Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Hugh Fitzgerald: May God Save “God Save The Queen”

Oct 15, 2016 3:39 am By Hugh Fitzgerald

Queen Elizabeth

A Muslim student at King’s College London, and an officer of its Student Union (3 of its 5 top officers are Muslims), one Mahamed Abdullahi, has called for “God Save the Queen,” Great Britain’s national anthem, to be omitted from the school’s graduation ceremonies. He claims the song is “outdated” and “not reflective of the global values the college espouses.” Abdullahi – who is, by the way, a Danish citizen, though not exactly a Dane – insists that this anthem is dangerous “in the context” of the “increasing far-right nationalism across Europe and the legacy of the British Empire.” His obscenity-filled rant can be read here.

What makes “God Save the Queen” outdated? Has the monarchy fallen out of favor with the people of Great Britain? Or is their interest and enthusiasm for the Queen and the idea of the monarchy perfectly understandable, for the Royals are a human symbol of stability and national identity, in a world more dizzyingly in flux than ever before? Look at the British popular press, which appears to devote half its space to Kate Middleton’s children, and another quarter to the Queen. Clearly the British people have no wish to jettison their monarchy. If there were no royal family on which to focus, popular attention might instead be given, as in the United States, to empty celebrities, such as the Kardashians, or to the mix-n’-match couplings and uncouplings of assorted jolies and pitts.

“God Save The Queen” is mild in its winsome expression of national fervor (compare, for example, the martial theme of La Marseillaise); the first two verses go like this:

God save our gracious Queen!
Long live our noble Queen!
God save the Queen!
Send her victorious,
Happy and glorious,
Long to reign over us,
God save the Queen.

O Lord our God arise,
Scatter her enemies
And make them fall;
Confound their politics,
Frustrate their knavish tricks,
On Thee our hopes we fix,
God save us all!

There is nothing conceivably “far right” about these sentiments. I doubt if Mahamed Abdulllahi comprehends the useful role of the constitutional monarch in Great Britain as a focus of national identity, unity, and pride, providing the British with a sense of continuity and stability. What enrages him is the very idea that the British people in this deuteroelizabethan age should permit themselves to have feelings of national pride, and what’s more, to express them. For Abdullahi, that is enough to constitute “far-right nationalism.” When your child pledges allegiance “to the flag and to the republic for which it stands” and wishes “liberty and justice for all,” is he being “far-right”? At a baseball game, do you feel part of a “far-right” crowd because you listen to, or even join in singing, “The Star-Spangled Banner”? Of course not.

Is there any expression of pride in a national identity that Mahamed Abdullahi would find acceptable? I don’t think so. I think that the only kind of “identity” he approves of is that of the supranational umma, or Community of Muslim Believers, and that he obscurely senses that a shared sense of affection and pride in one’s own nation (as expressed in England in many ways, including singing “God Save the Queen) is also, nowadays, a part of the West’s psychological defense against the encroachments of aggressive Islam. For Mahamed Abdullahi, that’s enough to make it “far-right” nationalism.

What about the charge that “God Save the Queen” carries with it the “legacy of the British Empire”? (The anthem itself was first published in 1745, before there was much of a British Empire to celebrate.) Perhaps Abdullahi objects to the fact that many former colonies, once part of that Empire, are now enthusiastic members of the British Commonwealth, keeping up ties to Great Britain, and delighting in receiving visits from Queen Elizabeth II and younger members of the Royal Family. It is not just Canada and Australia and New Zealand that are thrilled, but India, Singapore, Uganda, Nigeria, Jamaica, indeed every country in the Commonwealth (save for Rwanda and Cameroon, but only because they are the latest to join, and the Queen hasn’t yet fit them into her schedule), eager to bask in the reflected glory of a royal visit.

Apparently very few of those actually in the Commonwealth share Mahamed Abdullahi’s sour vision of the “legacy of the British Empire.” Mahamed Abdullahi may have forgotten that even Yassir Arafat once hoped that his future state of “Palestine” would be allowed to join the Commonwealth.

But since he contemptuously dismisses the “legacy of the British Empire” without discussing it, perhaps we should ask: just what was that legacy? First, the English language, which has been perhaps the greatest gift to colonized peoples anywhere, the language that has served as a lingua franca for many different peoples in Africa and in the subcontinent; and the spread of English has allowed them entrée into the worlds of science, technology, business, sport, entertainment, and that same English brings with it, of course, an unrivalled literary heritage. Among the former British colonies in Africa, the spread of English now permits Nigerians to talk to Tanzanians and Kenyans to talk to Ghanaians. And in India, with a multitude of tongues — Hindi, Bengali, Telugu, Marathi, Tamil, Urdu, Gujarati, and Punjabi being the most widely used – the educated in every state can communicate with each other, and with those similarly educated throughout India, in English. It is the English language that, paradoxically, unifies India.

