They may simply be seizing the opportunity not to return to Afghanistan. Or they may be jihadis. No way to tell. But to question these training programs on the grounds that they may constitute a threat to national security would have been “Islamophobic.”
“Missing Afghans Raise Terrorism Fears,” by Bill Gertz, Washington Free Beacon, September 27, 2016 (thanks to Cecilia):
Several Afghan nationals undergoing military training in the United States disappeared from U.S. military bases this month, according to Pentagon and Homeland Security officials.
“During the month of September, seven Afghan students were considered absent without leave (AWOL) during international military student programs,” Pentagon spokesman Cmdr. Patrick L. Evans said.
Three of the Afghan military trainees fled from a Pentagon training program two weekends ago during the bombing spree in New York and New Jersey by Afghan-born bombing suspect Ahmad Rahami, raising concerns among security officials that the missing Afghan students may be linked to terrorism or plans for attacks in the United States.
The disappearance of the Afghans comes amid heightened fears of increasing Islamist terror attacks around the country. The attacks have included the New York area bombings and attempted bombings, a knife attack at a Minnesota mall by a Somali jihadist, and other regional shootings.
Two of the missing Afghans had been training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, and one was training at Fort Gordon, Georgia.
An Army source said the Afghans who left the weekend of the New York area bombings appeared to be part of a coordinated effort. The three men are being probed for possible connections to Rahami. “Initial assessment is that there is not relation and the timing is coincidental,” the source said.
Evans declined to comment on whether the Pentagon has security concerns about the missing Afghans.
Sarah Rodriguez, a spokeswoman for the Immigration and Customs Enforcement service, said authorities are pursuing the Afghans.
“ICE Homeland Security Investigations is aware of the situation, and is actively working to locate these individuals in coordination with the State Department and the Department of Defense,” she said, declining specifics because of the ongoing investigation.
However, the service, which tracks illegal aliens, was notified of the missing Afghans.
Four other Afghan military trainees fled over the Labor Day weekend, two from Fort Benning, Georgia, one from Fort Lee, Virginia, and one from an Army facility in Little Rock, Arkansas.
A defense official said two of the Afghans were accounted for and suggested the two men may have fled the United States.
It is not the first time Afghan military students have disappeared. Two maintenance airmen from the Afghan Air Force disappeared from Moody Air Force Base in Georgia in December. One was later found in Virginia….

A lot of trainee’s don’t want to fight (especially not with other Mahoundians.)..
They are only interested in the pay check…When it looks like they may have to ‘do’ something, they split…Of course some will hook up with the Taliban, especially if the pay is good…

Evidence #9001 that no good can come of bringing muslims to Western countries, let alone giving them military training…

What in the nine hells is the US doing training Afghans, and inside America itself? This has moved so far beyond ridiculous, that the degree by which it has done so is, itself, ridiculous.
The Roman Empire got pretty stupid towards the end, but I’m fairly sure nobody ever said ”Hey, bring some of those Visigoths down to the Campus Martius, we’ll get them trained up and equipped”.
I now daily expect to wake up looking into the masked faces of scientists telling me the experiment they’re running about how long a sane person can live in Bizzaro World before he tales a Black and Decker to his own skull is over, and they can’t believe how long I lasted.

Alarek was the Visigoth leader trained by the Romans who turned on them and led the sacking of Rome.

Am I baffled that we have a commander and chief so ignorant. Or is He? No? Or is he just another Muslim or Muslim sympathizer trying to destroy America? Don’t worry Hillary will probably succeed him and get the job done. The first black president and the first female president potential could of been phenomenal, but they have chose to hate freedom and America. They are winning.

What are they being taught here that cannot be taught in Afghanistan?

Probably just want their pieces of the terror pie. And if not that, apple or pumpkin, or maybe pecan. Holidays are coming. They love to *celebrate* freedom.

Much as I am for enforcement of our immigration laws, I can sort of understand why running a small kebab shop may be preferable to risking your life for the sake of commander who might well “lose” your meager pay to engage in a bit of bacha baz.

We should not be training Afgan troops outside of Afghanistan. Those misssing are probably with the parents of Mateen and Rahami.

Search the mosques.
Start with the mosques closest to the bases from which said Afghan Mohammedans ‘disappeared’.
That is: the mosques within a 10 km radius of 1/ Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, and 2/ Fort Gordon, Georgia, 3/ Fort Benning, Georgia, 4/ Fort Lee, Virginia, and 5/ the Army facility in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Then just work your way on outwards. And, btw, even if the missing mohammedans are not found, chances are, if the searches are carried out suddenly and without prior notice, all sorts of *other*. er… *interesting* things might well be turned up… illegal drugs… illegal weaponry… traces of explosives… large stashes of cash… counterfeited documents… traces of *other* “wanted persons”… who knows?

To be expected but this really shows the government really can’t properly screen the people they are training to carry and use weapons. They also can’t properly screen the refugees ! and we can expect a percentage of these refugees to be aligned with Isis . We can expect a lot more terrorism as the amount of refugees increase.

I am familiar with this program. It has been running since the 1960’s The Pentagon brings Officers from foreign countries for training, kind of an OCS school. Egypt is a good example the entire senior officer corp on the Egyptian Army was trained either in the US, or the UK, or both. General, and now President of Egypt Abdel Fattah el-Sisi is a good example. In 1992 he attended the Joint Services Command and Staff College in the United Kingdom, and then in 2006 trained at the United States Army War College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. The idea is to improve the professional standards of their countries military services. The fact the Egyptian Army’s Officer corp has been trained in the top service schools in the US, and the UK paid off big time when the Muslim Brotherhood tried to take over Egypt. The personal from Afghanistan are closely vetted in country only the best are selected so the chances of terrorism are low, but not impossible. Nothing has happened yet. This is not the first time Afgan solders have gone AWOL. These are well educated people and once they see what the United States is like they do not want to go back to shit hole that is Afghanistan. They realize because of their Western training they will be prime target for killing once they return. The Army quickly tracks them down and instantly returns them to Afghanistan.
