The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) is at it again. Its President Richard Cohen testified before the U.S. Senate Subcommittee about the threat of radical-right terrorism. The world has been recently jolted by widespread islamic jihadi attacks, racking up victims galore and this chump is talking about the radical right.
The Southern Poverty Law Center is also notorious for its defamation of those who resist jihad terror. As Robert Spencer has long indicated, Islamic supremacist and Leftist groups tend to equate resistance to jihad terror with “hate.”
Such thinking is inane at best, dangerous at worst in providing cover to jihadists; of which the latter threatens the survival of Western civilization given the virulent spread of militant jihadism globally. In the face of overwhelming evidence of this global scourge from which no infidel – including children — is exempt, it is inexcusable for Cohen to attempt to detract from the necessity to combat jihad terrorism by pointing his crooked finger at the so-called “radical right”, which thankfully has become a fringe movement. The West cannot afford to ignore the mammoth battle of Islamic jihad because of political correctness and false accusations of hatred against Muslims.
The Southern Poverty Law Center needs to be marginalized for its oft-used low tactic of defaming truth tellers (even inciting violence against them); for its anti-freedom drive against America; and for the dirt in its own backyard, as showcased in this Washington Times editorial, which shows it up as a money-making scam getting rich on the backs of poor black people:
Looks can be deceiving. The poverty law center, known by its initials SPLC, is actually a money-making scheme — some have called it a “scam” — of an Alabama lawyer who set out years ago to get rich on the backs of the poor and the duped…….
The lawyer, Morris Dees, once defended Ku Klux Klansmen accused of beating up a black reporter covering the Freedom Riders, later raised money for George Wallace and then for George McGovern, and one day had an epiphany, or at least a profitable idea….. Where he stood was a place where he could parlay the good will of the unsuspecting into great riches….
“Poverty” quickly became enormously profitable. He was soon collecting millions and paying himself a salary far in excess of those paid to the heads of such advocacy groups as the ACLU, the Children’s Defense Fund and the NAACP Legal Defense Fund.
The director of the Atlanta-based Southern Center for Human Rights, which defends poor defendants in death-penalty cases, once told Mr. Dees he was “a fraud and a con man”…

“SPLC president urges Congress to not ignore terrorism from radical right,” Southern Poverty Law Center, June 28, 2016:
SPLC President Richard Cohen testified today about the threat of radical-right terrorism before the U.S. Senate Subcommittee on Oversight, Agency Action, Federal Rights and Federal Courts.
He delivered the following oral remarks to the subcommittee chaired by Sen. Ted Cruz, in addition to written testimony:
Thank you, Senator Cruz, it’s good to see you again.
Our country faces threats of violent extremism from many sources.
The horrible massacre at the Orlando gay nightclub earlier this month by a gunmen pledging allegiance to ISIS is but the latest example.
A year ago this month, it was the massacre of black churchgoers at Charleston’s “Mother Emanuel” church by a white supremacist.
Two years ago this month, it was the murder of Las Vegas police officers by antigovernment zealots who had been at Cliven Bundy’s ranch.
I would not take issue with the Obama administration’s assessment that terrorism from those affiliated with or inspired by groups like ISIS “represent[s] the preeminent threat to our country.”
But I would point out that the threat of violent extremism from those blinded by racial hatred and rage at the government are serious ones as well.
And while I would not go so far at to say that our government has been willfully blind to these latter threats, I would say that the record shows that both Republican and Democratic administrations, as well as the Congress, have not always given these latter threats the attention they deserve.
The clearest example of this point comes from the history of the domestic terrorism task force the Justice Department established after the Oklahoma City bombing.
The task force was scheduled to have one of its regular monthly meetings on 9/11.
But not only was that meeting canceled, the task force didn’t meet again for 13 years as the threat associated with groups like al Qaeda came to dominate the government’s attention.
During this period, the number of hate and conspiracy-minded antigovernment groups skyrocketed, and the level of violence from the radical right increased by a factor of four.
President Obama has been a particular lightning rod for the radical right.
The day after he was first elected, Stormfront – the world’s leading new-Nazi website, whose members have committed numerous murders – reported that it was getting six times its normal traffic.
“There are a lot of angry white people looking for answers,” the site’s publisher, a former Klansmen, explained.
When DHS released a report in 2009 assessing the likely backlash to the election of our first black president, the reaction from groups like the American Legion and members of Congress was so fierce that the report was withdrawn and the DHS unit that produced the report was allowed to wither.
In 2014, the Justice Department finally revived its domestic terrorism task force after a white supremacist, Glenn Miller, killed three persons in Overland Park, Kansas, he thought were Jewish.
But still, there are indications that the threat of terrorism associated with groups like ISIS dominates the government’s thinking.
The Oklahoma City bombing was the first terrorist incident that President Obama mentioned in his speech at the White House Summit on Countering Violence in 2015.
But it was virtually the only mention of radical-right terrorism during the entire summit.