Second, the British introduced the rule of law, specifically the Common Law, including what had been built up through centuries of cases as contract and property law, and rules of civil and criminal procedure. Third, public works – roads, bridges, canals, railroads – that the British built in so many of their colonies, and that promoted economic development.

Fourth – modern medicine, including vaccinations for many previously untreatable diseases. Fifth – free trade within the Empire, stimulating economic growth. Sixth—universal schooling, from elementary grades all the way up, in many of the colonies, to universities. And seventh, the abolition first of the slave trade, and then of slavery. The slave trade that the British abolished first was that vast and cruel enterprise conducted by Muslim Arabs in East and Central Africa and involving 17 million black Africans, many of them young boys castrated where they were captured and, if they survived the operation (only 20% did), were then brought to the slave markets of Islam, to be sold as eunuchs. It was the Royal Navy that finally stamped out that slave trade, preventing the Arab slavers from landing with their cargo on the Arabian peninsula.

Mahamed Abdullahi has nothing good to say about “legacy of the British Empire,” but we have a right and a duty to remind him of that positive legacy (language, law, public works, medicine, free trade, education), and particularly to remind him that it was the British who ended the brutal slave trade conducted by Muslim Arabs.

Finally, Mahamed Abdullahi claims that the British national anthem is “not reflective” of the “’global values’ the college espouses.” What are those “global values”? Would they include such values as equal treatment of all, including minorities and women, before the law? Would they include the free exercise of any religion or the right to believe in none? Would those “global values” include the right to change one’s religion? Would they include the right of both sexes to equal education?

Would they include the right to criticize religions, even if that offends some believers? Would they include the right of children not to be treated as their parents’ chattel? These are not so much “global” values, in fact, as values originating in the countries of the advanced West, and especially Great Britain and its political offspring, the United States. The university’s administrators, who had initially (and shamefully) shown themselves willing to discuss Abdullahi’s nauseating proposal, have fortunately been forced by public outrage to backtrack. Perhaps they need to be reminded – Mahamed Abdullahi can bring them up to snuff — on the Muslim version of “global values” espoused by such models of religious freedom and legal equality as Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Iran, Libya, Syria, Iraq, the Sudan, and many dozens of other Muslim countries. And then he might also explain what the “legacy” of the Muslim Empire has been for so many different lands and peoples. That should prove most instructive.

And meanwhile, may God save “God Save The Queen.”

This character is just the latest in a procession of jumped-up, disrespectful, bigotted invaders who think they have the right to shoot their mouths off and run the place. The previous one was a non-caucasian and clearly racist South African Rhodes Scholar at Oxford who seemed to think he had the right to bad-mouth Oxford and be generally insulting, calling it ‘racist’ because it maintained British standards, attitudes and traditions (in the UK!!!). He got himself quite a reputation by getting up on his high horse and leading a pressure group to have the statue of Cecil Rhodes removed from outside his College in Oxford because HE (and his chums) found it offensive, despite that fact that Rhodes had given a heck of lot of money to the College, including the funding of the Scholarship that this ungrateful specimen was enjoying. (Cecil Rhodes apparently didn’t entirely behave like a shining angel when building things up in Africa, as we all know – but then who in their right minds should expect that of anyone in any situation, and look at what’s happened around the world and in Africa since!!). This obnoxious character justified his racist ranting by saying that Rhodes’ money was rightfully HIS anyway because of the way in which a lot of it had been obtained – even though our ‘friend’ (and his chums, and their ancestors) weren’t around at the time (and the place) and could never ever have even begun to achieve a fraction of what Rhodes and his asoociates achieved. This delightful person apparently also reinforced his appalling racist credentials by behaving despicably towards a white waitress in a restaurant in Cape Town after he had thankfully returned home. The damage he did to the Oxford college that tolerated him was quite considerable, when benefactors withdrew their funding and promises of legacies as a result of the college authorities’ spineless inability to confront this character’s outrageous demands.

I mention all this because our friend Abdullahi here is just part of a disgusting pattern that is emerging in the UK. Arrogant, ignorant and grossly bigotted, they demonstrate no regard for anyone or anything apart from themselves and wallow in the obscene delusion that nothing and nobody else matters; and the UK, if not the world, exists purely as an amenity for THEM and their own personal and ideological advancement. If their presence in the UK could be shown to have some value-added advantage to the people of the UK by virtue of benefits that their culture and background brings that are not already evident in UK culture and history, then we could justify listening to them and allowing them to have influence. Sadly, that is most decidely NOT the case. People like Abdullahi would no doubt at least have the honesty to admit that they are in the UK for what they can get (which is why he is here studying at King’s) and would not claim any ability or desire to add to it in real terms or work to benefit ordinary UK citizens. To put it bluntly, their role in UK society – if indeed they claim any role in UK society as I would understand the term – would be far, far closer to that of ‘parasite’ than ‘benefactor’. So the prospect of the likes of Abdullahi assuming any right to dictate what is acceptable in UK national or institutional life is so grossly out of order as to be utterly beyond the pail. If he doesn’t like what happens here, then HE is wrong, not the UK, and he should have the decency to go somewhere that better suits his ego. If he can understand that, that is. Is that likely?

