Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Saudi Arabia warns Trump on blocking oil imports

Nov 16, 2016 10:37 am By Robert Spencer

“At his heart President-elect Trump will see the benefits and I think the oil industry will also be advising him accordingly that blocking trade in any product is not healthy.”

Threat noted.

Will Trump bow to the Saudis like his predecessor? Or press on toward complete American energy independence? If he does hold firm, he would deal a huge blow to the global jihad, which gets so very much money from oil revenues.

“Saudi Arabia warns Trump on blocking oil imports,” by Pilita Clark, Financial Times, November 15, 2016:

Saudi Arabia has warned Donald Trump that the incoming US president will risk the health of his country’s economy if he acts on his election promises to block oil imports.

In a sign of the difficulties Mr Trump faces over his campaign pledges to create “complete American energy independence” from “our foes and the oil cartels”, Saudi Arabia’s energy minister pointedly reminded the president-elect that the US “benefits more than anybody else from global free trade”, adding, “energy is the lifeblood of the global economy”.

“At his heart President-elect Trump will see the benefits and I think the oil industry will also be advising him accordingly that blocking trade in any product is not healthy,” Khalid al-Falih, who is also chairman of Aramco, the state-run oil company, told the Financial Times in Marrakesh, where he is leading Saudi Arabia’s delegation in UN climate talks….

A welcome change for the US would be independence of oil import to sustain its economy. Not because of climate change, but in order to help achieve this, I would like to bring to your attention that programs to insulate houses and to save energy have been able to boost the Dutch economy and have created mamy many well paid jobs here in the Netherlands. Those investments pay themselves back within typically seven years, after that time it is pure profit. And it helps to counter the influence of oil producing arabic countries, and, most importantly, makes it more difficult for those salafist countries to buy huge amounts of heavy weapons.

These venues are all part of the web to spread Islam throughout our countries, and to influence our ignorant politicians.

Indeed, precisely why nations such as the US only stand to win by becoming energy independent.

Mr Falih, whose kingdom is the world’s largest exporter of crude, said that, although the US imported millions of barrels of oil, it had also “benefited hugely” from being able to freely sell “significant amounts” of exported products.

The Saudis buy US products with money resulting from selling oil to, among others, the US. If the numbers available from the CIA Worldfact Book are correct, the US loses billions per year when dealing with Saudi Arabia (i.e., the money they spend buying oil from Saudi Arabia is more than what they get from selling stuff to Saudi Arabia).

“The US is sort of the flag-bearer for capitalism and free markets,” he added.

Yes, and not wanting to sell or buy from one specific individual or country is part of a free market.

Reflecting the frustration of many countries in Marrakesh, Mr Falih said the industrial and technological strength of the US meant it would find it easier to abide by the Paris accord than poorer nations.

He is correct here – the “carbon trade” and “carbon tax” policies will impact developing nations, nipping their development in the bud and helping to keep corrupt governments in power.

  8. Mac-101 says

All we need to do is have a floating import tax placed on oil based on a given price. Say we declare American oil companies need to have 75 dollars a barrel to keep from going bankrupt. To protect them from international providers dropping the price to as low as 25 dollars to bankrupt our energy industry, just set import taxes that adjust. Say foreign oil is shipped into the US at 50 dollars. The government says 75 should be the benchmark. Come up with a formula, say 75-50 =25 and divide it by half, what ever, for a tax on the imported oil at 12.50. If they drop the price to 25, use 75-25 =50 and divide by 2 +25 bucks tax.
    .
These numbers are arbitrary and can be whatever the experts work out. I’m just saying we need to protect ourselves from foreign dependency and also protect the consumer from domestic price gouging by the American companies if they are too protected.

“Not healthy” in the sense of flouting the Mafia “not healthy”?

    More:

Saudi Arabia has warned Donald Trump that the incoming US president will risk the health of his country’s economy if he acts on his election promises to block oil imports.
    ………………………………….

Just as Al Qaida threatened the health of the American economy on 9/11…

    More:

“The US is sort of the flag-bearer for capitalism and free markets,” he added.
    ………………………………….

Right…because *Muslims* have always been champions of Capitalism…what a joke.

Besides, this idiot does not seem to understand how this would work–or else he is pretending that he does not.

If we had enough cheap domestic product no one would have to block oil imports at all–instead, end users would just buy domestic for economic reasons.

This is, in fact, *exactly* how the free market works when not skewed by external controls.

I sincerely hope we’ll make the effort for energy independence. This nation has been held hostage long enough by the oil producers, when we have plenty of untapped energy ourselves.
As we look towards the future for the USA, energy independence, with the knowledge that we can have access to multiple sources of energy here at home, will release the nation from deals with countries that have made great financial strides by keeping Uncle Sam as their subscriber.