You and Shuali are both offensive in your remarks on Jews.
Having said that, I manage the affairs of a former contributor to the SPLC (be assured they get no more contributions from that source), so I receive their weekly appeals for funds and their periodic “newsletters”. The newsletter is a cut-and-paste tabloid put together by an advertising agency to bilk the leftist suckers out of their money.
I’m not sure if Cohen testifies because it’s a way to shake up the money tree, or if he lets the fame go to his head, and convinces himself he has something to say. It’s not the first time a con-artist conned himself.
It will also be interesting to see any comments by Cruz on the matter. Cruz is my senator, and if you look at his website, he comes out pretty good on issues like Islam, terrorism, and immigration.
All in all, I’m pretty happy with leftist contributions to the SPLC. The money is far more productive in the SPLC offshore, unregulated bank accounts than it would be actually working for leftist causes in the way that, say, George Soros does.
Mark Swan says
There is a calculated popular ploy being played on the minds of the general public…
to cause some to be viewed as victims…when they are not…at the expense of others
who can then actually be made unsuspecting victims themselves…accomplished by people who make their living by claiming a cause for an invented victimization…when done using deceit and misinformation….many do respond thinking them to be a needed cause…donating to these professional panhandlers…helping them grow in profits and increase in propaganda…which is how they keep up the good work.
Once They find their niche cause they milk it for all it’s worth…very often a whole lot.

Richard Cohan is a disgusting Leftist tool–but it is *hardly* just Jewish people who are like this. Former SPLC heads Morris Dees and Julian Bond were not Jewish–nor are many other hard Leftists.

Where is the press asking why Hillary considers her private emails more important the classified secret intelligence.
Every single person with a job (ie not progressive social justice warriors) knows you use your own company email.
If you email company business on your personal account you get fired. It’s that simple.
Why is nobody asking her why she could not simply use TWO DIFFERENT EMAIL ADDRESSES, like every other person that works?

The email scandal is nothing compared to the Clinton Foundation influence peddling scandal. That’s why she put herself and her assistants on the personal email server in the first place.

She had a private email server setup on purpose so her email records would never be seen.
RonaldB says
You don’t understand.
Hillary, as a pathological liar, never admits a lie or a mistake. She simply hunkers down, or puts out ridiculous statements like “what does it matter what the details are. Four Americans are dead”, or “Nothing new here. It’s time to move on.”
She’s polling at 50% more or less now, so it means about half of the electorate simply doesn’t care about corruption, lies, or incompetence. It’s plain that by any rational standard, Hillary should have been indicted several times over for espionage and breaking laws on handling classified information. You could probably squeeze another few indictments by correlating payments to the Clinton Foundation with favorable State Department rulings when she was Secretary of State.
The only factor reigning in her progress, other than the other 50% of the electorate, would be a decision to actually indict her. That decision ultimately rests with Obama, so the question is, what are his priorities? You’re not going to see much daylight between his policies and her platform, since her candidacy and possibly her freedom, depend on Obama’s decision.
It’s pretty safe to say that what does not play any consideration in the actions of either Hillary or Obama is any question of law, ethics, or justice.

