Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

France admits its “deradicalization” program for jihadis has been a failure

Oct 30, 2016 8:44 am By Robert Spencer

“Deradicalization” doesn’t work: many such programs are based on the premise that the true teachings of Islam are peaceful, and so all that needs to be done is show the jihadis how they’re misunderstanding the Qur’an and overlooking its teachings of peace, and all will be well. But since the Qur’an and Sunnah are full of commands to make war against and subjugate unbelievers, the idea that jihadis can be “deradicalized” by reference to them is just a myth told to Infidel authorities to lull them into complacency.

“France’s De-radicalization Program Deemed a Failure,” by Patrick Dunleavy, IPT News, October 28, 2016 (thanks to The Religion of Peace):

The latest attempt by Western democracies to deal with the ever-growing threat of Islamic radicalization in the prison system has been deemed an utter failure. French officials announced Tuesday that they would no longer isolate inmates with jihadists tendencies from other inmates, or offer therapeutic services or specialized counseling aimed at de-radicalizing Islamic terrorists already in prison.

They found that the program actually increased the threat of radicalizing inmates into terrorists rather than diminishing it.

Following a series of terrorist attacks in France, counterterrorism investigators found that a large number of the jihadists had previously spent time in prison for petty crimes. It was there, in the fertile soil of prison, where they were influenced by the radical Islamic teachings of incarcerated members of groups like al-Qaida, the GIA (Armed Islamic Group of Algeria) and ISIS.

In announcing the suspension of the program Justice Minister Jean Jacques Urvoas admitted the failure: “I don’t use the term de-radicalization. I don’t think we can invent a vaccine against this temptation” (Islamism).

France has produced more soldiers for ISIS than any other Western country.

But France is not the only country that has attempted to come up with an program to prevent Islamic radicalization in prison and help rehabilitate those terrorists who have been successfully prosecuted and sent to prison. The United Kingdom previously announced plans to form “specialized isolation units” within its prison system to deal with convicted Islamic terrorists, like Anjem Choudary, who were seen as a danger to the other inmates.

The United States also sought to establish a de-radicalization program for potential jihadists. Minnesota U.S. District Court Judge Michael Davis devised a de-radicalization program that included hiring researcher Daniel Koehler, who has dealt with the neo-Nazi movement in Germany, to provide counseling and training for both inmates and staff.

The first inmate placed in the program, Abdullahi Yusuf, was an example of the program’s potential for failure.

Yusuf was arrested in 2014 when he attempted to board a flight to Turkey to join ISIS and fight in Syria. While awaiting trial, he was admitted to the program for de-radicalization counseling and was allowed to stay in a halfway house instead of in jail. Less than four months later he was removed from the program after he was found with a box cutter.

Further resistance to the U.S. de-radicalization program came from the defense attorney appointed to represent Adan Abdihamid Farah. Farah was arrested last year as he tried to travel to Syria and fight alongside other Islamic State jihadists. “If the de-radicalization is for him (Farah) to moderate his religious beliefs, I can’t do that,” defense attorney Kenneth Udoibok told the Wall Street Journal.

Some saw the program as a direct violation of the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA).

And now, faced with the possibility that as many as 100 inmates convicted of terrorism crimes in the United States will be paroled in the next five years, authorities have had to admit that there is no effective re-radicalization program in place to deal with the very really potential for recidivism. The Justice Department acknowledged we are not prepared to release them.

“There are [rehabilitation] programs for drug addicts and gang members [in prison]. There is not one [program] with a proven track record of success for terrorism,” Assistant Attorney General for National Security John Carlin said earlier this year.

The situation appears hopeless without changes in our approach to radical Islamism. To effectively deal with the threat of terrorists coming out of prison and committing more heinous acts, or others being radicalized by their influences while they are incarcerated, officials must commit to long range counter terrorism initiatives that do not end when the terrorist is captured.

These inmates’ access to Islamic extremist literature should be limited. Their visitors and the volunteers at correctional facilities need to be monitored, and a standardized vetting process for chaplains needs to be instituted.

The Justice Department Inspector General’s office strongly recommended these reforms12 years ago, but they have not been implemented….

