The French ban on burkinis has been a major headline issue, particularly the story about the woman having to take off her burkini covering right in front of four infidel cops, standing over her as she does so.
“‘Forced to strip,” went one headline, retweeted tens of thousands of times, propelling the issue to such heights that nary a credible news site didn’t cover it. It became such a political hot potato that France’s burkini ban was subsequently overturned by the highest court. Yet a French writer’s voice was heard in the midst of those controlled and terrorized into political correctness. She stated “If you’re upset by burkini cop image, you’ve have been sucked in by Islamist propaganda,” and also:
A belief shared by many is that this “victim” and the snapper wanted the police to intervene — the photos are brilliant Islamist propaganda. They will provoke and inflame, foster a resentful mindset among French Muslims and encourage the narrative of “victimisation” that cripples action on Islamic extremism.
Jihad Watch ran a story with the same premise yesterday, highlighting the manipulation of the victimology subterfuge by Islamic supremacists, intended specifically to drive the Islamophobia agenda to beat down critics. We quoted the Muslim Brotherhood Plan for North America outlined in its memorandum:
The process of settlement is a ‘Civilization-Jihadist Process’ with all the word means. The Ikhwan [Muslim Brotherhood] must understand that their work in America is a kind of grand jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and ‘sabotaging’ its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers…
No surprise, Arabic Muslim social media was abuzz over the ban and the image of four infidel cops forcing a Muslim woman to remove her burkini.
The plot, the intended fallout, the Islamophobia narrative — all working swimmingly as France succumbs to dhimmitude.
“Provocative French writer says ‘If you’re upset by burkini cop image, you’ve have been sucked in by Islamist propaganda”, The Sun UK, August 2, 2016:
“THEY are the pictures that whipped the world up into a righteous fury.
The next shows the woman having to take off her tunic under the watchful eye of the cops, looming threateningly over her.
“Forced to strip”, went one headline, retweeted tens of thousands of times.
The chorus on social media was deafening. The poor woman only wanted a bit of sun and a swim, dressed as she pleased, and is subjected to this disgusting affront.
It has become a frequent collective howl, the outrage at secular France’s decision to ban burkinis on more than a dozen beaches to calm religious tension.
Yet the pictures also tell another story.
Most citizens support burkini ban
Look closer, especially at the photo taken BEFORE the police show up.
One shows the woman seemingly sleeping, alone, lying directly on the sand.
She has no book, no sun cream, no beach bag. Her clothes are not suited to swimming.
Another shows her sitting quietly, looking around, as if waiting for the police to come. Hoping for the police to come?
As one French Muslim journalist, Ahmed Meguini, tweeted under the picture: “It’s 35C! Off to the beach for a nap in the sun in my ski outfit, like, totally normally.”
The pictures — sold worldwide by an agency — are not credited. They are, however, professionally shot.
The photographer was there long before the incident.
Among those furious at the pictures is the Collectif Contre l’Islamophobie en France (CCIF) — an activist outfit that has taken the French State to court in a series of high-profile cases.
Its attempts to have the burkini beach bans declared illegal have lost in local courts but yesterday, it won the right to make a case in front of the Council of State, France’s highest administrative court.
But the truth is that most French citizens at both ends of the political spectrum SUPPORT the bans.
This includes French Muslims, especially women.
They agree with Laurence Rossignol, France’s Socialist women’s minister, who suggested burkinis were designed to “hide women’s bodies in order better to control them”.
To liberal Muslims — still the majority in France, where the burka has been banned since 2010 — the burkini is the latest of encroaching advances made by the ultra-conservative Salafist Muslims.
Other demands include school meals to be halal and for municipal swimming pools to segregate boys and girls….
…Burkinis serve as a painful reminder of an unwanted and extreme take on Islam.

Well, I commented on the latest “burkina-on-the-beach” photo op and, in German, politely suggested that the woman had done so purposely to provoke the police and gain the news story she hoped for. I ended with “nut eine gedanken” , only a thought. They deemed it not acceptable.