If you catch a Radical Muslim and he or she has killed for their faith, and then someone criticizes them, these liberal idiots will just say the critic has Islamophobia. Chic-Fi-La opened its doors on Sunday, something Islam would not do to help those that were injured, again they the Christians created the problem? Lord help us. The two greatest banes to mankind in our time are Islam and Western Leftism. Each does terrible things to common sense and moral intelligence. Both aren’t very good either in the area of general knowledge since both treat facts as optional.
And so no wonder these two belief systems are allies often times, though Western Leftists will be lambs led to the slaughter should Islam get its way in the West. Those who make up the SPLC won’t get this, but then there is a great deal the SPLC doesn’t get.
DFD says
Hi Wellington,
I hope you don’t see this as an intrusion, but I believe the links below will interest you, and perhaps some other readers/contributors too, Gravenimage springs to mind. They are not directly on topic, but are of concern.
An overview of or about these:
The first link, “The Deliberate Dumbing Down of America”, is as relevant for the US as it is for others. I am aware that similar ‘things’ were done in Germany and other European countries, particularly Scandinavia. Since your background is in education, you will find this rather shocking, as I did. Being aware of something doesn’t mean one knows the details, and particularly so since this 12 minute video is just a brief overview. If that is so as indicated, that one cannot help but wonder about other matters.
The second link, “The Story of Your Enslavement”, is extremely interesting, in so far that it has been produced by Stefan Molyneux. I read his analysis and predictions for Germany and Canada, spot on. His study methods very much follow the example of Prof. Kennedy’s ‘Rise and fall of great powers’; studying and analyzing the subject matter under financial and economic aspects. I am sure you are aware of this work, by now mandatory for students of politics and history. Stefan Molyneux follows Kennedy, but concentrates on individual nations. This video is different though, it is rather general, not concerned with any nation or specific grouping.
The third link, “The Jones plantation”, is from Larken Rose (larkenrose.com). They or he/she provides very interesting articles and videos. Though, I find my self in constant, ultimate disagreement since they are, or seem to be utterly pacifist; or at least *extremely* peaceful. I believe my views to be well known… Be that as it may, I am always willing to learn and to look from different angles, ‘gives a fuller, richer perspective.
To conclude, as I said above, I sincerely believe these will interest you, and so hope that is not viewed as an intrusion. If you think this is worth commenting or discussing, I certainly would welcome this.

