“Cameron accused Khan of sharing ‘a platform with an extremist who called for Jews to drown in the ocean.'” This apparently wasn’t enough to keep Khan from being elected. Soon in Britain it will not be a drawback for candidates at all, but a selling point.
Remember also: those who charge that this is base guilt-by-association would have employed the same tactic lustily had Khan’s opponent ever shared a platform with a foe of jihad terror.
Islamization of Britain Update: “Labour set to recapture London after bitter mayoral campaign,” by Elizabeth Piper and Nadeem Shad, Reuters, May 5, 2016:
LONDON (Reuters) – Labour candidate Sadiq Khan was set on Thursday to become the first Muslim to be elected mayor of London, loosening the ruling Conservatives’ hold on Britain’s financial center after a campaign marred by charges of anti-Semitism and extremism.
His expected victory may be a lone bright spot for Labour on a day of local elections in England, Scotland and Wales. Opinion polls suggested the main opposition party would lose seats in some traditional strongholds, testing the authority of its new left-wing leader, Jeremy Corbyn.
In bright sunshine, Britons trickled in to voting stations to cast their ballots in elections which some campaigners fear could fail to attract many voters, as the contests have been overshadowed by next month’s referendum on whether Britain should leave the European Union.
The fight to run London – the top prize in the local elections – has pitted Labour’s Khan, 45, the son of an immigrant bus driver, against Conservative Zac Goldsmith, 41, the elite-educated son of a billionaire financier.
The winner will replace Conservative Boris Johnson, who has run the city of 8.6 million people for the past eight years and is seen as a leading contender to succeed David Cameron as party leader and prime minister.
Khan has a big lead in the opinion polls, despite accusations by Goldsmith that he has shared platforms with radical Muslim speakers and given “oxygen” to extremists.
“Yes Goldsmith’s argument on the radio made me distrust him … I am absolutely amazed how he tried to smear by innuendo,” said self-employed voter Ian Whisson, describing the Conservative candidate’s campaign as “disgusting and slimy”.
Goldmith denies the charge, saying he has raised legitimate questions over his opponent’s judgment.
The campaign, condemned by Labour for using what it calls Donald Trump-style tactics to divide Londoners along faith lines, has swept aside usual concerns in the capital over high transport costs and a lack of affordable housing.
HEATED CAMPAIGN
On the eve of the vote, Prime Minister Cameron and Labour leader Corbyn went head-to-head over Khan and Goldsmith’s campaigns in a heated parliamentary debate.
Cameron accused Khan of sharing “a platform with an extremist who called for Jews to drown in the ocean”, while Corbyn accused the Conservatives of “smearing” Khan.
Khan says he has fought extremism all his life and that he regrets sharing a stage with speakers who held “abhorrent” views.
But the former human rights lawyer has also had to distance himself from Corbyn after a row over anti-Semitism.
The Labour leader ordered an inquiry into charges of anti-Semitism after suspending Ken Livingstone, a political ally and a former London mayor, for saying Adolf Hitler had supported Zionism.
Khan was quick to condemn the comments. Although people out in the capital said the row had done little to change their view of the Labour candidate for mayor, others said they had become disenchanted with the party itself….

I’m writing this at 7.50 pm BST (London Time). They haven’t completed the election yet – over 2 hours to go. So hold your horses, folks, we don’t know if London has been sold down the river quite yet. And the press has been telling people all about Kahn in most of the popular national dailies, so most English people aren’t going to fall for this specimen especially as the Labour Party’s reputation now fairly stinks to high heaven. The problem will be that, whilst there is a whole range of candidates who will appeal to sensible English voters, there is clearly going to be only ONE candidate who will appeal to the sizeable ‘ethnic’ (UK-speak for – guess what?) vote (and there are parts of London that are majority-ethnic now). If Kahn DOES get in, I think it will be pretty obvious why, and English voters really should vote tactically (i.e., concentrate their votes on the most likely opponent) to avoid that disgusting scenario. Not sure that’s likely to happen, sadly, and this could mean that London is effectively controlled by an alien minority. Time to leave, I think, just like hundreds of thousands of English people have increasingly done over the last 20-30 years.

