The settlements are not really the obstacle to peace. They are on land set aside for the State of Israel by international agreement going back decades. They are on land, what’s more, that Israel won control of in war: Israel is the only country for which the right of conquest, universally recognized elsewhere, is not recognized. If the jihadis did not have the settlements to complain about, they would find some other pretext. The goal is to destroy Israel utterly, and the furor over the settlements is just one means to that end.
“Trump to Israel: Keep Building Settlements, Israel Today, May 3, 2016:
US Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump said in an interview with the UK’s Daily Mail on Tuesday that Israel should continue building settlements in Judea and Samaria.
Trump told the newspaper that if elected president, he’d love to negotiate a genuine peace, “not a peace that lasts for two weeks and they start launching missiles again,” between Israel and the Palestinians.
In the meantime, regarding Jewish settlements in the territories claimed by the Palestinians, Trump said Israel should “keep moving forward.”
Trump took the opportunity to again lambast President Barack Obama’s treatment of the Jewish state.
“Look, missiles were launched into Israel, and Israel, I think, never was properly treated by our country. I mean, do you know what that is, how devastating that is?” asked the real estate mogul.
Trump went on to note that while he doesn’t know Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that well, “I think I’d have a very good relationship with him” as the next American president.

It is not contradictory to understand the situation and a problem and still disagree with the approach others take towards the problem. A few people around here still need to get that through their heads. Trump gets the basics of the problem with Islam. He also gets how vital free speech is. And, having and valuing free speech, he is free to voice his opinion that he didn’t think that drawing cartoons making fun of the Muhammad character is the best way to approach the problem with Islam. That was his opinion at the time. Too bad if you don’t like it. Get over it.
And by the way, it is hard not to notice that there is no 2nd annual Draw Muhammad Contest. Now why is that?
marc says

Marc, you are quite right that Trump has been pretty bad on supporting free speech in the face of violent Muslim efforts to shut it down.
Don, you appear unaware that criticism of someone’s words or actions is *itself* freedom of speech.
Moreover, it is invaluable in estimating a candidate that one has as much information as possible–that includes both good and bad.
It is also inaccurate to imply that Jihad Watch has some sort of running feud with Trump–were that the case, you would not find the very positive story being featured here above.
Marc also spoke positively about this story.
The real question is how Trump stacks up to his opponent–certainly Hillary Clinton at this point. Her record on freed of speech is much worse:
“Hail to the Censor!”
Hillary Clinton’s long war on free speech
http://reason.com/archives/2016/02/03/hail-to-the-censor
(I have somewhat mixed feelings about the issue of encryption, and disagree with Reason Magazine on one or two niggling points, but this article gives an overall very good sense of Hillary’s disturbing impulse to censorship over the years)
I still find Trump’s castigation of freedom fighters Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer deeply concerning. That does not mean he is not the best candidate, or that I will not vote for him, and urge others to do so, as well.

