On August 18, 2016 in Los Angeles, I was interviewed by an Orthodox priest, Father Josiah Trenham of Patristic Nectar Films. It’s a lengthy and wide-ranging interview touching on a number of important subjects, including the goal of jihad, the treatment of Christians under Islamic law, and the abject failure of Western political and ecclesiastical leaders to alert their people to the nature and magnitude of the jihad threat.
Moses says
The main purpose of Islam is to dominate the world but many leaders are blind to this fact. What a shame.
Jay Boo says
There are only two Abrahamic faiths.
Muslims are furious that — Islam is not one of them.
Shane says
Obama is not blind to that fact; he is aiding the Islamists because he hates America and Western Civililzation.
JIMJFOX says
Western culture wants/needs conflict.
Bullshit!
Teresa Hall says
Only idiots thinklike that. Now gov’ts wanting conflicts to further their agenda, forget about the populace,oh yeah. fon’T TRUST Any gov’t Nowadays. Why we must elect Trump to see if a non politician patriot can make the difference our nation’s people want and need.
Joseph Mulvey says
This is very well done, set forth with facts and historical evidence and not emotional crap.

Great interview.

Thanks, Robert, for doing this piece and supplying gracious answers. It’s great how you do not emit, “uh…uh…uh” in your speech like some politicians. It’s too bad that the MSM doesn’t give you this kind of platform to speak for so long and not be interrupted. The flute melodys at the beginning and end are a bit humorous when you see “Jihad” as the topic. Of course we must say Amen to the priest’s commendation of your work and the niche you have filled by operating JW.

Let us remember to pray to God the Holy Trinity for the welfare of Mr. Spencer and Pamela Geller and all the others who know the truth and are trying to educate the public. Our leaders are preaching falsehoods to us concerning Islam so we are the ones that have to study and teach others. And God help us, then, to pay the consequences of telling people the truth about Islam which often the public does not want to hear..
PH says
Your comment on those with a sinister globalist objective is quite chilling. i hope you can expand on this point in the future letting us know more about this objective and who is behind it. Are there published documents that can shed more light on this?

Arguably the best interview with Robert. It is an unusual situation, when both people express understanding and knowledge about the subject they discuss in intelligent and respectful manner.
It seems that the orthodox church has better understanding of islam, being in contact with it for far longer time then the western churches. It was very reveling when the prist reminded us about J-P II kissing koran. Most catholics, even on this blog, have been trying to present the views and actions of pope francis as an aberration of catholic attutude to islam. For many years I have been trying to explain that pope frabcis is providing the real attutude of catholic church toward islam and the resignation of his predecessor was due to his misunderstanding or unwillingness to understand that attutude.
I am very nervous about presidential elections in US. With hrc in the wh, there will be pressure to silence Robert. His life and work is already difficult enough. With hrc as a president, it might become impossible.

Great interview, Mr. Spencer — very illuminating from both theological and historical perspectives. I had to look up many of the religious figures mentioned on Wikipedia, to educate myself and to better appreciate the discussion. As someone interested in theology, this was a fascinating discussion.

An excellent discussion. Very informative.

If I was President, Robert Spencer, Raymond Ibrahim, Daniel Pipes, Wafa Sultan and Andrew McCarthy would be on my National Security Council, I promise you that.

“Much of what is happening now is happening because our leaders are allowing it and enabling it. If we only had leaders who stood up we would find, as is so often the case with evil, that it is not as formidable as it seems to be.”
Guy Jones says
Hugh was an omission, but, he’s definitely worthy; no doubt.

Excellent. Unfortunately those who really need to be informed such as our Western politicians especially the European ones won’t listen to Robert. I’m not talking about the media people, they refuse anyway and cry Islamophobia, they’ve been well groomed for a ‘fair’ discussion of Islam by the domestic Muslim organisations such as CAIR in America. I’m always shocked when I realise how great CAIR’s impact in the States is. In Europe the percentage of Muslims is much higher and it’s even worse.
Thanks Robert for emphasizing that the counter of the “The religion of peace” gives the number of attacks after 9/11, the number of casualties is much higher. Again JW readers know that but those who need to be informed don’t. We have to carry on and tell everybody the truth about this Nazi ideology.

