Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Singapore: Muslims start listening to Islamic radio station, try to join the Islamic State

Aug 20, 2016 12:42 pm By Robert Spencer

“Both men became radicalized after listening to a Batam-based religious radio station called Radio Hang. The station, which claims a following in Johor Baru and Singapore, sometimes features speakers who preach extreme religious views.” Why was the peaceful, benign Islam that Rosli Hamzah and Mohamed Omar Mahadi presumably learned in their mosque in Singapore not able to withstand the appeal of these “speakers who preach extreme religious views”? Did local imams warn Muslims that Radio Hang was preaching that Islam that is not Islam, and teach them how to counter what they would hear on it? Why not?

“Singaporeans planning to join Islamic State given detention orders,” by Lim Yan Liang, The Straits Times, August 21, 2016:

The Straits Times, Asia News Network–Two Singaporeans who intended to travel to Syria to fight for the Islamic State (IS) have been detained under the Internal Security Act, the Singapore Ministry of Home Affairs said Friday.

Rosli Hamzah, a 50-year-old car washer, and Mohamed Omar Mahadi, a 33-year-old waste truck driver, received two-year detention orders this month, said the ministry in a statement.

Both men had also sought information online on how to travel to Syria to fight for IS. Rosli had searched for possible travel routes to Syria, while Omar had contacted militants for travel advice.

One of the militants was a citizen of a Southeast Asian country and he was later killed in combat in Syria, said the ministry, without elaborating.

Both men became radicalized after listening to a Batam-based religious radio station called Radio Hang. The station, which claims a following in Johor Baru and Singapore, sometimes features speakers who preach extreme religious views.

Rosli began listening to the radio station in 2009, and was introduced to IS propaganda in August 2014 by “social media contacts who shared his religious orientation,” the ministry said.

“He became interested in armed jihad and IS, and as he perused more IS propaganda on the internet, his support for IS grew,” it went on.

“He eventually became convinced that IS militants were fighting for Islam, and that their beheading of ‘enemies’ was religiously permissible.”…

So… they need to ban radios over a certain level of decibels?

It was an underlying “radio attack.” Singapore should now ban radios.

    The two men were 50 & 33.

My guess- ISIS probably wouldn’t even want them- especially the 50 year old- unless he wanted to be a suicide bomber.

50- (my opinion) too old to be (using US Army terms) an infantryman, or similar, combat arms.

33- neat the upper age limit for infantry and combat arms.

    Again-my opinion.

Judging from their Singapore occupations, I doubt that ( again, using US Army terminology) i doubt that they would be good officers..

(Please don’t say the age of Patton in WW2 when he led the 3rd Army, etc-he was career military, and had leadership experience, not a car washer; nor a refuse truck driver-)

These people-from what is written-no military or similar experience.

    just my views.

Probably would not be a loss to Singapore if they were to go to Syria and get killed quickly. Again, my views

Nut jobs will take anybody for the cause.

In the Iran Iraq war, one side used children, not teenagers, but children to clear mine fields, by giving them plastic keys and saying, “These unlock heaven so run over there.”

They use mentally handicapped, because those can’t understand what they’re doing.

They’ll take 90 year old wheelchair bound grandmas, just to blow them up.

The list goes on and on and on.

Sadly, Singapore is in a tough spot. With the Muslim majority Malaysia and Indonesia surrounding them and about 14% of Singapore”s population being Muslim. I suspect that they’ll end up seeking an alliance with China as most Singaporeans are ethnic Chinese and the US has unwisely allied itself with the Muslim nations in SE Asia to thwart China.

    • Redmond says

      Aug 20, 2016 at 8:54 pm

      Incorrect.

US is allied with Philippines (Catholic) and Vietnam (Buddhist/Atheist). China is secretly allied with Malaysia (both anti-democratics). Indonesia is neutral. Singapore can take care of itself because it has the most powerful military in the region but it is likely leaning to the American side rather than China’s.

      • Mazo says

        Aug 20, 2016 at 9:32 pm

        Incorrect

Malaysia and Indonesia are neutral because they don’t want trouble, but the USA is begging them to be anti China and is whining for them to join its alliance.

The new Philippine President Duterte promised to improve relations with Moro Muslims and with China. And he called the American Ambassador a faggot and a son of a bitch. Duterte ran for President on a platform of repudiating and rejecting his predecessor Aquino’s pro America, anti China and anti Moro agenda.

Cambodians hate the Vietnamese and view them as aggressors and Cambodians have been killing Vietnamese residents in their country recently. Cambodia rejected America’s anti China agenda and America keeps whining and complaining on how Cambodia has veteod every anti China resolution in ASEAN.

Malaysia expelled and kicked Singapore out of the Malayan union. Lee Kuan-yew wanted Singapore to stay in Malaysia but the Malays wanted Singapore out.

        • Redmond says

          Aug 21, 2016 at 7:46 am

          No they were not neutral.