Angry Aussie says
The burkini is actually an Australian “innovation” (dare I call it that?). It came about during the time of the Cronulla Riots in Sydney years ago when Muslims bashed several Lifeguards and all hell broke out between Muslims and Australians. It’s incorrectly referred to as “Race Riots”, but is all about Australians correcting Islamic Supremacy. Lifeguards were bashed after women on the beach were harassed by Muslims, threatening to rape them.
Dr Jamal Rifi (Muslim), in an attempt to show how peaceful the Muslims were, encouraged them to become Lifeguards in a BS attemp to “Aussie-fie” themselves. As the women supposedly can’t wear anything too revealing, the burkini was born. It’s all nonsense, and just a money spinner, because the Lebanese Muslim girls on the beaches in Sydney would make the string wearing Brazillian women look covered up.
overman says
@Angry Aussie – Yes, l saw an interview on either RT news or France24 news the other day. Some muslim woman in her shop in Sydney [l think] who had invented the burkini.

Yes–in most of Dar-al-Islam, a Muslimah dressed in a Burkini would still be considered a “whore” in tight clothing.
The Burkini is all about infiltrating the West with Muslim norms. If–God forbid!–the Mohammedans ever take over here, that will likely be the end of the Burkini. This is stealth Jihad.
This is, in fact, true of all sorts of Muslim infiltration, like Muslimahs demanding to be allowed to wear the Hijab for jobs they probably would not be able to hold in the first place in the case of a full Islamic take over.
andra says
For me there is another aspect of islamic clothing that seems much more dangerous.
Sura 33,59 calls for muslim women to cover themselves so that they must not be raped by muslim men. And many muslim men in Europe stand to this sura, e.g. in Norway or Sweden, where they claim that western clothed women asked for being raped.
For me this is reason einough to forbid all Kind of islamic clothing – otherwise the European women have to cover themselves as well one day in order to protect themselves.
overman says
There seem to be many different interpretations of that Sura. According to Raheel Raza [sane muslim] there is nothing in the koran telling women to cover their heads.
These are the different interpretations of Sura 33,59 – only one [Mohsin Khan] specifies the head from what l can see. Judge for yourselves.
“Sahih International: O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to bring down over themselves [part] of their outer garments. That is more suitable that they will be known and not be abused. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful.
Pickthall: O Prophet! Tell thy wives and thy daughters and the women of the believers to draw their cloaks close round them (when they go abroad). That will be better, so that they may be recognised and not annoyed. Allah is ever Forgiving, Merciful.
Yusuf Ali: O Prophet! Tell thy wives and daughters, and the believing women, that they should cast their outer garments over their persons (when abroad): that is most convenient, that they should be known (as such) and not molested. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
Shakir: O Prophet! say to your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers that they let down upon them their over-garments; this will be more proper, that they may be known, and thus they will not be given trouble; and Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.
Muhammad Sarwar: Prophet, tell your wives, daughters, and the wives of the believers to cover their bosoms and breasts. This will make them distinguishable from others and protect them from being annoyed. God is All-forgiving and All-merciful.
Mohsin Khan: O Prophet! Tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to draw their cloaks (veils) all over their bodies (i.e.screen themselves completely except the eyes or one eye to see the way). That will be better, that they should be known (as free respectable women) so as not to be annoyed. And Allah is Ever OftForgiving, Most Merciful.
Arberry: O Prophet, say to thy wives and daughters and the believing women, that they draw their veils close to them; so it is likelier they will be known, and not hurt. God is All-forgiving, All-compassionate”

