These reminiscences of Rush Limbaugh resonated with me, because I had the same experience. He says: “My entire life I had never been known for hating anybody. I had never been known for bigotry, racism, sexism, any of the phobias. But within a month of starting my radio program, I was all of those.”
Likewise, in my entire life I had never been known for hating anybody, but as soon as I published my first book, Islam Unveiled, back in 2002, I was taken aback by the accusations. I had naively assumed that Muslims of good will would respond thoughtfully to the points I had made in the book, and a fruitful public discussion would ensue — it is embarrassing to think back on just how naive I was.
What really happened was that Hamas-linked CAIR’s Ibrahim Hooper, with Keith Olbermann guest-hosting on an MSNBC show, called me a “hatemonger,” and it was only then that the Islamic supremacist strategy dawned on me: they would smear and defame every foe of jihad terror, until there were no foes left, and everyone else was afraid to speak out for fear of committing professional suicide. No opponent of jihad terror is acceptable to them: each and every one of us, and everyone who dares utter a critical word about Islamic terror, is smeared and vilified as a “bigot,” and “Islamophobe,” etc.
The agenda is clear: sweep away all the foes of jihad terror, so that the jihad can advance unopposed and unimpeded.
It has been a wonderfully successful strategy for them, although it must also be noted that it never would have gotten anywhere without the willing and eager help of the mainstream media. Now that it has come out that the media was paid by Leftist groups to reflect their agenda on the Iran nuclear deal, and that the mainstream media colluded with the Democratic Party and acted willingly as its propaganda arm, I expect it will come out eventually that the unanimously negative coverage given to foes of jihad terror was also something bought and paid for.
In the meantime, it has not been easy going up as one individual with few resources against a massively funded regime with all the power of government and media behind it. It is likely not to get easier, either, but only harder, unless there is a massive sweeping-out of the political and media elites.
And yet, in a certain sense I have had the easiest job in the world, because all I have had to do was tell the truth. Rush says: “But one of them, a guy named Bob Dilenschneider, said, ‘You know, you’re worried about this way too much. That only means one thing, and that is: You’re too effective.'” I was told exactly the same thing by the same man. The truth has a power that all the money and all the access and all the power and all the influence cannot ultimately defeat.
“It’s Our 28th Anniversary!, Rush Limbaugh, August 1, 2016:
…And just as Donald Trump has been in the public eye for 30 years and it is only recently he became a racist after he decided that he was going to run for president, it was the same with me.
My entire life I had never been known for hating anybody. I had never been known for bigotry, racism, sexism, any of the phobias. But within a month of starting my radio program, I was all of those. And I didn’t understand it at first. I didn’t understand any of it at first. You know, in a sense — and this just occurred to me. In a sense, 28 years ago I was kind of like Trump is now, in the sense that there was nobody to tell me anything. There was nobody to really advise me.
I had a couple of people who correctly identified what was going on. I mean, a lot of people said, “You need to hire a PR firm, Rush. You need to answer some of this stuff.” So we interviewed a couple PR people, and I learned very simply, PR people, you pay them to tell you what kind of work you have to do. I said, “I don’t need that. I already know what I need to do!” But one of them, a guy name [sic] Bob Dilenschneider, said, “You know, you’re worried about this way too much. That only means one thing, and that is: You’re too effective.
“And as long as you remain effective, you’re gonna be a target for destruction to these people. So you may as well get used to it, and there’s no PR campaign you can mount to do away with it. They’re always gonna be coming for you.” Because I had transcended the realm of radio and broadcasting and entertainment, and I found myself front and center in American politics, which was not the objective. But the people that constantly criticized the program claim that was the whole purpose….

Thanks for posting this article. This Supreme Court of Canada ruling, and shabby treatment of the brave and principled William Whatnot, among many other things long ago exposed Canada for the shabby excuse for a democracy it has become, and this in no small thanks to the feckless Supreme Court of Canada. Little wonder I long ago wrote to chief justice of the court, Beverley Mclachlan, to inform her she heads up “a court of supreme fools”. For me the irony is his, after graduating at UBC I returned to my native South Africa and for ten years, 1977 to 1987, through newspapers took a blunt position against apartheid and other things emanating from the National Party government of that that time. Barely a thing I wrote – in the country the Canadian media, politicians and academics portrayed as a repressive – was not published. Letter I wrote to cabinet ministers were responded to. In 1987, having read the statements from the ANC in exile, it was evident that they were heavily Marxist and likely to create a communist regime. I didn’t want that so sadly left. However, in Canada and to my dismay I discovered a Canada that wallowed in ignorance of South Africa, then the hostile focus of politicians, media and academics. Letters to newspapers in an endeavour to set the record straight never saw the light of day and over the last 28 years I’ve discovered that this is way it is in Canada. In reality through the press South Africa had far greater freedom of expression under the “racist apartheid regime”- as it was portrayed here. Today there is in Canada a disguising sex education curriculum promoting anGBTQ life-style that medical science has revealed is plagued by disease, mental disorder and suicide, but the Supreme Court of Canada, and no doubt less courts, will regard as hate speech exposing the truth about there harsh realities. This is no longer a truly free society, the free society just a facade. In fact I no longer have great ambitions to spend the rest of my life in such a country, not least because most Canadians don’t care, don’t wish to think about the implications, and don’t possess the moral fibre to fight back to ensure a free society. In my opinion Canada is now firmly on a path toward becoming an Orwellian ‘1984’-like society and not only is the media facilitating this, so are placid, complacent citizens.

