“Far-right anti-Muslim groups have seized on the arson attack to call for a ban on refugees entering the country.”
Maybe they’re not “far-right” or “anti-Muslim” at all. Maybe they just don’t like things like, you know, jihad massacres and arson attacks in banks.
Their concerns, however, are misplaced — as always! “Victoria’s state Premier Daniel Andrews said on Sunday there was no political motivation involved in the attack on the bank,” and demanded that the attack not be used as “a political weapon by anybody who finds fault with any of the policy settings we have at the moment.”
How he knows there was no political motivation behind the attack, he didn’t say. But Reuters does tell us that the attacker “was suffering mental and financial problems.”
Mental problems! Of course! And what better way to deal with one’s financial problems than to set fire to a bank?
“Suspect in Australian bank fire identified as asylum seeker,” by Harry Pearl, Reuters, November 20, 2016:
A man suspected of starting a fire in an Australian bank on Friday that injured 27 people has been identified as an asylum seeker, angering far-right groups and adding to an increasingly heated national debate over immigration.
Six people were taken to hospital in critical condition after the 21-year-old suspect walked into a Melbourne branch of Commonwealth Bank of Australia and lit an accelerant, setting himself and the office on fire, Victoria Police said, adding the man was also in serious condition.
Far-right anti-Muslim groups have seized on the arson attack to call for a ban on refugees entering the country. They rallied in the city on Sunday to celebrate Republic Donald Trump’s U.S. presidential election victory….
Victoria’s state Premier Daniel Andrews said on Sunday there was no political motivation involved in the attack on the bank.
“It is not a commentary, and it oughtn’t to be used as a political weapon by anybody who finds fault with any of the policy settings we have at the moment,” The Age newspaper quoted Andrews as saying.
Habib Habib, from the Australian Burmese Rohingya Organization, said the man alleged to have carried out the attack was a Rohingya asylum seeker.
The man, who had spent time at an immigration detention on Christmas Island, was suffering mental and financial problems, he said. A federal government source confirmed to Reuters the man arrived in Australia by boat in 2013.

I am so sick of reading of the latest attack(s) on decent people by this scum of the earth that call themselves muslims. Back in the late 50’s I was stationed in Morocco where these people worked for us as hutboys –actually they were men who were quasi valets for US service personnel. GI’s with families had fatimas –female muslims – working as maids in their civilian housing billets.
They were respectful and THANKFUL to be employed…..somewhere along the line they got too big for their britches to the nations that gave them a hand up from their lives of misery and poverty. Now they’ve invaded Europe with their massive numbers and the bleeding hearted liberal politicians continually give them what they demand.
Time for all peace loving nations to take their nationality and nations BACK……If they cant or wont assimilate send them back to where they came from. There’s a reason the Crusades were fought. And I can see it more and more each day.

Some years ago, I knew a gentleman who, during WW2 was stationed in ( what was then ) French North Africa (now Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco).
He told me that ( remember, this was wartime) on the base that he was stationed at, there were curfews- NOBODY-other than the soldiers SUPPOSED TO BE OUT (of doors) WERE TO BE OUT OF DOORS. The penalty was- being shot- and the shot was to KILL NOT DISABLE. The Muslims who worked there (and possibly some who were in the military-on the side of the Free French) would send THEIR CHILDREN OUT AFTER DARK- WHEN THE CURFEW WAS IN EFFECT- to play, or rob, or get beer or cigarettes (including by robbing)- and would be upset when their children were shot. (The children were, as he told me, in the area of 10-11 and upwards to low teen age years-old enough to know better).

Not quite. As a matter of fact, Australia is far ahead of Europe and US. We have a party, represented in the senate, openly against moslem immigration, both legal and illegal. This party is growing rapidly in numbers and strength and even now has much more influence, than its numbers might suggest. There is no such party in any European counry or in US. The unti-immigration parties in Europe, even, if high in numbers (Holland), have minimal impact on their government. All of them, US included, don’t want to stop legal moslem invasion. Australia is the only country, which is openly against all moslem invasion, legal and illegal. Australia is the only country, which is debating a project of leaving UN.
The world has to do a lot of catching up to Australia.

