud 4714).

This belief that all people are born Muslim leads to the common practice of referring to converts to Islam as “reverts”: they are not adopting a new religion, but simply returning to their true and original religion….

I am a Canadian and I am outraged about the Boston marathon. Why isn’t he?

Too much has happened for people to be saying that Islam is a religion of peace. Why are the imans allowed to say what they want about Jews and Christians and beating your wife and worse and we cannot say anything about Muslims?

The world has gone mad. It defies reason.

If Commissioner Evans is try to outwit the Muslims by befriending them and pandering to them, I would remind him that Mohammed and his followers were MASTERS of the technique of pandering…and so are most of the Islamic Society of Boston notables.

He is pandering with MASTER PANDERERS at the Islamic Society of Boston who won’t trust any kafir uttering flattery or not.

Al Walaa wal Baraa is the doctrine of Islamic apartheid. Members of the Islamic Society of Boston know they must not be friends with a dirty kafir.

Muslims will play the ‘game’ better than Commissioner Evans.

Appeasing Muslims will be as ineffective as appeasing Hilter was for the same reason. Both Hitler and Muslims view appeasement as a sign of weakness. We must not give an inch to Islamic fanatics. Support freedom of speech!

I know, right? I mean, I don’t imagine a Commissioner has to patrol the streets, chase thieves or go hand-to-hand with a perp, but still, looks do count, and if the representative of the police force looks like someone who could be broken in two with a stronger sneeze, I can see why someone who lives by “might makes right” might be temped to disregard the law.

Preferably, I’d like to see him fired. One has free speech in America but this doesn’t translate to keeping your job no matter what you say. For instance, what if a police chief said, “Deep down we are all Nazis, great admirers of Adolf Hitler.” No way he should be able to say this AND keep his job. He should be able to say this BUT not keep his job.

Well, same here, though the reason why this turkey won’t be fired is PRECISELY because Islam is not identified as the spiritual version of Nazism which it surely is. You have to pretend Islam is something good to say what this police chief said and keep your position. So, the Great Pretend Game (GPG) continues. Madness.

Well, cultural Marxists think that Republicans are Nazis. They think their ‘noble savages’ are persecuted and hunted by the American Nazis and so must be protected.

We know that the reverse is true. Muslims allied with fascism in both World Wars. Islam is fascist to the core.

Please, mortimer, quote me accurately here. Frankly, I was highly chagrined when I read your post since I despise Nazism, utterly loathe it, and the way you quoted me didn’t make it look that way. I know you meant well but please be more careful next time.. PLEASE!

How do you mean that, Champ, unless sarcastically? No President of the United States could fire a city police commissioner. Do yo mean he would use, a la Teddy Roosevelt, the bully pulpit to achieve this? Even here matters would be highly problematical.

As for Trump himself, he denounced the Tea Party as late as 2014 and has bragged in his “The Art of the Comeback” about his affairs with married women. Also, his statement last month that Bush lied about WMDs in Iraq is just plain false, actually despicable, and his assertion that he is “neutral” between Israel and those who want its extinction should raise alarm bells of the highest order. I would vote for him for President if it’s a choice between him and Hillary, but how sad that the country has come to such a possible state.

The Founding Fathers emphasized character above all in order for the “great experiment” to be a success. I see very little character in either The Donald or Hillary. Little to none actually.

America is drifting. The fact that Clinton, a massive incompetent, liar and crook, and Trump, a con-man, could be the candidates for POTUS of the two major parties serves as ipso facto evidence of just how far this nation has fallen. And, last of all, don’t forget Trump’s denunciation of Pamela Geller for holding the event she did in Garland, Texas last May. Trump doesn’t “get” Islam at all and merely stumbled into the truth with his call for a temporary ban on Syrian refugees to America.

The times are out of joint, bad guys aplenty are emboldened and the best are almost nowhere to be found. Thus I cannot dismiss a new dark age dawning for the West and all mankind. I still remain skeptically optimistic but if Trump is the best America can do, my skeptical optimism is itself in deep jeopardy.

