Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Pakistan’s former President asks the U.S. to “trust” Pakistan

Jun 11, 2016 2:33 pm By Robert Spencer

As if, Zardari. Trust Pakistan? The Pakistan whose ISI spy service controlled Osama bin Laden’s Abbottabad compound? And that funded a deadly attack on a CIA compound in Afghanistan? And that planned jihad terror attacks on US and Israeli consulates in India? And that has aided the Taliban and the Haqqani network?

Qur’an 3:28 warns Muslims not to take unbelievers as “friends or helpers,” “unless that you but guard yourselves against them.” This is a foundation of the idea that believers may legitimately deceive unbelievers when under pressure. The word used for “guard” in the Arabic is tuqatan, the verbal noun from taqiyyatan — hence the increasingly familiar term taqiyya.

Ibn Kathir says that the phrase “unless that you but guard yourselves against them” means that “believers who in some areas or times fear for their safety from the disbelievers” may “show friendship to the disbelievers outwardly, but never inwardly. For instance, Al-Bukhari recorded that Abu Ad-Darda’ said, ‘We smile in the face of some people although our hearts curse them.’ Al-Bukhari said that Al-Hasan said, ‘The Tuqyah [taqiyya] is allowed until the Day of Resurrection.” Abu Ad-Darda’ was a companion of Muhammad.

The 20th-century Pakistani Islamic scholar and politician Syed Abul Ala Maududi wrote this about Qur’an 3:28: “This means that is lawful for a believer, helpless in the grip of the enemies of Islam and in imminent danger of severe wrong and persecution, to keep his faith concealed and to behave in such a way as to create the impression that he is on the same side as his enemies.”

Sounds like Pakistan to me.

“Former President Asif Ali Zardari Asks US To ‘Trust’ Pakistan,” Press Trust of India, June 11, 2016:

Islamabad: Former president Asif Ali Zardari has asked the US to “trust” and “mend ties” with Pakistan to defeat terrorism, amid tension between the two countries over an American drone strike that killed the Afghan Taliban chief in Baluchistan.

Mr Zardari, who served as president from 2008 to 2013, also challenged those US Congressmen who doubt the intention of Pakistan and its role and commitment to take action against the dreaded Haqqani network, which is blamed for a number of attacks against American interests in Afghanistan.

“I would challenge any faction in Congress that holds this view to come to Pakistan and bear witness to our solidarity and resolve,” Mr Zardari wrote in an article in Chicago Tribune.

He said in order to defeat terrorism the US and Pakistan should raise the trust level and mend ties.

“Doubters should know that Pakistan has lost nearly 5,000 troops and many thousands of civilians in this fight. These losses were sustained in offensives against terrorist networks in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas – a long-time US priority,” The Nation quoted him as saying in the article.

The Pakistan People’s Party leader also criticised the US for blocking the sale of eight F-16 jets to Pakistan and said the decision will be counter-productive and self-defeating.

The US Congress has blocked funding for the jets citing Pakistan’s unsatisfactory actions against the Haqqani network.

Mr Zardari said the US must play its role along with Pakistan to combat terrorism. “Pakistan is ready and willing to continue its role at the front lines of the war against terrorism. But the US has a part to play in assuring our ability to fight and win on the battlefield.”

His comments came amid tension between Pakistan and the US following the May 21 drone strike that killed Mullah Akhtar Mansour deep inside Pakistan.

Prime Minister’s Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz yesterday told a high-level US delegation in Islamabad that the drone attack “was not only a violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty and breach of the principles of the United Nation’s Charter, but has also vitiated bilateral ties”….

Mr Zardari said as the talks between the delegation and the Pakistani government continue, the US should reaffirm sale of fighter aircraft and with it faith in an indispensable partnership in defence of civilisation.

He said the war against terrorism has not only cost Pakistan human lives but has also taken the country towards economic crisis.

“Three decades of war has also meant slower economic growth and foreign direct investment than that of other developing countries whose borders are not active war zones. These are among the hidden opportunity costs of our commitment to fighting terrorism,” he wrote.

In other words, send more money.