Dialogue from the movie, Independence Day: “They’re like locusts. They travel from planet to planet, their whole civilization. After they’ve consumed every natural resource they move on. And we’re next”

This captures the attitude but not the reality of Islam. Fortunately, Islam has risen in accordance with the Peter Principle and is now restrained by its own incompetency in addition to its inability to bring unity to its adherents.

Realizing this limitation in their own societies provides the impetus for Muslims to move to successful societies such as the UK. This is the real drving force behind the economic immigrants still streaming into Europe.

The migrations are a tacit recognition of Islam’s failure. Europe’s giving up any traditions to satisfy the demands of the more aggressive Muslims simply creates a slide backwards for those Mudlims who wish to escape Islam and progress. Worse yet, it prepares the way for descendency of the host nation into another morass of incompetency and a loss of identity.

Perhaps Abdullahi has a different definition of democracy in his English to Arabic dictionary book. Perhaps almost all Britis citizens are far right, rendering the qualifications “far” and “right” completely useless. Last but not least: if it is helpful to a society to ban certain outdated ceremonies from public life because those customs are oppressive in nature, he might help us to move to SaoudiArabia and to advocate the ban of islamic prejudices and practices from public life there. I would certainly encourage that but I fear that his life would be in danger from day one.

But since he contemptuously dismisses the “legacy of the British Empire” without discussing it, perhaps we should ask: just what was that legacy?

This is the key. An bold assertive argument of denunciation of historical past goes unchallenged. It’s left to individuals no the other side of the argument to debate the point, the media or academe won’t do that anymore, so even when someone does step up to publicly reject the bold assertion, which is rare nowadays, it’s unheard. This is the power that impels the wrong side of so many important arguments today.

It was Wall St greed that caused the 2008 great recession. Nobody, not even on the two Fox RINO channels, and even not Donald Trump, bothers to point out the obvious fact that it was Bill Clinton’s revival of the illegal CRA where the federal gubmint forced banks to mortgage loans they knew were bad… or face enormous fines and disastrous publicity. That caused the bubble, and the Great Recession that followed, but not a peep on that part.

Or man-caused global warming. After about 15 yrs of global cooling, the Al Gore crowd (and academes) repackaged the con job as climate change. And for the many billions spent on “scientific” research into the subject, not one single scientific finding on why COs — four tenths of 1 percent of greenhouse gases — is causing the global warming (aka climate changing) that isn’t happening but could.

Propaganda is opinon programming. And that must have a bad of fictive reality on which to grow its poisonous flowers. It’s no longer what is true, it is what is hip.

Having said that,it would be fair to state that the money bubble was started earlier, and was started under the reign of Bush senior. The godzilla sized budget deficit of the US originated for a large part on the costs of the wars on terror and the ever increasing costs of weaponry. I’m not getting into the Climate change issues – there is evidence that CO2 is on the rise and does have some impact on global temperature, but it is hard and costly to change our oil dependency – but IMPORTING oil weakens the US economy and lowers the incomes of its citizens. I would rather be rich and safe than to suffer and be threatened by heavily armed arabic states – armed by the US weapons industry in exchange for US money paid for oil.

What a terrible name, and one used in public no less. If my parents had named me Beelzebub, it woulda been my secret name, and is would be using Alarmed as my first name and Pig as my middle name. That is what I hate about Muslims. As soon as they have an opportunity they try to impose their agenda. There is no respect for any western culture and traditions and still the host countries bend to their demands. WHY? They only bring barbaric behavior, with their Sharia, Jihad, to impose their miserable “religion”, and their Supremasist ideas to the Western World.
Isn’t it time to send them back? There are over 50 Islamic countries, they belong there.

How come islam and muslim men were allowed to come to Europe claiming protection under UN declaration of Human Rights suffering war and poverty?
Still obeying the same views as in the countries they left, even demanding everyone else to respect and follow the same views and sharia law.
    Have we all gone mad?

If you invite termites to live in your house, don’t expect it to stand for much too long.
They will effectively reduce any well designed and organized dwelling into the rubble heap not unlike the one from where you imported them.

    Oct 15, 2016 at 9:18 am

Surely Mahamed Abdulllahi could be presented with his graduation award at a private ceremony at the airport. That way he doesn’t have to hear God Save the Queen and immediately upon receipt of the award he can get on a plane and return to Denmark, or any other country foolish enough to accept him. Everybody is happy.