Venezuela has a long border with Colombia, protected by a heavily armed military. To protect against Colombian smugglers. BRINGING IN SUCH DANGEROUS CONTRABAND AS: TOILET PAPER; TOOTHPASTE AND TOOTH POWDER; DEODORANT; AND SHAMPOO.

( A friend of mine’s wife is from Venezuela, and he has told me this-she has family there; another friend has a wife from Columbia, with family there, and has confirmed).

Take away Iranian money (late night plane flights with cash ring any bells-) Venezuela would be in even worse shape- the military would (probably) revolt.

Iran celebrates terrorists ( especially those that kill Israelis), and vows DEATH TO ISRAEL. DEA TH TO AMERICA.

To put this in perspective with some raw numbers:

In 2015 the US imported a total of 9.4 million barrels per day (mmb/d) of petroleum products broadly. These imports came from 88 countries. 78% of our gross imports were crude.

We exported 4.7 mmb/d to 147 countries. These were mostly refined products like gasoline etc.

Saudi Arabia accounted for 1.06 mmb/d or 11% of our net imports.

To put that amount of crude into perspective – Motiva is a Joint Venture (JV) between Saudi Aramco and Shell. Motiva operates 3 refineries in the US. Their refinery in Port Arthur TX has a capacity of 600 b/d. This is roughly 60% of daily imports from Saudi. The Motiva JV accounts operates 3 refineries with a total capacity of over 1mb/d. Incidentally, this JV is being dissolved on April 1 2017.
I am not saying that these refineries use Saudi crude. I don’t know if they do or do not. I am only pointing at the numbers in terms of mmb/d to reference the impact of Saudi imports of petroleum into the US.

Basically, Saudi Arabia’s contribution to US crude imports is enough to keep 3 refineries running.

In the US we produce 9.4mmb/d

If we increase US production by about 11% we can replace Saudi imports with US produced crude oil.

There are factors that I am ignoring. For example, refineries need different equipment for different types of crude. It does cost money and time to convert from one grade to another.

    My suggestion is:

    1) Put Harold Hamm or another oil man with expertise in US oil production into a key energy policy cabinet role.

    2) Release un-redacted information about Saudi involvement in 9/11. Declare the MB a terrorist organization. This way the public is properly informed and understands why the next step is necessary.

3)Shut down all Saudi imports and stop any Saudi exports of refined products.

4)Let the price of West Texas Intermediate crude go up to support higher levels of US production.

5)Provide one time government subsidies to convert refinery equipment (this is not owned by Saudi Arabian interests) from sour Saudi Crude to higher quality US produced crude.

Short term problems will occur for example prices will go up and supply dislocation will occur. These can be absorbed and managed.

In mid 2014 US produced crude traded at $107/bbl today it is trading at about $45/bbl. We can support an increase in the price of crude as we work to absorb reduced imports from Saudi Arabia.

Dislocations in supply can also be managed by the releases from the US strategic petroleum reserve which contains 727 million barrels this is enough supply to replace 685 days (1.87 years) of Saudi imports.

Lastly, we should stop selling military equipment and expertise to the Saudis (unless it does not work or is sabotaged)

Interesting. May I add two suggestions? Buy Canadian oil sands crude. There is enough oil there to last 100 years. Pipe it down to the refineries in the Golf. Now that Trump is in, I’m sure we can finally go ahead with that pipeline.

The other suggestion is the promotion of electric vehicles. The Southern states have a wealth of energy resources in the form of free, all natural sunlight. Let the desert bloom with solar energy farms. Use the energy thereby produced to power the electric vehicles.

Of course, the national grid currently makes it difficult to spread that energy around the country. Perhaps then it would pay to ship batteries by rail by the hundreds of thousands for charging down to Arizona or wherever the solar farms are located. Then develop an economy where people just swap out a discharged battery for a freshly charged one daily at their neighbourhood filling station. Just a crazy idea 🙂

Canadian oil sands and other non conventional resource plays as well as alternative sources of energy and energy conservation should all be in the mix.

Mr. Khalid A. Al-Falih is both the Energy Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) and the chairman of the state-run oil company Aramco (is that a conflict of interest?). It is astonishing that such a capable, well educated man believes that crude oil is, as he says, a fungible product. Does he really believe that West Texas Intermediate (WTI), which is a low-sulfur “sweet” crude oil, is interchangeable (= fungible) with high-sulfur “sour” Saudi Crude? See
    http://oilprice.com/Energy/Crude-Oil/A-Detailed-Guide-On-The-Many-Different-Types-Of-Crude-Oil.html
But he also believes that “blocking trade in any product is not healthy.” It is encouraging that this free trader is an advocate for unrestricted trade in crystal meth, tefillins, and Bibles in the KSA.