It’s estimated that American govt. has provided the Islamic State of Pakistan in excess of $40 billion since the time of Egyptian, Saudi and Emirati Muslims extremely violently attacking America on September 11, 2001.

One may say that $40 billion — in more than 10 years’ time-frame — is a very good American investment in the financially and economically bankrupt Islamic State of Pakistan, since if American govt. withdraws its fundings the Islamic State of Pakistan will start selling its nuclear weapons of mass destruction to Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and to the entire global market where portable nuclear devices can be bought and sold for strategic usage!

Pakistanian govt. tried to get financial supports from the People’s Republic of China at various points in the past by enticing Chinese investments in Pakistanian infrastructure projects; however, Beijing has always been only interested in selling Chinese-made products to Pakistanians in exchange of American dollars and Beijing shows no interest in wasting hard-earned Chinese foreign currencies for the betterment of Pakistanian failed economy.

So, Pakistanians are left with Saudi Arabia, Great Britain and America for financial and military needs.

Saudi Arabian govt. heavily spends money for mosques and madrassas inside the Islamic State of Pakistan so that Pakistanian school-age kids can learn al’Quran and practice soon’Nah effectively.

After all, the govt. of the “Land of the Pure” knows that American and British governments love Islam and Saudi Arabia is where every faithful Pakistanian Muslim must go at least once a year if possible.

      Jun 11, 2016 at 3:19 pm

Oops! I forgot to tell my readers that world’s faithful Muslims believe that mosques and madrassas are where all Islamic scientific discoveries take place.

So, Saudi Arabian govt. is correct in investing Saudi petrodollars in the absolute right places like mosques and madrassas.

World’s Muslims are very proud creatures!

Many Pakistanian Muslims take pride in knowing and thinking that they are the descendants of mighty and superior Arab Muslims who ruled many parts of Asia and Europe in the past.

Why do you always post in “Bold?” We all could do that if we wished, but don’t consider our posts more important than anyone else’s.

Pakistanis are, of course, part of the indigenous population which was conquered by Islam in the 8th century and they have no blood ties to arabs. They cannot, however be trusted in any regard since they have been held in its thrall for centuries, with its philosophy of immoral behavior.

        Divorce.

Loosely translated, it means “I divorce you, I divorce you, I divorce you”.

It’s what a Muslim husband says to divorce his wife. That’s all he has to do – pronounced the triple talaq. I’m using analogy, of course. It’s to suggest just how fast Pakistan should be shown the door.

A classic from the archives, from Spencer’s erudite friend and colleague “Hugh Fitzgerald”, on the subject of Pakistan.

It first appeared in this thread, long long ago.

    http://www.jihadwatch.org/2007/07/blast-near-islamabads-red-mosque-kills-11

“.I recently picked up at a book sale a copy of “The Miscellany,” edited by P. Lal, and published in Calcutta. Issue #51 (June 1972), one of three devoted to the then recently-deceased, at age 41, of David McCutchion.

“An Englishman, David McCutchion was a lover of India, not of the william-dalrympish sort, that is the kind who loves the luxe of the Moghul court and its love intrigues, nor the kind of Englishman (also william-dalrympish) of the walking-across-half-a-continent-when-young sort, making use of local color of the human interest kind, often grizzled or wizened or wizenedly grizzled picturesque Muslims, to do the work for him (downmarket Byrons and Newbys, not to menton the now-unfashionable, because bookish, traveller Gide in “Le Retour du Tchad”), but a true scholar, an Indophile who studied brick temples in Bengal, and Indian writing, was a friend of Satyajit Ray and all sorts of interesting people in Calcutta who never get the attention in the West that all those anti-Western islamisant arundhati-roys manage to get.

    “
I read through The Miscellany #52 – and discovered a tribute from the Sanskrit (and Buddhism) scholar Richard Gombrich (son of E. H.), who opened his essay, titled “His Work Is Unrepeatable,” with this: “The recent death of Mr. David McCutchion in Calcutta at the age of 41 is a catastrophe for oriental studies.”

