A former reality TV star has turned his back on singing to join ISIS after being seen goading his fellow countrymen in a sick video.
Tahmid Rahman Shafi was a top 10 finalist on Bangladesh’s NTV music show back in 1995, but he has been identified as a man issuing threats of terror in the wake of the Dhaka attacks.
The new video, which was released just days after 20 hostages were slaughtered in a cafe, is laden with the extremist group’s propaganda and brags about the rising death toll in the country.
It’s understood the ISIS video was released on Wednesday, four days after Bangladesh’s deadliest attack, and Shafi features heavily in the footage.
In it, he says: ‘The jihad in Bangladesh, the one you are witnessing now, is nothing like anything you have seen before.
‘What you witnessed in Bangladesh yesterday was just a glimpse, this will repeat, repeat and repeat until you lose and we win.’
Shafi’s fatheris [sic] the late election commissioner Shafiur Rahman, according to his former Notre Dame College classmates.