It is good to hear this response to continue to build whatever they want on land under the control of Israel but Trump is still a long way from understanding the irreconcilable problems with the Muslims particularly relating to Israel otherwise he wouldn’t be setting himself up for failure in this conflict. With the America First attitude and policy I think he can work his way forward and achieve a better understanding regarding the conflict we share with Israel. However he has a lot of problems understanding freedom of speech when dealing with Islam and also regarding political criticism and attacks. His remarks regarding slander as it relates to him in particular have been troubling. The real mistake he and his fans are making is that diplomacy is only a tool of war when it involves national conflicts and nothing like anything he has done in the business/contractual arena. One of the most damaging faults with Obama is that he expected to do so much based on his “brilliant” diplomatic skills while he failed to first understand and appreciate that specific military action must be prepared and consistently applied when if he needsto walk away from the table, as Trump always says. I haven’t heard a different approach from Trump but only a belief that he is a better negotiator. The underlying problem is that for decades the diplomats have had too much influence because Obama was not the first to not understand the role of diplomacy. It is not an end in itself but only, “only” a tool or war when it involves international power conflicts. That covers everything with Islamic countries, Russia, China and N. Korea.
Sam Hawkins says
Well said! If elected President, Trump will be learning on the job. With zero experience as a politician. I would expect wild, unpredictable swings in U.S. policy … before the establishment “gets to him” and installs a minder as chief of staff, nat’l security advisor, Sec of State, SecDef … probably all of them.
Don’t underestimate the inertia in the power structure, from Foggy Bottom (anti-Israel to the core) to Saudi-financed “think tanks”. We’re in a Hundred Years’ War against Islam. It started 9/11/01 and currently, Islam is winning.
Dean says
Part of the problem suggested by my reference to several decades of mixing bilateral trade agreements with confrontational war diplomacy starts as you referenced in the State Dept. and seems part of a shared misunderstanding among elected officials and administrative figures and clearly part of their mentality. We are actually at war with Iran, Korea, and Russia as well as Isis even if shots are not being fired with the first 3. The only use for diplomacy is not as Obama has made it to do anything to avoid conflict, which is obviously unavoidable, but to set up a course of action to answer the aggression and let diplomats work out an acceptable compromise, much like Corleone’s offer that can’t be refused. Trump has not said anything that suggests that he understands this distinction with trade deals but “America First” is a good starting point for dealing with the aggression or threats of aggression that must be answered to avoid a larger conflict. The modern thinking is that we are not at war unless actively engaged on a specific battle field but peace with adversaries is actually nothing more than the moments between bullets so we are in different stages of war with every international opponent whether we want to acknowledge it or not. Isn’t it obvious that AL Qaeda had declared war on us that clueless leaders ignored until 9/11 but still today admin figures insist that we are not at war unless they say so. Thus we pave the way for Iran to get what they want while we were negotiating some kind of trade deal, including more than a 150 billion dollar down payment on a promise to be nice.

There is a significant difference between announcing one’s position and policies and giving advanced warnings about tactics thus informing the enemy. Clear positions advises allies as well as warns enemies of the consequences for continued transgression, but does not advise specifics about how the policies will be enforced or when. Trump uses this confusion or doesn’t understand it himself when he uses the secrecy excuse to avoid disclosing positions and policies because he either doesn’t have any or he is uncertain about their political popularity.

The Russians found out, and while neither Israel or Russia ever admitted anything- the sailors-all Russian- after being ” debriefed” never spoke of what happened
I think (no evidence) that Putin is doing an Ollie North in the Iran/Iraq War (Kissinger’s famous statement about that-a shame that both sides cannot lose). Selling Iran and Hezbollah defective weapons for top price. Just my views

We are at war with Islam and the people of Israel is our infantry. They are the front line of that war. In every war there is a decisive battle and the battle between Israel and the arabs is the decisive battle in our war against islam. If we lose this one, we will lose it all. This is the main reason to support Israel, everything else is optional.
That is why I consider everyone supporting the arabs against Israel to be the traitors and the enemies. I don’t give them the benefit of the doubt. Criticising Israel is an act of war against the free world. Nobody criticized the Soviet Union during the WWII. You don’t criticize your allies during the war, leave it for the time when the war is over.
Europe is lost. It is now American responsibility to carry on the art, history and culture of European legacy into the future. It is a noble task, but a difficult one, in which America will need a lot of help from the real friends and Israel seems to be the only one America can rely on.

They claimed that the two blue stripes (the Israeli flag is white, with a blue stripe near the top, one near the bottom and the Star Of David in the middle) represent The Nile and (not sure if said Tigris or Euphrates) Rivers, with israel ruling the entire area. Personally, I THINK THAT THAT WOULD BE GREAT- FOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT; PEACE,, STABILITY, ETC.

People need to get out of their heads that Israel was “created” in 1948 because it gives a completely wrong narrative to the actual history of the conflict. Israel’s borders were drawn and created in 1917. They got independence in 1948. In 1921, when the first “Palestinians” began disrespecting those borders and pouring in from Saudi Arabia and Egypt, 70% of Israel’s borders got diverted into the creation of Jordan to be handed to these foreign Sunni occupiers in the hope that they would stop the mass-migration, the jihad, the hatred, the attacks. But they never stopped. The largest flow of these foreign Sunni Arabs took place in the 1930’s and has been continuous every since. The illegals who poured in from Egypt got cornered into Gaza and the illegals who stormed the country from Saudi Arabia [before it was even a country] and its neighbours got cornered in the West Bank. Prior to the formation of the borders of the nation of Israel the Sunni’s had no interest in the land. Nor did it have any water, except in parts bordering Jerusalem. Besides, historic records show the majority landowners were actually Lebanese Christians who eventually and happily sold their land to the new Israeli settlers. No Muslim ownership at all.