“Gombrich describes McCutchion as a scholar who “devoted all his time, his money, and his exceptional energy and enthusiasm, to the study of arts and monuments which are fast disappearing. He tramped all over Bengal, both West and East, taking notes and photographs; his knowledge of the countryside was famous. A self-taught photographer, he spared no pains to take the perfect shot; and he leaves well over ten thousand colour slides and as many black and white photographs of high professional quality…..His greatest specialities were Bengali temple architecture and terra-cotta sculpture, the latter a lost skill of whose monuments little is known to the wider world; he also studied and collected Bengali scroll paintings. He explored many other parts of India too, and recorded even Gupta temples previously unknown.”

    “
And a little more, taken from a website:

“David McCutchion (1930-1972), English-born scholar, Indophile and early critic of Raja Rao, was an authentic pioneer: in his short lifetime…made a major contribution to the study of Bengali temples…one of the first scholars to write on the now much commented subject of Indian Writing in English….Born in Coventry, David attended that city’s King Henry VIII Grammar School. He made it to Cambridge University the hard way, on intellectual merit alone. He read Modern Languages (French and German) at Jesus College. After graduating in 1953, he taught English for two years in southern France. He went to India in 1957. He worked there first as an English teacher…and later, as Professor and then Reader in Comparative Literature at Jadavpur University, Calcutta…. David’s ground-breaking study of Bengali brick temples, The Temples of Bankura District, was published by Writers Workshop in 1972.”

    “
David McCutchion lived through the war made by West Pakistan (now Pakistan) on East Pakistan, now Bangladesh, in 1970-71, a war in which Muslim fanatics in East Pakistan, locally called razakars, joined forces with the raping and murdering army of West Pakistan, accepting the argument that what was good for Pakistan – that is, staying one country – was necessarily good for Islam, and what was good for Islam was all that mattered.

    “
Here is how, in a letter from England to a friend, McCutchion described the behavior of Pakistan:

“…We are raising funds {for those in what was then East Pakistan being murdered by the army of West Pakistan and its local, fervently Muslim East Pakistani collaborators], and hope to see the Minister of Overseas Development.

“What do I think of it all? Appalling…

“Pakistan should never have existed – it has cost more lives than the whole of the British Empire in 200 years.

“What should I think of a culture that burns down the British Council library in Lahore because an English publisher printed a picture of Mahomet?

“Fanaticism plus Machiavellianism plus brutality equals Islamic Pakistan.”

    “One More Time:

“What do I think of it all? Appalling…Pakistan should never have existed — it has cost more lives than the whole of the British Empire in 200 years. What should I think of a culture that burns down the British Council library in Lahore because an English publisher printed a picture of Mahomet? Fanaticism plus Machiavellianism plus brutality equals Islamic Pakistan.”

“Print out that last bit, and put it on your refrigerator, under the title: Pakistan.”

Trust a country that constantly attacks an innocent country.
The whole conflict between Pakistan and Isreal happened because Pakistan attacked Isreal. Isreal fought back in defense and won which gained territory. This happened with each attack and now they want their territory back so much they murder innocent civilians to get it. The only thing I have to say to that is, “We reap what we sow Pakistan.”
After hearing that explain to me why we should trust Pakistan, explain why we should support Pakistan over Isreal, explain why we shouldn’t occupy Pakistan for half a century to reform them into a civilized country?

Former president Asif Ali Zardari can certainly appeal to and sound most convincingly to the Court of Public Opinion because they are not experts on the Region, don’t read scholarly papers from Think Tanks about Pakistan/Afghanistan/Taliban Nexus. However if I were a Congressman I would ask Former president Asif Ali Zardari why he might think the American Congress doesn’t trust Pakistan? If he is reluctant or not to give such a reason I’d be ready myself with information to give him for years 2001-2016, year by year. I’d also ask him aside from territorial sovereignty issues does he have any objections to neutralizing someone responsible for deaths on both sides of the border and American servicemen, Mullah Akhtar Mansour?

Pakistan is an enemy state. An overwhelming majority of its citizens are anti-American. It has been engaged in duplicitous behavior vis-a-vis the U.S. since the early 1980s. “Trust” is undeserved. It is also a failed state. The U.S. would be better off pursuing a policy of dividing and fragmenting Pakistan (and Afghanistan); e.g., support Pashtun and Baluchi independence.
