“The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) could not, however, confirm that the letters actually came from outside the community, or that they were not a prank.”
As I explained here, there is plenty of reason to doubt that these letters are genuine. They are much more likely to be part of Muslim groups’ in the U.S. never-ending quest for protected victim status.
“FBI, LAPD Cannot Confirm Anti-Muslim Letters as ‘Hate Crime,’” by Joel B. Pollak, Breitbart, November 28, 2016:
LOS ANGELES — Law enforcement officials gathered with local Muslim leaders at the Islamic Center of Southern California to respond to threatening letters that had been sent to several mosques in the state.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) could not, however, confirm that the letters actually came from outside the community, or that they were not a prank. And the Los Angeles Police Department said that the letters were being investigated as a “hate incident,” not a “hate crime,” because there was no specific, immediate threat.
Stephen Woolery, FBI Special Agent in Charge of the Counterterrorism Division in Los Angeles, said that at least five letters were received by Islamic institutions in California. Letters were received in San Jose, Northridge, Claremont, Signal Hill, and Los Angeles. He added that there was possibly one more letter that had been received outside the state, possibly in Georgia.
One letter, widely circulated in the media, read, in part: “You Muslims are a vile and filthy people … There’s a new sheriff in town — President Donald Trump. He’s going to cleanse America … He’s going to do to you Muslims what Hitler did to the Jews.”
The language of each of the letters was similar, officials said. They did not contain a specific threat of violence….
Local Muslim leaders at the press conference, which involved both local and international media, invited the author or authors of the letter to have a frank discussion about faith. “We want this to be out in the open, in broad daylight. Bullies feel emboldened in dark alleys.
Dr. Sayed Moustafa al-Qazwini, the president of the Shia Muslim Council of Southern California, said: “We stand against hate crime and against terrorism.” He advised members of the community to go about their normal activities.
Another Muslim leader responded to a suspected terror attack earlier in the day at Ohio State, where several people were injured in an attack, apparently carried out by a Muslim immigrant from Somalia, involving a car and knives.
“The problem comes when we politicize one incident over others … when the reality is, it’s just violence,” he said….
In other words, ignore the motivating ideology behind jihad terror attacks.
[Woolery] said that the FBI had wanted to participate in the press conference, despite the lack of an investigation, “to be visible, strong partners with our community. Our role is to monitor the situation … making sure there is no threat.”
“It was important for us to be here to demonstrate that partnership, because I think that’s important to the community.”

definitely a hoax. I was watching the local news yesterday and it was talking about the harsh letters that was sent to Muslim’s, soon as it started reading the contents I knew the letter was fake and then this Muslim gets on TV standing in front of a house with I guess his family talking about “people need to get educated about Islam” basically he wants people to accept his whitewashed version of Islam and get them to think that’s what islam is really all about so they’ll dissociate jihad terror from Islam. so pretty much these letters is a desperate attempt to gain sympathy and a platform to spread the islamophobia propaganda and be seen so it will bring in more people to fool and brainwash.

OT: We’ve heard here at Jihad Watch on occasion about the idiocy of Justin Trudeau. I’ve just read Mario Loyola writing at National Review that Justin Trudeau said this:
If there were any doubts that Trudeau is a moron, they have entirely evaporated.
mohamonator says
How Trudeau. Unlike a lot of dictators, (say Robert Mugabe or Bashar Assad) Castro didn’t even bother with the pretense of sham elections–you know, the kind where the incumbent wins by 97.3%. Obviously, very few Cubans emigrated to Canada, or Trudeau would not have been so fulsome in his praise of an international thug.
Raymond of Canada says
Justin’s father never seen a revolutionary he didn’t like. He was pouring praise on Castro and Mao tse Tung while their victims were being slaughtered and tortured. A thriving tourist industry grew up in Cuba catering to Canadians seeking warming weather. I visited Cuba and their poverty was quite apparent. On bus tours you could only use washroom when the bus came to a “rest stop”. Toilets were filled by hand and flushed by attendants (no cameras were allowed). The good thing though (probably) they were receiving wages equal to doctors!

Appeal to numbers is a logical fallacy. Anyway, all that shows is that many people are either morons or pro-fascism.

Thank you for proving my point 🙂
“I have no respect for the further trump.”
Do you have respect for the actual “further”, Hitler?