          To Wellington, re Trump

It was interesting to read your piece. Being a European my knowledge about your current affairs are rather piecemeal.

Obviously, as far as Hillary is concerned, she wants to tolerate sharia, or worse even introduce it on an equal footing, so it seems.

The US: I believe it would be desirable for you (and us) to have a strong president, for as it currently stands, only the US is in a position to act as a leading power for the west – which it currently does not do. Whilst additionally its ability to do so has been damaged or reduced under Obama, and his European sidekick Angela Yeech! ( Insert for European readers: Yes, yes, I know, the US will also be practising hegemony thereby. Comes with being the leading power. If that bothers you, and me!, may I suggest we pull our weight, increase our military spending and build a united, strong European army? Thus the Atlantic will be secure, both our backs will be free, the Americans will get respect for us and WE can concentrate on the areas that matter. Sorry for the looonnng insert, just in case…. )

So, now to Trump: I have a gut feeling there’s something wrong with him. For one thing, he is a deal maker; OK, so were Kissinger and Bismarck. However, Bismarck realized that there were and will be issues you cannot solve with deals. His ‘blood and iron’ speech. Further, he has very strong business links with some of the gulf states. If he does not surrender these to public auspices whilst in office, how can he make un-influenced decisions? As an example: How can he ‘get tough’ with so-and-so if that will cause him personally a loss of, say, $10-20 million a year?

Would anybody trust his decision thereto? I wouldn’t.

Moreover, he has not yet said anything about how he intends to re-establish Amerika’s leading role AND that means also getting its allies back on board. All he has offered so far is a continuously repeated sound bite: “Making America great again!” To that I pose two questions: A) What’s that supposed to mean? and B) Be specific! Obviously, an American will reverse the order of the questions. Nevertheless, I think they remain valid either way.

So far…. Chirp, chirp… hear the grasshoppers. He also has made no reference to the gigantic US foreign debt. You are heading towards 19 trillion dollars, that’s 12 zeros or $19,000 billion….. You may find this link interesting: http://www.nationaldebtclocks.org/debtclock/unitedstates In $1.00 bills on top of each other, that’s a pile of 1,300,000 miles or 5.4 the distance to the moon. For a candidate who stresses his ability as a business man, it is rather strange not even to mention such a debt hanging over his company.

That’s from a European’s point of view. Would be interesting to learn the views of an educated American.

PS: You reply to my post about your southern border was well received, thank you. A slightly humorous comment: All those Mexicans wouldn’t require green cards… 🙂

Thanks for your thoughtful comment, DFD. As for Trump talking about making America great again, I think Ted Cruz had the best reply when he said how can Trump make America great again when he doesn’t know what made America great in the first place?

BTW, I’ve long admired Otto von Bismarck. He made mistakes (e.g., the Kulturkampf) and didn’t appreciate liberty enough, but he unified Germany through his brilliant statesmanship and he knew when to stop, something many others didn’t, for instance Napoleon and Hitler. He met President Grant after Grant’s presidency ended in 1877 and he and his wife, Julia, took a long tour of Europe. The two men hit it off right away and talked with each other like old friends. Each left impressed with the other.

Respecting a strong Europe and a strong America in cooperation with one another, I couldn’t agree more. Besides, we have a common enemy—–Islam.

I am originally from NYC; I grew up, so to say, with ‘The Donald’. Watching him. Admiring him. Laughing at him. Loving the exquisite NY landmarks he helped preserve; and the new ones he created. Non-New Yorkers don’t know this: But he put an end to the urban blight in my beloved hometown. You understand? Giuliani turned around the crime. Trump did the same for the physical city.

I do not know what level of virtue Trump possesses. Certainly it is true that he has no ‘conservative’ history; quite the reverse. Still I am for him, and indeed have been working to elect him (placing signs, doing calls, etc.).

I know 3 things about Trump:

          1. He WILL make us rich again (bring back our corporations, etc.). He’ll kick China and Mexico and any other nations presently supported by our largesse, to the curb and teach them that if they want our $-and they do-they’ll treat the USA with the respect we deserve. And that includes punching the coelenterates of the UN in the face and sending an Ambassador there who’ll embody that attitude every day. Can you say Amb. Bolton?

