Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

“The children I met in Syria…they were educated to hate Jews”

May 6, 2016 10:37 am By Robert Spencer

A glimpse into a culture in which Jew-hatred is taken for granted as the norm. This culture is rooted in the Qur’an: “You will surely find the most intense of the people in animosity toward the believers to be the Jews…” (5:82)

Riad Sattouf

“A cartoon journey through a Middle East childhood,” by Jastinder Khera, BBC News, May 6, 2016 (thanks to Jamal):

It all began with a portrait of Georges Pompidou when he was a small boy, says French-Syrian cartoonist Riad Sattouf, explaining a career which is now bringing him to international attention.

“When I did that drawing I saw in the eyes of my grandmother that I was exceptional and then after that I tried again and again to find this in the look of other people. And this is what I’m still trying to do today,” Sattouf says.

Sattouf’s own life hadn’t featured prominently in his work until now but he says the impetus for his recent highly acclaimed book, The Arab of the Future – a memoir of his childhood in the 70s and 80s – came from the beginnings of Syria’s civil war.

From Paris, he began trying to get some of his Syrian relatives out of Homs in 2011 when fighting in the city, dubbed the “cradle of the revolution”, was just beginning to break out. “I was convinced that the country would go to complete destruction,” Sattouf says.

However, it proved more difficult than he anticipated to get permission from French authorities to relocate them.

“I wanted to tell in my comics what was happening in the French administration,” he says, adding that he wanted “a sort of funny revenge” on the bureaucrats.

In the first volume of Arab of the Future, recently released in an English translation, he tells of how his Syrian academic father Abdelrazak met his French mother Clementine.

Afterwards Abdelrazak rejected a teaching post at Oxford University in favour of one at a university in Col Gaddafi’s Libya, before moving on to Syria under Hafez al-Assad. His wife and the infant Riad went with him.

Through it all Abdelrazak holds forth to his long-suffering family – and to us – on the need for Arab countries to be “forced” to be modern. He expresses a sometimes grudging admiration for both Gaddafi and Assad.

In the book, each country is depicted by a particular colour – Libya is yellow like its sun and sand, France is the blue of the sea near his grandmother’s Brittany home and Syria is red like its soil.

Sattouf says he chose the technique to convey the sharp dislocation he felt as a child when moving between these different places. “If you stay one hour under a red light, and you go out, the world will seem green,” he explains.

Sattouf says he drew entirely from memory and the book is full of the impressionistic, sometimes visceral nature of childhood recollections, such as one memory from a ration queue in Libya.

Childhood and adolescence are themes that recur in Sattouf’s work. In La Vie Secrete des Jeunes (The Secret Life of Young People), a strip that appeared in the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo between 2004 and 2014, he depicted conversations overheard between teenagers and young people in various places around Paris.

Sattouf started working for the magazine after being personally invited to do so by the cartoonist Cabu, one of those killed in the January 2015 attack by Islamist extremists on the magazine’s offices.

By that time Sattouf had stopped producing the strip but in the first issue after the shootings he contributed a one-off return to the series.

It depicted a man of North African origin whom Sattouf saw in his street the day after the attacks. He is discussing the attacks on his phone and appears to be arguing with someone who suggests the assault were part of a unspecified “plot” before saying: “I don’t give a **** about Charlie Hebdau… But if you don’t like it, don’t read it, you don’t kill them”.

While Sattouf insists he is not a satirist, in The Arab of the Future, politics inevitably looms threateningly at the edges of his portrayals of his family’s experience, particularly in Hafez al-Assad’s Syria.

The first word he learns in Arabic is “yahudi” or “Jew”, which some children in his father’s village accuse of him of being on account of his blond hair and foreign mother.

Some critics have pointed to scenes such as this as proof that the book’s portrayal of the Arab world is reductive and misleading, but Sattouf rejects this.