The demon possessed moslum can only be healed by Jesus or the like. But first, a deep faith in the true GOD (not the demon allah) is required.
For two thousand years, to CIVILIZE a man has ment to Christianize him. And this is impossible without the direct involvement of the Holy Spirit!
The evil being perpetrated around the world now, by the people of Satan was foretold long, long ago. As Satan’s end nears, so does his wrath grow hot towards all that shun his rebellion! And he (Satan) is using his own people (the muslim’s) in a last attempt to spread havok around the world.
God has promised protection to the true believers. But there is much trouble ahead. Mostly aided and abetted by the CROOKS and TRAITORS in high positions of our governments around the world.
Unless you open your eyes and see the “Spiritual Element” in world events. It will continue to make no sense at all.

Disagree. Jihadists are INTELLECTUALLY CONVINCED about the truth of Islam. That is where to concentrate in DEPROGRAMMING THEM RIGHT OUT OF ISLAM. The mind is what chiefly destroys Islam. Cognitive dissonance destroys Islam. Facts destroy Islam. I don’t underestimate the Almighty. However, many Muslims have declared they find the gap between faith and facts too hard to bear and that’s when they leave Islam. Islam is in error factually, historically, ethically, scientifically, and stylistically. None of these errors support a divine origin of the Death Cult. Jihadists must be shown all these difficulties. Most of the 1 Mil mullahs, I believe, have discovered on their own that Islam is false, but they stay in it for a job.

I have had many “debates” with Muslims about the so-called “science” in the Quran. What I found is that very, very few are even able to grasp facts. Instead they completely ignore them and resort to ad hominem responses or try to redirect the subject to something else. Once in a while I feel that the believer feels cornered into facing reality and that’s when they stop the back and forth facts vs. belief discussion. But I have NEVER had one say, yeah I see your point.

I am not a psychologist but faith seems to be something that becomes hardwired into people’s brains. Even Muslims who don’t follow the tenets of their religion turn around and become superficially devout when they get the feeling that Islam and Muslims are under attack.

However I do believe, that over time as Muslims become more and more educated, they will start to change, just as the members of every other religion have. But I am not at all hopeful that facts will make any difference in the near future.

But I agree with you on how the change is eventually going to happen. When they KNOW, for instance, that shooting stars are not missiles Allah fires at Jinn then a door has been opened.

And no–I don’t think that most Muslims are intellectually convinced about the truth of Islam.

Islam itself–and most of its followers–*despise* reason and the mind, and consider then irrelevant. That’s one of the main reason they are so apt to become violent if rationally challenged.

It will get worse, all over Europe. I Just read the following:

During a football game in Saxony the referee showed a yellow card to a Syrian and told him not to repeat the offence, otherwise it will be a red card. (I forgot what the offence was).

Somebody pointed out to the ref that the guy doesn’t understand German. The ref said: “So what! This is Germany, we do speak German and if he wants to participate he has to learn German. I haven’t gone to Syria, he has come to us.”

Result: Because of such racism the ref is banned for the rest of the season and will be fined, as much as €500.00 (approx $500.00), if not more. So as to make an example and to prevent future racists attacks.

No kidding, the story is genuine and appeared iether in PI or Junge Freiheit.

Believe me, it’s going to get worse…

I think many of us have already written off Europe. Those of us not in Europe need to learn from the mistakes of European leaders. At some point I am hoping we can rescue Europe from the advancing Islamic army.

Doing so, however, would require resources on the scale of those used to defeat Nazi Germany in WWII. This means not only other western nations like Australia and Canada (both of whom are already nearing the tipping point) but joining forces with Russia. Russia is a very capable country. Without them we would all be speaking German right now (well, you would, I wouldn’t be here).

This to me is yet another reason why it is so critical that Trump be our next president. Imam Obama and his follower Hillary are both constantly taunting Russia. We need them as an ally not an enemy. But this is probably Baraq Hussein’s ultimate plan: A divided west will be less difficult for Islamic conquest.

Human civilization (the antithesis of Islam) has many trials ahead of it. Electing solid leaders is the very first step of passing those trials. Identifying the enemy is another — and this means disabling the propaganda machine that continues to “peacewash” Islam.

Our future and our children’s future depends on the decisions we make now. Not 2 months from now. Not a year from now. Now. Nov 8th now.

