Adel Daoud insists he is sane, while his lawyers are trying to consign his actions to the global outbreak of mental illness. Said his lawyer, Thomas Durkin: “Would someone please tell me how I’m supposed to counsel someone who believes you are part of the Illuminati and that I might be part of the Illuminati?”
Clearly Durkin is unfamiliar with Islamic conspiracy paranoia. Would Durkin think former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was insane because he thought he was surrounded by divine light during his 2005 UN speech?
“Illinois terrorism suspect says he’s mentally fit for trial,” Associated Press, August 19, 2016:
CHICAGO (AP) – A suburban Chicago man facing terrorism charges for allegedly trying to set off a bomb in 2012 told a judge Friday he is sane, although he giggled and did impersonations on the witness stand.
Adel Daoud spoke during a hearing to decide his mental competency to stand trial on allegations he solicited the murder of the undercover agent in the terrorism case and attacked a jail inmate in 2015, in addition to the terrorism charges.
Daoud, 22, has denied trying to ignite an inert bomb outside a Chicago bar in an FBI sting.
Speaking against the advice of his attorney, Thomas Durkin, Daoud told U.S. District Judge Sharon Johnson Coleman he often holds conversations with himself “because I don’t need a second person,” but he denied hearing voices or seeing illusions.
“If I’m crazy now, and I feel this is the best state I’ve been in, I had to be crazy forever,” he said.
Durkin contends Daoud suffers from delusional disorder, a condition he says has worsened in recent months.
“Are you the defendant in this hearing?” Durkin asked during the hearing.
“I am the hostage, yes,” Daoud answered.
Daoud’s lawyers said they can’t work with a man who believes the court system, including his own attorneys, are part of a vast conspiracy that will likely lead to Daoud’s beheading.
“Would someone please tell me how I’m supposed to counsel someone who believes you are part of the Illuminati and that I might be part of the Illuminati?” Durkin said.
Prosecutors contend Daoud understands the charges against him, can assist in his own defense and that mental competency exams have determined that while he may hold extraordinary beliefs, he is not delusional or paranoid.
During the hearing, a government psychologist and a defense psychiatrist offered differing opinions about Daoud’s mental state, an issue that essentially came down to each expert’s assessment of whether or not Daoud is delusional or extremist and idiosyncratic. The judge must determine whether Daoud’s mental state meets the legal standard for being able to face trial….

An “overvalued idea” is defined as a false or exaggerated belief sustained beyond logic or reason, but with less rigidity than a delusion, also often being less patently unbelievable.
Hitler’s Nazis were not, according to psychologists, ‘INSANE’ as such. They were victims of overvalued ideation or simply put they have ‘poor insight’. The ideology removes ‘good’ insight through paranoid and obsessive ideas . The person remains ‘sane’, though, and the personality does not become disorganized and ‘crazy’ but rather they become focussed in pursuing their obsessive goal.
Jihadist are not ‘insane’, because they are very capable of being organized in pursuing jihad-terrorism for the delusional, overvalued goal of taking over the world.

I believe Adel Daoud is sane, but that he has overvalued ideation.
An “overvalued idea” is defined as a false or exaggerated belief sustained beyond logic or reason, but with less rigidity than a delusion, also often being less patently unbelievable. This is not to say that belief in Islam isn’t absurd. It is absurd, but people overcome the absurdity by suspending disbelief through repetition and self-censoring the two primary reflexes of Muslims.
Hitler’s Nazis were not, according to psychologists, ‘INSANE’ per se. Nazis were victims of overvalued ideation or simply put, they had very ‘poor insight’. Any unchallenged ideology removes ‘good’ insight through paranoid and obsessive ideas oft-repeated. The person remains ‘sane’, though, and the personality does not become disorganized and ‘crazy’ but rather ideologues become focussed in pursuing their obsessive goal.
Jihadists are therefore not ‘insane’, because they are very capable of being organized in pursuing jihad-terrorism for the delusional, overvalued goal of taking over the world.

