Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

FBI training material purge likely caused agency to drop the ball on Orlando jihad mass murderer

Jun 13, 2016 9:29 am By Robert Spencer

On October 19, 2011, Farhana Khera of Muslim Advocates wrote a letter to John Brennan, who was then the Assistant to the President on National Security for Homeland Security and Counter Terrorism. The letter was signed not just by Khera, but by the leaders of virtually all the significant Islamic groups in the United States: 57 Muslim, Arab, and South Asian organizations, many with ties to Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood, including the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), the Muslim American Society (MAS), the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA), Islamic Relief USA; and the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC).

The letter denounced what it characterized as U.S. government agencies’ “use of biased, false and highly offensive training materials about Muslims and Islam.” Khera complained that my books could be found in “the FBI’s library at the FBI training academy in Quantico, Virginia”; that a reading list accompanying a powerpoint presentation by the FBI’s Law Enforcement Communications Unit recommended my book The Truth About Muhammad; and that in July 2010 I “presented a two-hour seminar on ‘the belief system of Islamic jihadists’ to the Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF) in Tidewater, Virginia,” and “presented a similar lecture to the U.S. Attorney’s Anti-Terrorism Advisory Council, which is co-hosted by the FBI’s Norfolk Field Office.”

These were supposed to be terrible things because I was bigoted and hateful. But many of the examples Khera adduced of “bigoted and distorted materials” involved statements that were not actually bigoted and distorted at all, but simply accurate. What was distorted was Khera’s representation of them. For instance, Khera stated: “A 2006 FBI intelligence report stating that individuals who convert to Islam are on the path to becoming ‘Homegrown Islamic Extremists,’ if they exhibit any of the following behavior: ‘Wearing traditional Muslim attire’; ‘Growing facial hair’; ‘Frequent attendance at a mosque or a prayer group’; ‘Travel to a Muslim country’; ‘Increased activity in a pro-Muslim social group or political cause.'”

But the FBI intelligence report Khera purported to be describing didn’t actually say that converts to Islam were necessarily “on the path” to becoming “extremists” if they wore traditional Muslim attire, grew facial hair, and frequently attended a mosque; it simply included these behaviors among a list of fourteen indicators to “identify an individual going through the radicalization process.” Others included “travel without obvious source of funds’; “suspicious purchases of bomb making paraphernalia or weapons”; “large transfer of funds, from or to overseas”; and “formation of operational cells.” Khera selectively quoted and misrepresented the list to give the impression that the FBI was saying that devout observance of Islam led inevitably and in every case to “extremism.”

Despite the factual accuracy of the material about which they were complaining, the Muslim groups signing the letter demanded that the task force “purge all federal government training materials of biased materials”; “implement a mandatory re-training program for FBI agents, U.S. Army officers, and all federal, state and local law enforcement who have been subjected to biased training”; and more—to ensure that all that law enforcement officials would learn about Islam and jihad would be what the signatories wanted them to learn.

Brennan assured Khera that all her demands would be met: “Your letter requests that ‘the White House immediately create an interagency task force to address this problem,’ and we agree that this is necessary.” He then detailed other specific actions being undertaken, including “collecting all training materials that contain cultural or religious content, including information related to Islam or Muslims.” In reality this material wouldn’t just be “collected”; it would be purged of anything that Farhana Khera and others like her found offensive—that is, any honest discussion of how Islamic jihadists use Islamic teachings to justify violence.

Farhana Khera

“Did FBI Training Material Purge Cause Agency To Drop The Ball On Orlando Shooter?,” by Kerry Picket, Daily Caller, June 12, 2016:

Could the FBI’s purge of training material relating to Islamic terrorism have led to the agency dropping the ball on Florida nightclub shooter Omar Mateen?

Mateen, who called 911 and pledged his allegiance to ISIS Saturday night, killed 50 and wounded dozens of others at a gay nightclub in Orlando was interviewed by the FBI for possible links to terrorism multiple times.