I too thank God for you Robert. Grateful for all who post here in the comments, and other article writers also.
So Orthodox Catholic is just where I think I need to be. Now to find a church near by. Wish me luck everyone.

I am STUNNED! Right down the road about 45 minutes away is an Orthodox Church!!! Smiling huge because I just feel like I won the LOTTERY! What are the chances? Haahahahahaha! WOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Great fire of Smyrna, 1922:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_fire_of_Smyrna
Fire was set by Kemal Ataturk’s ‘secular’ force. That force, meanwhile, completed Greeks cleansing from Black sea coast, thus eradicating for good its, Pontus, segment of the ancient Helennic civilization on Asia Minor, and then, by that fire, the last, the Aegean segment of the Hellenic civilization. So, ‘secular’ islam continued the overall cleansing activities of the Osman (Ottoman) islam, including the Armenian genocide peak of 1915.
Before the WWI, Turkey’s Christian population amounted to up to 20% of its all, with Greeks 11%, Armenians 7%, with more that 2,000 schools each and thousands of active churches. Today, Turkey is proudly 99% muslim.
Conclusion: Never fully believe even the ‘secular’ islam.
One of the families that had fled Smyrna / Izmir in 1922 had been yours.
Another famous Greek family fleeing has been that of Aristotle Onassis, the future American owner of probably largest ever privately owned shipping fleet, and the future husband of J.F. Kennedy’s widow, Jacqueline Kennedy-Onassis:

1856!
The Treaty of Paris!
Never thought I’d hear anyone bring up the Crimean War.
Here, we had an Islamic-Christian contention degenerating into a political squabble between Nicholas I and Napoleon III, producing an Ottoman-French-British alliance against Orthodox Russia.
But, it did wind up relieving Christians under Ottoman rule.
Pretty hard to criticize the absurd situation, given the even more absurd situation, today.
However confused the issues, there were, in 1853, at least, formal borders, lines of battle and a clear, if complicated, political agenda in the treaty in the hands of some hard negotiators who actually did understand all the issues.

Fantastic interview. I wish every young person, who attends university, could see this. Here are my comments about some of the issues discussed.
The reason that young people revile the crusaders is because the western historians demonized the crusaders. (Years ago when I was a university student, I tried to expose this lie, but I didn’t get anywhere.) This sorry state of affair that has beleaguered the western world did not come about over night; it has been in the making for nearly a century now. It is the fault of western historians who promoted Islam and its prophet by praising it. At university, you couldn’t write a critical essay on Muhammad and expect to get a good mark. Muhammad, they said, was unfairly maligned. It is also their fault that we have PC & MC. One British historian (I forget his name now) while reviling the British Empire, accusing it of committing genocide and other abhorrent acts, defended Islam and Islamism. Islam wouldn’t have progressed this far in the west, had it not been nurtured by the west.
Richard Paulsen says

There is a very strong contrast between this interview and the debate with Msgr Swetland. Interestingly these are both about the same length, and the format’s are different, but it is clear to me that there is a wide difference of opinion between Roman and Orthodox branches Christianity. It is worthwhile to listen to both of these interviews together.
This just punctuates the absurdity of the position taken by Swetland in my opinion.

Such a high quality back and forth in the video interview between Mr. Spencer and the orthodox priest. Impressive stuff.

I totally agree with Robert on his assessment of Islam, (particularly the Saudi-backed Salafist movement – which is the parent of IS, Al-Qeada and other jihadist offshoots), with this one exception. He says at 20:26 “,,,even in countries where Islamic law is not enforced to this day, there is no Muslim majority country where Christians have equal rights.” I am a Christian missionary in Senegal, in West Africa, which is 95% Muslim by population, but has a democratic government, and Christians do have equal rights granted by the constitution, and enjoy freedom of religion. This is a rare case, but it is also true in several other West African countries (such as Mali and Burkina Faso). There are some who would like to see this changed, but for now, they are in the minority, and the government in Senegal has been proactive in combating the threat. I do appreciate Robert’s dedication to educating people to the danger posed by jihadist Islam.

My favorite interview so far.
There’s profound respect and a great dynamic between you and Father, based on a shared willingness to speak hard truths
calmly and rationally. A non-PC member of the clergy is such a treat!