Hello, DFD,
I first saw you on another website, and I was extremely impressed with your knowledge, particularly of European affairs and military matters. Since then, I have looked forward eagerly to your postings.
Having said that, I have to say I’m extremely unimpressed by all of the videos to which you link.
The first video attributes the lack of knowledge and rational thinking in today’s population to educational methods which are genuinely horrific, including the wholesale introduction of unproven methods of education into public education systems. However, there are no references given, and I would dispute that however horrific the methods of public educators are, that they are primarily responsible for the chaos in many of today’s schools. Incidentally, the video veers off into left field, attributing the decay to fluoridation of water and required vaccinations.
The first video entirely ignores the aspect of inherited ability, and the systematic disruption of classrooms by the requirement to include low-IQ, violent, and disruptive students in mainstream classrooms. In many ways, the American educational system is still the envy of the world, as shown by the many, many foreign students who are paying full tuition to get into US colleges and universities.
Incidentally, the first video is also completely without references, even in the notes. Thus, it is not a reasoned argument, but an emotional presentation that appeals to the emotions rather than the intellect.
The second video is by Stefan Molyneux and presents a radical, uncompromising libertarianism, in which any government or authoritative presence at all is seen as slavery. I have listened to many Molyneux videos. His series on “The truth about…” are particularly good. He gives little-known, and very informative facts about personages such as Abraham Lincoln, Che Guevara, and Ghandi. His facts are well-marshaled, although reading the comments, you can see he sometimes makes unsubstantiated claims.
Anyway, I didn’t realize Molyneux was such a rabid libertarian. His presentation on government = slavery entirely ignores the reasoned discussion of the proper function of a moderate government, as fully expounded in “The Federalist Papers”. Also, the extreme selfishness of business owners, some of whom would probably make their workers into slaves if it were profitable and legal, is not entirely dysfunctional. “The Wealth of Nations” by Adam Smith is the first fully drawn-out development of how private selfishness can promote the public good. As discussed in “The Federalist Papers”, a government that is too large and powerful leads to tyranny, but a government too small leads to conflict and enslavement by foreign powers. So, the ideal government is a balancing act.
This leads us to the third video, which is a restatement of the “authority = slavery” theme. The idea is that slaves work better when they believe they are free, so the function of government is to give the illusion of freedom while maintaining full control. The implication is that we are all slaves, more-or-less controlled by our industrial masters in conjunction with the government and its propaganda machine.
Again, the real truth is much more complex, and in fact our freedoms and lives depend on understanding the critical distinctions. The American government was created by the Constitution to be strong enough to protect our land and liberties, but not strong enough to establish a tyranny. The experiment is failing, for predictable reasons. The framers of the Constitution specifically stated the Constitution required an educated people with a common culture. We are importing masses of people with low IQs, low education, and radically different cultures. As these people become voters, the importance of the popular vote decreases and opportunity for the rule of Presidents and Prime Ministers acting as dictators increases.
But, the increasing dysfunction of the present government in no way refutes the idea that a functioning government with a coherent constituency is absolutely necessary for the existence of free individuals. No one is entirely free in such an environment, of course. Everyone is constrained to a degree with cultural norms, a fact which seems to bother libertarians to no end.
Let me say again, I always appreciate your contributions. In this case, I very strongly disagree with the philosophy and implications of the videos to which you have linked.
DFD says
Hello Ronald,
Thank you for your reply, and nice to hear from you. Now, to your comments:
I completely agree with you! 🙂
========================
That may sound strange, so permit me to repeat what I said in the actual post, quoting myself: “…I believe my views to be well known… Be that as it may, I am always willing to learn and to look from different angles, …”
To elaborate: As far as Larken Rose is concerned, yes, they are very liberal, extremely so, and to quite an extent very leftist too. So how does that fit in with my, and it seems to yours as well, thinking? Well, it doesn’t. But it does show where things can and will, and or should and could lead to.
I think as ‘**food for thought**’ they are rather good. The reason being my believe that if one only studies and converses on ones own lines, then there is an extreme risk of not only going stale, but even regressing for lack of stimulus. Let me provide an example, most of us here and on similar websites have read the quran and a fair number of hadithes too. Doesn’t mean anyone of us is Muslim, but we certainly have to know what they think, and why.
Right, you referred to Adam Smith, mandatory, and very truthful, accurate, practically up to date with everything. I’d still recommend though that you read upon Kennedy’s “Rise and Fall of (great) Powers”. Let me put it this way, Maggie Thatcher quoted from it frequently in Parliament, acted accordingly and had once held up for all to see in The House of Commons.

On a different subject matter, the civil wars. This has been re-written, it’s now 12 pages… And I take the opportunity to thank YOU specifically for your questions, which required answers, provided input and pointed to further requirements to be written. Which was done.

“Stormfront–the world’s leading new-Nazi website, whose members have committed numerous murders ”
“Members” are probably merely anonymous free accounts. Could say the same about Facebook and Twitter – lots of murderers. I’d guess the majority of Stormfront accounts are actually “social justice warriors” pretending to be white racists. They probably are racist though, just against whites. Actually, the whole site is probably hosted in India by two Hindus trying to make some money off a bunch of SJWs trying to catch racist “whites”.
gravenimage says
Max, your musings on Stormfront are not accurate. It is run by a white supremacist and former Klan member. It has been around for a long time.
One need not be an apologist for Stormfront–God knows, I *am not*–to find SPLC’s dismissal of the bloody threat of Jihad terror deeply disturbing. And their smearing of non-violent groups that are just right of center like the Tea Party is particularly egregious.

