An “Islamophobic hate crime” made headlines across Canada after a hijab-wearing mom in London, Ontario was shouted at, spat upon and had her hijab pulled off at a grocery store. Media outlets rushed to report the incident as an appalling hate crime, while members of local Muslim groups were interviewed about Muslim victimization. But then came a sudden radio silence from media and authorities.
As it turns out, the attacker needed an interpreter when she appeared in court, a Farsi interpreter. Farsi is the predominant language in Iran, suggesting that the attacker was Muslim herself. In the report below by Andrew Lawton, he is careful to indicate that the investigation is ongoing, unlike the journalists and politicians who eagerly jumped to conclusions about the attack being a hate crime. The victim even stated that she now worries about the safety of all Muslim women who wear the hijab.
No one should face the trauma of being attacked by anyone, but the eagerness of the mass media to jump on this story as an anti-Muslim hate crime before any investigation is dismaying. In addition, hate crimes against Jews and blacks are far more common, so it is an injustice to inflate the incidence of “Islamophobia” into a ubiquitous social ill in the west. Even worse is the pairing together of potential backlash against Muslims following jihadi attacks with the task of identifying and fighting a very real war on terror. They are different phenomena that need different tactics in addressing.
In contrasting the coverage of the so-called hate crime in London, it is ludicrous that Omar Mateen’s motives are still being questioned, in the face of overwhelming evidence of his jihadist motives. Mateen slaughtered 49 people and injured dozens more while proclaiming allegiance to the Islamic State; he cased Disney and the Pulse as possible targets before the shooting spree; and there were prior revelations of his violent jihadist intentions via FB before the attack. In addition, it is egregious that cover-ups of pertinent information that further reveal Mateen’s clear motive are ongoing.
Media, politicians and members our society are being increasingly brainwashed and/or intimidated into dhimmitude, which only serves to aid and abet stealth and violent jihadists.
“EXCLUSIVE: Media suddenly SILENT about that Islamophobic “hate crime” in London — could THIS be why?”, by Andrew Lawton, The Rebel, June 30, 2016:
A Muslim mother was shopping in a grocery store when she was allegedly hit and spat on by a woman wearing a “Canada” shirt of all things. During the altercation, the victim’s hijab was removed.
I don’t like the idea that anyone in my city or in my country could be attacked without provocation, but this particular story didn’t sit right.
From NDP Member of Provincial Parliament Peggy Sattler to Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale, politicians lined up to denounce this “hate crime” against Muslims. Media outlets didn’t challenge anything, but accepted at face value that a crime against a Muslim must be a hate crime.
When police in London identified and charged the suspect, they only charged her with common assault—not anything “hate” motivated.
More curiously, they refused to name her, which is a stark departure from their usual practices, through which the names of anyone charged are released to the media. Even when asked by media outlets, police were tight-lipped.
Not one news article appeared mentioning the name of the accused, nor did anyone cover the details of her first appearance in court. One detail in particular.
And I think I found out why.
After accessing court records, I learned that the accused is 38-year old Sheila Shaidaie of London. We don’t yet know her motivations for the alleged assault, but we do know one thing:
When she appeared in court, she had a Farsi interpreter.
Farsi is a language spoken almost exclusively by people from Iran. We also know the Muslim population of Iran is about 99.4 per cent….