This is IMV, the wrong tactic. There is ample evidence that Islam as practiced and legislated teaches hate, violence, murder, sedition, legal rape, legal assult, and second class status for all but Muslim males.
Just enforce existing laws for the above. Deport all Muslims who follow this orthodox Islam. Ban all religions that advocate any of the above crimes, because they are crimes. If Catholics want a Catholic government again, that is sedition. Support the very few Muslims who interpret the Koran and jihad as internal struggle ONLY. Remove all hate literature from all mosques. Confiscate their assets.
Then people can wear whatever they wish to the beach.
Ted Tyler says
If law enforcement required a woman to remove any of her garments in public, I would consider that to be a bit rude. It looks as though the police have set themselves us to be knocked down. A better approach would have to simply eject her from the beach – fully clothed – because burkas are not allowed on the beach.
f c king says
That would have been the correct thing to do. She should have given the part she took off to the man in the speedo.
BC says
I agree with that. It would be deemed offensive to ask any women to remove part of her clothing in public.
The police really shot themsleves in the foot there. There should also have been a female officer in the group. I would also like to know if the police are so well staffed they can have a squadl of 4 officers on beach patrol. Also much was made of them being armed. Just like US copsand amny other countries all French police are armed
Carolyne says
I would really like to know what the conversation between the police and the woman was. Did they really ask her to remove her clothing, or did they tell her it was not allowed and she thereby decided to strip. I find it suspicious that she was wearing a swimsuit under that garb. Certainly it was a Muslim set-up.
DefenderofIslm says
The French police didnot like the ban they would rather go after terrorist who murder people not picking on moslim women who want to wear what they want.

The problem, Defender, is not that women should wear what they want. No rational woman would want to wear that ridiculous outfit in the heat on a beach if some man didn’t require her to do so under threat of violence or perhaps death.

Ciudadano says
Islamic terrorists are at war with France. Jihadist organizations, like ISIS, and fundamentalist Islamic theocracies that support terrorism, like Arabia Saudi and Iran, force women to wear niqabs and burqas. Repression and subjugation of women is part of the enemy’s ideology. Muslim women in France wearing dark niqabs and burqas are showing support for the ideology of the enemy. If they were loyal to France they wouldn’t don the clothes Jihadist impose on women.
Modesty is just an excuse these women use to justify wearing those gloomy clothes. They could wear other modest clothes, but colorful and happier, that blend better with the surroundings, instead they choose to wear those dark and gloomy burqas. The message they are sending is what side in this war they support.
Western countries must fight the enemy’s ideology. This is a war and wars demand exceptional measures. Banning the burqa and niqab is an attempt of doing that, albeit the way it was implemented was myopic and clumsy. What is needed is a comprehensive plan and policy to combat the enemy’s ideology, including banning and punishing any public expression of support for the enemy’s ideology.
The problem is that this war has been poorly articulated. Politicians and judges, executive and judiciary, must be in the same page. Western countries can not rely on liberal judges to win this war. The only thing worse than a liberal politician is a liberal judge.
In my country liberal judges are releasing inmates because jails are in “inhuman” conditions and don’t want to send to jail small drug dealers.

“I’m a conservative, an American, and a Muslim reformer. As a Muslim woman I was disappointed on Friday to see the France’s highest court overturn the burkini ban. For a liberal society, the decision means the protection of free expression. For watchdogs like myself who look to the horizon, we know this sets a second precedent: the acceptance of Islamist culture. Friday there were two wins: the first for a tolerant society and the second for Islamists waging a soft civilization jihad.”

If a woman or anyone, for that matter, wants to wear a heavy black tent on the beach, why should I object? I suppose you could respond that they could have “anything” under that mountain of cloth – from an AK to a nuke – but you could hide the same thing in a big cooler or a folded up umbrella.
What I do object to is the covering of the face in public. I think if I wore a ski mask or maybe a Joker mask, that the cops would pull me aside or over and question that, but I’ve been very uncomfortable when I was in a bank line waiting for a teller, and this person (female, male?) walks in with only a veiled slit for the eyes showing. That shouldn’t be allowed – nor should the Muslima in Florida who wanted her driver’s license photo be taken of her in the burka. Right. I think maybe the whole purpose of the photo is to be able to identify the person – and for a cop (male or female) to be able to compare that photo to the person who handed it to them. Otherwise, why demand photos from the rest of us.
But demanding that a woman show her body is just plain insane. It’s undemocratic, anti-libertarian, and just plain weird of you to insist. Let them swelter in their own juices and smell like a goat – their husbands evidently like that.
billybob says
Zammana, what makes you think they “demanded” that woman show her body? That doesn’t make any sense at all. What happened, I am certain, is that the police told her either remove that extraneous covering, or leave the beach. The woman chose to remove the extraneous covering. Then the journals decided to say she was forced to “show her body”. That’s so ridiculous.
Don’t forget, this incident occurred in another country, where they speak another language, so it is hidden beneath this layer of of obfuscation, leaving Western journalists to interpret the story any way they want, or any way that translates into clicks. It’s not like there is a thing called “Journalistic Standards” any more. That went out with ink and paper. We are on the Internet now. Journalistic integrity is a relic of the past, and it’s every man (or woman) for himself (or herself) as far as trying to determine the Truth.

