They should be less fearful than determined and resolute, but they have every reason to be afraid: the jihadis are growing more aggressive by the day, while their government remains in denial and willful ignorance about the nature and magnitude of the threat, and continues to exacerbate it with its immigration policies. The French people have every reason to feel betrayed, abandoned, and helpless.

MORE than half of all French people live with the constant fear of a looming attack, and strongly believe they could become the next victim of terrorism, according to an opinion poll conducted by the Red Cross.
The news comes in the wake of the one-year anniversary of the November 13, 2015 terrorist attacks on Paris, where a heavily-armed and highly-trained ISIS commando stormed through the lively La République neighbourhood, leaving 130 dead, hundreds injured, and millions mentally scarred.
The shocking poll, which was carried out by the market research institute, Ifop, shows the terror threat to France has crept its way up to the top of the country’s priority list in recent years: only 38 per cent were worried that a massive terrorist attack would hit France in 2010.
An Ifop spokesperson said: “Some 70 per cent of French people said that the wave of ISIS- and al-Qaeda-led terrorist attacks – mostly carried out by homegrown jihadists – to have hit France throughout 2015 and 2016 has only served to exacerbate this fear.”
But, despite being “extremely” worried about the extremist threat, only around one third – 35 per cent – said they would know what to do and how to react in the event of a terror or bomb attack, he continued….
