Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Hamas-linked CAIR threatens suit as Citadel denies hijab for Muslim cadet

May 11, 2016 11:01 am By Robert Spencer

See, a uniform is supposed to be uniform. It is supposed to convey the idea that all those who wear it are engaged in a common enterprise that is greater than their individual proclivities. To allow Muslim cadets wear hijabs would be to deny the very nature and purpose of the uniform itself, and to allow an expression of the assertion that the cadet’s allegiance to Islam is greater than her allegiance to the Citadel or the U.S. military, which is doubtless true, but not something that the Citadel or the U.S. military ought to be in the business of encouraging.

Citadel

“Family considers suit after Citadel rejects student’s hijab request,” by Sam Tyson and Stacy Jacobson, WCIV, May 10, 2016 (thanks to Elizabeth):

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — An American Muslim student admitted to the Class of 2020 Corps of Cadets at The Citadel will not be allowed to wear a religious headscarf with the military college’s standard uniform.

In a statement released by Citadel President Lt. Gen. John Rosa, the decision to reject the request came from an “essential” need to standardize the appearance of the cadets regardless of their religious requirements.

“This process reflects an initial relinquishing of self during which cadets learn the value of teamwork to function as a single unit. Upon graduation, The Citadel’s graduates are prepared to enter a life committed to principled leadership in military service and civilian careers,” Rosa said in the statement.

Rosa says while the request was rejected, religious beliefs are respected at The Citadel and freshman cadets meet with a number of faith-based organizations from the community. The school also offers rides to and from places of worship and accommodates dietary and prayer requirements.

“The diversity of religions and cultural backgrounds represented in the Corps enriches the overall cadet experience and better prepares graduates to become principled leaders in all walks of life, underpinned by The Citadel’s core values of honor, duty and respect,” Rosa said.

A spokesman for the family of a newly-accepted Muslim student at the Citadel says the prospective cadet is disappointed that the school has rejected her request to wear a head covering as part of her uniform.

Ibrahim Hooper with the [Hamas-linked] Council on American-Islamic Relations in Washington said he spoke with the family Tuesday morning after Citadel officials called to tell the woman she could not wear a hijab. Hooper said the woman will not attend the Charleston school this fall unless there is a change. He also said the family is considering legal options.

“We believe the desire to maintain an outdated ‘tradition,’ which was the same argument used to initially deny admittance to African-Americans and women, does not justify violating a student’s constitutional rights. Our nation’s military currently accommodates religious attire in the form of headscarves, beards and turbans. The Citadel should offer the same accommodations,” said [Hamas-linked] Council on American-Islamic Relations Senior Staff Attorney William Burgess. “No student should be forced to choose between her faith and an education that can facilitate future service to her nation.”…

I just thought of a very laughable senario. If this goes to trial, perhaps the defendents could make a deal. Hijab allowed, but every mosque in America has to admit Christans that carry bibles for comparision and a cross necklace. That would be so worth it.

Can citizens wearing crosses be legally excluded from mosques already? On what grounds? Moslems cannot be forced to remove their caps in our churches, if they enter. Where do you get this idea that non-Moslems have to adhere to Moslem whims?

I have never served in the military. But wouldn’t anything like a hijab get caught or stuck on barbed wire or some similar restrictive barrier that military people have to climb/ jump over, or crawl through? Why would anyone want anything on their head but regulation headgear designed to facilitate protection? This student and her family would be bonkers if they sued. And we all know CAIR is already bonkers.?

That is but one attack of creeping sharia, an assault on our far superior way of life. If Islamists have their way, creeping sharia will become leaping sharia. Unfortunately, western civilization with our unsurpassed Judeo-Christian values is ruled to great measure by people who don’t respect those values, but, rather, they favor feudalism however it is achieved, through Marxism, Nazism, sharia, and other ways to rule by tyranny. North Korea could be a beta test for such a way of life.

I bet CAIR is playing chicken. They have no desire to receive bad publicity, and that’s what will happen if they go forth with this suit. What the Citadel claimed (the need to standardize the appearance of the cadets) is by no means unreasonable, so they should stand firm.

Ah, chickens. Here’s a variation of the classic joke/question.

      • Angemon says

        May 12, 2016 at 8:07 pm

I always thought it was because the pig didn’t want to share the street with a muslim. Like in that joke. One stormy night a farmer heard someone knocking on the door. He went to see who was and it was a Jew asking for a place to spend the night. The farmer said “sure, there’s plenty of space in the barn”. Minutes later, there’s another knock on the door. It was the Jew saying “I can’t stay in the barn, there’s a pig there. Pigs are unclean animals in my religion”. The farmer lets him into the house. Later on, there’s yet another knock on the door. It’s a muslim asking for a place to stay. The farmer lets him into the barn. Moment later, another knock on the door. It’s the pig, saying “look, I can’t sleep in the barn, there’s a muslim there”.

(and for those who are now furiously punching their keyboards to write something along the lines of “the farmer should have called the police to have the muslim deported to dar-al-islam because the muslim, by virtue of being there, was waging stealth jihad – the jihad of being there”, only have this to say: it’s a f***ing joke. Go eat a d***).

  8. Tom_S says

    May 11, 2016 at 12:38 pm

I have read on numerous occasions, from various sources including CAIR, that the hajib is, like FGM, not a religious requirement but merely a style or cultural preference and as such non-compulsory; or were the MSA and other organizations sponsoring Wear Hijab Days at various high schools and colleges misinformed. So perhaps a counter-suit is in order so that Mohammedan dogma can be standardized. My mistake, Mohammedan dogma was standardized, 800 years ago.

