Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Saudi Arabia: 2000 lashes, 10 years in jail for tweeting about being atheist

Sep 1, 2016 9:25 am By Christine Douglass-Williams

Saudi Arabia has sentenced a man to “10 years in jail and 2,000 lashes for tweeting that he was an atheist,” under its system of Sharia law. “The hardline Islamic state has a law defining atheist beliefs as ‘terrorism,’” so “God help him” is right.

And to think Westerners are still being misled with falsehoods, such as: 1. the Islamic State is an aberration, when it, like Saudi Arabia, justifies its barbaric actions by religion, invoking the literal meaning of texts from the Hadiths and Qur’an; 2. Sharia is compatible with Western democracy, which it is not; and 3. those who truthfully point out deceptions and human rights abuses perpetrated in the name of Islam are “Islamophobic.”

Normative Islam has a record of 1,400 years of barbarism and oppression, often state-sanctioned. Some of the new atheists are speaking out now against Sharia; more need to do so.

saudi arabia

“GOD HELP HIM|Saudi Arabia sentences a man to 10 years in jail and 2,000 lashes for tweeting that he was an atheist”, by Felix Allen, The Sun, August 31, 2016:

A COURT in Saudi Arabia has sentenced a man to ten years in prison and 2,000 lashes for expressing his atheism on Twitter.

The 28-year-old reportedly refused to repent, insisting what he wrote reflected his beliefs and that he had the right to express them.

The hardline Islamic state’s religious police in charge of monitoring social networks found more than 600 tweets denying the existence of God, ridiculing Koranic verses, accusing all prophets of lies and saying their teaching fuelled hostilities…

…He was sentenced under a controversial law that defines atheism as “terrorism”.

Oh that’s the wonderful religion of peace and tolerance that Obama, Kerry and Hillary talk about. Not only them our rest of the politicians, media and academia also think the same. What bunch of liars, deniers, deceivers, apologists our system has produced in this country. Net result is Islam and Muslims are winning the battle at out expense!!

Not under sharia law you don’t. I want to say “more atheists/converts out of islam should speak out because the government can’t get them all” but then I remember that a poll stated that 92% if the Saudis considered that the islamic state conforms to the values of islam so, unless a very, very large number of Saudis are just going through the motions out of fear for their lives, the state can, indeed, get them all.

As a man who worked in saudi Arabia, I am completely surprised by this relatively soft sentence. People usually get killed for such “crimes” or at least have their hands and opposite legs chopped off, as per Quran’s instructions.

        • Christianblood says

          Sep 1, 2016 at 6:39 pm

Saudi Arabia is the original source of ALL branches of islamic ideologies. However, Sunni Takfiri/Salafi/Wahhabism is the most dangerous, the most vile and the most deadly branch of political islam in the world today. The Iranian regime which is a Shiite regime is deeply anti-semitic and hateful but compared to the Sunni Takfiri/Salafi/Wahhabists, ordinary Shiite muslims are much more peaceful than their Sunni Takfiri/Salafi/Wahhabi counterparts.

        • Angemon says

          Sep 2, 2016 at 8:57 am

You’re not answering my question. I asked you:

How does “islamic ideology based in Saudi Arabia” differ from, for example, “islamic ideology based in Iran”?

What is, for example, the penalty for homosexuality in Iran compared with Saudi Arabia? How about apostasy? Or the role of women in society? I was quite clear: ideological differences. Shias are 10-15% of muslims worldwide and have always been in a position of inferiority. Saying “shiite are more peaceful” or “sunnis are less peaceful” means absolutely nothing – I could point to Oskar Schindler and say “see, Nazis are peaceful – just look at how Schindler tried to save persecuted Jews”. BTW, try telling Bahai or Zoroastrians in Iran just how “peaceful” shiites are and see the reply you get.

Anyway, ideology – please address it and answer my question.

    Poor bloke.

But you know what is remarkable? That a person pickled in Islam, brought up in the very depths of the dar al Islam, in its dark epicentre or vortex, should *still* manage to think himself free of its mind-numbing clutches.

One hopes that all the militant atheists of the western world will speak up on his behalf and criticise the Islamic apostasy law and press their governments to impose consequences on Saudi Arabia for its gross violation of human rights.

  8. Praeceptor Maximus says

    Sep 1, 2016 at 10:21 am

This just provides further proof how delusional and how stupid the western leaders are. And what liars they are. They and their Ministry of Truth (the main stream media) tell you that Islam is a religion of peace, that ISIS has hijacked a peaceful religion, that it is not Islam they practice. How many times Obama has vomited these words out of his stupid mouth? And yet here we are, Saudi Arabia sentencing a young man to 2000 lashes and 10-year jail term. When will the western leaders face the fact and acknowledge the fact that Islam is nothing but a barbaric ideology because its author, Muhammad, was a lying, thieving, murdering barbarian.

“Some of the new atheists are speaking out now against Sharia.”

