Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Afghanistan: Man in Afghan military uniform murders US soldier and US civilian

Oct 20, 2016 5:13 pm By Robert Spencer

The headline says that the killer was a “man in Afghan uniform,” but there is no reason why he couldn’t have been an actual member of the Afghan military, which is rife with jihadis who hate the Americans who are training them. These “inside the wire” murders keep happening because there is no reliable way to distinguish an Afghan Muslim who supports American troops from one who wants to murder them, and Obama’s politically correct policies prevent authorities from making any attempt to do so anyway, because it would suggest that Islam is not a religion of peace. So ever more U.S. troops are sacrificed to this madness.

“Man in Afghan uniform kills 1 US soldier, 1 US civilian,” Fox News, October 19, 2016:

A man wearing an Afghan military uniform killed a U.S. service member and an American civilian outside the capital city of Kabul on Wednesday, officials said.

The incident occurred at Camp Morehead, a U.S. special forces base, a U.S. defense official told Fox News. It was described as an “inside the wire” incident.

A NATO statement said another U.S. service member and two U.S. civilians were wounded in the attack and were in a stable condition. A defense official told Fox News the shooter opened fire at the entrance to the base, where he was later killed.

“Anytime we lose a member of our team, it is deeply painful,” the statement quoted General John W. Nicholson, Commander of U.S. Forces-Afghanistan. “Our sympathies go out to the families, loved ones, and the units of those involved in this incident.”

The Afghan defense ministry launched an investigation into the incident, Dawlat Waziri, spokesman for the Afghan defense ministry, told reporters.

The victims were conducting duties as part of the larger NATO mission to train and advise the Afghan security services, and an investigation was being conducted to determine the exact circumstances of the incident….

So, why are we even there in Afghanistan? I don’t understand that part. In fact, I would love a quick, concise breakdown of this past involvement in the ME since 9/11. I know that is asking a huge lot of info. Or, maybe you know where I could search the net to find similar?

      • gravenimage says

        Oct 21, 2016 at 4:31 pm

Well, Linnte, I think our going into Afghanistan initially soon after 9/11 made sense–we ousted the sanguinary Taliban which had given safe haven to Osama bin Laden and Al Qaida.

But then we stayed–insanely, to try to build democracy in a place that is almost 100% Muslim. Then, even worse, we saw Afghanistan adopt a constitution that enshrined Shari’ah law, and didn’t appear to grasp that that meant that that Muslim state was not about to even attempt democracy.

Even without the full return of the Taliban, Afghanistan now has *stoning* back on the books. For a long time, I soon questioned our being there, but was somewhat comforted by the fact that at least the Taliban was no longer stoning women in the streets. Now this is apparently moot, as well.

And we are defending this grotesque “government”.

And over the past fifteen years, Afghanistan has been bleeding us financially and–much worse–murdering our troops and support staff in “Green on Blue” Jihad attacks. (This originally referred to attacks on UN troops–also known as “blue helmets”–but just now refers to any attack by Afghan troops on American or coalition forces).

Our being there has long since ceased to serve any useful purpose. We should pull out and end our aid.

Watch this video of a Kabul woman falsely accused of burning a Quran.

The mob beat her, stoned her, then burned her to death…then realized they made a mistake: She never burned the Quran. No matter, on to the next senseless killing.

And this is all happening in a city being controlled and occupied by US Forces, so we can only imagine the horrors happening each minute throughout the rest of Dar al-Islam, where there is no sane US supervision whatsoever.

I agree. Let’s get the hell out of there. After 15 years, and all the American blood and treasure we’ve spent, Afghanistan is arguably no different today than the day we first set foot there.

The problem for all of us though is that these problems, like in the video here, aren’t isolated and contained. Given enough time, with our indifference and inaction, the whole World will look like this. The Ummah is deadly serious about it. They’ve been working on this project for 1400 years, and all that’s required for their success is for good men to stand by and do nothing.

So what will we do about it? Many have different ideas. IMHO, most of the ideas are naive.

This is a World War of Biblical proportions now, and a commensurate level of epic response is required for victory. Look what we had to do to win WWII. We now face a much larger, more dishonorable enemy, with no uniforms and no front lines. They’re trained liars, living among us, convincing the useful idiots they’re our friends.

          https://youtu.be/LzO74mxWCt4

People can believe me now, or believe me later, but I firmly believe, as a US combatant military officer, with 6 years war experience, and over 1500 Intel briefs, that the following is our only option. The good news is we can solve this in less than 10 weeks, for less than $10 Billion, without losing one Allied soldier’s life.

If anyone has a better idea, I’d love to hear it. But all I ever hear are crickets…

And gone are the days of Sherman, Pershing, MacArthur, Patton, and LeMay: Men with the balls to kill millions and tell the POTUS exactly what he needs to hear. Now, more than ever, we need them.

When are we ever going to be tired of being fed this wet noodle every time our military men are gunned down in cold blood by the jihadists among the muslim fold that we take in for training? The same goes to the civilian casualties caused by islamic jihadis on every affected city globally. Those old and regurgitated words, it’s no comfort nor a solution. The anonymity of U. S. soldiers and civilians killed or wounded in Afghanistan or any other Muslim country is an indictment of our political leadership. These soldiers have names; they have families. Yet, their families grieve alone, without the support of a nation’s expressed condolences and prayers. Those murdered have given their lives in the name of this country; yet this country can not bother to reveal their names.

I am familiar with military notification protocols and Casualty Assistance Officer responsibilities, having been assigned those responsibilities as a collateral duty, but the communications technology available today streamlines those processes. There will be no follow-up news report to identify these patriots.

May those grieving families come to know that some of us will try to learn their names and honor those who died.

