Since the advent of Kemalist secularism in the 1920s, the military has been its guardian. If the military now is trying to forestall Erdogan’s neo-Ottoman plans to restore Islamic rule in Turkey, then this coup could be an extremely positive development. If it succeeds, that is. And yes, that is two big if’s.

          EM, who stated on several occasions that he’d celebrate when (not “if” but “when” – he takes it as a fact) the West falls to islam – with the ensuing bloodbath and slaugher of innocents – is telling Christianblood, who said in the wake of the recent jihad attack in Nice that the French deserved it and much more, that I think (because, apparently EM is a mind reader, albeit a terrible one) people are not different from dogs and cats.   7. This could also be AQ / ISIS within Turkey as well. Erdogon has been purging the old guard, and just recently there was a huge pugre. In any event, I think this puts a permanent nail in any Western plans to commit suicide with Turkish accession. That is a huge positive. Perhaps the Turkish Border will now be closed by Europe. There will be throngs trying to escape. In any event, may many MANY Jihadis perish in the foment. And may the face be ripped away from the Muslim enemies.

    We may have an Ataturk redux here. I sure hope so. May the secularists in the Turkish military succeed, though count on it that clueless Western leaders like Obama, Trudeau, May et al. will want very much otherwise. Of course they will because they are fools.

Thank you for your answers. In your 6:34 pm post of July 15, 2016, here, you were responding to Christianblood and referencing Russian soldiers who raped German girls and women at the last few months of WWII. My mom, Anita Wolff, was not yet 17 when several Russian soldiers marched into the house in Neuruppin (East Germany) that my mom lived in with her mother and brother, as her father was away in the war. My mom was raped several times by those soldiers. My grandmother offered herself to the soldiers to spare her daughter, (my mom) but they wanted the “young flesh” and threatened my mom and her family since the soldiers had rifles. Other young women in Neuruppin were also raped by the Russian soldiers as well. My mom never told a soul about this, and I only found out when her brother (my uncle) told me, many years after she died, which was 1974. She died of ovarian cancer at 46. This is my way of backing up your statement. Take good care, Wellington.

      • I’m so sorry this happened to your mother, Linde. It does not surprise me, though. The Allies only allied with the brutal Soviet Union because they saw it as the only way to defeat Hitler.

        But they knew that Stalin was an ugly figure–one who had, incidentally, been allied with Hitler not long before. Not only did Soviet troops mass rape German girls and women, but, of course, they refused to return East Germany and East Berlin to German rule when the rest of the Allies did. This led to almost fifty years of oppression there.

There were many people who didn’t trust the Russians coming into Germany, but they learned to “live with it”. Sounds like that French gov’t. minister, Valle, when he said “We must all learn to live with these daily disruptive occurences.” I wonder, if this stupid guy’s wife was cheating on him, would he say: “I have to live with it.” ?

  17. I’m watching TRT Turk footage. It’s a gathering of people. seemingly on a TRT room. Some people are flying the Turkish flag. Several people tried to wave a *black* cloth for the cameras and an older man did what I can only describe as *instruct* them NOT to do so. I have no idea if it’s a cultural symbol or if they simply lacked a black flag of jihad.

  18. Something that apparently flew under the radar: apparently, a couple of hours ago, an Iranian news agency reported that Erdogan landed in Tehran. Not sure what stunt they were trying to pull.
