Sharia in Indonesia: Woman savagely beaten for standing too close to her boyfriend

Oct 18, 2016 11:42 am By Christine Douglass-Williams

The woman was seen crying in agony as she was lashed in front of a baying crowd for breaking Sharia law.

She was just one of 13 women who was punished in the orthodox Indonesian province of Aceh.

The young woman was brutalized under Islamic law in the province of Aceh in Indonesia – the world’s most populous Muslim nation — simply for standing too close to her boyfriend. Aceh has seen a marked rise in public beatings, and the head of Aceh’s sharia police, Rahma Daniati, stated confidently and proudly her justification for the barbaric practice:

“This was not done to humiliate someone…..it is to achieve the deterrent effect, so other teenagers will not follow.”

Back in August, a young couple was “savagely whipped” with a cane in front of a crowd for violating Sharia law by going on a date.

Most disturbing is that students in the province of Aceh staged a rally years ago, demanding the full implementation of Sharia, which has been increasing in Aceh; and that’s bad news for certain groups especially, according to the Jarkarta Post:

That’s bad news for women and lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people, who are discriminated against under the Sharia regulations imposed by the Aceh provincial government.

“Muslim woman lashed 23 times for breaking Sharia law by being ‘close’ to her boyfriend”, by Charlie Bayliss, UK Express, October 18, 2016:

The woman was seen crying in agony as she was lashed in front of a baying crowd for breaking Sharia law.

She was just one of 13 women who was punished in the orthodox Indonesian province of Aceh.

Each woman was lashed between nine and 25 times, depending on the severity of their crime.

The alleged crimes they were deemed guilty of included inappropriate acts, such as khalwat, which is affectionate contact by an unmarried couple, and ikhtilat, which is intimacy or mixing – both of which are in violation of Islamic bylaw.

One of the women, just 22-years-old, had her lashes delayed as she is currently pregnant.

Aceh’s deputy mayor, Zainal Arifin, said: “The punishment will be handed down after she gives birth.

“Caning sentences have been enforced many times in the city of Banda Aceh.

“This proves that the government and the people of Banda Aceh are committed to implementing and enforcing the Sharia.”

The deputy mayor added that he hoped the lashings would act as a deterrent for any future offenders.

Arifin said: “We hope there are no more people in Banda Aceh who break the law in future.”

Aceh introduced Islamic law after being granted autonomy in 2001.

Civilians face being flogged for anything including gambling, drinking alcohol or even being gay.

The region is close to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands of India and is the only province in Indonesian subject to Sharia law.

A growing number of Aceh residents are being lashed, with the number of women being beaten rising rapidly….

I recall coworkers doing a song and dance about helping the (Muslim) victims of the Tsunami in Aceh years ago. Because the poor victims happened to be (Muslim) it added an extra bit of unspoken but well-understood virtue signaling credits

this woman probably believes she has committed a crime. According to the koran she has committed and there is no forgiveness possible , alah,s law is clear. A Muslim does not understand mercy, you can not go against the law of God. This is what they want to bring to the West. This is the moral of Islam …. they say we are decadent …buffff

Aceh was given “special automomy” after decades of fighting with the central government over its insistence on self-government under Shariah. It immediately began passing sharia-compliant laws. It is not respresentative of the rest of Indonesia though its transformation to Shariah is the likely eventual outcome for the nation. Since Suharto there has been a struggle between Secularists and Islamizationists. There is, currently, far more freedom and more safety for other religions away from the Aceh region.

The economic backbone of the country rests on petroleum, natural gas, minerals, and palm oil. Like Saudi Arabia, the economy is shored up by foreign demand.

Why wasn’t the ‘boyfriend’ flogged for being to close to his girl-friend. I just don’t get it. Best to exterminate all imams and muslim clergy…… just for starters!.

      Hello Shmued,
      you asked ;

“Why wasn’t the ‘boyfriend’ flogged for being to close to his girl-friend.”

here’s my take from what i’ve pieced together so far about this “peaceful religion”
      in regard to this topic…
of course i’m open to correction with proof,
and of course corroborating evidence too !

because in islam it is the female’s duty to avoid such situations, the men don’t have to resist temptation, the women have to prevent it, and if rape happens it is usually seen as the woman’s fault, so they were just trying to save the man from having to rape her, because she tempted him, it’s really for her own good don’t you see ! ?
and if you try to reason with them on this or any other practice that we find barbaric,
you will that it is useless to Reason With those who have Renounced All Use Of Reason to begin with….

and, what other explanation can there be for the need for Niqab, Hijab and Burka ?
the very reason for their existence is what ?
–> so that the women who wear them are not seen as fair game for rape,
as in, they are pious muslim women and therefore “off bounds”,
      but,
      if not,
they are deserve to be raped, islam teaches it,
so, as we import more and more muslims we will be expected to, for “cultural inclusion”
make sure our women don’t “entice or tempt” the muslims who will see it as a duty to allah to rape them…
have you tried lately to tell a western woman what to wear ?

we have to “exterminate” their ideas with reason, logic and clarity,
islam really is a diabolical system, for it places martyrdom at the pinnacle,
it self perpetuates hate against any who try to point out how insane it is !

This abysmal controlling of citizen lives is fairly recent in Aceh.

“In April 2009, the Aceh Party(Islamic) won control of the local parliament in Aceh’s first post-war legislative elections. In September 2009, one month before the new legislators were to take office, the outgoing parliament unanimously endorsed two new qanuns to expand the existing criminal Sharia framework in Aceh.

One bill, the Qanun on Criminal Procedure (Qanun Hukum Jinayat), to create an entirely new procedural code for the enforcement of Sharia by police, prosecutors, and courts in Aceh.

The other bill, the Qanun on Criminal Law (Qanun Jinayat), reiterated the existing criminal Sharia prohibitions, at times enhancing their penalties, and a host of new criminal offenses, including ikhtilat (intimacy or mixing), zina (adultery, defined as willing intercourse by unmarried people), sexual harassment, rape, and homosexual conduct. The law authorized punishments including up to 60 lashes for “intimacy,” up to 100 lashes for engaging in homosexual conduct, up to 100 lashes for adultery by unmarried persons, and death by stoning for adultery by a married person. In practice the punishments are much reduced, with no punishment thus far exceeding 50 lashes.” WIKI – https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aceh

This is what happens when you give special autonomy to a region dominated by Islam. Of course it will spread through the rest of the country by stealing the rights of others through “democratic” mechanisms and then making laws to take those rights from anyone who has the audacity to control his own life. Aceh has illustrated the method and set the precedence.

This is creeping in even as we write. Teresa May has allowed Sharia courts to proliferate throughout Britain.
The Law Society decided to become Sharia compliant on wills and inheritance, thus denying equal rights, which is another of our laws about to be trampled on.
David Cameron gave permission for Sharia compliant banking, and now the MPs themselves are housed in a Sharia compliant building – which somewhat hilariously – means they cannot have alcohol in their offices.
      It is creeping in everyhwere.

At one time Indonesia was a Buddhist country. Muslims were allowed to set up trading post in Indonesia in the 1300’s. The rest is history.

Sharia in Indonesia: Woman savagely beaten for standing too close to her boyfriend
    …………………..

This poor woman. And this happened in “moderate” Indonesia.

Muslims want to bring this savagery *everywhere*.

    God, I hate Islam.

I think we all know that this lashing of women has a sexual connotation to it. The Muslim men enjoy seeing it and it arouses them likely to the point that they go home and rape their wives. Islam is mostly about sex anyway and Muslim mens’ right to subjugate and torture women simply because it gives them sexual pleasure.