The problem is not that Khan is a liar; the problem is that he’s a Muslim.

No, a citation is needed because you’re making an assertion based on weasel words and flying in the face of what’s going on. Do you not see how often the MSM needs to repeat that “islam is a religion of peace”? Do you not see how criticism and rejection of islam is the driving force behind political movements and individuals? You know, the ones that the MSM consistently calls “bigots”, “racists” or “islamophobes”? Would the MSM need to continuously repeat that “islam is a religion of peace” and that islamic critics are “bigots”, “racists” or “islamophobes” if “many” people actually thought that?
“Secondly, “so many” just means “a lot” for fuck sake. It’s a subjective impression,”
Meaning you don’t have an objective source for what you claimed. Meaning I was absolutely right in asking for a citation.

Oh, *this* again.
This is nothing but emotional blackmail. And when I *have* responded in the past, usually Fessitude–his latest incarnation here–has responded with nothing but abuse if my comments failed to fit with *exactly* what he wanted to hear, phrased in the exact manner he wanted to hear it.
And that abuse has often continued on your own site as well as this one.
A respectful reply has *never* been enough for you.
You have, in fact, often abused posters here–including Robert Spencer himself.
Moreover, while Angemon has at times been less than polite in his replies to you, I find nothing like that this time–he simply asked you for citations–surely *that* is not at all rude.
So what is it that you don’t think he should be allowed to “get away with”? Asking for clarification should not be beyond the pale.
And I do not speak for Angemon here, or for anyone else. I am not responsible for what he has to say–nor is he responsible for my opinions. We have, in fact, had minor disagreements from time to time.
I consider you a friend, as well–or certainly did for many years. I do not consider myself responsible for your views, either.
Further, I have no control over what you, or Angemon, or anyone else has to say here, nor would I expect to. I may choose to reply to a comment, or even to counter it robustly in the case of trolls, but I cannot prevent anyone from “getting away” with whatever they want to say here.
The only ones with that power are Robert and Marc–you can take the matter up with them if you wish.
For what it’s worth, I do think you are quite right in this specific instance, Fessitude–clearly many Britons *don’t* think there is a problem with Muslims; if they did, they never would have had a major political party field a Muslim candidate for mayor of London, and they *certainly* would not have elected him.
Willful denial is a powerful–and dangerous–thing.
That they are additionally ignoring specific links Khan has to Jihad terrorism makes it all the worse. Of course, many of his supporters are Muslims–but no one can get elected in London–not yet, anyway–without a large percentage of the Infidel vote. The Muslim population of London is somewhere over 13%–a horrifying figure, surely, but not one the constitutes a majority.
Just so you know, though, in future I will *not* respond to this emotional blackmail further–if you wish to solicit my opinion, well and good–but I will not be browbeaten.
And the idea that I was somehow deliberately ignoring this comment is ridiculous–I had not even come back to this thread until now.
I could reiterate how I respect the comments of yourself and Angemon and every other Anti-Jihadist here, even though I might sometimes disagree on this or that discreet issue–but why even bother at this point?