Trump the deal-maker, lured by the prospect of the ultimate deal, needs to hear Kedar explain to him exactly why *any* and *all* ‘deals’ ever made between an Infidel party, on the one hand, and a Muslim party, on the other, will only ever be a snare and a delusion – a *deadly* delusion – for the Infidel side. Starting with Mohammed and the Meccans and the Treaty of Hudaybiyya.
It is because of this that the ‘peace process’ needs to be scrapped in favour of making whatever decisions will allow Israel – **or any other part of the Lands of the Infidels** – to defend itself effectively against the neverending Jihad.
Trump needs someone to explain to him that what we – not just Israel, but the entire Infidel world – are fighting is what Judaism calls the ‘milhemeth mitzvah’, the obligatory war.
Because there is NOTHING we could ever do, short of total surrender and either conversion to Islam or the acceptance of near-slave Dhimmi status, that would cause the Jihad to stop. If we wish to remain free and Infidel we *have* to fight, and go on fighting.
Here are two pieces by an Israeli who has *understood*. In the first piece she recounts a meeting in Jerusalem in which Ayaan Hirsi Ali, apostate from Islam, laid it on the line for the naive and deluded ‘peace processers’. She told them flat out that because of the nature of Islam, “even if you give them [the Muslim Arabs] Jerusalem **there will be no peace**.”

Things You Don’t Want Your Kids to Know
“… Anyway, we talked about the concept of an obligatory war and that’s when Shmulik knocked me off my feet (not in the literal sense, of course) – “every day here [in Israel] is a milhemet mitzvah,” he said.
“And before I could adequately process that, he told me what I’ve always known, and something I wish my children didn’t, “they want to destroy us completely – so every day is a milhemet mitzvah,” he concluded.
“**An obligatory war is one that is fought because there is no choice – because if you don’t fight, your enemies will. ** {my emphasis – dda}
“The Arabs (more properly – the MUSLIMS – and not only the Arab Muslims attacking Israelis, it is and always has been Muslims of every description attacking whatever Infidels were and are within reach – dda)
“They will fight without honor, without bravery, and sneak off to murder what and when they can.
“An obligatory war is fought against the Samir Kuntars of the world, the Hassan Nassrallahs, and yes, even the ones who claim to be moderate in English, while calling for our destruction in Arabic. These are the ones who would kill a father in front of his little girl, and then murder her as well with their bare hands, or murder a three-month-old baby girl, or stab a three-year-old in the heart.
“**An obligatory war is one that is fought against an enemy that does not want peace and will not let you live in peace, no matter what you do, no matter what you give.** (my emphasis – dda)
“Though the Torah speaks of absolving a man in his first year of marriage from going to war, it also explains that in a milhemet mitzvah, even the groom should leave his wedding canopy (chuppah). This is what Aharon Karov did in the Gulf War, when he was seriously wounded. This is what others did – the soldier who missed his son’s circumcision ceremony; fathers whose sons and daughters were born while they were in Gaza.
“Yes, Israel is involved in a daily war that is obligatory and unavoidable. And yes, Shmulik is right, it is a daily fight, a daily war that obligates us to defend ourselves.”
And that war is not only in Israel but everywhere that Muslims are waging war against the Infidels nearby… it is in Northern Nigeria, northern Cameroon, Central African Republic, and Uganda and Kenya and Tanzania, just for starters. It is in Belgium and France, even if the people there don’t yet realize it. There is *nothing*, short of conversion to Islam or submission as near-slave Dhimmis, that could satisfy the Muslim attackers. Except that even then you are not actually ‘safe’, because you can never be muslim *enough*, and the Dhimmi can NEVER grovel low enough, suffer enough humiliation and degradation to satisfy his Muslim overlords’ depraved appetite for the humiliation and degradation of defenceless human beings.