    That is encouraging.
They are a brave example for some Leftist atheists in the West who rant endlessly against Christianity yet grovel and drool like Pavlov’s Dog hoping for a treat and a pat on the back at the mention of Islam then hide away in a PC closet at the slightest challenge to atheism by a Muslim.

    • Dennis says

      Sep 1, 2016 at 12:37 pm

You might want to know that many of us atheists do not drool at the mention of Islam but are quite aware of a theocracy being re-created by Islam and are actively opposed to it. Its dangers are appearing more and more in our websites and newspapers.

    • Ted Tyler says

      Sep 1, 2016 at 2:07 pm

If an Atheist manifests his atheism to a Christian, then the Christian will think bad thoughts about you, know that you are a truly a bad person and will go to Hell! Good riddance. If an Atheist tells a Muslim that he is an Atheist, the consequences could be dire. It seems unlikely then, that an Atheist would be more in fear of Islam than Christianity. I believe that most Atheists would have a philosophy close to that of Christopher Hitchens in that all religions are bad – in that their subjects believe in supernatural fantasies – but Islam is the worst of the worst. And to use my analogy from a previous post: something like: “Christianity is like a bad cold – but Islam is like the Ebola virus”.

Do you actually know of any Atheists who rant against Christians and then ass kiss Muslims? If so, it might be a proximity issue. Christians are here, believing and talking snakes, Noah’s Arc, giving God all the credit for the good stuff and blaming Satan for the bad stuff. That we can deal with -simply by ignoring it – but we get upset when Christians try to teach Creationism in our Science classrooms.

One of the distinctions between Christianity and Islam is that Christianity only slightly suppresses free thought. Believers can easily apply Cognitive Dissonance and live happily with both faith-based Religion and fact-based Science. With Islam this is nearly impossible. Only a person of remarkable intelligence and logic can escape from the intense brain-washing imposed by Islam.

A fact that is not understood by too many people is that Islam is not just a religion. Jews, Christians, Atheists, and a few miscellaneous Deists can live together under Secular Law. This cannot happen with Islam. The indoctrination is similar to that used by Communism and Charles Manson. A severe case of Stockholm Syndrome is induced whereby the victim falls in love with and supports the abuser.

What needs to be understood is that Islam eventually replaces indigenous cultures with the culture of Islam. That is – no alcohol, no dogs, no ham, and no scantily clad women in the Olympics. or perhaps we can really go back to olden times where the Olympics were only for naked men and no women were allowed. This might result is some gay-gay interaction, but not to worry. We will still have tall buildings to throw the gays off of.

I suspect that one reason that Atheists do not contribute more to Islamization is the remarkable hatred that militant Christians have for Atheists. Many Christians blame the world’s problems on Atheism and not on Religion. With that attitude, the Atheist frequently sits back, withdraws, and politely suggests that you can all go to Hell. Or – stated with more emphasis: “Hi, I’m Pat Condell. I don’t respect your beliefs and I don’t care if you’re offended. Cheers. Now that we’ve got the formalities out of the way, welcome…..”

So that is the way it is. but let us be perfectly clear. We have a Culture war going on here and it would help a lot if we were all pushing in the same direction.

      • Qui Creva says

        Sep 1, 2016 at 6:51 pm

Why should I believe that the world’s problems are due to religion, as many atheists aver, or that the world’s problems are due to atheism, as some Christians declare? There is scant and conflicting hard evidence for either statement. At present, it looks like these declarations are both more opinion than fact. Many crimes have been committed in the name of (at least some) religions, while an equal number have been committed in the name of atheism (Gulag Archipelago, anyone? How about the Reign of Terror?) The world has many ills; it is simplistic to claim that they are all due to one cause, whether religion or atheism.

What I do know is that the doctrines of Islam are deadly to secular democracy, human freedom and world peace. Perhaps we should all stick to the discussion topic – how wrong it is for Saudis to flog and imprison a man for atheism – rather than take pot shots at people who may not share our particular worldviews, but are nonetheless united with us in their rejection of Islam.

    “Atheism is terrorism”
It terrorizes the Islamic Religion with debate?
Islam has no debate except total tyranny, mental, physical, and spiritual, over all of the Muslim’s life.
    Does Atheism terrorize only Islam?
Take away God and Atheism doesn’t exist.
Atheism is merely the defence of one’s mind against the attempt to violate a person’s mind with the imposition of belief, like defence against mental rape.
I’ve met atheists from Turkey and Iran who’ve escaped to England when Islam got heavy. They all say that everything was ok until Islam turned up.
I don’t know if other Religions kill Atheists.

I’m not setting even a toe into any of these places without several squads of fully armed (and fully body Armored) United States MARINES to protect my sorry civilian tail!
It’s gotten pretty rediculous but, that’s about the size of it TODAY.
Once, not long ago, white English-speaking Business men could feel (almost) safe in these places. Because the locals themselves would keep you underguard! They wanted and needed YOUR business. And that’s all that mattered.