“Global outbreak of mental illness”????? Would this be something like the Ebola outbreak???….Wait a minute…..if there is a Global outbreak of mental illness then has it infected the whole of islam?????lsm
Roy C says
This delusional attitude toward anyone committing a violent act has infected western cultures all over the world now. Mental illness is now the default diagnosis no matter the inspiration. The loony logic is simple enough. Any act, whether from a violent Jihadist or your run of the mill mass murderer is – ipso facto – mental illness given that it falls so far out of the realm of “normal” behavior. By this logic then Ted Bundy, Richard Speck, John Wayne Gacy, and every other mass killer you can name should have received therapy because they were mentally ill. There is an old joke among criminal defense lawyers – when your client is caught standing over the body holding a smoking gun call in the psychiatrist. Now the mass media does it for them. If a Jihadist is involved there is of course a 2nd option and this is Obama’s favorite excuse – The killer is perverting Islam and it has nothing to do with the religion. Apparently he has never read the Qur’an.

Let the ungrateful bastards rot in their own country. Bring them to the US and they repay the favour with bombs, bullets and bodies.
Frank Anderson says
Rudolph Hess feigned insanity from the time he parachuted into Great Britain until the start of the Nuremberg trials. The act is a great way to gain more publicity, which is certainly part of the terrorist goal. Such an act is a fraud upon the court.
The lawyer’s duty in the presence of crime or fraud is clear under bar rules, unless the lawyer wishes to become a party to the crime. Confidentiality dies in the presence of crime or fraud. See, e.g. In Re Grand Jury, 640 F.2d 49 (7th Cir. 1980). Once attorney client privilege has been waived it cannot be reclaimed. United States v. Krasnov, aff’d United States v. Oppenheimer, 355 U.S. 5 (1957). A lawyer’s duty of zealous advocacy of his client’s interest is limited by an equally solemn duty to uphold the law and the standards of professional conduct. Nix v. Whiteside, 475 U.S. 157 (1986)
Bar rules have 2 distinct choices, from state to state. In some states when a client attempts to involve the lawyer in a planned or ongoing crime or fraud, the lawyer must first call upon the client to “rectify the same”. If the client refuses or is unable to do so the lawyer may withdraw from the case, theoretically without saying a word to anyone. In other states the lawyer shall report the crime or fraud to the affected person or tribunal.
It is entirely possible, and certainly worth arguing by the prosecution, that the defense lawyers have lost their status as attorneys and have become witnesses. I have had the pleasure 4 times of forcing an opponent’s lawyer to take the stand and testify against his client. It really puts the lawyer in a bind because if he is caught in a lie, his license is gone. That is where good information keeps the testimony straight.

Frank Anderson is to be complimented for a superb explanation of the implications of the insanity plea in the law. However, can Adel Daoud’s lawyer turn the tables on this dedicated enemy of the United States?
Clearly, Adel Daoud is under the influence of ‘overvalued ideation’ as was Rudolf Hess. The ‘jihadi spirit’ is close to a delusion, but not exactly a delusion. Adel Daoud’s lawyer, Thomas Durkin, is not aware of the passionate ‘jihad sakinah’ that many jihadists experienced…a sort of self-righteous, grandiosity and excitement… a combination of hubris and passionate disgust for non-Muslims along with the belief that Muslims have a duty to exterminate kafirs. These absurd beliefs explain the supremacist attitude and genocidal focus of jihadists.
Rudolf Hess is a perfect comparison. His genocidal focus was based on overvalued ideas and not ‘madness’.
Frank Anderson says
Please understand that what I have written applies to any crime or fraud that is either planned or ongoing in the presence of an attorney.
I wonder why I would have such precise, and tested research at hand? Could it be that I have had a client attempt to involve me in fraud, and I did not go along? Because of corruption and major political influence I was destroyed in every detail except only my body itself. There were numerous threats and several attempts. It took over 10 years to start to rebuild. But in rebuilding a new life, such as it is, I did the research to empower those who uphold the law to do just that.
Since that experience, I have had a few clients who attempted to drag me into their lying to the court, only to find out that my warnings, always given during the first interview, before their attempts, would be turned into action. Unlike most of my opponents in this situation who had no problem assisting crime or fraud, my research enabled me to catch them in the act before the court and force them to the stand.
I am retired. I cannot claim to be a psychiatrist or psychologist. But over 30 years of keeping licenses in 2 states (why would I be familiar with the 2 approaches to planned or ongoing fraud?), has forced me to pay close attention and to call in qualified help when observing alarming behavior. If a lawyer elects to perform his duty, he can. There are too many who will not. Because to them (primarily as an excuse to continue collecting fees and avoiding a bar complaint from a disappointed client) the attorney-client privilege is absolute when it is clearly, by numerous U.S. Supreme Court decisions, not. Thank you for the compliment.

