Is there really any evidence to the contrary?
“Has the Pope Abandoned Europe to Islam?,” by Giulio Meotti, Gatestone Institute, May 26, 2016:
To scroll the list of Pope Francis’s apostolic trips — Brazil, South Korea, Albania, Turkey, Sri Lanka, Ecuador, Cuba, United States, Mexico, Kenya, Uganda, Philippines — one could say that Europe is not exactly at the top of his agenda.
The two previous pontiffs both fought for the cradle of Christendom. Pope John Paul II took on Communism by toppling the Berlin Wall and the Iron Curtain. Benedict XVI took on “the dictatorship of relativism” (the belief that truth is in the eye of the beholder) and bet everything on re-evangelizing the continent by traveling through it (he visited Spain three times) and in speeches such as the magnificent ones at Regensburg, where he spoke bluntly about the threat of Islam, and the German Bundestag, where he warned the gathered politicians against declining religiosity and “sacrificing their own ideals for the sake of power.”
Pope Francis, on the contrary, simply ignores Europe, as if he already considers it lost. This former Argentinian Cardinal, a representative of the “global South” Christianity, made spectacular trips to the migrants’ islands of Lampedusa (Italy) and Lesbos (Greece), but never to the heart of the old continent. Pope Francis has also made it difficult for Anglicans to enter into the Catholic Church, by downplaying the dialogue with them.
Most importantly, however, in his important May 6 speech for the Charlemagne Prize, the Pope, in front of European leaders, castigated Europe on migrants and asked its leaders to be more generous with them. He next introduced something revolutionary into the debate: “The identity of Europe is, and always has been, a multicultural identity,” he said. This idea is questionable.
Multiculturalism is a specific policy formulated in the 1970s. and it was absent from the political vocabulary of Schuman and Adenauer, two of Europe’s founding fathers. Now it has been invoked by the Pope, who spoke of the need for a new synthesis. What is this all about?
Today, Christianity appears marginal and irrelevant in Europe. The religion faces an Islamic demographic and ideological challenge, while the post-Auschwitz remnants of Jewish communities are fleeing from the new anti-Semitism. Under these conditions, a synthesis between the old continent and Islam would be a surrender of Europe’s claim to the future.
“Multiculturalism” is the mosque standing on the ruins of the church. It is not the synthesis requested by the Pope. It is the road to becoming extinct.
Asking Europe to be “multicultural” while it is experiencing a dramatic de-Christianization is also extremely risky. In Germany, a new report just found that “Germany has become demographically a multi-religious country.” In the UK, a major inquiry recently declared that “Britain is no longer a Christian country.” In France, Islam is also overtaking Christianity as the dominant religion. You find the same trend everywhere, from Protestant Scandinavia to Catholic Belgium. That is why Pope Benedict was convinced that Europe needed to “re-evangelized.” Pope Francis does not even try to re-evangelize or reconquer Europe. Instead, he seems deeply to believe that the future of Christianity is in the Philippines, Brazil and Africa.
Probably for the same reason, the Pope is spending less time denouncing the terrible fate of Christians in the Middle East. Sandro Magister, Italy’s most important Vatican observer, sheds light on the Pope’s silences:
“He remained silent on the hundreds of Nigerian schoolgirls abducted by Boko Haram. He remained silent on the young Sudanese mother Meriam, sentenced to death solely for being Christian and finally liberated by the intervention of others. He remains silent on the Pakistani mother Asia Bibi, who has been on death row for five years, because she too is an ‘infidel’, and [He] does not even reply to the two heartrending letters she has written to him this year, before and after the reconfirmation of the sentence.”
In 2006, Pope Benedict XVI, in his Regensburg lecture, said what no Pope had ever dared to say — that there is a link between violence and Islam. Ten years later, Pope Francis never calls those responsible for anti-Christian violence by name, and never mentions the word “Islam.” Pope Francis also recently recognized the “State of Palestine,” before it even exists — a symbolic and unprecedented first. The Pope also might abandon the Church’s long tradition of a “just war,” one regarded as morally or theologically justifiable. Pope Francis always speaks of the “Europe of peoples,” but never of the “Europe of Nations.” He advocates welcoming migrants and washes their feet, while he ignores that these uncontrolled demographic waves are transforming Europe, bit by bit, into an Islamic state.
That is the meaning of Pope Francis’ trips to the islands of Lampedusa, Italy, and Lesbos, Greece — both symbols of a dramatic geographical and civilizational boundary. That is also the meaning of the Pope’s speech for the Charlemagne Prize.
Has the head of Christianity given up on Europe as a Christian place?

Let us not forget that the former Cardinal Bergoglio spent decades as a well-intentioned hard-left “social justice” priest. Unfortunately, and tragically for the Church in Europe, he is now at a point in age where a fuzzy golden glow of early dementia happens to humans.
For the vast majority of such cases, consequences attendant to such thinking is restricted to themselves and their spouses or family, but in the case of Pope Francis, obviously because of his influence upon the Holy See, the harm he inflicts is immense.