      • Cecilia Ellis says

        Oct 23, 2016 at 5:37 pm

Daniel, thank you for your reply. I was able to learn the names of those Americans who were killed. Here is the information as reported by “The Hill”:

“Sgt. Douglas J. Riney, 26, and Michael G. Sauro, 40, died of wounds received from ‘encountering hostile enemy forces,’ the Pentagon said in a statement late Thursday.

Riney was from Fairview, Ill., and was assigned to the Support Squadron, 3rd Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.

Sauro was from McAlester, Okla., and was assigned to the Defense Ammunition Center at the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant.

The two died in an attack Wednesday that also wounded another U.S. service member and two other U.S. civilians.

Brig. Gen. Charles Cleveland, spokesman for the Resolute Support mission, said Friday that a team of U.S. advisors had been sent to inspect an ammunition supply point at the edge of an Afghan base.

As the team approached, they were fired on by a shooter, he said.

‘The incident was over relatively soon,’ he said at a briefing Friday.

The shooter was later found dead wearing an Afghan military uniform, Cleveland said.

The investigation into the attack, including identifying the shooter, is ongoing, he said.

‘Obviously the investigation is seeking to confirm whether or not this qualifies officially as an insider attack or ‘a green on blue,’ because we do not yet have the identity of the shooter,’ Cleveland said. ‘And that’s something that will come about with the investigation.'”

        http://thehill.com/policy/defense/302158-americans-killed-in-kabul-identified

So, Daniel, hidden in a few kilobytes in the Internet, the names of these patriots have been recorded. One need not wonder just what that “investigation” will determine . . . There is, after all, an agenda to protect, an agenda that takes precedence over American lives.

          Such a waste.

  11. Cecilia Ellis says

    Oct 20, 2016 at 11:26 pm

Already, many comments on this article essentially identify the vetting of Muslims as a complete failure. The long red line of victims of those vetted enemies provides all the evidence necessary to support that conclusion. That line keeps increasing.

There is no vetting of Muslims that prevails with any established accuracy. For instance, a news article published today reveals that “a battalion of Faylaq al-Sham fighters that had previously been vetted as “moderates” by the U.S. has defected to Jabhat Fateh al-Sham, the recently re-branded al-Qaeda affiliate in Syria.”

    https://pjmedia.com/homeland-security/2016/10/20/syrian-rebel-u-s-vetted-moderate-brigade-defects-to-rebranded-al-qaeda-affiliate/

It is impossible to vett one who adheres to a totalitarian ideology that mandates the killing of those who reject its supremacy and authorizes its devotees to lie in order to deceive its enemies.

I join the ranks of those who say, “Trust no Muslim,” whether that be on either foreign or domestic ground. Relatedly, that America should scoop up hordes of these thugs and transport them to American shores for resettlement is a slap in the face to those who have died trying to prevent just such an invasion.

I need to replace my now-empty bottle of Pepto Bismol.

The American soldier is being betrayed in Afghanistan arguably more than he was in Vietnam. And Vietnam, lost for political reasons, not military ones (e.g., the American military was not allowed to invade North Vietnam——imagine if the same requirement had been made of American troops regarding Germany from June 1944 onwards) was a truly wretched example (or should it be more aptly named a sterling one?) of how the political class sends the military class into harm’s way without giving said military class a chance for victory.

War is awful but the warrior for the right cause should be applauded above all others. Didn’t happen in Vietnam. Not happening now. Disgusting beyond words. And not the fault of the America military. Not at all. The political class is culpable yet again. Tragic, stupid——–and criminal.

I can’t remember a single US Middle Eastern policy in the last +25 years of ever being successful. Every single ME country even slightly touched has turned into disastrous civil war between jihadis (aka “moderate vetted rebels”) and the then-current government of that country. And regardless of whether the “rebellion” succeeded or not, it always resulted in open jihadi spawning grounds, with the most extreme example being ISIS.

But the biggest problem is the chain reaction that goes along with the growth of islamic groups like ISIS, which inspires islamists in other countries where USA hasn’t even set foot in (African countries, for example). Therefore, “radical” (aka mainstream) islam is being nurtured and allowed to spread without a hitch. And I haven’t even mentioned the “migration” which is currently going on!

The way I see it, the only ones who stand to gain from US foreign policy are the said islamists. Makes you wonder, doesn’t it?

What is our objective in staying there? Afghanistan seems to be just a black hole which sucks in western resources without producing significant positive results.

These Muslim countries need strong Dictators to hold them together and keep some semblance of order. As soon as one is deposed everything goes to hell as the various splinters are at each other throats. There is no hope for democracy in such a setting, nor do the majority even want it. They are barbarian savages who only respect physical power.

Instead of corrupt, hopeless “nation building” we should be focused on establishing strong borders while returning all “migrants” to the quarantined zone. They have had 14 centuries to grow up and reform their crazy “religion”, it hasn’t happened and it’s not going to happen now. But they do have a good chance of spreading their madness to the rest of the world, if we let them.

The ones who are perfectly placed to do as Major Nidal Hassan, a Muslim enlisted and serving within the US army, did *on US soil* INSIDE A US ARMY BASE at Fort Hood on November 5 2009.

He murdered 13 people, and wounded more than 30 others (and every person he wounded was someone he intended to KILL, even if he didn’t actually succeed in so doing).

Every Muslim in *every* non-Muslim organisation or institution is potentially or actually a saboteur, a lethal Fifth Columnist, an enemy agent.

    That is the ugly truth.

We let the Muslims into our countries and they have zeroed in on the foci of power. Sooner or later, there will be more, and worse “Fort Hoods”. In *our* countries.