The FBI was the target of criticism when it was found that no action was taken when it was discovered that 2013 Boston bombers Tamerlan and Dzokhar Tsarnaev were known to the FBI, when Russia sent a warning out about them.

Additionally, 2012 Fort Hood shooter Major Nidal Hassan was never investigated by the FBI, a report said, because of political correctness….

A law enforcement source told The Daily Beast they declared Mateen a “person of interest” while an active investigation went on about him. The agency opened files on Mateen, whose parents are from Afghanistan, in 2013 and 2014, but felt there was nothing the FBI could follow up on.

“He’s a known quantity,” the law enforcement source said. “He’s been on the radar before.”

However, the FBI’s training on handling possible Islamic terror suspects was turned upside down five years ago, when the Obama administration began a purge of training material that would remove references to Islam that Muslim subject matter experts, hired by the Justice Department, found offensive.

By May 2012, the FBI was criticized for purging such material and denied that it had created its own politically correct counter-terrorism dictionary after Patrick Poole at PJ Media produced the document showing the FBI’s official lexicon.

Texas Republican Rep. Louie Gohmert, during a floor speech, also mentioned the “disappearing language” since the 9/11 Commission Report was published, which, unlike the FBI 2009 lexicon, referenced “Islam,” “jihad,” “Muslim,” etc.

“Could the FBI’s purge of training material relating to Islamic terrorism have led to the agency dropping the ball on Florida nightclub shooter Omar Mateen?”

Could a class action suit against the negligent authorities, establish a causal/judicial link?

Could that causal/judicial link be, oh so obviously extended to Farhana Khera of Muslim Advocates?

Why can’t the whole stinking mess, from the rotting head of obuMBoy (and especially ERIC FOLDER) down be autopsied in full public view, and the GUILTY parties indicted for treason or crimes against humanity?

What could the likes of cair say – “We were only following orders.” – when they were leading the warfare charge against the other CIVILIZED 98% of the population?

Not all the crocodile tears in the world will wash the blood of thousands of INNOCENTS from cair’s sinister hands.

Oh I so agree! A class action Suit for every American including Muslim Americans so they can’t cry “unfair!”, but have the cash reward go to any family member who lost a loved one to Jihad/Islam. And bring in co-conspirators like all the Islamists groups associated with the MB and the COUNTRIES where the MB is involved and all Mosques associated with the perpetrators.

I could be done. It needs to be done.

When we quote from mullahs, imams, grand imams, muftis, ayatollahs and Islamic theologians who declare that Islam teaches jihad warfare against disbelievers, the Muslim apologists call us ‘bigots’.

It is alright by them if those Islamic Sharia experts say that Islam teaches jihad-terrorism, but we must not quote the Muslims making those jihad declarations.

  5. mortimer says

    Jun 13, 2016 at 9:54 am

If journalists understand Islamic source texts they would be able to challenge apologists like Farhana Khera of Muslim Advocates.

Informed journalists would simply quote Islam’s top authorities on jihad and ask Farhana Khera, “What is wrong with the declaration of Dr. XXX from Al Azhar University? Is Dr. XXX distorting Islam? Is Dr. XXX teaching heresy?”

I was amazed by the shallowness and extreme leftist bias of the students. These are now the heads of newsrooms. The essence of journalism is superficiality. Well, there are now a bunch of families and friends of the Orlando Muslim murder spree who have learned, the hard way, about Islam and its objective to subject the world to Islam. In Arabic, Islam means to submit.

Spencer’s books “biased, false and highly offensive”? Yeah, I guess, but only if you think that’s a good description of balanced historical study and scholarly inquiry. I read “The Truth About Muhammad” about 3 years ago, it read fair and intelligent to me. Ya know, anyone with muhammad’s character today would be considered a dangerous psychopath and serial killer. And if he had a large following and they too were killing and warring according to his directives then nobody would be making excuses that it’s a religion. They’d shut that sh*t down in a heartbeat if they could. But instead we have idiots out there making a debate out of this, trying their best to convince the world that islam is just a harmless “religion of peace.” It’s all those other muslims that don’t represent islam that are to blame, they’re the ones that are distorting islam’s “slay the infidel” into…um….slay the infidel. Anyway, a hijack is in there someplace, unless you’re a rational thinker.