My prayers for Muslims to truly convert are prayed every day, but the human in me says these guys might be more dangerous than the average Muslim citizen.
CogitoErgoSum says
Yes, linnte, I agree with you that some may have ulterior motives but I think and hope that most are converting because they truly want to be free of Islam and no longer believe in it. Maybe more and more of these displaced Muslims are beginning to realize that the countries and the people helping them are mostly Christian and the countries and people turning them away are mostly Muslim. Maybe the cognitive dissonance is beginning to be just too much for them. And maybe the Pope should visit some of these converts and listen to what they might tell him. I think maybe they are the ones who need his help most of all … and are the ones from whom he could learn the most.

DFD says
This “pope” and his followers are simply traitors to Christendom, and not just Europe, but worldwide. Their motivation is unknown, but theor words and deeds are clear and beyond doubt.
It is against everything what Jesus preached and everything following the canonical Gospels. The few quotes in reference to Jesus’ sermons and instructions are contradicting clearly the entire context of such sermons.
His condemnation of such… persons is obvious. Jesus spoke about their desire for outstanding dress, social acknowledgement and for their ‘pious virtues’, on several occasions – and finally Jesus referred to them as a “brood of vipers”, literally, personally and directly.
All that talk about Christians being a minority in Europe is utter nonsense. The interviewer asks: “Do you go to Church?” No? You are automatically counted as a non-Christian. The interviewer asks: “Are you a Christian?” No, OK. You say: “Yes.” Then there will be a string of ‘follow on questions’. Such as: ‘How come you believe that? Don’t you know that…’ – ‘Don’t you think that that is ridiculous in today’s age?’ Of course, most people know that and don’t bother, the pollsters will write what they want anyway.
It is fair to assume, I believe, that the number of peoples identifying themselves as Christians, active or not, is at least 10% to 20% greater than the number published by those polls. That would put Christians into the 65% to 75% bracket of the general European population. Which of course is not the required result. So it comes out as somewhere between 45% and 55%. Which of course means that Christianity is supposed to be a minority religion in Europe. Why that is the ‘correct’ interpretation, well, the newspapers and other media outlets are sure to know.
Be that as it may, if the query still doesn’t match the desired result, an ‘allowance’ will be made for “inconclusive” or “confusing” answers received. Then the desired result is achieved, that simple. That’s how polls work, completely meaningless. Learn this, so that you will be able to point that out in any discussions that may develop.
To give you two recent examples, the polls in Germany’s super Sunday in March predicted for the AfD a mere 5-8%. They got between 20% and 25%… Tells the tale? Oh, and they got another 4 seats later, because it turned out there was ‘miscount’ of postal votes. As it happened in Austria last Sunday. Hofer, our man, won clearly. Then came the “postal vote”, about 700,000 out of an expected 350,000 – that’s correct. These gave the commie/green guy a majority of about 35,000 votes, for ALL AUSTRIA! The postal voting results for *four * towns are now under investigation. The ballot papers were already on the tables, no trace of their envelops, and counting of these began hours before the allotted time began. So, the green/commie won by about 1.5%.
Next time you read about Christianity in decline, think about all this.
Personally, when approached by pollsters my reply always is: Not interested to participate and I don’t have time. What’s the use? The result will be falsified by deliberate misinterpretation anyway.

I have come in a bit late here. Silvergrey Cat says St. Francis never had the dubious priveledge of dealing with Muslims. Actually, he did. In 1212 he set out for Syria to convert the Muslims, but was shipwrecked and had to turn back. In 1214 he set out for Morocco, again to convert the Muslims, but he fell sick on the way and could not continue. Again, in 1219, with the same idea of converting the Muslims, he set out for the Holy Land to join a Crusade. He was present at the seige and taking of Damietta. He went fearlessly into the Muslim camp and was brought as a prisoner into the presence of the Sultan. He was listened to, but had no effect on the Sultan. However, he was not killed, and was returned to the Crusader camp. A small miracle in itself.
That was the last time he risked his life with Muslims. Hope that is informative.

This unholy troika is the opposite of Pope John Paul II, Reagan and Thatcher whose steadfastness brought liberty to millions previously oppressed behind the Soviet Iron Curtain and Berlin Wall.
This Pope has no care for Christians persecuted by Muslims. Indeed, he sucks up to Muslims and wants Europe inundated by them. He’s a fool or satanic betrayer of Christian civilization in favor of his South American communism.
RonaldB says
Let me put forward a hypothesis.
You have a tribe of fanatic fundamentalist Muslims sitting on an ocean of money.
They wish to preserve their own privileged position and their own national identity protecting them, but at the same time, they are driven by not only their own beliefs, but by the pressures of the fanatic imams and religious scholars around them do to something to spread Islam.
So, perhaps the best and safest use of their huge pools of money is to selectively support politically-astute, but financially and philosophically-inept political newcomers over a long period of time, supporting them with either bogus business investments, or with ploys such as inflated speakers fees, political contributions, and the likes.
Over a ten or twenty-year period, such “leaders” will not only become totally dependent on such hidden support, but will eventually become thoroughly exposed to blackmail. It is difficult to take money for decades and not have some pretty exposed moments, all caught on video.
When such a leader (and there can be many such budding politicians supported who do not become successful, but just one per country is enough) attains power, he is in position to open the country to Muslim immigration and influence, and long past the point where he (or she) has any choice in the matter.
Just speculating.

