Inside my copy of Oriana Fallaci’s The Force of Reason is an envelope, on which is written in Fallaci’s inimitable and elegant handwriting, “PERSONAL. For Robert Spencer from O. Fallaci.” Oriana included this request in the note inside the envelope: “Please don’t let somebody else write about ‘The Force of Reason’ and me. Do it yourself. Will you?”
Yes, Oriana, I will. And now the time has come for me to do so – when you have been so abundantly proven right. And so I wrote this pamphlet:
Here is a precis of the pamphlet from the David Horowitz Freedom Center:
Robert Spencer, the editor of the Center’s Jihad Watch Program and Fallaci’s personal friend in her last years, has written this pamphlet on the legacy of this great defender of the West and its values. The late Oriana Fallaci became a leading international journalist in the 1970’s and 1980’s with her interviews of figures such as Yasser Arafat and Indira Gandhi. She was always irreverent in the face of authoritarianism and once even angrily ripped off the chador she was required to wear to see the Ayatollah Khoumeni in the middle of their interview. But after 9/11, her Leftist allies turned on her one after another when she directed her anger toward radical Islam in a prophetic trilogy of books written just before her death. In them, Fallaci gave a final warning cry as to how Western societies were committing suicide by not taking up arms against the jihadis seeking to destroy them.
Now that this suicide is blazingly obvious, Oriana Fallaci deserves the gratitude of all free people for sounding the alarm, at immense personal cost.

The left turned on her because they viewed muslims as their soldiers against the Christians that they hate so much. the traitorous left in North America and Europe can’t get enough muslims who will vote for the liberal free stuff parties and kill Christians and Jews.

We take often take miraculous manifestations of human genius — like Oriana Fallaci — for granted when they are alive.
Only after they have been gone for years do we fully appreciate the predictive contributions made long before the future becomes present.
Pamela Geller, Robert Spencer, David Wood, Bill Warner, and the other dozen or so counter-jihadists risking their lives to wake up clueless lazy fellow citizens are our current equivalents of the late Oriana Fallaci.

Very well said. I have one of her books, “The Force of Reason”, and I thanks to this article, I plan on reading more of Oriana’s writing. She is definitely missed.
Many thanks

I’ve read “The Rage and The Pride” (2002) by Fallaci. All JW’s should read it. In my copy the following is a note I wrote on the first page after reading the book: “Islam is all about destroying anyone and anything that isn’t Islam.” – Nov 12, 2006.
She wrote “Rage/Pride” after 9/11. The biographical text calls her a “modern Cassandra.”
I urge you all to get “The Rage and The Pride,” too. It’s brilliant.

seems to be missing some information that a book buyer would want: how many pages long is this work? how is it bound? what is the page size? can it be bought anonymously? Is this information findable somewhere?

It’s a brief pamphlet. Bound by staples.

While in that free-for-all jungle, Wikipedia, the rabid anti-Fallaci forces quickly embedded lots of “controversial” reactions to her ideas:
These Lefties and Islamozombies or fellow travelers have NO SHAME – even making the point that:
“Her obituary in The Guardian stated she was “notorious for her Islamophobia”.[33] ”
(Karen Armstrong doesn’t get a “Controversy” sub-heading in her bio on Wiki)
This is the uphill battle in pop culture we face…

“I have put the finger on the nerve of something: the Muslims’ immigration, which grows and grows without inserting itself in our way of life, without accepting our way of life and, on the contrary, trying to impose on us its way of life …. And people in Europe are so exasperated by the arrogance of most of these ‘invaders’ and being blackmailed with the unfair term ‘racist’ when they protest, that there was a kind of thirst for a book like this …
“You know in the turning of history there are, at times, a brusque turn,” she said. “Consider all the steps of history. I’m afraid that we are now at one of those turns. Not because we want it. Because it is imposed on us. It is not this time a revolution, like the American Revolution or the French Revolution …. It is a counterrevolution! Alas. And it is against us. I am kind of happy not to have ahead of me a very long future which will confirm my prediction. But you will live all of it.”
“The Rage of Oriana Fallaci” George Gurley, NY Observer Jan. 23, 2003
and when the NY Times called La Fallaci a ”professional provocateur” in the wake of The Rage & The Pride, her good friend Isabella Rossellini wrote “Instead of thanking Ms. Fallaci for defending and praising America, you chose to insult her. As an Italian who has become an American citizen, I felt profoundly embarrassed and ashamed by it.” See? A smart movie star.
The insults and threats and defamation never stopped, but it is Fallaci who will be remembered and honored, not her detractors. She got it right, they got it wrong. She told the truth, not they.
And with all “The Apocalypse” impending, there were rays of encouragement from her, such as this passage from “The Force of Reason” I’m happily reposting:
“Have we already lost, in the West, or not? Perhaps not. I say so having in my mind’s eyes the glorious show that 2004 New Year’s Eve the city of New York offered the world in Times Square. Many were afraid of a nuclear attack, that New Year’s Eve in New York…the city had never lived in such an alarm…I didn’t expect to see many people…Times Square had seemed to me an immense open-air prison. Checkpoints, watchtowers, metal-detector arches. Roadblocks, crash barriers…yet no less than a million people stayed there. The square wasn’t enough to hold the crowd…but the finest thing wasn’t even that. It was the joyousness, at the same time unrestrained and calculated, which electrified them. The provocative insolence with which everybody reacted to the risk of another September 11.
“I savoured the salt of hope. The same hope I feel when I look at the photos transmitted by the probe seeking life on Mars, while looking at them I think: we cannot lose. We cannot lose because Islam is a pond. And a pond is a cavity full of stagnant water. Water that never moves, never runs, never purifies itself, never becomes clean, never flows toward the sea and reaches the sea. In fact the pond pollutes easily, and even as a watering pool for cattle is worthless. It poisons, it kills. The pond does not love Life. It loves Death. Which is why kamikazes’ mothers celebrate their sons’ death and happily shout Allah-akbar…the West instead is a river. My home is a river. And rivers are courses of living water. Water that runs, that flows, and in flowing it purifies itself, renews itself…It loves Life with all the good and the evil that it contains. Which is why our mothers weep when their children die. And why we seek Life everywhere.”
{that’s the ray of encouragement…}
But– “I saw all that in New York’s Times Square, not in London’s Trafalgar Square or in Paris’ Place de la Concorde or in Madrid’s Plaza Mayor or in Berlin’s Alexanderplatz.
“Don’t be fooled by their explosives…they kill us to break our spirit. To intimidate us, to discourage us, to blackmail us… their aim is to destroy our souls, our ideas, our achievements, our dreams. Meaning to subjugate once more the West. And the real face of the West is not America. It is Europe. Today’s Troy burns in Europe, not in America. Thus to extinguish that fire takes, first of all and above all, Europe. But how to count on a Europe which has become Eurabia, which welcomes and favors the enemy, which even grants him the vote!? How to trust a Europe which to that enemy sells itself like a whore? Living takes passion. Refusing to submit, to comply, to surrender, means living with passion. But Europe does not refuse at all to submit, to comply, to surrender.”

I was a fan of Oriana many years ago and supported her turmoil with the PC Italian government. Cassandra is a perfect pseudonym for Oriana the Oracle of Freedom. My fiction book’s sequel will pay a tribute to her when Joshua Penn uses her name with his nom de guerre, Charles Martel on the Islamists that he assassinates to remove the militant ideology that operates under the guise of a religion.

I would very much like to read your pamphlet, Fallaci being fearless and true, but your shipping cost to Canada, at $20 is giving me pause. If it’s a pamphlet, put it in an envelope and put a $2 stamp on it.