    “France’s De-radicalization Program Deemed a Failure,”

Gee, who could have imagine that would happen? I mean, other than people who understand what drives jihadis to wage jihad…

OK, that’s a sweeping statement. “The program”, as in “the program as a whole”? Because I find it hard to believe that keeping jihadis away from the general prison population increases the number of jihadis. It won’t do anything to dissuade them from waging jihad but it will prevent them from recruiting amongst the general population.

Which wouldn’t have happened if the incarcerated jihadis were kept away from the general prison population.

France has produced more soldiers for ISIS than any other Western country.

The overwhelming majority of ISIS members from Western Europe came from only 4 countries: France, the UK, Germany and Belgium.

It’ll be just as successful as its French counterpart.

The United States also sought to establish a de-radicalization program for potential jihadists.

    See above.

I doubt that’s the case, since it implies that the American official policy is one that islam is not a religion of peace.

Some saw the program as a direct violation of the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA).

Does the FRFA allows someone to kill in the name of their religion?

And now, faced with the possibility that as many as 100 inmates convicted of terrorism crimes in the United States will be paroled in the next five years

    Here’s an idea: don’t. Don’t parole them.

authorities have had to admit that there is no effective re-radicalization program in place to deal with the very really potential for recidivism. The Justice Department acknowledged we are not prepared to release them.

    Again: don’t parole them.

“There are [rehabilitation] programs for drug addicts and gang members [in prison]. There is not one [program] with a proven track record of success for terrorism,” Assistant Attorney General for National Security John Carlin said earlier this year.

Drugs are physiological, their symptoms and withdrawal can be treated. Gangs can lose their allure when their members realize that if they carry on they won’t live a long or happy life and desire to change their lifestyle. None of that will work with someone who believes that killing people and/or dying while trying will assure them a free pass into an heavenly brother. Drug addicts and gang members usually don’t think of what they are doing as being the work ordained to them by their god. Jihadis see themselves as being literally on a mission from allah. Telling them that their religion is ok just as long as they don’t go out and kill non-muslims will do jack s*** to change their minds because the driving force is their religion, whose basis are not challenged. Gaddafi, Assad, Saddam and the Saudis knew that very well, hence why their policies to deal with jihadis was to go after the ones who challenged their power and support those who either aligned themselves with them or waged jihad outside their borders.

Do you know which muslims aren’t out there waging jihad for the sake of allah? Muslims who genuinely convert out of islam. But I guess that a program meant to explain why islam is doctrinally false, David Wood and Jay Smith style, would be seen as “infringing on their religious rights”…

These inmates’ access to Islamic extremist literature should be limited.

Meaningless when dealing with an hafiz, someone who memorized the entire quran.

Their visitors and the volunteers at correctional facilities need to be monitored, and a standardized vetting process for chaplains needs to be instituted.

    Good luck with that…

Britain has millions of Muslims and some towns have now a majority of muslims. The London Metropolitan Police has a Muslim adviser who is known to be a Jihadist extremist but who pretends to be a moderate but when he thinks he is not observed is a hate preacher. They have been told this by reliable moderate organizations but so far refuse to sack him.Looking both ways is a favorite tactic of these people as Hilary Clinton knows from Pakistan.
The cringing relationship of Britain and the USA to Saudi Arabia in supplying them with arms has led to the massacre of many in the Yemen and the funding of terrorism and the “wooden horse” mosques in Europe and elsewhere.Who allows this ? The ruling classes in the west who don’t care for the culture of ordinary people, just enriching themselves like the feudal lords of Saudi Arabia.
They fear referendums because only then will the true will of the people be heard.

Attempting deradicalization without banning the Koran is impossible because the Koran constantly reinforces core Islamic beliefs. All the “radical” instructions are contained within it’s pages and the is no alternate “peaceful version”. It is the foundation and cornerstone of Islam. And this garbage has been memorized word for word by many of the retarded devotees. Only a complete rejection of Islam will work, but this is severely hampered by the low intellect of the inbred and the standing death threat for apostasy.

Prisons are filled with a disproportionate number of Muslims, many arrested at a young age for theft, groping or rioting. Prisons become the Universities where the resentful are further encouraged to pursue Jihad and where non-Muslim criminals are introduced to a religion that turns their criminal proclivities into their duties to Allah. With the added inducement of ultimate sexual fantasies they are unlikely to find without it.