Telling, so instructive and, dare I say, so rich ( a word full of meaning, no?), that an SA spokesman wants to lecture America again, even though had the Arabian peninsula been left to its own devices to this day, with NO Western technological input, it would still have not figured out to extract its petroleum reserves from its territory.

The giant parasite which is the Islamic world continues, this time “courtesy” of the family masquerading as a country. Fitting though, since Islam has many guises, all of them false.

Al-Falih, the man entrusted to explain the globull worming racket.

Could he make it any clearer that the climate racket is nothing but massive redistribution of wealth? Wealth generated in first world countries to sustain Muslim hellholes that will never come out of poverty because of Islam. I really wonder if Trump has the cojones to see this through. The lobbying is relentless and the corruption is rife in Washington.

    • Wellington says

      Nov 16, 2016 at 8:16 pm

I think Trump has the cojones but what concerns me is that he does not have enough accurate knowledge. Remember, he said in the early part of this year that he thinks Islam hates us. He was right of course. Islam is a giant hater; it is suffused with hatred and anyone denying this can be dismissed either because of their mendacity or because of their ignorance.

Islam hates all those who dare disagree with it, BUT it was Trump’s street smarts, which are considerable, that led him to the accurate conclusion that he stated. But street smarts alone are not enough when confronting a monumental evil like Islam. Here Trump remains deficient, but I am hoping, as with Harry Truman, he is an ignorant man who learns fast.

I think he is. I hope he is. Freedom depends a great deal on this being the case. Islam, of course, as with the enormously ignorant Left, is hoping otherwise. Verdict still out.

In effect, on his display as a representative of the globalist agenda 21 uni government ideas unto which we are to genuflect and murmur quietly in ‘subjugation and respect for our own demise’, to their using our wealth to finance our ‘submission’.

KSA are nowadays in trembling fear, as a one horse pony show of oil, cancelling quarter billion of now unfundable projects, selling dollars, and losing influence globally in several ways. Oil has them in a panic, thanks to lower prices, likely to last ten years, perhaps more, once we get online. And rig counts are on the upswing, best in 9 months, already.

We have around a hundred years of petro fuels reserves, perhaps more, as at least coal, oil, and gas, combined, supplemented with what likely will become slowly increasing competitive renewables (more quickly with more STEM students), which will extend ever cleaner reserves, also, so we should be able to tear a big hole in their ‘subjection’ plans, with an independent (of globalists) administration. ‘Price negotiable’, but likely a bit higher, barrel equivalent, than now. That, with relatively low energy prices, and low taxes, lesser regulations, fairer health insurance, lower waste and cost and smaller government, ought to boost economic climate and increase jobs, very well.

Now we have to make it through Yellen’s little caper of raising interest rates in December, in a bid to support the opposition, instead of America, in an unwarranted, premature, and highly dangerous rate increase under very unwise circumstances, at this time.

A gigantic and critical project must be to seal the illegitimate vote off from being able to happen, like the border, which now is in the millions, in states requiring absolutely no voter ID, about 19 of them this election. Illegal immigrants and the ‘ungrateful’ dead are reported to have cast around 5 million illegal votes, at votefraud.org, which found 3 million dead people alone registered to vote, and plenty of illegals who actually voted, more than once among many, I suspect. The democrats, who congenitally seem to want to be cheaters, know where their bread is buttered, and work hard for that illegitimate vote, especially with the meme, partially stated ‘vote early’…..And they have the typical nerve of the crook, to blame that it represses the …….vote, (fill in the blank with) whatever excuse they want. The voter virtually all, has an ID, for food stamps, taxes, banks, vehicles, whatever. Unless homeless, or other special condition, all easily remediable, all have picture IDs.

We’ll see, if perhaps the sheeple have any ability to be educated short of repeating history, as always, in blood. The forces of opposition are globally great, combined, and they are lined up against the interests of American Freedom. They do mean bad business, of continuous harassment of Trump, the new actual administration, and we Freemen!. They want failure, so they can scream how Trump blah, blah, blah. Never mind they were the cause, they never are to blame for their own stupidities, of decades, upon decades. The ‘loyalists’ want their country back, (believe in crying, screaming, and sniveling in the streets), that it was ‘stolen’ from them, the ‘rightful’ owners of their prize, America. They shall not get it. It was never theirs, ever. Not after way over a half million American lives already sacrificed, for America…

Minor little important correction- ‘selling dollars’ should read ‘selling treasuries’ (i.e..bonds)

Saudis have no business to tell the US what she should do with her money or economy leave alone the threats and warnings. Need one to remind the Saudis how they were trying to kill the shale oil industry in US When oil price was on the downward spiral?

Those on the payroll of ME would have obliged Saudis etc but the president elect. Trump has shown the world that he is independent of ME proven by his tweet to Qatari prince on the refugee issue.