Was that not clear? You’re a bigot with an agenda to push, therefore you zoomed in on a cherry-picked part of Panmelia’s post and pretended it meant something else entirely different.
““Unless there has been massive electoral corruption (quite possible with mudslimes), the ‘result’ manipulated and the news sent over the pond before it’s announced here in the UK””
What’s before that?
Panmelia was saying that the title of the article was wrong because at the time she wrote her post the election wasn’t decided yet.
““Unless” implies that if Khan wins, it’s because of “manipulation”. ”
Huh, no. Read the f***ing post. Panmelia is saying that Khan, at the time she wrote the post, wasn’t the mayor of London. Hence the “news sent over the pond before it’s announced here in the UK”” bit you’re disregarding. Because it doesn’t fit in your agenda.
““Manipulation” by whom? By ordinary citizens, by right wingers, by “the People”?”
Let me repeat that for you: Panmelia was not saying that Khan would only win thanks to manipulation. What Panmelia was saying is that the only way an US-based website could say who was the new Mayor of London before the voting took place was if there had been manipulation.
“gravenimage, are you going to let your friend Angemon get away with this?”
a) get away with what, calling you on your nonsense?
b) GI is NOT your bodyguard or pet hound that you can sic on others as you please (BTW, what happened to “godless”?)
c) considering the amount of crap you gave GI, you’re in no condition to demand anything from her.
Again: Panmelia had an issue with an article published on the 5th of May saying Khan was the new Mayor of London when the voting was still ongoing and there were no official results. You went out of your way to twist it and deride someone for allegedly talking about “leftist elites” when such argument was not made. Also, what’s with your reflexive defence of “leftists” in general? This is far from being the first (and I doubt it’ll be the last) time you try to deride someone for (in this case allegedly) criticizing the purveyors of “diversity” and “multiculturalism”.

“Huge voter fraud – that is traditional Leftist stuff” – can’t quite agree with that. The Labour and other left-of centre Parties have been around for something like a century, and people in the UK pretty well exclusively played by the rules for that time, irrespective of class, etc. That’s the ‘proper’ British people, I mean. The ‘huge voter fraud’ of more recent times has been shown to emanate from quite another group of ‘British’ citizens, of which Kahn is a member.

Going to the dogs would be fine, but to the others, no.

Voter fraud may well be a factor–there have been scandals of just this sort in places like high-Muslim-population Tower Hamlets–but probably not the deciding point.
More like just as with the election of Barack Obama, clueless voters are patting themselves on the back for having been so “open minded” as to have ignored rational fears of Muslims and Jihad terror to have elected Khan. This is what “political correctness” has led us to.

Graven, I just read the article for which you provided a link . . . and I was stunned at the aggregate of information that was presented. “Defender of the Faith” has a distinct royal heritage; Charles’ subtle preference for “Defender of Faith” is alarmingly suspicious. I could not help but think of how that title was bestowed upon Henry VIII some 500 years ago by Pope Leo X . . . today, I think that Pope Francis would celebrate Charles’ choice for deleting an article — “the” — as this omission embraces his narrative of religious dialogue.
It annihilates the imagination to determine why prominent, Christian political and religious leaders willfully refrain from defending Christianity but blatantly rush to world-stage microphones to proclaim the richness of Islam, like some well-choreographed Grand Apology Tour.
Thanks, Graven, for the link.

Thank you, Cecilia. Prince Charles is indeed a disturbing figure when it comes to Islam, and I hope he is never king, but that the crown passes directly to William, who seems far more decent.
Yes–the monarchy in Britain is merely symbolic and ceremonial at this point–but symbols and ceremony are still potent forces.
Just as I am glad that the Hitler-admiring, pro-Fascist Prince Edward, Duke of Windsor did not become king in the years leading up to WWII due to his fascination with divorcée Wallis Simpson, and that British patriot George VI ascended the throne instead, I hope there is no King Charles III in our immediate future.

