UK: Muslim teacher sues school for racism after being fired for objecting to 9/11 video

Sep 25, 2016 7:15 pm By Robert Spencer

Young children should learn about 9/11. Suriyah Bi’s agenda is obvious. And she is suing for race discrimination? What race is the jihad mass murder of innocent civilians again? I keep forgetting.

suriyah-bi

“Muslim teacher is suing a school for ‘race discrimination’ after she was sacked for objecting to a video of 9/11 being shown to 11-year-olds,” by Alex Matthews, Mailonline, September 25, 2016:

A Muslim teacher is taking legal action against a school over claims she was sacked for objecting to children being shown a video of the 9/11 terror attacks.

Suriyah Bi, 24, lost her job at Heartlands Academy in Birmingham, after just a week of being a teaching assistant in a year seven class there.

She claims that she was shown the door after she complained it was not appropriate for the 11 and 12-year-olds in her class to watch the ‘X-rated’ clip – that showed the horrors of the attacks on World Trade Center in New York, in September 2001.

Ms Bi, an Oxford University Graduate, from Yardley in Birmingham, is now pursuing claims against the school for unfair dismissal and religious discrimination.

The video was not mentioned in detail during the brief preliminary hearing which dealt with technical and legal matters.

But outside the hearing, Ms Bi said: ‘It was shown to some 30 children during class. I understand the video was shown without the permission of the authorities.

‘It raised questions about what safeguards there are in schools to protect children.

‘These were children aged 11, of whom many knew little, or nothing, about the 9/11 horror.

‘They were subjected to graphic scenes and some were shocked and upset. The video not only showed the plane crashing into the Twin Towers but also showed people committing suicide by jumping to their deaths from the tower blocks.

‘Such young children should not been shown things like that because it is well-known that it can play on their minds and even induce them to kill themselves.

‘I was in the classroom when the video was shown and I quickly objected. Later, I was told to leave the school.

‘There was an investigation into the matter but I was dismissed for making a whistle blowing complaint.’

Ms Bi said she believed no action was taken against the teacher who screened the video, but some people regarded the showing as ‘misguided’….

She may have a point. Though I don’t know the context surrounding the introduction and display of the 9/11 scenes I would question some parts for children that show people jumping out of the windows.

On the other hand her facial expression is hateful: It reeks of “I’m gonna get ya ya dirty Kafer”.

I bet many of these kids have a Playststion or XBox and play video games. How many parents allow kids to play 1st person shooter games? Or watch R rated movies once in a while? I’m guessing most of them do. So any footage of 911 attack would be quite mild compared to some video games – and, the kids would be equally dissociated from video games, movies and 911 footage.

Little miss jihad’s claim is nothing more than anger that these kids will have learned something of Islamic jihad and will no longer be easy targets for da’wah.

Big difference: video *games* vs the reality of 9/11.

Agreed that her motives may be different, but I still think seeing people jumping from the buildings would be too harsh for such young children.

And many parents don’t allow violent games and movies, because they want to protect their children a bit longer.

Children younger than this were *victims* on 9/11. The idea that children should know nothing about this is, I believe, misguided.

Agreed Graven! Keeping our children in the dark about 9/11 is a lie. Why would we want to lie to our children, who later will say “why didn’t you TELL me about this? Why wasn’t it discussed?”. How many movies have people dying in them? Those are the lies! Kids need reality, not pretend, and if it makes them upset, fearful, angry even distraught it it is ridiculous to assume it will damage their poor little psyches forever. MILLIONS of American children witnessed the 9/11 attacks. It was on National TV for weeks. I hope the courts consider this fact.

Linnte, I don’t think fiction is a bad thing for children at all–things like the Harry Potter books are very good, and take a moral stance.

But children also need to learn about history–especially recent history. 9/11 is still effecting all our lives.

I agree that children need fiction. Harry Potter, Tolkien, everything! I am a HUGE fan of fiction Fantasy like The Shanara Series. Kids need Santa and other imaginary things. But yes, they do need reality, and it is a discredit to kids to underestimate how much reality they can handle.

No matter how “correct” she sounds, here is a fad taste in it all… She is using this platform to win more “friends” to her cause, which is private, and not public…why let her do that? And, she is “so caring” for the kids…at the same time she represents and will induce, indoctrinate, these kids by the lure of her face (not race!) into the “great religion” who cause 9/11… come on… Stop using “racist” / and make up for your atrocities against the Yazidis, sex slave women, punishment on small kids, mutilation, stoning….etc.

    Sep 25, 2016 at 9:00 pm

Birmingham, like the Heartlands Academy Ms Bi worked for, is stuffed full of Muslims. Anyone taking a casual glance at the academy’s website might think it’s a Muslim school: http://www.heartlands-academy.org.uk/

The Mail’s article, http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3806551/Muslim-teacher-suing-school-race-discrimination-sacked-objecting-video-9-11-shown-11-year-olds.html, also contains this: “E-Act, who run the academy, told the tribunal judge Ron Broughton that the teacher no longer wanted to work for them.”

Apparently, the video was shown to a class who “…had been studying a poem called Out of the Blue, by Simon Armitage, about a victim of the 9/11 terrorist attack. The poem is part of the AQA GCSE syllabus.” Therefore, there appears to have been a good reason to show it.

    • gravenimage says

      Sep 27, 2016 at 7:17 pm

      Thanks for the background, Martin.

Here is the poem in question:

      http://www.scottishpoetrylibrary.org.uk/poetry/poems/out-blue-12

The poem itself is fairly mediocre.

