Noor Tagouri is aware that her status as a professional victim got her featured in this way: “I know what it’s like to have the narrative of our community be skewed and exploited in the media. I was like, ‘Hey, I know what it’s like to be misrepresented in the media.'”
But Noor Tagouri is no “renegade” for wearing a hijab. And her community is indeed misrepresented in the media, but not in the way she was claiming. She is a conformist within her own community and a darling of the Leftist media establishment that loves Sharia conformity as a manifestation of diversity and multiculturalism.
If Playboy really wanted to celebrate “Renegades,” how about Aqsa Parvez, whose Muslim father choked her to death with her hijab after she refused to wear it? Or Aqsa and Amina Muse Ali, a Christian woman in Somalia whom Muslims murdered because she wasn’t wearing a hijab? Or the 40 women who were murdered in Iraq in 2007 for not wearing the hijab; or Alya Al-Safar, whose Muslim cousin threatened to kill her and harm her family because she stopped wearing the hijab in Britain; or Amira Osman Hamid, who faced whipping in Sudan for refusing to wear the hijab; or the Egyptian girl, also named Amira, who committed suicide after being brutalized for her family for refusing to wear the hijab; or the Muslim and non-Muslim teachers at the Islamic College of South Australia who were told that they had to wear the hijab or be fired; or the women in Chechnya whom police shot with paintballs because they weren’t wearing hijab; or the women also in Chechnya who were threatened by men with automatic rifles for not wearing hijab; or the elementary school teachers in Tunisia who were threatened with death for not wearing hijab; or the Syrian schoolgirls who were forbidden to go to school unless they wore hijab; or the women in Gaza whom Hamas has forced to wear hijab; or the women in Iran who protested against the regime by daring to take off their legally-required hijab; or the women in London whom Muslim thugs threatened to murder if they didn’t wear hijab; or the anonymous young Muslim woman who doffed her hijab outside her home and started living a double life in fear of her parents, or all the other women and girls who have been killed or threatened, or who live in fear for daring not to wear the hijab?
Where is their “Renegades” commemoration? When will anyone stand in solidarity with them? Those who taunt or brutalize hijab-wearing women are louts and creeps, and should be prosecuted if they commit any acts of violence. At the same time, the women who don’t wear hijab in Muslim countries are far more likely to be victims of violence than hijabis in the West. Who speaks for them?
“American journalist and hijabi Muslim Noor Tagouri photographed for Playboy magazine,” News.com.au, September 24, 2016:
PLAYBOY magazine and a hijab-wearing Muslim woman don’t usually go hand-in-hand.
But American journalist Noor Tagouri has changed all that, appearing in the magazine’s October “Renegades” issue wearing her hijab proudly.
Decked out in jeans, a leather jacket and Converse sneakers, the 22-year-old said her goal is to become the first hijabi anchor on commercial US television.
She produces stories for Newsy, an American video news network that produces short form video news pieces.
Tagouri believes her experiences as a Muslim woman have made her a better reporter.
“To be honest, I think being a hijabi Muslim woman, helped me gain that trust [from interview subjects],” she told Playboy.
“I know what it’s like to have the narrative of our community be skewed and exploited in the media. I was like, ‘Hey, I know what it’s like to be misrepresented in the media. I won’t do that to you. I want to tell your story because it’s important and deserves justice’.
“I know first-hand that once people are re-empowered, they realise their own story is powerful and they begin to share. It’s incredibly rewarding and can even help enlighten or save others.”…

Supremacist Muslims and the Leftist•PC•Enemy•Amongst•Us pretend that the hijab is a fashion statement.
Know the Qur’an and Hadith.
From the very beginnings of Islam, Purdah is the mandatory coverage by veil of every female approaching and after puberty.
The veil is the ever present reminder of the second class status of women in the Islamic world.

And here I was thinking that being a hijabi muslim woman was asking for trouble given the pervasive islamophobia in American society and the accusations of discrimination thrown around. Boy, these people can’t keep a story straight, can they? They can’t have their cake and claim it was stolen by an islamophobe.
John Boston says
This whole cause celebre of the headscarf/hijab is missing one terribly important point. In the Qur’an, nowhere does it say to wrap some little scarf around the head. No. Qur’an 33.59 reads, “Oh Prophet! Tell your wives, and your daughters, and the women of the believers, to cast their garments down over themselves (when abroad): it is convenient, that they should be known (as such), and not molested.”
It is very clear what Muhammad (sallalahu alaihe wa salam) meant: the woman’s garment must drape her entire shape, so that she is not mistaken for an “infidel whore”. The phrase “cast garments down..” is the plural of “adna al-jilbab”, and actually specifies the exact clothing, right up to today: the jilbab. Google “jilbab” and you will see page after page of the same thing. Therefore all these Muslimas being so self-righteous about their little headscarves are actually disobeying Muhammad (saws)!