Fidel Castro was, from the very beginning of his dictatorship — which began on New Year’s Day, 1959 — a brutal killer. Along with Che Guevara, he installed his preference for indiscriminate firing squads. Tens of thousands were murdered, while a million fled the island, including his sister, Juanita Castro. A tyrant, who was feared by all, he oppressed his people, imprisoned those he did not kill, tortured people and terminated free elections.
He may well be respected by some around the world, but those leftists would be the ones who had not the “privilege” of living under his tyranny. Nor would those admirers have watched as he ordered the slaughter of those caught while attempting to escape the island in boats or aboard rafts. Indeed, those who respect him would not have had to endure the corralling of family members around a wall to watch their father’s, son’s or brother’s execution.
No, Fidel Castro is not to be respected. He was evil, as documented by his murderous actions and complete destruction of the Cuban economy.
Interestingly, Brian Hoff/Defender of Islam states that many Muslims around the world respect Castro. Of course they do . . . Fidel shared their propensity for murdering, imprisoning and torturing innocent people who reject their ideology.
So, Brian, your lack of respect for President-Elect Trump is meaningless … as is your comment.
mohamonator says
Doesn’t matter if a mohammedan wrote the letters or not. If no bodily harm or property damage was threatened no crime occurred. Vile, obnoxious, hate-filled letters are lamentable, but not illegal, in the US as long as the First Amendment still means something. The mohammedan victimhood industry goes into overdrive every time there is an “unfortunate incident” like the one at Ohio State but the answer to the problem is fewer “incidents” (ideally, none). If that happens (not likely, I know) then letters like this one will largely go away.
gravenimage says
If a letter is threatening, it is a crime–unless, of course, the individual sent it to himself–in which case, law enforcement can press charges for filing a false report, but they seldom do.
CrossWare says
I think the next level will be when muslims start complaining that they are so disliked in the community, they even have to write their own hate letters because nobody else would do it.

It seems like just yesterday I was looking at one of the letters and saying “you know, this looks like the work of a muslima. Look at the language, it is very similar to what we see coming from muslims. Sons of whores and dogs, vile and filthy people, etc.”.
Oh, wait, it *was* just yesterday I was saying that.

It easy for than muslim hater to goto thsn library to look up arab moslim insults and write then into his hateful letter to mosques.

I, for one, had no idea that local libraries stock books about mosleem insults. In any case, why would a mosleem hater use mosleem insults when making a letter as a non-mosleem? In case you forgot, this letter was supposedly a threat from a mosleem-hater to the local mosleems.
somehistory says
We don’t have to be FBI agents, or local PD, to recognize fake when we see it.
This was obvious from the first reading that it came from someone who views others as whores and dogs…and who regularly uses those words to describe people (moslims of course,)…and wanted the police to go searching for a non-existent normal person who doesn’t write very well.
Most normal people don’t have a problem with *dogs* and many even consider them “mans’ best friend.” It is highly unlikely that someone in the regular people community would refer to moslims as “dogs.”
But, moslims consider dogs as very unclean, even to the nullification of their preying to satan. So when the letter was written, what was in the heart of the writer came out.
It’s a fake and the person who wrote it goes to the barracks and preys daily. And all his captive *wives* wear head-coverings.

For a moment, let’s consider a non-muslim sent the letters. The letters are unacceptable. In the West, we hold ourselves to higher standards than that. But then, compare it with what Christians in Pakistan and Egypt, Yezidis in the Islamic State and other religious minorities in IOC states have to endure, and you might ask the muslims what they are so worried about.

I note the presence of LAPD commander Michael Downing, who is an apologist for Islamists. A few years ago, Downing was apart of a panel at an open house at the Orange County Islamic Center run by Muzammil Siddiqi. The topic was sharia and each of the panelists including Downing insisted that sharia law was perfectly compatible with the US Constitution.
After the event, I spoke with Downing and informed him that in 1992, Siddiqi had hosted the Blind Sheikh, Omar Abdel Rahman at that same mosque and translated his sermon about jihad into English.
Downing said, Well, Gary, you know, some people change over time.”

I’m a HUGE proponent of Freedom of Speech. I understand why this could be construed as a “hate incident” because there were veiled threats. But is it a hate incident to cite the truth about islam, rather than muslims? Instead of “muslims are a vile and filthy people”, why not “islam is a vile and filthy ideology.” There is no hate directed at persons, and it is from that very hateful ideology that some muslims cultivate their violence. I think the point is still made.
Mindy Robinson says
Dr. Sayed Moustafa al-Qazwini, the president of the Shia Muslim Council of Southern California, said: “We stand against hate crime and against terrorism.” Then the “dr” must speak out against islam.
Susette says
Unbelievable, isn’t it? Have we heard the “dr.” stand against islamic hate of “infidels” or the islamic terrorism that has plagued our world. I don’t think he means us “infidels” when he advises “members of the community to go about their normal activities.” Nothing is normal for Westerners now that the West has been invaded.