“The children I met in Syria,… they were educated to hate Jews and to hate Israel but they were extremely intelligent people. They had nothing and they were very clever.”…

Actually those impressionable children in worse then “educated” to hate the Jewish people , those youths are brainwashed to hate Jews from their most early years on up. Not only is this bad for the Jewish people but its also child abuse too the extreme.. Those who mind programming those child aren’t even those children a chance to thing for themselves. As in think on their own. Furthermore, all this hateful and malice evil has its origin the the Koran which teaches the Jews are descendants of “Apes and Swine.” As found in the Koran in 2:65.; 7::166. :5:60. Moreover, with this knowledge it’ important to understand the basic foundation on the Koran. So for a more full understanding of the actual nature of the Koran a person need to look back in time before the coming of Muhammad and then the Koran. Back to the First Century AD which was the time of early Christian church. For the Early Christian Church had and now in modern times the Christian church still has the Gospel of Christ, First Corinthians 15:1-4. Much later, in time, came Muhammad and he gave much information, that many believe to be divine, some of which is said to have been obtained from an angle from heaven. This information was written down on different objects and things Those written words in different objects was then compiled together and then eventually went into the composition of what is now called the Koran, As some also call it the Qur’an. The Koran is actually, that is in reality, another gospel, apart and greatly different from the Gospel of the Christian Church. Such a thing was predicted in the Bible. For the Bible does warn about those who will come and offer to people another gospel other than the one shown above, First Corinthians 15:1-4. For it is warned about any other “gospel” in the Bible. For it is written in the Bible “Though we or an angle from heaven preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so I say now again, if any man preaches any other gospel unto you than ye have received, let him be accursed.” Galatians 1:8, 9. [K.J.V.] Therefore, the Koran is the result of the deception of a false prophet, Mathew 7:15., who may have come in contact with a fallen angle, a demon, So the imams and mullahs who preach it a truth to other are accused of and by God.

Congratulations for using your real name. When I first started this Internet thing I used a phony moniker because everyone else was doing it and I thought it was the thing to do. After a while, especially as I increasingly came to stand with Israel, it seemed like a craven thing to do. I couldn’t reconcile using a phony name with having the “courage of ones convictions”. Now most of my time is spent posting the books and articles I’ve read on websites and Facebook pages across the Internet. It’s fun, what can I say? And maybe a little unfair. As liberals and Muslims literally melt when you shine the light of truth on them. Actually what they do is call me names. I LOVE sharing my views on places like Democracy Now and other assorted liberal Facebook pages. Isn’t this what this venue is for? To put before them examples of how we “compare” Christianity to Islam? One of my favorite books to post is Slavery Terrorism and Islam: The Historical Roots and Contemporary Threat by Peter Hammond. It’s crude, has no index or notes but it’s the one that I reach for the most. Read the book review by Forrest W. Schultz; An Expose of the Nature of Islam where he mentions Churchill in the Appendix. He talks about the African slave trade that was STARTED by the Arabs. Compares America’s brief transatlantic slave trade to the 1,300 year slave trade of Islam. And the numbers; millions of slaves from Africa alone. He discusses movies like Kingdom of Heaven. (I loved this movie.) And it’s total inversion of the Crusades. I think I got the book for only ten bucks. It is a GREAT little resource. And I’ve got all of Andrew Bostom’s books. Joan Peter’s “From Time….”, Robert Wistrich, etc.

I just responded to a klutz who posted that the Nazis were Christians and the “safest place for the Jews was the Ottoman Empire”. There’s a book I can’t remember that’s supposed to be coming out shortly that addresses the Nazi/Christian BS. Bostom talks in length about the Ottoman Empire in his Legacy of Islamic Antisemitism. I love this stuff, what can I say?

Excerpt from “On Jihad” letter that I wrote a while back. My point; always “compare”. Compare Muhammad to Jesus, compare Sheikh Abdullah bin Humaid’s article on Jihad to Emmet Fox’s book The Sermon on the Mount and compare the Koran to the Bible. And compare the religion that promotes itself as “the religion of peace” with the religion that doesn’t have to.