In the meantime: every Trump supporter here should make a copy of two classic articles on Islam, both written in the mid-1990s, that, in addition to the items I have just linked, and Mr Ibrahim’s articles on Islamic deception, seem to me to sum up pretty much everything the sensible Infidel general and politician and diplomat needs to know about Islam and the Ummah, broadly speaking. People need to see the big, big picture and then act accordingly and watch as everything starts to fall into place.

A Blast From the Past: Conor Cruise O’Brien, in 1995, Discussing the Jihad in Algeria
And an equally-astute and very scholarly American writer named Patrick L Moore, with an interesting insight into the origins of the term “cold war”. It was, it seems, used by the Spanish to describe the process of eviction of Muslims from Iberia. “Guerra Fria.”

FROM “COLD WAR” TO GUERRA FRIA?
Patrick L. Moore
Whoever he was, this man had done his homework. He distils a mass of reading of all the key sources and scholarly works into a piercingly-lucid essay.
These articles need to be circulated by *every* American jihadwatcher who has decided to vote for Trump. And even if you haven’t so decided. Set them circulating so that his supporters will read them. Even if *he* doesn’t see them, make sure his *staffers* and supporters do. Get them out there.
the man who wrote a book called “The Art of the Deal” and who *also* spent his teen years in a *military* college, needs to know about the Treaty of Hudaybiyya, and hudna. He needs to know about al wala-wa-al-bara and why ‘deals’ with mohammedans must never, never, never be trusted… and why smart infidels should *avoid* making ‘deals’ with Mohammedans, in the first place.
So far as I can see from recorded history, the deal that works with mohammedans is this: “You break-a into my house? You want-a rape my wife, my daughter? You want to take my kid and sell that kid as a slave? You want-a to steal-a my stuff? You want-a to poison my dog, smash my stuff? You want to cut my throat?… So…. **I hit you over the head with a ten-tonne hammer, and when your bruvvas come after you with the same idea – rape, murder, enslavement, vandalism – then I hit *them*, too, and I am gonna keep on hitting till they’re all squashed flat or they stop coming. You not want to get hit? Then **stay outta my house and stay on your side of the fence**… and you better be sure that I am watching that fence day and night and I am building it high and it’s electrified and the ground is full of mines and there are big dogs prowling up and down and there’s a moat with alligators in it…”.
common sense says
Trump must secure the presidency first, leftist polls are over inflated to reflect a Clinton machine victory. When the GE hits in November Trump will win big.
I have good friends from Isreal and I swear they understand human nature better than anyone else I have known. Their acceptance of me into their fold was amazing.
It is a great nation (Isreal) with good people and Trump will be smart to have his staff such as Carson, Christie potentially Rubio, Gingrich? Paul? and others to use their collective powers of objective observation based on reality to inform Trump of what Isreal and the western world face.
We all know that Islam only stops when forced, only regroup and attack again especially when faced with superior forces. Hence the so called refugee migrations and the off the chart rapes in Europe.
dumbledoresarmy says
He needs Allen West on his team, as well.
West is a *soldier*. West has served in Iraq, in the badlands of the dar al Islam.
And West has done his homework: West *knows* about Poitiers/ Tours and Charles Martel, Malta, Vienna, the Barbary Pirates.
Allen West for secretary of Defence.

Common Sense–Paul?
The son of a man who calls for term limits, but has (had? did he retire?) been in the House of Reps some 30 years– and sponsored ONE BILL- (it passed) (donating closed federal property to the local government.
And, whose father supports (sees nothing wrong) with Iran getting nuclear weapons?
And Rand Paul, upon election to the Senate, first two items- file for re-election and file for pension.
And, upset and goes on social media when a Homeland Security person did not recognize him, and (horror of horrors) made him go through a metal screening at an airport, just like us peons.
I cannot see what he can bring to anything- and -when he was a candidate, I think his poll numbers showed it–early.
Kepha says
The fact that the USA went for One-Big-Awful-Mistake,-America twice makes me wonder if Trump can pull of a win in November. Shrillary Shroooooo has armies of organized activists and the whole MSM in her corner. Further, a lot of conservatives, such as myself, have deep misgivings about Trump, even if we’ll probably hold our noses and vote for him.
I’m glad he’s standing with Israel. But Trump is a very Protean actor and has few, if any morals.