Most Muslims do this all the time, lies and deceit is their motto, until the attacks begin, then it may be too late for most people to fight back. Always remember ISIS is Islam and Islam is ISIS. They are doing what the Koran tells them to do.
The godless Liberal Left do the same, political correctness is their motto too, the purpose again is to silence people from talking. They literally want to write a manual for us about what to say or not to say.

After I became alarmed about the increasing threat of Islam, I suddenly found myself accused of–yes–bigotry, and even “racism”–though Islam is not a race.
I was suddenly–much to my surprise–suddenly considered “far right wing”, as well.
Slowly I leaned that I am hardly alone–Geert Wilders, who is a soft socialist on economic matters, is “right wing”–Ayaan Hirsi Ali, who is an African feminist, is “right wing”–and “racist”, to boot, despite being black.
Never mind the liberal values that are under siege from Islam–free speech, equal rights, freedom of expression–we are *all* deemed “bigots” if we dare oppose the most unfree creed of all.

I have a similar story. I went to art school and have a degree in filmmaking. I read all the arty banned books as a teen, saw the counter culture films. I have a deep respect for artistic freedom and freedom of speech, etc. I’m fine with being challenged by art or literature or ideas I don’t agree with. However I can judge these ideas for what they’re worth. And as a woman I am especially aware of the lie of equality in Islam. We saw through that “Oh we put you on pedestal” in the ’70s. I started reading up on Islam after a really disingenuous article in the NYTimes (sorry, hometown paper) had a supposed dialogue in their feature called The Stone about the veil/burka/niqab. The main writer, a woman compared veiling to wearing a shalwar kemese, the beautiful Indian garment that is like a long shirt dress over trousers. Really?!? I knew this was essentially wrong. Then I started educating myself. A few relatives and friends think I’m crazy if not a bigot. Weird, I was the kid in grammar school who would befriend the new outsider kids, from Nigeria and Vietnam, because I knew as a Christian it was the right thing to do. I’m simply against totalitarianism. I’m shocked how people will defend it. I think a lot of it is the way a small child thinks. At a certain point in their psychological development, they will deny that they took a cookie when they were told they couldn’t have one because that would make them bad and they can’t be bad. They want to be good and they are not yet mature enough to separate people from actions. So now all these people who recycle and watch documentaries about injustice and tweet how much they hate Trump can’t be bigots! Haha! So they’ll just keep virtue signaling instead of opening a copy of the Koran. Because they are the good guys and how dare anyone think they’re bigoted!
Btw, Graven, thank you for your insight and comments. You don’t know me but I’ve been following you a long time and your smarts and sense of humor are appreciated. I especially loved your description of the “bad Santa hat” that one of the bright lights of Islamic jurisprudence wears.

To Dom107- I am responding to your comment of 7:34 am, Aug. 3, 2016. I am a Luthern Church Missouri Synod Christian lady and I too wonder why if the Pope loves Islam so much, why he doesn’t strongly suggest to his priests that they read the Quran in its entirety (in teams of priests) and site the hideous verses that abrogate the peaceful ones. Then the clergy could see and declare that Islam is not the religion of peace that Islamists say it is. Further, all Protestant clergy of every denomination should do that as well. Out of 100 converts to Islam, 65 are from Protestant denominations and 10 are from the Catholic church. My source is Pew Research Center. You can see the Protestant ministers are not doing a good job of teaching the doctrines of Christ, because if they were, few people would convert to Islam of their own free will.

This process of attempting to marginalize through name calling (triggers) goes much deeper than the superficial issues that the names represent, and even deeper than early regressive leftist like Salinsky planned. With the assistance of Shrinkdom a new religion has developed that I call the Church of Hyper-Sensitivity where from the altar of feelings the followers are taught that there only contact with reality are their feelings and for whom reality is an infrequent option. After decades of these sermons legions of savages have been sensitized to respond only to words as symbols of their selective smug feelings of moral superiority wherein facts never matter. It is rapidly becoming the dominant religion in America.

What this article does tell me is that the polarization of BOTH sides has become ridiculously extreme to the point that there is no meeting anywhere ‘in the middle’ to allow compromise. Now – when you actually ask ordinary people -in depth- about what they believe and what they think is important, without any political bent or denigration of either side, they generally all actually want the same things for their families. So it seems to me that we are all getting used by the political organizations of Left & Right in order to further their own “industries” – ie money-making machines ! Once money can be made from anything humans become totally out-of-whack and rational discussion becomes impossible. Why do I just get a feeling of ‘let me off this planet !!!’ every time I try to figure out how we could fix things ? So tiresome ! Time for some completely different political structures.

Sometimes it’s good to just test the waters with people and listen to what they think first. Respect that, and then ask questions.
Recently, I was talking with a friends daughter who is going to Purdue, and we got on the subject of ISIS, along with other topics. I mentioned that the MSA won’t even condemn Hamas and Hizbollah terrorist groups. I also asked, if it’s such a small group of Muslims that are terrorist minded, and they have ‘hijacked’ the true religion, then why is terrorism growing all over the world, and getting worse?
I noticed her gaze of looking off, and wondering.
Sometimes, it’s so important to just listen, and then pose questions regarding a subject.
Some people end up knowing a lot more than you might expect.
