Can Mozart stop jihad? We’re going to find out, to the tune of one million euros down the drain.
Ukip MEP Paul Nuttall said: “These people obviously live in cloud cuckoo land. The Islamist hotbed of Molenbeek is just down the road from the parliament – why don’t they take their workshops there and see what difference it makes? We need proper solutions so let’s get tough on the real causes of radicalisation. This patronising nonsense from the EU will only make things worse.”
Indeed. And what’s more, this “patronising nonsense from the EU” is the direct result of its refusal to address the “real causes of radicalisation.” Because it refuses (like all the other authorities in the Western world) to acknowledge that jihad terrorism is driven by Islamic texts and teachings, it ceaselessly casts about for some other explanation, some other scenario that would make sense of the endless violence coming from committed Muslims. The poor dears just need their savage breasts soothed by Bach and Brahms and Beethoven, you see. Everything is going to be just fine.
“Stop young turning to terror…with classical concerts! EU vote to spend €1m on events sparks ridicule from Eurosceptics,” by John Stevens, Daily Mail, September 29, 2016:
Brussels is seeking to prevent violent extremism by putting on classical music concerts for young people.
MEPs have voted to spend one million euros (£860,000) on the ‘promotion of EU values through music’ despite calls to cut spending.
Member states had been seeking to reduce the total budget for next year to 156.4billion euros (£135.4billion).
But the European Parliament’s budget committee has reversed all planned cuts, pencilling in an extra £4.7billion in spending.
Among the additional projects to get funding is a scheme aimed at ‘preventing radicalisation leading to violent extremism through music’.
The proposal says: ‘At a time when the EU is facing many challenges, this pilot project aims to bring together young talented musicians from all 28 EU member states to bring visibility to Europe’s core values and assets, building bridges among people through classical music.
‘The pilot project will aim to reach out to the younger generation in Europe, especially those most at risk of radicalisation by bringing together through concerts and mentoring schemes young classical musicians and young people of diverse backgrounds.’
Ukip MEP Paul Nuttall last night said: ‘These people obviously live in cloud cuckoo land. The Islamist hotbed of Molenbeek is just down the road from the parliament – why don’t they take their workshops there and see what difference it makes?
‘We need proper solutions so let’s get tough on the real causes of radicalisation. This patronising nonsense from the EU will only make things worse.’…

A million isn’t so much but it’s misplaced. Trump has hit on a major cause of Europe’s problems. It has turned itself into an American dependency by farming out its military protection through NATO. Eisenhower warned against this dependency, and the threat of what he called the Military-Industrial Complex’s tail wagging the dog of American leadership.
It’s been 65 years since NATO was formed and only three member states pay the share they agreed to. That’s 55 years longer than Eisenhower warned NATO would be a failure and an absurd 25 years after the collapse of the USSR, the cause of the existence of NATO. When Russia sought admission they laughed. “You’re the designated enemy!” And then they considered Turkey’s admission, a nation neither Northern or on the Atlantic.
Europe’s weird superiority and inferiority complexes toward the USA goes like a yo-yo. Its disease of colonialism self-hatred is partly driven by putting itself in the colonized position by inviting a foreign army in to stay. It has done the USA no good either. One could argue that the suicidal import of the Muslim horde is an overreaction to the various guilt complexes Europe has fed itself. It was crazy before WW2 and it’s created a whole new world inside its crazy since then.
Meanwhile, the Officers of the Gravy Train, NATO office, continue to do what all organizations do: protect itself, sustain itself, reproduce, kill its enemies… even those it was designed to protect.
Back at the ranch, Hillary Clinton has hit upon the crazy in Trump’s questioning of NATO’s present status by pointing out that the one-for-all, all-for-one Article 5 has only been invoked once since WW2. (Is that proof it works or that it’s obsolete?) That time was 9/11. Wow. And what did Holland, France, Belgium, Germany do fo come to the aid of the USA by invoking that Article?

Great post, thank you. They are really a*%-backward aren’t they?:
“Brussels is seeking to prevent violent extremism by putting on classical music concerts for young people.”
I guess Caucasians are the “violent extremists” now. I’d love to see them bring their music to the real area where it’s needed. The results should give all of us a well-deserved laugh!
Why don’t they just lock US up in prison instead and save the Islamists the trouble of waiting until they infiltrate the corridors of power.
bc says
This beyond ridiculous, The Muslims at least the stricter ones believe music is haram. They even attack other Muslims for listening to it. In any case Western classical music is not likely to please the Islamic ear.
Many Westerners do not like classical music either and never listen to it.
john spielman says
how is this going to stop radicalization of muslims? – muslims are NOT ALLOWED to listen to music as instruments of music are banned!
utis says
Damned straight! Spending tax money on free concerts is a fine tribute to culture. But classical music for Muslims?! This shows what ignoring the Islamic core of radicalism gets you, if the imams get their way, all the sheet music, instruments and musicians will end up in bonfires. This craziness is way beyond deliberate ignorance of Islam’s teachings. The West needs new, sane leadership.