Malaysia and Indonesia had extensive business partnerships with China and were shown to be pro-China during the previous ASEAN summits. They eventually switched sides when China couldn’t maintain its economic growth as hundreds of foreign investors moved out to seek greener pastures elsewhere. China, in all respects, became isolated. It’s only allies are Pakistan, North Korea, Cambodia, and to some extent Laos.

Duterte’s theatrics were all for show. He is a politician who enjoys dramatic performances in front of his wide audience. In the end, he was found to be pro-american and anti-china/malaysia after all.

It’s hard to measure what Cambodian sentiments towards the Vienamese really are because it is still considered an authoritarian state. Those sentiments will change later on following the indictment of Pol-Pot’s generals, and more ASEAN investments coming in to dislodge China’s influence.

Singapore was glad to be kicked out later on, after discovering how deep in the sewer Malaysia has been diving.

        • Mazo says

          Aug 21, 2016 at 5:20 pm

          You know zilch about it.

Its the ANTI government opposition in Cambodia which is lynching ethnic Vietnamese and slaughtering them.

The current Cambodian government of Hun Sen was installed by Vietnam after the war and is considered to be Vietnamese puppets by the Cambodian opposition.

Yet because anti Vietnamese sentiment runs so hghi in Vietnam, Hun Sen’s regime is forced to vote for China and against Vietnam in ASEAN. The Vietnamese cannot even force the puppet government to tow their line on China because of Cambodians hatred against Vietnam.

The anti Communist leader Lon Nol hated all Vietnamese and slaughtered Vietnamese immigrants in Cambodia. He hated both South and north Vietnam. The man who overthrew him, the Communist Pol Pot, hated all Vietnamese too. Cambodians on all sides on the political spectrum regardless of affiliation all hate Vietnam. Cambodians hate Vietnamese because Vietnam stole Saigon and the Mekong Delta from Cambodia in the pasy few centuries and because of Vietnamese illegal immigrants stealing jobs and Vietnamese prostitutes bringing AIDS. Cambodians have massacred Vietnamese immigrants since the 17th century and are proud of it.

The hatred towards Vietnam is at the grassroots level. Average Cambodians call Vietnamese by the slur Youn and Cambodian democracy activists lead lynch mobs to kill Vietnamese. Just yelling “Youn” during election time is enough to cause a crowd of Cambodians to beat Vietnamese to death like what happened two years ago and during the 1990s. Its not the Hun Sen government doing the lynchings. Its pro democracy and pro human rights Cambodians who hate Vietnam. They accuse Vietnam of having a secret military base in Cambodia and of flooding Cambodia with Vietnamese illegals. They hate Vietnamese more than Trump hates Mexicans.

Duterte is not for show. He was active in politics in Davao for decades and engaged in pro Moro Muslim activism while Mayor and enacted laws against Islamophobia. He is part Maranao who are a Moro ethnicity. He tampered down the Philippines rhetoric and actions after the results of the Aquino launched tribunal and is negotiating for heavy economic aid from China in exchange for freezing the Philippines actions in the dispute for his entire administration. Moro Muslim insurgent leader Nur Misuari endorsed Duterte during the election.

And you got your information wrong, Aquino was trying to suck up to Malaysia and get them to join his anti China group. He was not anti Malaysia. Indonesia was an American client state during the Cold War and was never close to China ever. Malaysia was always neutral because they don’t want war. They have to host western naval ships constantly passing through the Malaccas and never tried to antagonize them.

Above is the low IQ vegemite consumer who claimed Malaysia wants to invade Singapore.

Malaysia kicked out Singapore in a sudden snap vote because they did not want its non Malay population while Lee was agitating for Singapore to stay in Malaysia and to becime PM of united Malaysia and found it a nasty sudden surprise when he was handed the island.

The low IQ vegemite consumer forgot that the Moro Sultanates were longtime protectorates and allies of Imperial China over 500 years ago and that Moros are mixed with Chinese.

President Duterte just spat in the face of the west. He praised the Moro MNLF and MILF and said they were freedom fighters and not terrorists, he promises to personally negotiate with MNLF leader Misuari and reject America’s agenda against China, and insulted Americans and vegemite eaters. Duterte appointed special sub mayor to represent Moro Muslim interests and enacted anti-Islamiphobic laws when he was Mayor. Moro leader Misuari endorsed him for President and urged Muslims to vote for him.

Butthurt vegemite consumers are still angry over Duterte’s joke about what happened to the vegemite missionary Jacqueline Hamill in jail. He called American Ambassador Goldberg a faggot and promised to battle Americas foreign policy and be friendly with China.

Filipino Tagalog Catholics erected a statue and a plaque in Jose Rizal park in honor of their last Tagalog Muslim King Rajah Sulayman III who fought against the Spanish conquest.

The western agenda is being crushed by Duterte. Australia and America are weeping.

