A Burton mum who became the first woman from the UK to be jailed for joining ISIS, received more than £132,000 to pay for her defence while facing the charges in court back in January.
Add on just a few others out of the countless:
Muslim migrant with four wives and 23 children claimed $389,000 a year in benefits in Germany, while it was reported two years ago that “immigration from outside Europe over the Labour government years cost the public purse billions of pounds, while recent migration from inside Europe generated a £4 billion surplus.” Costs are much higher now, given the surge of Muslim refugees into Western countries.
In Sweden, “perhaps the most acute case, immigrants are estimated at 1.5 million out of 10 million people; immigration is estimated to cost almost $14 billion per year.” Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt admitted: “It will cost you money, we will not be able to afford much else, but it’s really people fleeing for their lives.” Tell that to Swedish children in food lines! Meanwhile,”US taxpayers will hand over around $20,000 to settle each ‘refugee’ and ‘asylum seeker’ coming to America in terms of the Obama Middle East refugee policy.”
All the while, complaints ring out about lack of adequate accommodations for Muslim refugees, while these refugees are at risk for radicalization.
“ISIS woman from Burton given £132,000 in legal aid”, by AMusgrove, Burton Mail, November 28, 2016:
A Burton mum who became the first woman from the UK to be jailed for joining ISIS, received more than £132,000 to pay for her defence while facing the charges in court back in January.
Tareena Shakil fled to Syria in October 2014 to join the terrorist organisation before being arrested on her return. She was then charged and later found guilty of joining IS and encouraging acts of terror after a trial that gained global attention.
Figures obtained by the Mail show that the 26-year-old received £132,703 to pay for her solicitor and barrister through the tax-payer funded Legal Aid system which gives financial support to those who cannot afford to be represented in court.
A total of £72,875 was paid to her solicitor, £53,918 to her barrister and there was £5,909 to cover disbursements.
Burton MP Andrew Griffiths, while accepting the importance of the Legal Aid system in the UK, told the Mail that people would be ‘understandably upset’ at the costs.
He said: “People will understandably be upset at the cost of the legal defence team, but it is an important part of our justice system that defendants get access to legal representation.
“There is nothing more important than keeping the nation safe from threats of terrorism. Preventing young people from being radicalised and from going to places like Syria and then potentially returning to the UK after being filled with hate is something that we must guard against.
“This only shows the importance of ensuring British born young people are not fundamentalised here in Britain and much more needs to be done to prevent that happening.”
Shakil who attended de Ferrers Academy in the town and worked at Morrisons supermarket, is currently serving a six-year-sentence; four years for joining IS and two years for inciting acts of terror.
Sentencing her back in February, Mr Justice Inman told the court that Shakil showed ‘no remorse’ for her actions.
The court had heard how Shakil spent a student loan on plane tickets to Turkey flying out from East Midlands Airport – she then crossed the border into Syria. Once there she used social media to show her life in Syria, telling family members that it was part of her faith to kill the murtadeen (apostates) and that she wanted to die a martyr.
However after just a few months Shakil decided to leave Syria. She handed herself into to Turkish border patrols after a bus and taxi journey from the city of Raqqa.
Shakil admitted she had travelled to Syria but denied joining ISIS…..