The english people have sunk so low, there is no way out of it. gravenimage says
Agreed–anyone who has read the book knows that Uncle Tom was actually an entirely noble character. Disgusting that this is now being used as a slur.
Fessitude says
Calling them “Uncle Toms” is a sly maneuver on two levels:
1) it racializes the issue (or, rather, it reminds the white Westerner, ever anxiously disquieted about his eternal White Guilt, of how the Islam issue is supposed to be racialized — thereby benefiting the Muslim because of the dominant and mainstream culture of White Guilt throughout the Dar-al-Harb; not that the Khans of the West need to do that much reminding anyway…)
2) it confers upon those “Moderate Muslims” counter-jihad cred among the credulous in the Counter-Jihad Mainstream (Maajid Nawaz and his partner-in-bromance, Sam Harris, for example, have made much hay out of how supposedly more “extremist” Muslims have called Nawaz an “uncle Tom”, therefore strengthening Nawaz’s Reformer cred among those in the Counter-Jihad gullible enough to esteem it — including not only Sam Harris, but also Ayaan HIrsi Ali, Douglas Murry, and Australian counter-iihadist Alison Bevege — and unfortunately, probably many others).
Jihad is a many-splendored thing, with many different forms & flavors. Call #1 the JIhad of the Race Card; call #2 the JIhad of the Multitasking, Diversified Platform (aka the JIhad of the Right Hand Pretending Not to Know what the Left Hand is Doing…)
Georg says
Exactly right with #1; they’re always bending over backwards to align themselves with African-Americans in particular. Not, of course, due to a historical similarity of circumstance (or even a concern for African-Americans), but because it’s we’re historically and culturally sensitive to it. I took a class on Western Asia in university which turned out to be one long grievance and hate-fest against the West and white people. A Hindu Indian girl in the class who never wore the same clothes twice, had the latest Mac model, spoke like a valley girl, held a conference about being “oppressed”. Thinking of the sacrifices my family has made for this country over the generations and observing this free-rider come along and plug into the economic pipeline so painstakingly set up over centuries and show not only an utter lack of respect, but contempt, was a surreal and eye-opening experience. They would always dance around the assertion that because the United States and whites were racist toward African-Americans, who were/are not white, that they, who are not white, have been and are wronged in like. Despicable of course, but it carries currency– which is all that matters. It gets them stuff. Praise in their community and material wealth and social status from us. It’s a slimeball mentality the West and whites don’t have the fortitude to stand up to. There’s the saying “Build it and they will come”, this is something along the lines of “Create and opportunity and it will be exploited”.

It does seem to be a Taliban flag. Another patron was waving around a white one with black lettering. And to Angemon, you’re so right about us, the West, not having the right antibodies. Islam’s encroachment and entryism is well-described in an ecological and evolutionary context. Just as a virus species has many mutations and thus iterations, so has Islam in its attempts to invade its host, the West. Outright confrontation didn’t work (it was ejected as with vomit), but it simply transmogrified over and over and over and will continue to do so until it evades an immune response. As many have said, it is an ideology masquerading as a religion. There is a reason systems such as this have been around as long as they have– they are damned good at spreading and reproducing themselves, if they weren’t they wouldn’t be here, and thus we must treat them as the evolved contagions they are. Our laws cannot keep up with it (not least because of regressive-leftist politicians). Where it fails, it will change. But once it’s in power, it will be free to do as it wishes, and the immune system which previously acted as gate keeper will be immaterial.

London’s new Muslim mayor has shared platform with Jew-haters
…………………….
I hand’t realized that Sadiq Khan was poised to win. My condolences to all civilized Londoners.
“Red Ken” Livingston was pretty bad–but Boris Johnson, while not perfect, was a pretty decent human being.
I don’t know if he still has a chance, but I’ve been rooting for Zac Goldsmith.

Depressingly predictable. God, I will never ever forgive Labour.
Anjem Choudary recently defended Labour in the debate about
anti-Semitism (well he would, wouldn’t he). Tells you everything
you need to know about these reprobates.

Hamas just lauded Jeremy Corbyn.