I try to take a mini-holiday from the Evil Clown, and I miss this.
I will say it once again: if you do not see the evil exhuding from every pore of this man something is very, very wrong with you.
This is diabolically wrong in several ways. It is astonishing how much evil this man can pack in a few sentences. If he had a drug-addicted Trannie as Pope he might be more Catholic than this tool here.
It is, firstly, satanical that a Pope would encourage the mass immigration of infidels in Europe.
Secondly, it is satanical that the violent conquest of the planet be seen not as an intrinsic element of Islam, but as a phenomenon specific to ISIS.
Thirdly, it is ridiculously contradictory that Francis factually admits, in the following breath, that the idea of conquest is, in fact, a part of Islam.
Fourthly, and in order to show even the most stupid how much he hates Christ, he produces himself in the explanation of the moral equivalence, which “could be stated”, between the Great Commission (given to the faithful) and the violent subjugation of the planet (by infidels).
The mind boggles at the thought that this man is the Pope. The sins of fifty years of V II have been terrible indeed, for us to deserve this satanical clown as, of all people, the Pope.
Pray for the end of this pontificate.

Good News From The Energy Front

Crude reached $50 per barrel again. Forecasts now are that on average oil prices are not going to sink from this level for the next 18 months or so. Forecasts are often wrong, but this is encouraging.
There is only one Christian power remained on the planet, and high oil prices are very good for it. Russia can now prosper with a crude oil price of $30 a barrel; the Country has no foreign debt, and an estimated $500 Billion in bullion and strong currencies in the coffers of Russia’s Central Bank. Crude at $50/barrel means a bonanza. More money for infrastructure, better paid and less corrupt civil servants, massive investments in strategic sectors of the economy. More money for churches. But most importantly, the consolidation in power of Vladimir Putin, and an assured role if not among the superpowers, certainly among the regional powers.
Be glad next time you pay more at the oil pump. You are contributing to the success of the Last Christian Power.

Your dreaming in Technicolour. Putin is the Godfather of the Russian mafia. More money only encourages his dream of restoring the old Soviet Empire. Corruption runs rampant in this country. Gays are persecuted. Freedom of press doesn’t exist. Last Christian Power? Hardly. The power of the Oligarchy, that’s all. Don’t count on Russia to save the world from the muslim hordes. Their goals are not your goals, unless you are in with the power elite there.
Peggy says
So the west isn’t going to save us from Islam and now you say Russia is selling out to Islam as well. You sure paint a bleak picture.
I don’t agree with you. Putin has shown us that he is going after IS. His actions are clearer than your words.
But OK, let’s say you have a point. Can you please show some evidence about Putin’s goals not being good for the world. The fact that he is hitting IS really hard is proof of his dishonourable goals?
RonaldB says
Putin has the national interests of Russia in mind. That’s not a bad thing, as long as we have the national interests of the US in mind, Germany and France, etc.
In other words, the safest world is a world of coherent states and nationalities, each with a rational intent to look out for its own interests. If you think Putin (Russia) is going to look out for your interests, you’re deeply mistaken.
By the way, higher oil prices also allows US and Western oil companies to pursue technologies, such as fracking, deep drilling, and the like, by which the West will be strategically independent of the Middle East for its oil. It won’t put Saudi Arabia out of business, but it will allow the West to pursue its own military defense against enemies (including Russia and China, if need be) without worrying about trans-oceanic supply routes.
The danger of Saudi Arabia is not any monopoly on oil (which it doesn’t have), but the vast amounts of discretionary cash possessed by the Saudi Muslims, who use it to infiltrate, subvert, and corrupt the institutions of the West. The best defense against Saudi money is to cut off all foreign contributions to religious, educational, political, or communication media. And make violations felonies. If US universities and churches can’t live within their own means, they should go into bankruptcy.

This leaves the question of Islam, was Fr. Ribeiro correct when said that the Catholic Church was inventor of Islam. From Martin Lings’ book , Muhammad, it certainly seems that this may be true; since Khadija and her cousins were Catholics the inspiration for Islam may be tied up with the Catholic insider knowledge. I feel sad that Pope Francis has to bow to those that want to harm him out of FEAR. That he has no faith, of what is promised in the scriptures that he professes. He is definitely setting the wrong examples to those that are affirmed believers of God’s WORD now! If he continues this trend he will be causing many to stray away from the Catholic FAITH!

……………………………..
Utterly shameful–and this shows that this Pope has not just abandoned Christians in Europe, but where they are most threatened and oppressed. There is no reason to think that he will do anything more to protect Christians in Europe, either.
That he has specifically ignored a Christian facing death for her faith who has reached out to him is most appalling of all.