Islam’s demonic origins is reflected in it’s diabolical design and tactics. Somehow we must match the intensity and devotion they demonstrate toward Satan to our fight against it.

Unfortunately demographics are everything and Europe will be overwhelmed by those who have 4 wives and 24 children (at our expense, BTW). The irony is that, as Mark Steyn says, “these are the people we brought in to replace the children we couldn’t be bothered having”.

It does appear that Britain and most of Europe are finished. Will the US pay enough attention to their fall to preserve our own nation? So far, it doesn’t look hopeful.

The answer is to use shock therapy – literally – applying a voltage discharge via electrodes placed on the forehead as they used to do in psychiatric hospitals back in the 50’s and 60’s. I don’t know if it is still used today, or its more modern replacement done with insulin shock, but it was very effective for things like untreatable depression.

The thing is that for some period after a shock, the patient feels very calm and suffers short term amnesia. The endless brain chatter repeating the same story over and over comes to a stop, and allows the patient to form a new story. So I suggest that immediately following the shock, a person should be given David Wood videos to watch. The sessions should be repeated over and over again, interspersed with the patient working in the garden and taking woodworking or basket weaving courses, something to bring him in touch with the concrete everyday life.

If all the inmates in Guantanamo Bay were given this treated I expect the rate of recidivism would be zero, if enough shocks are administered, and I am suggesting they continue to be administered two or three times a week for a couple of years or more as necessary.

Lobotomies have been known to be effective, however, though David Wood videos are not nearly so enjoyable afterward.

The only way to exorcize Islam is for the Muslim to gain a conscience (and experience the “shock therapy” of facing the horrible truth of Muhammad and his death cult), not by us emulating Pavlov.
The firing squad has also been known to work at deradicalizing jihadis.

and what basis in Islam would there be to pronounce a religious edict against a pious Muslim carrying out his obligation to fight for Allah’s cause? to “defend” Islam? to kill or subjugate the infidels causing fitnah and making war against god? to remove the obstacles to the rule of Islam over earth? and how can an imam declare AllahMuhammad’s promises and rewards to be false? not going to happen.

You were likely writing to the biggest “terrorist” out there when you wrote to an imam, they are the ones who give holy sanction to murder. As for being radicalized in mosques, what do you think “radicalizing” consists of when it only takes a close reading of the Qur’an and Tafseer and the hadith and sira to radicalize anyone as to the correct understanding of Islam?

What kind of “Muslim” claims to be against shariah or against Muhammad? That’s your reformed Muslim, neither fish nor fowl, or an outright liar. If you don’t want to be a slave of Allah junk the whole contaminated enterprise. Absolutely the mosques and imams must be monitored, and then removed at the slightest whiff of True Islam (i.e. Sedition).

I usually add that it’s important to reform Islam, cutting all incitements to violence in their “sacred” books.
All this is not easy, I admit, but if authorities insisted it could happen. The best thing would be to expel any imam who does not agree. But … but …

“… These inmates’ access to Islamic extremist literature should be limited…”

And of course this ‘extremist literature’ should include the Quoran; a text that unequivocally and repeatedly calls for violent jihad against ‘unbeleivers’, in other words violence against ‘outsiders’ including the citizens of secular states and supporters of modern civilisation.

The only ‘deradicalisation’ that works is *de-islamisation* – APOSTASY.

The work of people like Fr Zakaria Botros and many others is of critical importance.

All the money that the French and others are wasting on paying imams and other smiling Islamic flim-flam merchants to do ‘deradicalisation’ would be better spent on getting Fr Botros’ trenchant and funny programs dubbed into a whole bunch of relevant languages and broadcast 24/7 – not only into Islamic countries, but *also* over the airwaves in places like France, Germany, the UK, Australia…

And they could talk to apostates like Ali Sina, Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Ibn Warraq, Bosch Fawstin, Daniel Shayesteh, Wafa Sultan, Magdi Allam, Mona Walters, Hannah Shah, in order to ask: *how* best can apostates within the West be protected, kept safe from the sharia assassins, and… *what* works best to get people to leave Islam? “What did it for *you*??”