I looked around a fair bit, but didn’t find everything.
Three points people need to think about.
1/ He carried out the attack on a FRIDAY. This is the mulsim ‘holy’ day. Muslims who died on Friday get to go to paradise.
2/ He attacked an infidel bank. Infidel banks lend at interest. Lending at interest is forbidden by the sharia. Every Infidel bank is in breach of the sharia. So attacking an infidel bank is a *very* Islamic thing to do.
3/ He had been *gambling*… blowing ‘his” (that is, the money we infidels paid to keep him alive, fed and housed) at the pokies. Gambling is forbidden by Islam.
What if, to wipe out his own transgression of the sharia ban on gambling, he decided to engage in a spot of jihad.. against an infidel interest-charging financial institution?
Haricha Singh says
The vast majority of Muslims ancestors converted due to force. Throughout history a minority of Muslim fanatics intimidated them. Many Pakistan Muslims lament the end of the Sikh Kingdom and the British raj kept Muslim fanatics in check.
So it is no surprise many Muslim immigrants want Muslim fanatic immigration stopped as they would attempt to coerce other Muslims into following sharia and hijab rules.
Many Muslims come to the West to flee the horrors of Muslim society and don’t want it to follow them here. Many won’t speak out for fear of reprisal against themselves and family in home countries. They silently support Trump and anti jihad activities knowing results of an Islamised society.

Even worse, I would argue, gravenimage, are people like Zuhdi Jasser and Daniel Pipes, who sincerely actually and regularly assert that Islam can be separated from its political and social Sharia components.
So I see three levels of problems for the West: 1) “enthusiastic” Muslims (and I know you know what I mean here; 2) the ones you described in your 8:53 P.M. post; and 3) people like Jasser, Pipes, the present Pope, et al. who, for whatever ultimately indefensible reason or reasons, continue to seek a “good” Islam out there.
I would assert that “3)” poses the greatest danger to the West. What do you think?

……………………………
Hard to say, Wellington–though I very much see your point. Obviously, none of this would be a real issue if it were not for Muslims eager to impose Shari’ah law on us, including via violent Jihad.
Certainly, supposedly “moderate” Muslims are a huge threat, since all of them–save the few virtual apostates–have the same goal as the “enthusiastic” ones (I love that characterization), of imposing Islam on us. Even now, many Infidels–even those who are quite savvy about violent Jihad and quite robustly oppose it–miss this entirely.
I still don’t know whether Jasser is sincere or not–but he is *not* an ally of ours, whether this is his intent or not, since he only serves to whitewash Islam, presenting his fantasy version of it as the real thing. It barely matters in the practical sense whether this is cynical Taqiyya or an actual delusional belief that his vile creed can be reformed.
Unlike Jasser, of course, there are a *lot* of people like Pope Francis–Infidels who desperately want to believe that Islam is not a threat, and so declare that it is not. The only difference with the Pope is his religious role and that he is more influential than most–other than that, he might be almost any other witless Western politician.
I would–as we’ve discussed before–put Dr. Pipes in a rather different category. Despite his naive hope that Islam can be reformed, he is actually quite a staunch Anti-Jihadist. One could say much the same for Ayaan Hirsi Ali–although she has even less reason than Pipes to believe that Islam can be reformed, since she grew up with its savagery.
I wish everyone were at least as savvy about the Jihad threat as are these last two, despite their blind spots.
Overall, it is a two-pronged problem–there would be no threat without Muslims, of course, but they probably would not have been able to make much of an incursion into our civilized societies without the willful denial and enabling by clueless Infidels. Their stance is certainly not as morally reprehensible as is Islam, but it is still incredibly dangerous to us.
A “one-two punch” that might still destroy us, unless we can turn the tide. There do seem to be a few good signs of Infidels waking up–but one hopes it is not too little too late. I still believe we can win out–but it will not be easy. Some days I am more hopeful than others.