Another man, who does have a deserving title in front of his name, is the Reverend Richard Wurmbrand. It’s men like him, and his experiences as a Missionary in Communist Russia, that teach me the differences and the realities of who the legitimate men of God are. A perfect example is the description of the word “martyr” on page eight of his book “Tortured for Christ”:

“According to the original Greek, “martyr” means “witness”. The writer of Hebrews states that “we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses [martyrs]” (12:1), and Jesus instructs us in Acts 1:8, “You shall be witnesses [martyrs] to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” The New Testament martyr not only personally testified to the truth and power of Jesus Christ, but was instructed to take that witness to others, regardless of the cost. Later in the book of Acts, we read about the stoning of Stephen, making him the first to pay the ultimate price for that witness. It is at this time that the word martyr took on a much stronger meaning as one who not only is a witness but as one who is willing to give his life or to be martyred for that cause.”

In my copy of Tortured For Christ I’ve got the last four words double underlined; “martyred for that cause”. How is Muslim “martyrdom” different from that of Christians?

The world over Muslims are murdering Buddhists. And using the word “murder” is putting it kindly. In all of Islamic literature; Sahih Muslim, Sahih Bukhari, The Koran and especially Reliance of the Traveller where can you find teachings that would result in the following story?:

This is from the book “the Wisdom of Forgiveness” by His Holiness the Dalai lama and Victor Chan. Pages 47 and 48:

“Whenever the Dalai lama talks about forgiveness, he likes to use as an example the story of Lopon-la, a Lhasa monk he knew before the Chinese occupation. ‘After I escaped from Tibet, Lopon-la put in prison by Chinese’, the Dalai Lama told me. ‘he stayed there eighteen years. When he finally free, he came to India. For twenty years, I did not see him. But he seemed the same. Of course looked older. But physically OK. His mind still sharp after so many years in prison. He was still same gentle monk. He told me the Chines forced him to denounce his religion. Thery tortured him many times in prison. I asked him whether he was ever afraid. Lopon-la then told me: ‘Yes, there was one thing I was afraid of. I was afraid I may lose compassion for the Chinese.’”

      I’d like to know, when I look at the pictures of the wild-eyed fanatics in pictures and TV, (or stoning Christians at Muslim Festivals in Dearborn MI.), where is that spirit of love and forgiveness when they’re shouting “alahu-akbar”? I can’t even find it in Taha’s Second Message of Islam. Here’s an exerpt of what I DO find;

“we may describe it, (jihad), as a surgeon’s lancet and not a butcher’s knife.” I’m sure there are about 200 million dead people that would disagree with him.

I’ve got a neat little “poster”; one side is a picture of a bunch of screaming, frothing at the mouth Arabs and on the panel beside that a picture of a Jew in a labcoat. The caption below says: “In 2007 Islam and Judaism’s holiest holidays overlapped for 10 days. Muslims racked up 397 dead bodies in 94 terror attacks across 10 countries during this time… ….while Jews worked on their 159th Nobel Prize.”

    I knew that already.

Here’s an article that appeared in Israel National News in December 2015.

    http://www.israelnationalnews.com/Articles/Article.aspx/18031

Op-Ed: What do Syrian children learn in school?

“…A child growing up and progressing through the Syrian education system[1] will be educated in a manner that teaches hate and intolerance rather than one that promotes peace.

“Regarding the Arab-Israeli war , children are taught that it is not a matter of borders but rather Israel’s existence as a whole that is the core of the conflict[2].

“Furthermore, they are taught that this conflict is the number one priority issue for Arabs[3] and that fighting it is a matter of honor[4]. This narrative is repeated throughout all age levels beginning in grade 2.

“Syrian children are also taught that Jews are evil and a false people and that their religion does not make them a nation[5].