The SPLC is a business masquerading as a “charity”. It was born in the civil rights era, and unlike the defunct womens rights organizations it shifted focus to keep the money rolling in and remain relevant. It belongs in the category of Joseph McCarthy.
It spends 23% of donations to get more donations while the top administrators pay themselves in excess of $300,000/yr. It actively buys charity donor lists and, frankly, I’m tired of getting their unsolicited appeals for money. I choose charities carefully and this business of “being in other people’s business” is not on my list.

Cohen claims that since 9/11, resources have been focused on Islamic terrorism and right-wing extremism has been deemed a secondary issue. This is most likely true and also the right thing to do. Despite being the focus, Islamic terrorism has managed to kill and maim much more people than right-wing extremism. Just imagine the death toll if the majority of resources had been focused on right-wingers instead: maybe a dozen less people killed by them, but hundreds if not thousands more killed by Islamic terrorists.
It’s called threat assessment.
Mark Swan says
The SPLC has their list covering over a 21 year time period with approximately 100 incidents

The Southern Poverty Law Center has very little reason to worry about “Right Wing Terrorism”.
However,,, if things continue the way they are they will have every reason to worry about outright
“Civil War”…..

Unbelievable: The Anti-Obama Speech. America has woken up to the scourge that is Political Islam.

“The Enemy Among Us – The Growing Threat Our Country Faces From Islamic Terrorism”
Congressman Tom McClintock, June 16, 2016.
Excerpts:
“although Islam is a religion, it is often accompanied by a poisonous Political Ideology that is antithetical to everything our Country stands for.
That ideology now poses a direct threat to the liberty and safety of our people and we have every right to defend ourselves against it.
–
Those fleeing Sharia Law and Islamist political ideology should be welcomed i (America) in assimilable levels.
–
Those coming here to impose (Sharia Law) have no business being admitted to our shores.
–
Yet this (Obama) Administration makes no distinction between the two.
–
This (Obama) Administration has not only failed to enforce our immigration laws but it has actively undermined those laws.

The repulsive Southern Poverty Law Center grotesquely blamed non-violent Anti-Jihadist Pamela Geller for the San Bernardino Jihad massacre:
“Geller: SPLC Blames Me for the San Bernardino Jihad Massacre”
http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2016/03/04/geller-splc-blames-me-for-the-san-bernardino-jihad-massacre/
Mark Potok of the SPLC said this: “Domestic terrorism like the attack in San Bernardino last year during which 14 people were killed by two Muslim extremists are the propaganda work of anti-Muslim ideologues like Pamela Geller, the most visible and flamboyant person in the anti-Muslim movement, and the injection of hatred against Muslims…”
As though Jihad were caused by those who dare to opposest Jihad.
One cannot imagine anything more perverse.

That should be “oppose”.

SPLC=a bunch of hateful racist JEWS who hate white Europeans. now watch someone reply to this, calling me an anti-semite in 3…2…1…
Angemon says
Ok, let me see if I canal follow your “logic”: an American organization who has sided with Israel’s enemies is, in fact, ruled by Jews that hate White Europeans, despite said White Europeans encompassing Jews.
You should convert to islam – I’m certain your rhetoric would be met with standing ovations and cries of “Encore”…

Floyd Lee Corkins used SPLC blacklisting propaganda to determine the target for his attempted shooting rampage at the Family Research Council. SPLC is itself a demonstrable hate group.
The link is far stronger in Corkins’ case relating to the SPLC than the flimsy guilt-by-association tactics SPLC relies upon to smear non-violent bloggers, authors, or a demonized conservative Christian political lobbying group.
For five decades, if one looks at empirical data, the Left is far more likely to produce violent mobs or militant and terrorist hate groups. From the Black Panthers, SLA, and Weather Underground 60s-70s to Shining Path and Bader-Meinhof 70s-80s and finally to ELF, Black Bloc, BLM extremists or the reliably violent “anti-fascist” ANTIFA in Europe agitating in the present millennium.