This is just another means for Islam to destroy a nations individual core, Islam does not assimilate in any nation, speak up and do not give an inch to Islam.

There is a verse to the national anthem which is exceptionally racist. and was added to the anthem at the time of the Jacobite Rebellion.

    Lord, grant that Marshal Wade
    May by thy mighty aid
    Victory bring.
May he sedition hush and like a torrent rush,
    Rebellious Scots to crush.
    God save the King.
Had the Scots listened with care to the prophecy of Sandy Peden, the Prophet of the Covenant, they would have known their plan to bring a Stuart back to the throne would never take place. He prophesied that no Stuart king would ever sit on the throne of Great Britain. His prophesy was validated.
However the sentiment of that verse above remains to the present day – without involving God.

Oh, good grief. This verse was never an official part of the song, and was not used by anyone after 1745. It was never part of the National Anthem. There have been assorted alternate verses addressing issues of the times that are not part of the official National Anthem at all.

The idea that this supremacist Muslim–who almost certainly has never heard this variation–certainly, it is not played at graduations at King’s College–is somehow defending the Scots is just ludicrous.

First point. You are putting words in my mouth. Your second paragraph is a product of your own imagination and has nothing to do with me. Anyone who is aware of this sort of name calling will see what you are trying to do.
Second point. Your history needs refreshing. General Wade’s Wikipedia page will give you sufficient information which hopefully you will use to consider the further evidence for the verse which if remember correctly was included in the revised edition of the Church of Scotland Church Hymnary as verse 6. We sang it at school when I was a child. That is how I remember it. Some teachers told us to omit singing verse 6.
Yes, shortly after the end of WW2 we Scots still doffed our hats to the English, including singing about our country being destroyed by Englishman General Wade. Perhaps our parents were afraid that, as in 1919 when tanks were deployed to George Square Glasgow – we might again suffer under the hands of a country which only ever exploited us.
        For more information see below:
        http://ourscotland.myfreeforum.org/archive/an-offensive-anthem__o_t__t_5681.html
Meanwhile remember paragraph 2 is from your imagination and has nothing to do with me.

I meant to write that General Wade was Irish who went to England for a military career.

    Somali anthem:
Every nation has its own flag.
Every nation has its own flag.
Ours is like the sky without any signs of clouds
All of which we have come to love.
Oh you White Star, at your service we are
Oh you White Star, at your service we are
Superior you are, in any part of our land
Be famous oh Star, like the sun
On the day you arose, our hearts you have
On the day you arose, our hearts you have
    Purified with pureness
O Allah, do not dim the flag, pray we in this night
Maybe, replace it with that one?

Isn’t this similar to what is going on in America with people refusing to stand for the National Anthem?

    Anyone see a connection here?

And pray tell, why are the American people not speaking out against the Prima Donnas, the Professional and College players who are demonstrating on National TV on a regular basis and shaking their fist in our face?

Is it really that difficult to turn off the TV and not watch a sporting event? Really?

Why are we as a Nation, enabling these pampered, spoiled brats?

It seems that the only language they understand is $$$$$$$.

Take that away and maybe, very doubtful in today’s society, they will decide it’s not practical to bite the hand that feeds them.

Here’s another song for patriots to sing. It should be the anthem of the British resistance to Jihad.

“O God of earth and altar”. – by G K Chesterton, written in 1915 (in the same year, incidentally, that he wrote “The Flying Inn”, a novel set in an islamified England).

The second verse reads – “From all that terror teaches/ from lies of tongue and pen/ from all the easy speeches/ that comfort cruel men/ From sale and profanation/ of honour and the sword/ From sleep, and from damnation/ deliver us, good Lord!”

It is usually sung to the tune “King’s Lynn”.

The irony here is that the sentiment expressed by this interloper is imperialist and colonialist at heart–destroy the native culture and replace it with that of the newcomers. Just as the UNESCO Temple Mount nonsense is colonialist, imperialist, and supremacist, even though it is being championed by those who accuse the West of imperialism

We should take courage in the real hope and glory: Israel will stand forever! And Israel, more than anything that can be said, is a thorn in the flesh/Ummah of the Muslim world and she exposes the total impotence of Allah and his quack of a prophet.

Has this ignorant and arrogant young man got any clue as to what Her Majesty the Queen means to ordinary people all over the world ?

The Queen’s dignity, her restraint, her respect for ordinary people, her kindness and warmth, her superb attention to the duties required of her, her personal modesty, her intelligence, her lovely appearance, her endurance over 65 years, her faith and trust in God, her impartiality, her sense of humour, her optimism and strength of character…

May the Queen live forever !