“Syrian textbooks praise the Holocaust as a positive event[6]. Distorting the fact that Jews call themselves the “chosen people,” the Syrian education system teaches children that Jews themselves are racist..”.

Here’s an article about Syria and the atmospherics of Syrian society, that appeared in 2010.

Written by an American Jew who, concealing his Jewishness, visited Syria and studied Arabic there, sometime in the 2000s.

    http://jewishrefugees.blogspot.com.au/2010/05/american-jew-in-damascus.html

    worth reading.

Something to bear in mind, also: Wafa Sultan, apostate from Islam, who has written a book about Islam, and its effects on the human mind, family and society, entitled “A God Who Hates”, is **Syrian**. Her experience of Islam was, specifically, within Syria. Syria which was, of course, during that time, dominated by the semi-Islamic (in fact, deemed heretical) Alawites, not by straight-down-the-line Sunni Muslims. It wasn’t Saudi Arabia or Iran. Yet…. the all-pervasive and deadly fruits of Islam were all around her, nevertheless.

Many would have viewed Syria as, all things considered, a ‘moderate’ Islamic country. Dr Sultan’s book tells us that even the most ‘moderate’ Islamic country – maintained in that condition *only* by a ruthless police state administered by persons adhering to a non-orthodox offshoot of Islam, is still ugly as hell.

“Written by an American Jew who, concealing his Jewishness, visited Syria and studied Arabic there, sometime in the 2000s.”

Who’s the author? (I’m kicking over the furniture; my printer took a dump)

(reading Ann Mayer’s book Islam and Human Rights. Just got through reading the article Human Rights Law and the Cultural Barriers in Islamiic States by Shafeea Riza.

Also to keep my self sharp, I love reading Islamic apologists: M. Amir Ali, Ph.D. He’s got a website with articles like “The Sword of Islam” (sword of truth dontcha’ know) “Jihad Explained” . And my personal favorite; “Human Rights in Islam”.

I didn’t refer to you by name. But you were one of the ones I was thinking of when I suggested to this Islamist shill to put his pro-Palestinian statements on Jihad Watch. I told him that compared to me and my knowledge of Islam the guys who post on JW are rocket scientists. I told him that “JW readers LOVE it when guys like you post their views”. Where you guys would eat him alive. He calls himself “TheNaturalust”. I simply referred to him as “Mr. Lust” in our back and forth on a You Tube video of Caroline Glick that he smeared. Saying “Start with Finkelsteins book. Use your highlighter and check the footnotes. See exactly how far you get trying to refute the scholarship it contains without completely losing your integrity and soul.”

“Glick? I should have known you would fall for that lunatic too. A one trick pony if I’ve ever heard one. Shame is her game and she is light of any knowledge of the politics, middle east mentality and realities of the conflict. Another Brooklyn settler…” blah, blah, blah.”

      And

“As far as Glick is concerned, I’ve caught her manipulating the data and history too but mainly she just comes across as quite ignorant with respect to politics and understanding of Middle Eastern culture. He proposal for a solution for the conflict is arrogant, racist, uninformed and basically just plain preposterous.”

I sent a response setting him straight on the facts regarding Glick. Haven’t heard back yet. Like I told Walter Sieruk above, these people are almost too easy.

This is standard when I plug Glick’s and Alan Dershowitz’s books :

Instead of reading these books and refuting them point by point this is usually the response I get from cowards with phony monikers in addition to name calling:

From Anti-Zealot: “Neither Uris nor Dershowitz have any credibility as historians. A rather selective choice of readings. I suspect Ms. Glick is equally unreliable”

Never any substance. Never saying exactly why they have no credibility. Just like when they call Robert Spencer and Pamela Geller “racists” without ever coming up with one single example of them EVER saying or writing anything “bigoted”, “hate-mongering” or…drum roll please…..”Raaaacist!”

And like I told Mr. Sieruk; Taking on these idiots is so much FUN! That even a dumb-ass construction worker can do it. heh-heh.