Northern Virginiastan says
Zac Goldsmith?? Is he related to Jemima Khan nee Goldsmith who was married to cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan?
gravenimage says
No. Zac Goldsmith is the conservative candidate for London Mayor–he is running *against* Khan.
Custos Custodum says
Yes. Zac is Jemima’s brother and Imran Khan’s ex-brother-in-law.
However, Khan is an extremely common last name in Pakistan. One should not assume from the last name that London mayor Sadiq Khan is closely related to Pakistani pol Imran Khan.
Baucent says
With a name like Goldsmith, I’d assume he is Jewish. So when he talks of extremists, he know the threat his community faces.
Northern Virginiastan says
Technically, Zac Goldsmith is not Jewish, as his mother is not Jewish. His father, however, is Jewish.
Here’s another tidbit: Jemima reverted to her maiden name Goldsmith after Imran Khan remarried. Khan’s second marriage lasted only 10 months. His now ex-wife, a BBC reporter, said ‘I was asked to make chapatis [similar to tortillas], stay indoors.’
Fessitude says
…cricket legend Imran Khan has defended Mr Goldsmith’s campaign. He said: “My backing for Zac is purely on knowing him for 22 years and urging him to go into politics.”
Asked if Mr Goldsmith was Islamophobic, he told The Guardian: “Of course not. I think of anyone, he will be fair to minorities, I think he is very just.”
If the slyly stealth jihadist Imran Khan defends Zac Goldsmith, I wouldn’t vote for him.
Then, of course, another 60 seconds of Googling “zac goldsmith + islam” yields such dismaying, but unsurprising, toxic waste as this:
Zac Goldsmith, MP for Richmond and a respected environmentalist and climate change campaigner, spoke passionately about the environmental crisis the world faces when he addressed Islamic Relief’s Welcoming Ramadan dinner in London on June 15.
In an inspiring speech, he quoted from the “incredibly powerful” words of Qur’an 10:24 – “the clearest possible message from the highest possible authority about the need for us to respect the natural world”.
He praised Islamic Relief for its “extraordinarily impressive leadership role in relation to climate change”, as well as its grassroots connections, interfaith partnerships and ability to “uniquely access places that others simply cannot”, from rural Afghanistan to Yemen.
Here is the full text of his speech:
“I don’t really know what to say now. I follow an amazing introduction, and I have to say a really magnificent speech by Jehangir. Having been here for only 15 minutes I’m beginning, just beginning to understand how this organisation has reached the heights that it has. The level of energy, the enthusiasm, the good will in this room is just extraordinary…”

Zac Goldsmith seems to be competing with Conservative Businesswoman and former VP choice by Conservative Republican Christian Ted Cruz) Carly Fiorina for the “Most Nauseating Gushing about Islam” Award…
Once again, we see that the effective function of Bad Cop Muslims like Khan (to the extent that those in the mainstream are comfortable criticizing him for his “ties to extremism”) is to distinguish the innumerable non-“extremist” Muslims whom — by contrast — we can “work with” and embrace into the fabric of our societies.
gravenimage says
I still would have voted for Goldsmith over Khan, Fessitude.

I stand corrected, Custos. Disturbing to see that even the Infidel candidate has close ties to Jihad supporters.

Why would any sane person continue to live there in dhimmitude?

The rise and success of Trump in the USA is largely thanks to things like this. We’re watching Europe collapse right before our eyes, and Americans aren’t as cucked as the EU yet and we have a chance to swing back to the right before it’s too late.

Trump’s Muslim ban is the primary reason I’m voting for him.

“Soon in Britain it will not be a drawback for candidates at all, but a selling point.”
“Soon”? Already happened. The recent ‘jew hating’ story about the Labour Party, and the video of Khan calling ‘moderate’ muslims “Uncle Toms”, only served to increase his lead in the polls subsequent to both these stories appearing in the media for days.
Baucent says
None of this is surprising. It was revealed last year that the most popular name for baby boy’s in London was Mohammed (in various spellings).

Hi All,
I hate, as much as I love, to tell you this:
About 30 years ago I read in London an officially approved version or translation of a book. Title: Mein Kampf, bought it at WH Smith. (Paid over six quid for that trash!)
That idiot predicted that Britain would be the first European nation to elect an Asian/Muslim (forgot which one) head of state. What a plonker to even think that…
Well, will it be: “God Save The Queen” or: “Allah Save The Malika”?
Any Bets?