But while it is about a deeply troubling subject–those who had to jump from the towers–it is not graphic, nor is there any indication of who flew into the towers or why.

I wonder how the Mohammedans in this school reacted to this terrible Infidel suffering?

There have been times when Muslim children *cheer* Jihad terror:

In NC the democrat leader have taken the political party affiliation off some of the judges because too may conservatives judges were being elected. Even the democrats were voting for conservative judges. Tell you something? The Republican are in power, but they have not changed this? This is why I ask: Where have all the Christians gone? Have they fled in the cross. They have set in their pews and remained mute. They should demand repeal or reinstatement of the party designations on ballots. UK: Muslim teacher sues school for racism after being fired for objecting to 9/11 video
    ……………………………

What “race” compels the whitewash of Jihad savagery, and bars any objection to it? sarc/off

    More:

She claims that she was shown the door after she complained it was not appropriate for the 11 and 12-year-olds in her class to watch the ‘X-rated’ clip – that showed the horrors of the attacks on World Trade Center in New York, in September 2001.

    ……………………………

What *absolute crap*. Notice that this Muslimah stated *no* objection to the perpetration of 9/11 itself–in which eight children were murdered along with almost 3000 other innocent people–but just to anyone learning that it happened.

That eleven-year old children *didn’t* know about it is, in fact, appalling. This would be like children in 1957 never having heard of Pearl Harbor. Actually, it is far worse, since the Axis was no longer a threat then–would that we could say that about Jihad now.

All of these children are still under direct threat from the ideology that caused 9/11–the same ideology that this teacher follows.

Here was a recent terror threat in the Birmingham area:

“UK: Five Muslims arrested on terror charges, bomb disposal team called in”

Why did she lose her job as a T.A. after only one week? This sort of thing is almost unheard of! She must have done more than a couple of things wrong for that to happen, but of course Muslims are never wrong, are they? Plus the sense of entitlement she might have with an Oxford degree (assuming she went to one of the main colleges there). No, this sounds like pure opportunistic spite, as we have a often seen from the likes of the Islamic Ms. Bi. And the sheer hypcritical nerve of this sort of objection to THIS particular subject matter coming from a MUSLIM will not be lost on the court, bearing in mind the underlying reason for the case being brought – which was nothing to do with the sensibilities of the children but everything to do with the frustrated arrogance of Ms. BI

The judge who handles this case should agree with her that it’s inappropriate to expose kids to this level of violence and act accordingly: ban this clip, and also ban kids from access to the Koran, which is so full of unimaginably vicious threats by an alleged all-powerful god that any kid who is exposed to it must in all likelihood become traumatized. Koran’s viciousness in relegating most humanity to eternal tortures in Hell far outdoes any violence ever perpetrated in this world. Ban all youth under eighteen access to mosques, and make criminally liable any adults who facilitates exposure of the young to Islam. Proscribe Muslim parents from teaching their kids about Islam. Make mosques pay a special tax which will provide meaningful compensation to families whose members became victims of Muslim terror, or face closure.

Linnte, here are the results of an ABC News poll taken just a year after 9/11, which deals with American children as young as twelve, who were eleven on 9/11. And these are not just kids who heard about 9/11 in a controlled classroom setting, but who *can remember it happening*:

“Just two emotions measured in this poll haven’t subsided, both almost universally held: Ninety-two percent of teenagers say they’re angry with the perpetrators of the Sept. 11 attacks. And 88 percent say they’re confident in the United States’ response.”

        Here are some studies….

        https://consumer.healthday.com/kids-health-information-23/kids-ailments-health-news-434/helping-kids-cope-with-9-11-all-over-again-508137.html

        http://www.oneindia.com/2008/02/05/911-had-increased-impact-on-traumatised-children-1202225538.html

So I’m not sure you can assert that watching graphic 9/11 videos will not have any traumatic effect on young teens.

With all respect, S Brown, the idea that no one younger than fifteen should learn that disturbing things have happened in history is just ridiculous. It is impossible for children to develop a real moral sense if they don’t understand that some people do bad things.

This is especially egregious in this case, because these kids are *themselves* at risk from violent Jihad. Do you believe that Jihadists don’t target children?

      http://beforeitsnews.com/alternative/2012/03/1935513-1935513.html

Then there was the horror of Beslan. And children themselves were murdered on 9/11.

The idea that no one should watch a video about 9/11 until they are half way through high school might explain in part why so many people are completely ignorant of the Jihad threat.

You misread my post. We’re talking about the showing of a particular video not the discussion of 9/11. Discussing 9/11 is important at any age especially if students are questioning the jihad that continues to thus day. But showing a video of the people jumping out the windows may not yet be appropriate at that age. There is no need to show that particular video to discuss the events and consequences of what happened that day. And yes child development DOES play a factor in what you discuss and when whether we
        like it ir not.

S Brown, we are not talking about preschool children who would be unable to process this and would just be frightened. Eleven year olds are more mature than this. I think you underestimate the capacity of older children to understand things.

Did you read the ABC poll of children as young as twelve and their reaction a year after 9/11?

11 and 12 year olds cannot be traumatized by horrifying things? You raised tough kids. You feed them nails? The videos I’ve seem of the victims falling to their deaths have horrified me and many adults I’ve known. There is no compelling need to show THIS video in order to discuss 9/11 with this age group, none.

Yes I read your poll. A significant number in teens to twenty percent claim high anxiety due to 9/11. These are collateral damage then and well worth the attempt to show highly graphic images to very young teens? When a plethora other ways are available to discuss the events and issues? Do you really believe this?