It seems reasonable to suppose that obama’s purging of the FBI’s study materials could result in more death of innocents. If law enforcement cannot fully address the motives and causes of muslim terror then they operate half-cocked. I hope Trump is the Pit Bull he appears to be. A president that cares about our culture and values will be a huge shock to America.

The letter blames the FBI’s methods (in 2006) based on its intelligence reports as biased and bigoted when:

….individuals who convert to Islam are on the path to becoming…

“Homegrown Islamic Extremists” if they exhibit any of the following behavior:

    “Wearing traditional Muslim attire”
    “Growing facial hair”
“Frequent attendance at a mosque or a prayer group”
    “Travel to a Muslim country”

People in USA, West can’t even name the enemy that is killing them left to right let alone of fighting them. They don’t know what hit them on 9/11 and still hitting them today. They have no idea who they are up against and eventually they will be destroyed their very low demography, by their destructive liberal values and by the bloody islam and muslims they love and respect.

Worse still, they’re AFRAID of naming the enemy, lest they get accused of bigotry and racism. And this enemy didn’t just appear on 9/11 – it has been around for 1,400 years, but 50 years of political correctness has done its damage. This is how the West has hobbled itself ever since the Six Day War of 1967.

I think people would not care that much about being slandered as bigots toward Islam, if slander was all we had to deal with. What really keeps most people from criticizing totalitarian Islam publicly is not the slander, but the possibility of having one’s face spread all over the internet as a permanent record, so that one has a target on one’s back for the rest of one’s life for jihadists to go after. If not for Islamic totalitarian violence, many people would easily stand up to those shouting phony arguments about supposed bigotry. It’s not bigotry to call an expansionist violent totalitarian system what it is.

I guess I can agree that the enemy of the American people is Obama, Islam and his Muslim Brotherhood. So, why did John Brennan cave? John Brennan was at the time the Assistant to the President on National Security for Homeland Security and Counter Terrorism ? Apparently, The Truth About Muhammad is the truth and innocent lives would have been saved if John Brennan didn’t cave in to the Muslim Brotherhood. The Obama administration began a purge of training material that would remove references to Islam that Muslim subject matter experts, hired by the Justice Department, found offensive. Obama is a Muslim no doubt in my mind, Obama continually sucks up to the Muslim culture and should be prosecuted for high crimes and misdemeanors for deliberately putting the American people in danger. Forget criticizing Obama & Clinton for refusing to say the words “Islamic terrorist.” Intentionally ignoring your enemies’ motivating ideology to the point of purging factually accurate (and manifestly useful) material from training materials provided to federal law enforcement agencies–absolutely inexcusable to the point of being treasonous. Someone should start SCREAMING about this. I don’t really like Trump, but (in the words of another poster) he at least has a pulse…

In his book, Willful Blindness,” Andrew McCarthy points out that there is no Constitutional right to be free of suspicion for following a dangerous belief system. That’s true of neo-Nazis and white supremacists–these people are and should be closely watched, and indeed “profiled” by law enforcement. However, when it comes to Islam, the current administration either can’t or wrap their collective heads around the fact that many “mainstream” Islamic sects are every bit as dangerous, if not more so. As McCarthy points out, this religion reliably turns out jihadis by the thousands (and likely sympathizers/enablers a by the tens if not hundreds of millions. And the answer is to deprive law enforcement of information required to recognize and assess the threat….Absolutely disgraceful!

IF this naivety continues, and our leaders fail (like Europe) to protect us from radical Islam, our way of life in America, and America itself is doomed. I am not sure it is not too late, already.