          2. He WILL tear Mexico a new one. He will build a wall, make them pay for it, and teach them to keep a civil tongue in their heads when they speak to the United States of America in future (hint: The polar opposite of how Vincente Fox recently felt free to address WE-THE-PEOPLE).

          3. He WILL wipe out ISIS. Quickly. Viciously. And in so doing he’ll restore the might of our glorious Military, reminding our enemies to tremble in fear before they risk incurring our wrath.

I say these things with some surety since, as I say, I grew up watching The Donald.

He’ll do #1, simply because he hates freeloaders. He’ll do #2 because he wins every negotiation to which he is a party. It’s in him. And he’ll do #3 because, with all his vulgarity and egotism and love of power, he is an American.

Now I love Cruz, too. And sitting here tonight I praise God that we have not one, but two, candidates who make me-and millions and millions of my fellow Americans-have some hope again.

To Wellington: I see your point. My sincere and deep apologies.

Your words (that I oversimplified leaving out important nuance) were obviously meant by you as ‘AN EXAMPLE ONLY’. There was never a question in my mind about your total and complete abhorrence of and opposition to fascism in any form. Your comparison was meant by you as a REDUCTIO AD ABSURDUM, comparing Islam to another form of fascism. It is 100% obvious that you were writing to express your opposition to both kinds. I hope your well-known opposition to that hideous philosophy and my agreement with you are completely clear to anyone reading.

The impression that a post may give is unfortunately not always clear until after it is written and sent. Without an ‘edit’ feature in this forum, it’s impossible to correct the ‘tone’ or a typo if we get it wrong. My post gave a misleading impression that I did not intend and that I profoundly regret. I wish I could correct it.

Once again, you have my assurance of greater caution in future.

Kathy Brown, Esq. says: “…3. He WILL wipe out ISIS. Quickly. Viciously. And in so doing he’ll restore the might of our glorious Military, reminding our enemies to tremble in fear before they risk incurring our wrath.”

Kathy, generally, your enthusiasm honors you, and such enthusiasm is required when one supports a candidate. Even though I have some reservations about that particular candidate – though, a lot less than about Hillary.

Referring to your point “3)” as quoted above. Wiping out ISIS is no problem, even Italy could do that. The problem is what stands behind ISIS, namely Islam. In financial and geographic terms that means the Arab peninsular. Plus Turkey and Pakistan. Wiping out ISIS, massive bombing and shelling? Sure, no prob. The flag waving and feel good will be remarkable, a victory after a long time. Here’s the problem, immediately afterwards there will be lots of ‘martyrs’ being replaced with new Mujahadeen. Probably more than there were before. Massive bombing? Yes, but hit the prime targets, Ankara, Islamabad, Riyadh etc. And to rub it in: Mecca and Medina.

That would require a NATO operation, and yes, Trump may pull that off. Big, big problem, he has a lot of business interests, that means money at stake, in the prime target area. Yes, it can be done, the U.S. with its bombers can and should take the lead, plus European air forces in supportive role. Then, all NATO ground troops, tanks, artillery and infantry (the German Panzer crews would love it, perfect for tank battles!). But would Trump have the guts for THAT? And would he be willing to bomb a good chunk of his bank accounts? I feel rather dubious about that.

Having said that, a wipe out of ISIS could be very positive, particularly if replaced with Christian ans atheist forces. Equally positive would be that it may trigger the full scale civil war in Europe and the US that will occur sooner or later. The Muslims would go haywire, and the longer we wait, the more messy it will be.

And finally, with an active and enthusiastic supporter such as you, he’s got an even better chance. Keep it up. 🙂

PS: I did not mean to spoil your enthusiasm, merely reminding you of the perspectives and implications.