If this immigrant (welfare seeker) was from an African country then it is likely he is mentally challenged. By that i mean his IQ is probably around 85. You can’t hate people for being slow witted, but you can’t at the same time use it as an excuse to justify violence. A determination should be made of his mental age as well as what motivated his behavior. Deportation may be the only rational option. Many people with downs syndrome lead productive lives and in fact often display many admirable human traits. Being mentally challenged does not equal morally challenged. It takes something else to shape the direction of such a person’s life. If that direction is into fundamentalist Islam then that mind will develop along the lines of hatred, envy, resentment and frustration. Then the person becomes not just a social burden but a lifelong threat to property and lives. Islam plus mental deficiency creates a walking, hair triggered, time bomb. It can go off at any time, without reason or any discernible cause. The victims are usually the people he refuses to understand and who are worthy of his gratitude rather than his disdain.

Incidents like this should be angering everyone, not just “far-right groups.”
As for “adding to an increasingly heated national debate over immigration” I wonder why the debate is getting “increasingly heated.” Could it be that people are getting thoroughly fed up with migrants doing this kind of thing fairly regularly? Could it be that people are finally getting fed up with the complete lack of any any meaningful consequences for the offenders? Could it be that people are finally getting fed up with the constant demands of Muslim migrants? Could it be that people are getting thoroughly fed up with political leaders telling them that nothing is wrong with this and that they are “far-right” extremists for thinking that this is a problem?
I think the election of Donald Trump indicates a turning point in the debate. I’m curious to see what the outcome of the next Australian elections will be.

So now you have to be “far right”A to be concerned over a Muslim setting a bank on fire and seriously injuring more than two dozen people?
This slur should be recognized as completely meaningless at this point.
dumbledoresarmy says
What’s more: most of that two dozen were women, little kids and elderly people. And a good few of them seem to have been from our East and Southeast Asian infidel immigrant community – Vietnamese and Cambodian Buddhists, mainly.
I bet we’ll find that he had scoped out a number of banks, and that he selected the one he thought most vulnerable, where he stood the chance of killing the most people. And he may have chosen a bank with a lot of Buddhist/ EAst/ southeast Asian customers, quite deliberately.

“Victoria’s state Premier Daniel Andrews said on Sunday there was no political motivation involved in the attack on the bank”. Please note premier Andrews is very Left Wing.
This attack is all about politics, Islam and the Refugee Issue.
1, Can’t get Australian residency? Simply go and set fire to a suburban bank, put innocent lives at risk, death or horrific burns. just the sort of person we don’t want to invite to Australia.
2, Police can’t find a motive? (i) See #1 (ii) Instructions from Victoria’s left wing State premier, as in “don’t offend Muslims or Refugees” (iii) Not Terror? Sorry, it is not a politely written letter to the paper either. When innocent lives are at risk and property is destroyed that is terror.
3, While the world is applauding Burma’s shift to democracy why is the UN and the international community ignoring the plight of the Rohingya (Muslim) minority. Burma should be treating this part of it’s community properly, giving them full rights etc. But no, Burma will expect Australia, Canada etc to take them. But note the Rohingya have a lot in common with the Bangladeshi people who live next door in Bangladesh. That is where they should be sent.

Those wonderful peaceful Rohingyas. Victims of the nasty kaffirs!
It’s not their fault that a young boy in a refugee centre was available for sexual abuse (see the 1st September article on the sickening event in Jihad Watch). Or that they have to involve themselves in a violent muslim nationalist insurrection in the Isthmus of Kra (nasty Thai Buddhist failing to respect the best of peoples). And the wicked Kaffirs failing to provide Jizya payments in this case….
How often do we have to be force-fed the self-pitying taqiyya that paints these aggressors as perpetual victims? The Rohingya are a vicious offshoot from the Chittagong district. They tried to muscle their way into Arrakan state in Burma – and now they’re trying to mount a hijra to the West. Just compare their near-complete lack of cultural achievement with the glories of West Bengal (i.e., Hindu) culture over the last century and a half. Or even the historical achievement of the earlier Buddhist culture in Bangladesh (like the great monastic centres of Paharpur and Mainamati) – their congenetics, for heaven’s sake – with the cultural desert that Islam produced.
It’s not the far-right that are nauseated by all this – it’s ordinary, rational adults. Our glorious PM (Malcolm Turnbull) and the esteemed leader of the opposition (Bill Shorten) had better start listening to the upswell of popular discontent – or we might see a homegrown Orban arise.