He might do better than Bush who famously quoted: Islam is a “peaceful” religion.

Saudi believes in global dominance through Sharia amply proven by her international network of Wahabism and Salafism across the globe. It is noteworthy that their evil designs started around the year 1971 when the oil boom made her a powerhouse.

Now is the time to prove her that global will matters, especially that of free world.

    What would happen if?
We could convince several million citizens to NOT TRAVEL OR BURN IMPORTED OIL for a single day each month?
Do you think the Saudi’s might notice if we all stayed home FOR ONE FULL DAY?
We can call it the “Boycot foreign Oil” day.
And let the Arabs pound sand!

I’m of the opinion that we should deplete their oil resources before we deplete ours. If there ever comes a time in the future where there is a global war between Islamic states and the West and we do not have oil, we’re screwed. So, the faster the world uses up their reserves, the better, I think.

Unfortunately, R, Muslim countries are using their unearned oil wealth to wage violent Jihad–often against us.

I understand that but where will we be in a future global war against Islam, in which we have very little to no oil and they do?

The Saudi’s obviously think they are really something, don’t they? Do they honestly believe that we need them? How dare he threaten the next president like that! I sincerely hope Donald Trump follows through and gets the Bakken and West Texas oil fields cranking again and gets Americans working again. I drove truck in the Bakken in 2013, earning $20 an hour, working 16 hours a day, seven days a week. The feds made money from the taxes that were withheld. Get that pipeline built so we can get the North Dakota crude to the refineries on the Gulf Coast. If the Saudi’s tell the world not to buy American crude and gas exports, fine, but not every country will stop buying American crude. The Saudi’s have enjoyed their gravy train for far too long and they are worried that American crude exports will severely cut their income. They know they are in trouble. We don’t need their oil when we have our own, so let’s start drilling again and get this country back to prosperity. And Trump needs to get the EPA out of the road – they are a major roadblock to prosperity as their policies greatly hinder the operation of American businesses that create jobs and employ millions of Americans. We can’t have jobs AND clean air. We have to find a middle ground.

In addition to all the above comments, bear in mind the announcement of what now is considered to be the DISCOVERY OF THE LARGEST EVER OIL FIELD, IN AMERICA, EVER DISCOVERED YET, ON LAND, SHALE, 2 BILLION BARREL EQUIVALENTS, ESTIMATED WITH CURRENT SWEET WTI VALUES, SAID BY ANALYSTS, TO BE NEARLY A TRILLION DOLLAR DISCOVERY!!!!. Second biggest in the world….Near and above, the Permian West Texas field, called the ‘Alpine high’ field. The article is an informative read, in the WSJ referenced, near next.

You will learn, recovery technology and exploratory technology evolve, improve, leading to more recoverable oil and new petro, over time. So, there are more discoveries to come, no one needs to panic, let Trump right the ship of State of America, and float all boats on a rising tide of a wealth of success!

Especially in the light of the onset of a new Maunder-Dalton minimum, that could well upset the food production apple cart of the world, in just a few more years, less than ten more years. Anyone notice, the 100 year low so far of energy laden sunspots? Records clearly show that SUNSPOTS matter, to all of us!!! They effect more than just our received heat, and surface temperatures, also HF ‘skip’, when they are present.

    http://www.wsj.com/articles/apache-has-high-hopes-for-new-oil-field-discovery-in-texas-1473245702 …hopes-for-new-oil-field-discovery-in-texas-1473245702
Apache says it has discovered the equivalent of at least two billion barrels of oil in a new West Texas field that has the promise to become …

We don’t need to finance our decline by paying our enemy the funds they need right now to subjugate us, they have no way to use their resources productively, thanks mostly to their fundamentally entrenched ideology of war-islam-the caravan raiding thug gang of bullies. That very ideology effectively makes them impotent warring cheating stealing, torturing murdering, pedophilic, bullies, but that’s another story…Isn’t it?

So what? The Saudis cannot drink their oil. That is the only commodity they can sell for food, cars, trucks, clothing, books, travel —-you name it. Let them taste poverty for a change.

Saudi Arabia sells most of its oil to East Asia and South Asia. South Korea, China, and India are major customers of Saudi oil. Not the west. Saudi Arabia does not need to rely on the west for oil sales and weapons. It buys weapons from China.

“The top export destinations of Saudi Arabia are China ($44.2B), Japan ($42.5B), the United States ($41.8B), South Korea ($33.1B) and India ($30B).”

      http://atlas.media.mit.edu/en/profile/country/sau/

The idea that if Saudi Arabia lost one of its top three importers that it would be of no consequence is pretty iffy–but Mazo, as usual, wants us to believe that “resistance is futile”.