Europe has committed suicide
Fessitude says
Not yet. The bottles of pills lie toppled and empty on the nightstand, Europa still manages to make slurring phone calls and once or twice even staggers into the bathroom to urinate, but down the line may fall headlong into the tub. It will be one long, slow suicide, lasting nearly a century. Oh what a fall that will be, when the 22nd century rolls around. On that day, Muslims will party like it’s 1453…

I’ve often joked that I live in Londonobad capital of Brtitanistan. Today we have taken step away from the joke and towards a horrifying reality.
Khan is an anti Semitic terrorist supporter who should have been barred by the Labour party from standing for mayor, and maybe would have been if the modern Labour party did not share the same values.
I believe that the highly suspect postal vote had much to do with the result. Many Muslim households with 3 or 4 residents have been known to register 20 or more voters. Our simplified politicians and police will of course do nothing about this.
It is a tragedy that the present situation in Britain and Eorope will probably only be resolved with much violence and bloodshed.

GI, zoom that pic and look at the face of the woman in blue, above the Arab’s head, who is looking at the belly of the pregnant hijabed woman. Is that not the look of someone thinking “She’s pregnant? F***, this is where my tax money is going”.
(also, to her right, possibly two other muslimas with kids, which may have walked past her).
Troybeam says
Understanding Islam is the key see what is happening in all nations that have allowed Islam to gain entrance, immigrants arrive have children who are now citizens of that nation child grows up and seeks a political position, soon after the agenda is pushed to bring in more Muslims into the nations elected government positions and soon enough one finds an entire Muslim elected government who is then able to shift the government to run under sharia law: a quiet silent peaceful jihad against nations.
Islam has no agenda except to destroy nations instill sharia law though peaceful jihad, the sooner people understand this the easier it will be not to vote for Muslims running for office. Islam is Islam there is nothing in between, no moderates radicals or peaceful Muslims, There is but one Koran people and ALL Muslims follow it.
PRCS says
“and soon enough one finds an entire Muslim elected government”
Yup.

And, yes, every Muslim reads that ONE Qur’an: amputations and all.
Bob Smyth says
Won’t be long before certain ‘communities’ receive large amounts of taxpayer-funded largesse. Plus, expect to see large numbers of ‘special advisers’, ‘community consultants’ and ‘Islamophobia monitors’ recruited into well-paid secure jobs. All chosen from ONE ‘community’, of course. Non-Muslims don’t need to bother applying. Applications to build mosques will suddenly become ‘exempt’ from the planning and building regulations that apply to every other building.
Bill says
Roman Britons invited the Saxons into their country. Anglo Saxons have invited Islam into their country and will experience a similar result. Only, there will not be an “Anglo” precursor to “Muslim”.

A Muslim mayor of London. Words fail me.
Angemon says
Well, they have what they voted for. Or, considering the 45% turnout, didn’t vote against.

Just that it’s come to this. Unthinkable even 20 years ago. That’s how fast Islam takes over.

Good that my mother is not with us any more.
She was in London and Oxford in 1939.
Got a telegram to come home. “Come Home. It will be war. ” – it said. Sweden had to strenghten its military defence.
She had met a man in the UK, who was killed in the Blitz. He was a pilot. Wrote a book. She gave me.
She was in London circa 1980 and was chocked.
Good she is not around anymore.

British Christians and any other denominations including Atheists and homosexuals will never be able to do enough for Islam. now that it has taken hold. All the human rights atrocities of the middle east will be taking place there soon everyday with violent impunity. THE END.
Marty says
The outcome is disaster on many levels & reflects London as a place of shame,
dominated by the anti British far left & muslim colonisers.
There are good UK citizens of immigrant muslim stock.
They are ex muslims, or muslims who keep their religious beliefs to
themselves. One such is Savid Javed, a Tory minister & a man
with brilliant abilities. He has one wife, a Christian, & two children,
brought up as mainstream UK kids. He has never associated with
islamists or Jew Haters. I’d vote for him.
Tragically for the UK, this cannot be said for Kahn.
For a start he was helped, unknowingly presumably, by massive electoral fraud,
as is the case with all politicians seen as favouring muslim demands.