Frank Anderson, from your comments above I gather that the expression “All lawyers are bottom feeders” is not accurate. You are an exception.Thank you.

I went to law school almost 40 years ago without obtaining any vocational counselling whatever. I paid my own way by saving about a third, earning about a third during the 3 years, and borrowing the remainder. I went because I saw too much abuse by lawyers. I wanted to be able to beat that abuse. I did.
What I learned 22 years after graduating and obtaining licenses in 2 states, by taking the MAPP test and confirming by the Strong and Myers-Briggs tests, is that lawyer was 463/900 on the occupational title best suited for me. BIG mistake.
About 1 in 10 lawyers deserve recognition for straight dealing and following the law. The rest have their own priorities, and many will be sooner or later, called to account. Treasure the good ones, and help bring the others to justice.

There is in fact a global outbreak of insanity. It is not, however, among mohammedans, who don’t know better and just follow their retarded rules. It is among our ‘elites’, who suffer from, more specifically, group insanity. If HC Andersen lived today, he could write the 2nd part of The Emperor’s New Clothes – which, as we know, ends a few moments after the child saying, ‘But the emperor has nothing at all on!’ Andersen ended stating: ‘The emperor was vexed, for he knew that the people were right; but he thought the procession must go on now! And the lords of the bedchamber took greater pains than ever, to appear holding up a train, although, in reality, there was no train to hold.’ – To be continued…

I believe any person, that actually believes the manure of islam, must be crazy, to some point.

Would that mean that he should be able to commit any crime and not be held responsible? If he or others are insane, they are not responsible for their actions. Were the Nazi’s in WWII nor responsible for their war crimes because they were insane? Please think about it.

What’s the matter with you guys? Did you not know, radicalisation is a mental health issue, absolutely nothing to do with Islam (which of course, as we know means ‘peace’)
In fact, the British Government has paid scientists to prove it, here’s the New Scientist piece – “Radicalisation: A mental health issue, not a religious one.”
https://www.newscientist.com/article/mg22630160-200-radicalisation-a-mental-health-issue-not-a-religious-one/
So next time you hear “I do this in the name of Allah for the Ummah as prescribed in the Holy Qur’an and ahadith ALLAH HU AKBAR!!” followed by “BOOOOOM!!” just remember, Islam….sorry ‘radicalisation’ is a mental health issue and needs our sympathy, understanding and jizya.

Ridiculous!!!!
These two are enough to establish the crass stupidity that is islam
.
And it has been adequately established in recent times . Thanks to Dr. Bill Warner, Robert Spencer , Pamela Geller,Hirshi Ali, Noni Darwish, Ali Sina ……….and other such truly wise and courageous persons of this good time.
This is for the first time in the history of islam that it has been dismantled to such precision and details along with the life of its ‘prophet’ , m’MAD.This is the first time that the islamic deception has been exposed to its fullest.
Now we have to do the rest… to throw islam out…FOR EVER !!!!

We have a similar problem with some American school children; a super abundance of self esteem. So, here we have Adel who has been convinced that he is part of the only true path (Islam) and that all others are not worthy of life. For the Nazis, it was the Uber menchen verses the rest of the world. Thus, they were sick twisted examples of life, sane by the legal terms of the day, and fit to be hanged. So, how is it different with Adel? Try him and sentence him as appropriate.

I agree with your comment. MANY years ago we had bullies who would terrify us with the prospect of beating us up and sending us home with black eyes and bruises. At some point we had enough and one of us showed him that it was time to find other entertainment. Bullies of all descriptions and goals thrive on cowardice and weakness. This form of bullying has been going on for 1400 years, and is not likely to stop in our lifetime. We know the 4 available choices. Which do we choose?