          Mar 3, 2016 at 11:14 pm

DFD: After we bombed into oblivion ISIL-controlled areas I think we’d have to put a permanent [peace-keeping] force there, don’t you? A la Germany, S.Korea? You laid it out with such specificity-as you said, ‘the muslims would go haywire’, and they would; but they’re already that way; it’s in them. Nothing anybody anywhere does, has any effect on their innate bloodthirsty character, yes? So with them there’s no choice but lethal force.

Having watched The Donald for many years I don’t think he’d shrink from finishing the job. Something I didn’t mention, but which is key, is this: He’s been saying-forever-‘We need to take the oil!’. That in itself would offset loss of capital devolving to US interests. It would also solve so many of our problems with the Mideast-less dependence on them, more $ for us. Trump is an unabashed capitalist and for years he’s lamented that we don’t seize [enemy] assets to offset the great expenditure of military force. This is a sound legal axiom: If others force you to take them out they definitely owe reimbursement. Black and white.

Finally: As to your questions and the concern that such could ‘spoil enthusiasm’; no, never! My dear friend: Good-faith, incisive questions such as yours illuminate. They do not ‘spoil’. Enthusiasm SHOULD be questioned; part of it’s emotional and even tho’ as you say, that’s essential-still, one must be well-founded in one’s enthusiasm. Say your questions illuminate a flawed foundation in my, or anyone’s, enthusiasm? That is to the good. Because only idiots wish to retain, unspoiled, enthusiasm for insubstantial things.

And we’re not idiots now, are we?

Thank you for an erudite post Sir.

We are all human beings, a fact as our DNA shows that we are distinct from animals but I am a agnostic lapsed Christian so what does this bozo mean when he says I am a Muslim deep down. Do Muslims have a unique DNA which can be identified in my DNA and where is my connection to Islam as there is none !

I wish for peace among ALL people no matter whether they are religious, what religion they subscribe to and also those with no religious conviction. Since when did Islam have the monopoly on desiring peace as he’s suggesting here.

His comment “We’re all Muslims deep down. We all yearn for peace.” is crass, asinine and quite plainly offensive to attach one religion to yearning for peace. Is he saying Christians, Jews, Hindus or Sikhs are excluded from wanting peace because they aren’t Muslims ?

I guess the gene pool was rather bare with the ‘smarts gene’ when people come out with dumb religion baiting statements like this !

    We’re all Muslims deep down.

I’m not, and for the same reason I’m not a feminist: I believe in equality. And there’s a word for that: egalitarian. Equality of opportunities and responsibility for one’s actions, not some bulls*** about “they need to pay jizya while being slapped in the face” or “there are few women in STEM fields not because most of them prefer gender studies but because the patriarchy is oppressing them”.

Even though I’m currently doing pennance for “insulting” the more frenzied Preachers of the Lord You’d Better Believe In Or Else You’re Damned! around here, I just can’t resist posting this gem somebody up here in Boston found. It’s the online newsletter by which Muslims in this area network. But since it is of course not entirely hidden from kafir eyes, it also provides an intriguing lesson in “interfaith” manipulation. Includes instructions on how not to cooperate with the FBI and other tactics for resisting “Islamophobia”.

ISBCC = Islamic Society of Boston Cultural Center, by the way. The ISB is, of course, Muslim Brotherhood connected as are all “Islamic Societies”.

One might say that all men are sex beasts deep down, is that what he means? Like what he is? Except that a Human has also what is called a higher self, beyond the animalistic, unless of course this is his first life as a human, and due to the shortage of dog bodies available.
So is he referring to the lower life, below human, ie animal? Although, having said that, most animals do not stoop to the evil that some humans do stoop to. But then they can’t really. They don’t have that means, and so not the choice too.
A human has the choice not to stoop so low, unless brainwashed since birth, or fear peer pressured into to stooping so low.
Islam is wilfully turning innocent babies into beasts.
That guy is a low life, a sicko, like all the humans that cowardly appease the evils of Islam that are plain to see in the Holy Qur’an.
How many infidels that pass opinion on Islam have read the Holy Qur’an?