Cham Hindus and Cham Muslims dream of independence of their former country Champa from Vietnam. They are hand in hand and together in FULRO they fought against both South Vietnam and North Vietnam. Cham Muslims like Les Kosem and Po Dharma who fought against South Vietnam and the Vietcong used Hindu goddesses as their call signs. They Chams were allies with Buddhist President Lon Nol of Cambodia against the Vietnamese. Anyone who opposes their cause is a Hinduphobic racist. If you support the occupation of Champa, you hate Hindus. Cham Muslims and Hindus are brothers against their enemies and have never fought each other.

The vegemite nation has been threatening and bullying East Timor and demanding control of the territorial waters of East Timorese gas fields which are over 90% of its revenue. The amoral and greedy vegemite gangster thugs won’t leave East Timor alone in peace.

Spain started the first war with the Moros, pro American Marcos started the last war with the Moros. And the vegemite gamgsters back the aggressor as usual. There is not a single justification they can conjure for the war.

Singapore wanted to remain within the Malaysian Federation because it thought that Malaysia would honor the Article 11 of its Constitution. Succeeding years proved that Malaysia was not honoring its religious freedom constitutional commitments and thus becoming an Islamic police state. Singaporeans sighed with relief and glad it was ejected from the Federation in the first place.

There was no such thing as “Moro Sultanates”. Moro is a spanish derogatory word that referred to the Moroccans. It was an imaginary ethnical entity that Misuari invented during the 60’s to cloak his jihad within the mantle of political legitimacy. The whole South East Asian Archipelago were originally Buddhist, Hindu, and Animist tribal populations that later succumbed to a brutal jihadic campaign that spilled over from India.

Raja Sulaiman was considered as a secular figure just like Lapu-Lapu. Whatever political agenda that leftists thought of to make them revolutionary heroes is now moot and passe. The fact that succeeding Spanish incursions bringing in other native tribes to do battle and finally subdue them proves that these “heroic muslims” are not respected figures during their time but vilified for their intolerant behavior against other ethnic blocs.

Duterte’s anti-western stance was only meant to appeal to the leftist segments of the Philippine society. It was all for show, just like his tangential support to vigilantism during his presidential campaign but officially denouncing them later on. Duterte is a politician and knows how to look good in front of Muslim and Commie rebels alike, That doesn’t mean that he is loyal to these rebel groups or sympathizes with their beliefs. In the end, he recognized the iron-clad support of America towards the Philippine’s territorial integrity and anti-Islamic terrorism.

Everybody already knows that what Vietnam did to Cambodia was necessary. It had to be freed from Pol-pot or else no one will be left alive.

East Timor and Australia has been handling the issue peacefully without need of military threats.

Spain didn’t start the war. Jihad has been going on in the Philippines way before the Spanish discovered it.

          LOL at this historical revisionism.

Sulu Sultanate, Maguindanao Sultanate, and the Maranao Lanao Sultanates all existed. They resisted and fought against the Spanish invasion. America signed Bates Treaty with Sulu Sultanate and then violated it in 1904 by invading Sulu. Spain referred to Muslims in Mindanao and Sulu as Moro.

Mindanao, Sulu, and Manila were converted peacefully by missionaries. There was no jihad there. Brunei converted Maynila and Arab missionaries converted Sulu and Mindanao. Name and date the nonexistent war in which they were converted.

Spain started an ugly, unprovoked attack against Maynila and then Mindanao and Sulu.

Duterte is openly supporting vigilantism right now. Drug users and dealers are being slaughtered and Duterte told human rights acitvists to buzz off. Duterte is part Maranao and most of the other Maranaos are Moro Muslims.

Champa is not Cambodia. And anti-Pol Pot Cambodians hate Vietnam. The anti Communist Lon Nol hated Vietnamese and killed them. The pro democracy opposition in Cambodia hates Vietnamese and organize lynchings of Vietnamese. Its the average Cambodian on the street who hate Vietnamese and call them by the slur Youn.

Australia supported Indonesia’s occupation of East Timor, spied on their leaders and bullies them for gas. East Timor is too weak to go to war.

The UK government has set out its definition of “extremism”.
Item by item it neatly matches ordinary basic Islam.
Nothing has been hijacked, misunderstood, warped, twisted or perverted.

The only thing any new non-Muslim visitor to this forum needs to know about the creature ‘mazo’ that is posting in this thread, and that posts occasionally elsewhere, and has posted previously under other noms de plume, is that it is a Mohammedan, a proudly professing card-carrying mohammedan and can therefore be assume to be pushing the mohammedan agenda above all else.. an agenda that is ferociously hostile and ultimatley intends nothing but absolute evil for every non-Muslim on earth, unless and until said non-Muslims ‘convert’ to the religion of slavery, rape, robbery, lies and ritual murder, the religion of blood and war, Islam.

And that, therefore, NOTHING it says is to be read, trusted, or believed. Ignore it.