Kepha says
My guess is that since The Donald left off being a Friend of Billary and decided to shoot for the moon rather than facilitate their next attempt to steal the White House China, the MSM will never say a nice thing about him. Frankly, Trump’s willingness to stiff investors, the fraud of his Trump University, his use of eminent domain to drive widows from their homes to build his casinos, and his acceptance off the predation–oops, sexual–revolution disgusts me no end. But I recognize that, in contrast to Shrillary Shrooooo’s prissy sanctimoniousness, The Donald does not pretend to be on moral high ground. This is why I’ll probably hold my nose and vote for him come November.
Oliver says
Kepha– we are not seeking to elect a keeper of the public morals, or a church leader.
This was posted before:
THREE CANDIDATES: FOR WHOM WOULD YOU VOTE.
CANDIDATE ONE. BORN TO WEALTH. CHAIN SMOKER. MARRIED HIS FIRST COUSIN. HAD MISTRESSES, SOMETIMES MORE THEN ONE AT A TIME. DRANK DAILY OR ALMOST DAILY.
CANDIDATE TWO: BORN TO WEALTH. DEPORTED FROM SEVERAL COUNTRIES, AS A TROUBLE MAKER. SMOKED. HEAVY DRINKER-SOMETIMES AS MUCH AS A BOTTLE OF BOOZE A DAY.
CANDIDATE THREE: BORN POOR. WAR HERO. WROTE A BOOK, TRANSLATED INTO NUMEROUS LANGUAGES. DID NOT SMOKE OR DRINK. WAS FAITHFUL.
———————————————————————————————————————————————–
VOTE THEN LOOK WHO THEY WERE.
————————————————————————————————————————————
1. F.D.R.
2. SIR WINSTON CHURCHILL
3. ADOLPH HITLER.
Sometimes, the obvious is wrong. Sexual morality ( and or other “moral behavior”) doesn’t always translate into being a decent person.

It’s too bad that his gaffs and eccentric, thoughtless pronouncements obscure the common sense he is so capable of showng.

While Shrillary Shroooooooooo delivers her idiocy and bad judgment with articulate aplomb.
David, Thailand says
“They (the settlements) are on land set aside for the State of Israel by international agreement going back decades.”
Most people that are still capable of thinking for themselves already know this, and though it would make little difference to a mad world going proudly madder, why doesn’t Israel produce the documents confirming the ‘agreement’ to the international community?
Mike says
Netanyahu is actually not that difficult a character to deal with. His main “flaw” is that he’s unwilling to have Israel commit suicide.
Note how he manages to get along with a diverse crowd of leaders, including Putin, despite having different interests.
Obama is the one that is a problem!
Peggy says
An excellent sign for better times.
Trump gets it.
FuturePresident says
That’s it in 24 years I’m running for president. If ISIS and the Talban still exist I will destroy them and do what Bush and Obama should have done, occupy the Middle East! The Middle East is a rats nest full of murderes and rapists that the world has ignored for too long. I promise that this will be a good thing. We will give them medicine and safety. The military will kill the radicals and protect the women children and non-Muslims and show other Muslims that living with those different than you isn’t a sin. The rest of the worlds opinion be damned!
No more genital mutilation
No more honor killings
No more Christians and Jews fearing for their lives
No more girls as young as six getting married
No more rape victims being executed or imprisoed for “forced adultery”
No more Sharia
The occupation will last fifty years, by then freedom will be embraced in the Middle East

Who did Israel stole land from? The Jews living there for millenniums? Anyway, nice Freudian lapse, Ahmed.

This was in reply to a post by “Randy” saying “Isreal and America was made on stolen lands“. It’s gone now, so nevermind.

Sorry guys, randy, ahmed and abbas couldn’t stay, these disingenuous trolls can’t be argued with, if you are going to debate them, best to quote the section you are answering, so the discussion doesn’t get too broken when the ban hammer falls.

I wouldn’t take anything coming out of his mouth neither literally nor seriously. The man has contradicted himself so many times on so many topics, including Israel, where he said he would be neutral between Fatah-Hamas & Israel, that there is just no way of keeping track anymore.
He is a leftist disguised as conservative under the veneer of “telling it like it is”.
