Erdogan calls failed Turkish coup a “gift from Allah”

Jul 16, 2016 12:59 pm By Robert Spencer

It allows him to move against his opponents and consolidate his power. He will be able to hasten the roll-back of secularism and the Islamization of the country.

“After his Istanbul speech, many commentators suggest that Turkish coup attempt was ‘staged,’ as the President called it a ‘gift from Allah,’” by Irene Kostaki, New Europe, July 16, 2016 (thanks to The Religion of Peace):

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan lands at Ataturk airport of Istanbul aster coup attempt: “Those who staged a coup attempt will pay the highest price, will answer for this treason.”

Erdoğan adds that this insurgency “is a blessing from Allah, because it will allow us to purge the military” from mutineers.

“I was in Marmaris and they bombed there. They thought I was still there,” says Erdoğan, that had vanished from the media the last days as he reportedly was on vacation. The Turkish President suggested while addressing a large crowd at the airport, that after leaving for Instanbul, his hotel was bombed.

“They took away my secretary general. I don’t know the fate of the army chief.” Erdoğan’s Prime Minister Binali Yildirim, confirmed that at least 120 army officials have been arrested. Moreover, Erdogan calls on insurgent officers to lay down their arms. “We are still on duty,” he adds.

After his Instanbul speech, many commentators suggest that Turkish coup attempt was “staged,” as the President called it a “gift from Allah.”…

Turkish minister claims that USA is behind the failed coup attempt in Turkey and given the (regime change) history of the US governments he could be very right indeed. Many in Turkey and beyond believe that US was pushing a Gulenist islamist agenda which is far radical than Erdogan MB regime. Read more on the link below:

          @BC
The USA or Turkey could destroy ISIS in about two months, either ones military would have no problem.
Erdogan, Obama and the House of Saud are using ISIS to destroy secular Syria, the Kurds and put back in place Sunni control of Iraq. When this goal is accomplished you will see Turkey, NATO and the USA charge in for the glorious rescue.
Turkey will secure its southern border and expand its control over the conquered area minus Kurds, Christians, Yashidis, Shiites and Allawites. The Saudi’s will now have controllable Sunni neighbors and security. The USA won’t have that pesky democratically elected Assad to deal with and it contains Irans ME ambitions.
Oh BTW, there’s also lots and lots of oil there. The US will sleep with Satan for that.

The Oracle has spoken! Do not question the Oracle! The US did NOT held on to Kuwait or Iraq when they had the chance, and the US possess their own oil reserves, but one does not question the Oracle who says the US is motivated by greed of oil. Because f*** logic and common sense – the Oracle has spoken and that’s it.

          Jul 17, 2016 at 1:16 pm

Why hold on to Iraq or Kuwait when we control where their oil flows. Did I say that the USA would consume this product? Control of Middle East oil is more important than our own consumption of it. We allowed China to purchase much of Iraqs oil, doesn’t that now give the US leverage over China in let’s say the South China Sea?

Not much into deep thinking are you Ang.

Oh, the red herrings and smokescreens. You are NOT answering any of the points that I raised – not only the US had the possibility to control oil in the ME (you know, the control you’re rambling about), they also have reserves of their own. Claiming “well, it’s not for their own consumption” addresses none of those points. Capisce? Or are you deliberately and purposely trying to go around them?

Yes, fine logic by both of you, it seems to me.

But I was speculating further; Erdogan’s government DOES wage war against the PKK. It is what Erdogan and the military in the past had as common interest.

But while Erdogan et al are distinctly going in a direction of Islamist totalitarianism, the PKK is more secular, even democratically minded, or so I hear.

This can have the effect of dampening the enthousiasm of many of the military of fighting against the PKK, in favor of Erdogan et al.

Heck, soldiers facing harsh sentences, may even defect to the PKK, out of desperation, which is what I would consider in their situation.

And the secular citizens can also at least lean more to a favorable opinion of the Kurdish opposition, if Erdogan goes too far, or even keeps up his current oppression of opposition parties, authoritarian ways, Islamisation of society, support for terrorists, jailing of journalists, censorship and Islamic propaganda. All of which was what the military objected to and led to this coup, or so I hear.

        • Carolyne says

          Jul 17, 2016 at 10:33 am

Mustapha Kemal Ataturk, the person who blessed modern Turkey with a secular government, charged the military with responsibility of protecting democracy and guarding against radical Islam and dictatorship. There was a time when Turks were proud of their heritage created by Ataturk, It appears that the disease called fundamental Islam has infected the brains of the Turks and they are sliding down the slippery slope of Sharia. I never regarded them as too bright anyway.