I see your humor, citycat, but I don’t think he meant his remark as a slander. He could easily have changed the wording depending on the audience he wants to win over…’We are all taxi drivers deep down…’ ‘We are all gardeners deep down’, ‘We are all Italian’, etc.

He was just trying to step over to take their side, but the impression given is that he was identifying too much for his intended compliment to be sincere. He wants Muslims to trust the police. Next time, they should find a better wording. I would tell them, ‘We are all Americans and Bostonians’ or something like that. That’s more truthful.

    yes, that’s his intent.
But the means, that may slip in or slip by, stuff/meanings, has to be quested upon, because it may “carry across” stuff/meanings that are subconsciously accepted by the people, which may just add to the under-rot of the morality of the people, and therefore desublimation may expose this stuff/meanings, because also there is so much stuff that is simply not dealt with, like the word “Islamophobia” for example, and it all increases the rot that attacks our accepted moralities that may be in danger of being suffocated with such phrases and words that mush up the truth of the situation, type of thing.
That’s as logical as i’m getting just now, early morning here, been a long day, just by way of reply.
Hope that’s not too mushy. Ok

Tuesday night Hillary said we need ‘more peace and love’.
I think the good folk of San Bernardino and Boston would respond:
    ‘We tried that already’.
As for this police dolt I wonder if deep down every migrant says like ‘Brothers T’:
    ‘I’ll take these suckers asylum’
    ‘I’ll take their scholarships

  28. Jerry says

No matter how deep a Christian or Jew delves into their faith they will never find active commands to commit violence and murder. In islam, however, violent proselytizing is central to the faith. That is why we see so much murder and mayhem by muslims today. It may be true, the majority of muslims aren’t violent, but they support the terrorists’ aims out of religious conviction. And what do they want? SHARIA and islamic supremacy, that’s what. The terrorists are killing for what the majority wants.

That’s why it’s meaningless to say most muslims are peaceful. If they are “peaceful” it’s in the same sense that mosts Germans were peaceful during the war. But their peaceful support allowed the Nazis to murder millions and cause a world war. The war on terror is not only about defeating terrorists, they alone can’t destroy us. But an invading force of “moderates” that support their aims is the epitome of destruction. “Attack and invade” is the modus operandi of any conquering people, and muslims are achieving that end with the help of our weak leaders. Terrorists live the violent side of islam while moderates live the peaceful. But both are two expressions of the same political and religious alliance. And the result of this alliance will be the destruction of our culture and nations.

So don’t bother reminding me that most muslims are “moderate.” Because they are “moderate” only if one chooses to see the gentler half of the same ugly truth.

Holy Qur’an is the name of the book.
The word Holy means jack to me, as does the word Qur’an.
The name could just as well be made of gobbledegook, it’s all the same to me.
It seems it is that you have some sort of a hang up with the word “HOLY”
    What is that then?
Look to yourself for the source of the problem that you have with the word “HOLY”
Let me guess. You have the sole right to the use of the word “HOLY”?
That’s not anything to do with your religious belief, is it? Like i say, it means jack to me, what it means to you is your problem.
You think you should impose your prejudice on me? That’s rather Islamic, i.e. “You are either for or against us”
No free expression in Islam, or would that be No free expression of the word “HOLY” except in whatever context that you think it should be used. It’s only a word. It’s part of the name of the book. Ok

We have had the same problem in SoCal with now indicted ex LA County Sheriff Lee Baca and LAPD’s chief of counter terrorism, Michael Downing. Both have been active apologists for Islamists in our own community. They have misled the public about the threat of radical Islam. They even participated in a town hall panel a couple of years ago at the Garden Grove mosque of Muzammil,Siddiqi in which they all said that sharia law was compatible with the US Constitution and Bill of Rights.

Boston clearly has the same problem as Southern California.

actually you’re right, i think, the Encyclopedia Britannica lists it as the Qur’an.
I had an old one off an Imman decades ago. I thought it said Holy Qur’an, but not sure, one i bought couple years back, paperback, was called the Koran, and i couldn’t find the bit about the unseen. It was still full of nasty stuff, and i no more have it.