If she were really a “Renegade” she would be posing nude and let the (islamic) chips fall where they may. That would be a true “Renegade”.
carol says
I think she’s coming close to a snuff film – a tilted head with a gasping mouth and a scarf wrapped around the throat. But when is hypocrisy new to Islam?
gravenimage says
It also means that any woman who *doesn’t* wear Hijab is fair game for Muslim rape.
Mark A says
I’m afraid I don’t see anything “renegade” in this.
A Muslim woman posing in a hijab seems pretty routine to me.
Peggy says
It’s a step up from the bourqua.
Can’t believe that Playboy didn’t ask her to do a swimsuit spread wearing a burquini. That thing will make her look like a smurfette and we all know she a sexy mama.
How long before she becomes a house bunny?

This takes ” I only read the articles” to a whole new level. Playboy continues to struggle to be relevant in an Internet based culture.
They are so desperate to be relevent that they are attempting to create non conformists out of thin air.
Playboy ” jumped the shark ” years ago. When is the last time you heard of anybody buying it?
Sog says
The “Playboy” enterprise has been past it’s death throes years ago.

All that’s left is it’s final twitches; This Hijab thing being a case in point. It’s as “edgy” as a drunk homeless woman with a load in her pants and wearing a sweat stained headscarf.
Islam the religion of killers says
Think of the Hijab as a warning flag,,,,, danger danger,,, avoid engageing with muslim woman, avoid workplace hassle over prayer breaks, interaction with others, & harping on about Islam,,,
avoid avoid ..!!
The Hijab has a truth, do not associate ,, this woman will have men behind her just waiting to subjugate, lie, steal, molest and all the other blessings the Koran possesses …
Infidels should see the hijab like a sign on a building site,, don’t go anywhere near the site without the proper safety equipment ..
The hijab is a warning in disguise .. the only good thing about it is they have to wear it …
Chrissie says
I’m sorry, she’s wearing a scarf in a western style. There is nothing islamic, or daring, in this. Together with her western clothes and make-up, what a fraudulent article this is.
carol says
Well, she got an opportunity to whine and play the feisty “skewed” one:
“I know what it’s like to have the narrative of our community be skewed and exploited in the media. I was like, ‘Hey, I know what it’s like to be misrepresented in the media.’”
Our eyes are watering. Hey, why don’t you get a real religion?
Paul Clark says
Although I respect any Muslim woman asserting her God given rights and her feminism, I find carousing with Playboy is like playing with a rattlesnake.

Wait–what? You object to Playboy, but not to Muslim savagery? Surely you don’t mean this?

Subjugation chic: Playboy features hijab-wearing Muslima in “Renegades” issue
…………………….
“Subjugation chic” sums up this insanity…
Rob says
“Subjugation chic” is just modern new-age-speak for ‘sado-masochism’
carol says
Or autoerotic asphyxiation is what the pose suggests.
Neville J. Angove says
Women happily wearing the hijab or burka or naqib, and justifying it, and women converting to Islam because they claim conversion is a sign of them expressing their freedom, are either idiots or liars.
Voluntarily wearing those garments, or converting to Islam, is simply a woman deciding that she no longer wishes to decide anything, and is entering into slavery to Islam because she feels most comfortable not having freedom of thought.
But that should not be condemned, should it? Social Justice Workers do the same, and even make incredible connections between gay rights and Islamophilia, climate change “deniers” and Islamophobia, and even Black Lives Matter and Islam.
carol says
Neville…some people get a sense of power out of being “contrary” (they’re usually narcissists). Women who “go over to the enemy” probably envision a future with feet propped up on the bed and their mate struggling to make a livelihood for all.
scherado says
Guess what Sparkie? Everyone who has EVER had a story written about themselves knows what’s it’s like to be misrepresented by media. Get in line.
jude newman says
Renegade Phooey. A muslim can’t be a renegade in the West, they’re too pampered and the general population are always there to tell her how good she is when she stubs her little toe.
A real renegade would be over helping females in islamic countries to have a few rights and to be treated as human.
Oh you poor little princess being misrepresented in the media, I’m sure all the adoring fans will make it right.
Baucent says
What about a nice on location shoot of Noor in Saudi Arabia where she drives a car. Now that would be renegade.
Susan B says
LOL I wish there was a up vote button.

Jack Diamond says
You just know she’ll will be anchoring the “news” for MSNBC soon, if not FOX.
BC says
Oh the hypocrisy, a magazine that made its name by showing naked women when that was outside the mainstream, now boasts of showing a fully clothed Muslim woman in a a hijab.
Judi says
Does Playboy think they’ll sell more copies of the magazine by showing a muslima in a hijab? Big deal. If anything, it will probably deter men from buying it.
Peggy says
Muslim men especially won’t buy it. She’s not showing enough.
My Shari'a Moor says
When has any man ever READ ‘Playboy’?
I never READ it.
With its “new” format, I especially won’t LOOK at it, now!
Joe Bob says
Hopefully those peace loving Muslim Fundamentalists won’t kill her.
It’s SUCH a peaceful loving religion/belief system !
Why, they make gays go right to heaven by throwing them off roof tops! !
Honor killings? SURE ! !