A setback but they have sent out a clear signal to Muslims that they consider the burkini to be a religious symbol and of the oppression of women and therefore unacceptable – the only country in the on-Muslim world to have the courage to do so.
It’s not about fashion or choice for women – choice for women is virtually non-existent in Islam. When western women go to Muslim countries like Dubai, there is no question of THEM wearing what they like on beaches and in public, they have to conform to Muslim standards as they do everywhere else in the world. In Islam acceptance, respect, tolerance and freedom of expression only goes one way: AND IT’S NOT OURS.
Note that the case was brought by “human rights” lawyers and an “anti-Islamophobia” group. But there is public support for banning these symbols and powerful politicians are not afraid to speak out:-
French Prime Minister Manuel Valls defended a ban on burkinis in more than a dozen coastal towns on Thursday, saying France was locked in a “battle of cultures” and that the full-body swimsuit symbolized the enslavement of women… “We have to wage a determined fight against radical Islam, against these religious symbols which are filtering into public spaces.”

When Muslims publicly display something (anything) that screams Islam, whether it be a mosque or a burqini, they are saying that they are subjects of this foreign govt (Islam) and that they follow its law (Sharia) rather than the existing law of the land.
When non-Muslims (and their govt) accept such public displays by Muslims, they literally allow this foreign government to have presence and sway in their land. Most importantly, over time this foreign govt and its control increases and becomes normalized. The land becomes a land of two rival governments, one of which is aggressively competing with the other and aims for monopoly.
Imagine some people in the US publicly and proudly displaying Soviet Russian symbols and behaviors, and when asked, claim that they are doing so because they are good, obedient, Soviet subjects and that the Soviet law requires them to display those symbols. What are the chances that Americans would tolerate them doing such things, no matter how much we respect freedom of expression?
Hence no matter how much freedom of expression we have, displays of obedience to this foreign govt (and its laws) is something non-Muslims simply should not allow in their countries, especially since this foreign govt is an enemy govt. Also, it is OUR govt that allows full freedom of expression, not theirs. When THAT govt takes over, we will have no freedom of expression!
2) As andra pointed out above, letting burqinis on beaches gives an excuse to Islamists to call other women “easy-meat” who are only asking to be raped. This puts pressure on all women to wear burqinis in order to protect themselves. When they do so, they only end up abiding by the laws of this other govt (the Islamic one). That is, the Islamic govt ends up having a stronger hold on society.
Conclusion: Islam, its members, symbols, and practices should be declared tool of a foreign govt by all non-Muslim majority countries. The burqinis should especially be banned, including in the US, because of the societal threat they pose to women (besides the reasons mentioned by you, and in point 1).

The text of the ordinance before the court doesn’t even mention the word burkini. It only say that the bathers must wear swimsuits that are consistent with good morals and secularism. It is very vague than policeman who doesn’t like women who wear bikini can ask then to leave the beach.

In terms of oppressing women, does it really make a difference whether the source is primative fundy Islamic definition of “modesty” or some ethnic French cop bullying an old lady into removing her swimming gear? What is needed isn’t a ban or more restrictions on women, but more FREEDOM. I do live for the day, though, when male speedos are passe.

I’ve just read a report about the Khan Creature (yea, the Venerable Mayor of London) jetting off to Paris to tell the mayor there how to do his job, including proclaiming the rights of women to wear what they like on the beach & elsewhere. But not, apparently, on posters in the London Underground, according.to this muslim Mayor. Funny, that.

Come to think of it, the term “burkini” is very misleading. “Burkini” is supposed to be “burqa”+”bikini”. This is a burqa:

This is a bikini:

When I look at a “burkini”, I see the burqa, but not the bikini. How about calling it what it is: a burqa made from water-friendly fabric? Or “burqa”, for short.