Also, if it is a religious requirement for devout Muslima to wear the hajib wouldn’t the Iranians forcing the U.S. sailor to wear one been an act of compulsion that is “forbidden” by Mohammed. Would such an act of disobedience make the Iranians heretics? Oh, I forgot, according to Sunni doctrine, which CAIR/Muslim Brotherhood adhere to, the Iranian Shia are by definition heretical so what’s one more sin if it is in the cause of globalism (globalism in this case meaning the global humiliation of the U.S. military).

    • Tom_S says

      May 11, 2016 at 1:18 pm

In case I obscured my point by rambling on in that 2nd paragraph; I think that only a little research would be required to establish that the camel (CAIR/MSA/Muslim Brotherhood) kicked the barn door open while trying to put its nose (Sharia isn’t really Sharia) under the tent (the hajib is a mere fashion accessory) and the horse is long gone: unless they want to reverse themselves and prove that Sharia does require that females be covered and that it does trump Western traditions, laws, and long standing military precedent.

To bad they can’t be lured in by a good legal team. The damage that could be done to the Muslim Brotherhoods plans might set them back years if not a generation.

And this is the problem with muslims, they’re always trying to “islamify” our culture and traditions under threat of violence. This time it’s a lawsuit, next time murder? It seems to be their contention that devotion to islam should take precedence over the traditions and customs of everyone else. But even if islam were worthy of respect as a religion that still doesn’t mean that the pride and traditions of others should have to suffer. Religions and spiritual beliefs are a dime a dozen, pick a god any god. That superfluous and intangible nonsense should not have the power to trample to death secular society. Atheists, corporations, and secular organizations should have the right to self determination without the threat of religious intimidation, it can’t always be about the religion of death. But try and tell that to muslims. You might just end up dead or sued.

    • Ted Tyler says

      May 11, 2016 at 3:19 pm

Jerry, as an Atheist, I believe that mediation is good for your soul (and your blood pressure), and religious prayer is a form of meditation. Now if you see cadets marching along you can’t tell if they are Jews, Christians, Atheists, Mormons, Scientologists or worshipers of Odin or Ishtar. They are first of all – cadets and soon – members of the military. They fight together and are a unit. Now your Muslim comes along and by her garb effectively says: First, I am a Muslim and then second I am a cadet. My religion is more important than service to my country. I am different from you – see I wear a head scarf.

      • Jerry says

        May 11, 2016 at 4:43 pm

My religion is more important than service to my country…

That’s how they believe. And that’s a problem if your religion condones murder of non-believers and other religions. 15 years ago we had 19 muslims that felt the same way, they killed or injured 9000+ civilians and provoked a war that cost us a fortune in lives and money. I’m not too enthused to have more “different” muslims in our nation. Their loyalties are not with us or our way of life, they are firmly with muhammad and his demonic god of hate and death.

If I am not mistaken. I believe the TSA has hijab wearing screeners at some airports. The whole hijab thing is a relatively new phenomenon. It’s all about a regression back to Islamic militancy which started to fall by the wayside not all that long ago. Back in the 60’s in many middle Eastern countries, even extreme doctrinaire ones like Afghanistan many women dressed exactly like their Western sisters without any fear of having acid tossed in their face.

Also covering themselves is on cultural grounds not religious so on what grounds is she going to sue? Religious or cultural? There are many Muslim women who don’t have anything at all covering their head and they are accepted by the community.

Think about that statement for a moment…

In the first place, nobody is forcing her to make such a choice. The rules are that she can’t wear a hijab. She has no choice in that! So what’s this bullsit about being forced to make some kind of choice?

Secondly, most religions are automatically accommodated by the fact that nobody will even know what your religion is unless you want to broadcast it. There is no discrimination based on religion. There is only a dress code.

She has specifically been told they have no problem with her being a Muslim. There are many Muslim women who do not believe Islam requires them to wear a hijab, and they don’t wear one. If this women in the article decides it is required of her, that is a problem she has created for herself.

Here and now I unapologeticly say all lives matter! It doesn’t matter what religion you worship it doesn’t give you the right to commit crime, and if you do practice religion be proud, it is your constitutional right to say “I love God” or “I love Buddha” so long as you don’t hurt others with it and to those who say they’d be offended by that type of talk just walk no one’s telling you to stay and listen. Away It doesn’t matter what race you are you have no right to riot and if you attack a police officer it’s his job to shoot you, don’t expect him to simply take it. I agree with you one thousand and ten percent. We need to get Congress to push through a bill removing all Muslims from government and remove CAIR and the Brotherhood along with the Muslim president from this country. This Muslim culture is the enemy of the American People and the constitution of the United States. They are a sick culture that wants to bring down every decent thing created by God. Let them do their Sharia Law in Syria. We need to include the following Muslim sympathizers: Muslim House delegation, including Reps. Don Beyer (VA), Eleanor Holmes Norton (DC), Keith Ellison (MN), Joe Crowley (NY), Jan Schakowsky (IL), Mike Honda (CA), Betty McCollum (MN), André Carson (ID), introduced the Freedom of Religion Act today to prohibit the use of religious litmus tests as a means to ban immigrants, refugees, and international visitors trying to enter the United States. This Freedom of Religion Act is another way to bring in more Muslims and remove the borders of the United States. This will have to be done when we get a real American President who loves this country. The United States has the right to protect itself from any an all threats by any means necessary. It has the right to profile, discriminate and destroy any threat presented to the American People with Gods Help..
