There is absolutely nothing in this story or in any of the others I was able to find about this address that gave the slightest hint of the motivating ideology of this “40-year-old man.” How anyone can think this is responsible reporting is a mystery. The establishment propaganda media continues to do all it can to keep the public in the dark about the nature and magnitude of the threat it faces. Meanwhile, this 40-year-old chap may be an Amish terrorist and not a jihadi, but the odds are slim.
“Terrorism squad arrests man at Sydney Airport over New Year’s Eve ‘threat,'” by Timothy Fernandez and Siobhan Fogarty, ABC.net.au, December 29, 2016 (thanks to Kenneth):
A 40-year-old man has been arrested and charged over making threats online targeting Sydney’s New Year’s Eve festivities.
Officers from the NSW Police Force Terrorism Investigation Squad arrested the man at Sydney’s international airport on Thursday after receiving a tip-off from the public.
The man arrived in the country on a plane from London and was taken to Mascot Police Station following his arrest.
He allegedly made online threats on a blog towards New Year’s Eve activities.
A search warrant was executed at a home in Chippendale as well as a storage facility, where items including documents and hard drives were seized.
The man has been refused bail and will appear in Parramatta Local Court today.
In a statement, Deputy Police Commissioner Catherine Burn said initial investigations suggested it was an isolated incident.
“The community should be also reassured that we will take swift action to ensure the ongoing safety of the public.”
City of Sydney councillor Jess Scully said there will be a strong police presence during the evening.
“I think it’s always really difficult these days when you have large public gatherings and security is something that is top of mind,” she said.
“I know it’s something that we’re working really closely with the New South Wales Police.”…

All throughout the world, police and other law enforcement agencies and anti-terrorist entities are hugely beefing up their security measures at public gatherings that, even last year, were considered relatively safe. This is a visible, palpable result of jihad, and it highlights how jihadi activities have invaded the Western psyche. It’s terribly sad and has significantly diminished the freedoms we have all enjoyed for ages to congregate publicly and to celebrate our traditions and holidays.
And all this security is MASSIVELY expensive, too. Where are we headed?
It only takes one or two “men” to strap on bombs and wreak havoc, security measures notwithstanding. It feels like we’ve entered a losing battle, ultimately.
Cheers!

Maybe not– if we pretend it isn’t there.

Yes, Kay! LET;S DO THAT!!! “Pretending makes it so” worked miracles in the ’70s in Boulder, Colorado… (sarc off)
BTW, to illustrate my point above, JW just sent a new post reporting that “65 garbage trucks are being deployed to Times Square for New Year’s Eve gathering. Unheard of and, again, VERY expensive, even before you count additional cops and garbage truck drivers on overtime…
22 days left of the Obama nightmare, and counting….but his “legacy” will live on for a LONG time. We didn’t need 65 garbage trucks to guard Times Square in 2008. Russian diplomat referred to Obama as a “political corpse”. Nicely put, but perhaps a little short-sighted.

All true, Quota–one of the aims of Jihad is to bankrupt the Infidels trying to defend against it. Osama bin Laden openly claimed this as was one of the goals of 9/11.

the ultimate “policing” will have to be done by the muslim societies themselves…
but that will be impossible until our ‘leaders’ stop being complicit to the coverup of the core motivations, and stop shilling for Islam

ABC News. Nuff’ said.
Tim says
Yes, the ABC, our government funded left wing controlled propaganda machine. Every bit as bad as SBS, the “multi” cultural station where it is unusual to see a “white” Australian reporter and if you hear the words “white” and “Australia” in the same story it’s going to be something negative.
One could almost conclude that the race/culture which founded the “Australian way of life”, the society that draws so many to want to live here, is not part of this “multi” culture. “Australians are racists”, a term one hears often. By this I think we are meant to assume they are referring to “white” Australians. Of course there is nothing racist about labelling everyone from a particular racial/cultural background as all being the same, well not if they happen to be “white” anyway. “Muslims are terrorists”, offensive and completely unacceptable. “Australians are racist”, media approved.
quota raven says
To Tim – who sez “… “Muslims are terrorists”, offensive and completely unacceptable. “Australians are racist”, media approved.”
Try this, instead: “Terrorists are Muslims”.By and large, it’s true. And perhaps less offensive to the other side. Me, I can embrace both statements.

Tim meant that is what the media pushes–not what he himself believes.
Tim says
Thanks Cravenimage, precisely what I’d intended. Frankly I was a little supposed that someone would reply in the manner that they did as I really thought that would have been self evident. Cheers
Tim says
Oops, I meant surprised not supposed but can’t edit.

It was “an isolated incident”.
Yes, like those 30,000 plus other successful isolated incidents.
Salome says
From other reports (google ‘Sydney new years eve terrorist’) it would appear that his name is Damien James O’Neill. He has been charged with a ‘Crimes Act’ offence and not a terrorism offence.
gravenimage says
I wonder what his Muslim name is?

This is very irresponsible reporting. Imagine you are a researcher, researching Islam terror. You go through a digital database of newspaper articles with key search words like Muslim, Jihad, Islamic, etc, to find all news stories with your related search terms. You will end up with very distorted search results.
JIMJFOX says
Agreed. WHY does someone as reputable as Spencer speculate wildly before facts are known. Pam Geller does the same. Now, they MAY turn out to be right- but that does NOT approximate responsible coverage.
Thus both make themselves [sometimes] appear as zealots which is damaging their own credibility; whilst admiring both, I don’t want them to ‘shoot themselves in the foot’.
billybob says
Umm… I was referring to the news report quoted, not to Spencer’s commentary on it. I think in this case there is no doubt the news report was referring to an Islamic terrorist. Sorry you misunderstood me.
“A 40-year-old man has been arrested and charged over making threats online targeting Sydney’s New Year’s Eve festivities.”
Can you think of any other plausible motive other than Islam for the actions of this “40-year-old man”? Maybe he is a disgruntled 40 year old postal worker perhaps?
Tim says
Yes JIMJFOX, while you may have missed billybob’s point I do agree with you.
Although omitted from this version of events, in the original article it was stated
“Acting Deputy Commissioner Mennilli said the man did not have links to any cultural groups.
“He has been charged with a Crimes Act offence, not a terrorist offence,” he said.
While it would be easy to conclude it is jihad related by the modus operandi one should not jump to conclusions.
For quite some time I have taken many of the Jihadwatch stories with a grain of salt and looked into their origins myself. Some of these stories are at least groomed to fit or accentuate. Unfortunate, as you’ve stated, it weakens credibility.
davej says
With now over 30,000 confirmed Islamic terror attacks since 9/11 we don’t need to jump to conclusions about any individual case, there is time to discover the facts.
Maybe it was just “a man”. Could be Buddhist, Hindu, Amish or Cherokee. We’ll see.
gravenimage says
This is not what billybob was saying, Jim.
He was noting how often Jihad terrorists are just described as “men”–he was not castigating Robert Spencer for daring to report this story.
If you read the commentary at the beginning, he notes that it is possible that this was an Amish terrorist–or something else non-Islamic–but that it is not likely.

” An isolated incident ” Technically yes it might have been.
But the force driving these incidents islam, is anything but isolated.
The dots are getting closer and joining them together is becoming easier.
I find the self imposed censorship of the media insulting. Thank God for the internet.