Darn. You beat me to it. Amazing how the Eurocrats don’t listen much to the actual dictates of the Religion of Piece.
Spartakus says
True, but I’ve known ‘muslim’ music students: if they pursue music it does show that they don’t take the quran too literally. I do think that involving young people in western art forms will give them something better to do than becoming islamists out of sheer boredom and will show them that the quran and hadiths shouldn’t be taken literally.
Surely anything to help decent people who are only nominally muslim integrate into western society is a good thing?
Caliph says
There have been studies in USA which showed in public areas like parks or small city squares, buss stops, metro stations, etc. where classical music was being played thru speakers that there was less crime. Not because the music somehow made people less violent, but that it acted as a repellent. Seems violent minded people that would seek to mug someone don’t like classical music, so they avoid those areas.
I can only wonder if the EU is (1) trying to repell Muslims so they leave ( much like the rodent repelling devices commonly available )
or (2) if the EU is that stupid, or (3) the EU wants to make its euro-citizens feel like they are doing something to address the problem ( which when it fails the EU can say it needs to throw more money at the problem ) or (4) the EU thinks its citizens are really stupid and need to told what to think and do.
I’m going to bet on 2×4

And perhaps they will take to the classics like the Nazis did or Alex in Clockwork Orange with his Ludwig Van. Or has the EU completely forgotten about people like Hans Frank? Classic music lover, good friend of Strauss, who played Chopin on the piano, who arranged music festivals attended by Hitler featuring works of Brahms and Beethoven, and who was Hitler’s personal lawyer, then who was chief jurist over occupied Poland, and who was charged at Nuremberg in the murder of 3 million people.
Not that anyone probably has to worry about Abdullah & Mohammad out there taking to The Magic Flute. However, Muslims I’ve known listen to a lot of music, and they drink like fish. They just won’t touch porky pig. And they can always expiate their sins when the time comes, or justify them with doctrines of concealment.

Stop following our so-called leaders we all do have a mind of our own and the Constitution to back us up. They cannot force us. Do they wish to renegotiate? Is that what they really want? If so, I’m in, lets renegotiate and perhaps separate as there is no living peaceably with these types. No one nor any group can make us think, believe or do what we refuse to think, believe or do.

What the… I don’t even…. This is beyond absurd! Alright, this stupidity has gone on long enough! CLASSICAL MUSIC??! COME ON!! Who even listens to that?! At least organise some death metal shows, so that the muzzies can get their shit kicked in in a mosh pit! If this isn’t evidence that Western governments have NO IDEA what they’re doing, I don’t know what is!

Complete garbage, if there is one group who can’t stand European art it’s the Muslims. It has an audience in India (to some extent), Japan, China, most places, but not in Islamic cultures. Then there’s the ban on music other than death-chants. Trying to reach them with music is like trying to reach them with alcohol! In fact, play classical music in a public place and you will drive-off most Musselmen!
eduardo odraude says
Music has charms to soothe the savage beast. But the Muslim who knows Muhammad’s life according to the earliest Muslim biography and the canonical hadith, but who admires and follows Muhammad anyway, is not just a wild beast. Such a Muslim, like the Nazi or the Stalinist, is worse than an animal. Beasts have no freedom and therefore cannot be moral or immoral. A human being has some self-consciousness and at least a smidgen of freedom.
Arthur says
Many “elite” Europeans would seem to thrive on bureaucracy in my experience. They create complex systems, pour money into them, and then, inside the system, redirect the money into whatever they really wanted to do with it. Preventing “violent extremism” is just the current thing the leaders know they can use to get money out of the European populace. Last year, maybe the concerts would’ve been presented as a way to prevent global warming. If European leaders want to fund free classical music concerts in the park, they’re going to find a way to do it. Sad thing is, I think many Europeans also want free concerts in the park, so they’re happy to go along with the charade. It soothes any nagging concerns about whether the money is well spent when they can rationalize that it is helping with the real problems they should be facing.
eduardo odraude says
You are probably on to something. Musicians want some state funding. They see the huge monies being poured now into anti-terror security in Europe, and they think, “I want a piece of that action! Let’s see… musicians defeat terror! Yeah, that’s the ticket!”

P.S. Personally, I’m for sponsoring a series of hundreds of classical female nudes to be placed all over Molenbeek, and the whole of Europe. Along with the new decree, that any desecration of any kind, even by a citizen will lead to deportation into the middle of the worst part of the Sahara.

This is like Nero fiddling while Rome burns!
I’m a lover of classical music, but most people aren’t; so what effect will this really have? Very little, I’d guess! One of my favourites is Dvorak’s New World Symphony, but I don’t think the Muslim ‘refugees’ streaming into Europe would understand Dvorak’s message. Perhaps they could play Chopin’s Funeral March to farewell the Europe that was? Or for the jihadists, Wagner’s Ride of the Valkyries – that was one of Hitler’s favourites.
I’ve known some Muslims who played musical instruments. However, to most devout Muslims, music is haram unless it is a ‘nasheed’ – a monotonous chant praising Allah, Muhammad, or jihad against infidels. Even Michael Jackson got into the act after he converted.

“Allah Mighty and Majestic sent me as a guidance and mercy to believers and commanded me to do away with musical instruments, flutes, strings, crucifixes, and the affair of the pre-Islamic period of ignorance.” (Reliance of the Traveller r40.1(1)).
How would Muslims react to a symphony orchestra? Men and women all seated together and performing in unison, would be haram to the Muslim psyche. All those who love music (of any genre) should take this matter seriously, because if nothing positive is done to stop Islam in its tracks, it is inevitable that music – and many other art forms – will be lost to the world, perhaps forever.
This will be another exercise in futility by the elitist leftist politicians of the EU, who understand nothing about Islam. Don’t they know that the Islamic imperative is to subjugate the infidels, and rule the world by imposing Sharia law? If they believe that music will ‘abrogate’ all the years of indoctrination in madrassas, and the rhetoric of militant imams at Friday prayers, they are having pipedreams.
Our real enemy is ISLAM – pure and simple! We must attack that insidious ideology in every way possible. But please, let’s get real, and ditch this ‘comedy of errors’.