Under Kemal Ataturk’s direction the last remaining Armenian and Greek Christians who survived the genocde of the Young Turks were either murdered or driven from their native nation. He gave explicit orders to kill all Armenians after overrunning the last vestige of their free nation.
Ataturk also directed the massacre and destruction of Christian Smyrna, the last city which had a predominantly Christian population.

He was a vile Islamic murderer who saw that if he could separate mosque from state then Turkey would become a monoculture and could easier deal with Western powers.

Many in the West look at him like they would an American Founding Father figure. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Obama’s tacit approval of Erdogan stopped the coup cold. Without hope of US and with it NATO support it was doomed. In addition they should have struck with Erdogan in country and killed him right off.

Turkey with tact has to be removed from NATO. With Erdogan ISIS will not be destroyed by Turkish forces, they will be more likely absorbed by a soft Caliphate centered on Erdogan with tacit support from Iran.

The Nazi Party never got a majority of the votes (37% and 33% in the two 1932 elections and 44% in the March 1933 election) and it used thug-like techniques during these elections, but I wouldn’t go so far as to say that Hitler and the Nazis didn’t use democratic means to achieve undemocratic ends. After the failed 1923 coup, Hitler resolved to use the democratic process of the Weimar Republic to achieve power and never again just sheer force. In this, unfortunately, he was successful, co-opting non-Nazis like von Papen and the senile President Hindenburg into bringing him into the government democratically.

Even if this coup was for real, there’s a thought haunting my mind.

Earlier in his administration, Erdogan purged the military brass in Turkey, doubtlessly remembering how they shunted out his mentor and youthful ideal Necmettin Erbakan. I have been wondering that if the Turkish coup attempt was for real, could the plotters have been “new blood” officers who were impatient with a lower pace of re-Islamicization than they would have liked?

This sort of thing is an ever-present reality in the new Middle East.

The events of the past couple of days also suggest that Erdogan’s message of a re-Islamicized Turkey has a lot of resonance with the Turkish street. Daniel Pipes and others (including our esteemed host) have also pointed out that with Erdogan, Turkey is an ally no more. I grow more pessimistic that Huntington’s clash of civilizations is a very great reality at this point.

It could well be a staged coup ploy to generate a false pretense to accuse the Turkish Islamic preacher Fethullah Gulen as an organizer of a political takeover.

“He [Gulen] is the head of a faith-based social movement that boasts a global following, has deep roots in Turkish society, and cultivates notable influence in the U.S. education through a network of roughly 150 secular charter schools.” – FoxNews.com

Mr. Fethullah Gulen had visited one of his secular charters schools back in 2006-07 where my oldest grandson was attending. My daughter personally met Mr. Gulen in a social. She had kind words for Mr. Gulen: “a very caring educational systems administrator” and “an asset to America”, she had said. My grandson graduated with a 400 GPA. No, my grandson, a Christian, was never introduced or indoctrinated or given hint to any of the Islamic ideologies in the three years he attended “School of Science and Technology” (SST).

I believe this coup was staged. I expect a super crazy crackdown on anyone and anything who goes against Erdogan’s Islamist ambitions or Sharia…

Turkey is no longer an ally to the West– kick them out of NATO, someone please :-/

It’s not really funny because the pious monk will use the gift to punish his enemies…other wise all gifts from Allah are cheaply made annd will rot out in a week or so…

Erdogan is an ultimate creep and Islamic bully. Nothing more defines the west than their willingness to deal with this creature. The disgusting Merkel, the democratic KERRY, AND REST OF THE GANG UGGGGH!

Just an observation. I noted looks of deep bewilderment not defiance or defeat in the faces of the captured ‘rebels’. The coup narrative, in my mind is doubtful.

Appalling scenes of wild, triumphant jubilation in the streets of “moderate”, “modern”, “Westernised” Turkey by hordes of exuberant, flag waving Young Turks, all screaming allahu akbar at the failure of this attempt to restore peace, democracy and sanity to that troubled country — it’s sickening.

A muhammadan’s favourite chant is variously a war cry, victory shout or simply a drunk, demented exaltation at success in any act of stupidity or savagery they can get away with.

Not coincidentally, the Turkish language has 8 or 9 different terms for the various types of yobs/yobbos in their society. Given there’s so many, perhaps it needs them. Or perhaps it merely needs replace them by a single term — muslim. Yet Turkey’s not just a Land of gobble gobbles and allah ackbars, there are a great many decent, valiant people there, needing support now more than ever. Just don’t expect Obama, Clinton & Co to lend any real help. They’ll gift more of the same as allah has.

And now all his opposition is jailed, how convenient. Get them out of NATO!
