Of course. What could screaming “Allahu akbar” possibly have to do with Islam? He said after he killed Karlov: “We are those who have given a pledge of allegiance to Muhammad that we will carry on jihad.” What could that possibly have to do with Islam? For CNN, nothing. When the establishment propaganda media is determined to see no jihad, it doesn’t matter how high the evidence mounts that a particular attack was indeed motivated by Islam’s jihad doctrine. For CNN and its cohorts, the facts don’t matter. Only their spin does.
“The killing of Russia’s ambassador makes a bad situation much worse,” by Nic Robertson, CNN, December 19, 2016 (thanks to Satiria):
(CNN)Ambassador Andrey Karlov didn’t stand a chance. He didn’t even see the gunman coming.
Behind him, over his right shoulder, a man in a in suit and tie was pulling his pistol before pointing it in the air and shouting: “Allahu akbar (God is greatest). Do not forget Aleppo! Do not forget Syria! Do not forget Aleppo! Do not forget Syria!”…
At first glance the attack seems to have a religious motivation. The gunman shouted “Allahu Akbar”, but there is no guarantee he represents Muslims of any sort….

Mark A says
Perhaps CNN’s claim that “there is no guarantee [this gunman] represents Muslims of any sort” could be a reasonable argument.
But the shouts of “Allahu Akbar” and that one finger Islamist salute leave no doubt about this killer represented himself to be.
George says
Yes, the single index finger, “Only One God,” is a dead giveaway that the motive is religious. Those who comprehend the Koran and hadith know that shouting Allahu Akbar is said at the point because “it should be the last thing heard in the ear of the infidel.” before they are murdered, er, killed (PC version).

Soon Obama will be gone and the only POTUS to interview on any network will tell the US that he does “guarantee” that it was a jihad attack and that there is a tragically huge problem with it. Same as illegal immigrants selling drugs, assaulting, raping and killing people.

What it the point of this CNN article? A Turk, in the capital of Turkey, a Sunni nation, shoots and kills a foreign diplomat: Check. The shooter, goes off on a political and religious rant and apparently anticipates dying at the scene. Check. This is all consistent with the concept of jihad. Check.
And the question of the day is “Does he represent Muslims”?
Words fail me. Islam is divided into 2 major camps, Sunni and Shi’a, and there are at least 8 major schools of thought, plus minority or fringe groups. Sufi, dervish, Yazids, etc. etc. etc.
He obviously claimed to be acting as a Muslim, so does it make any difference which group of Muslims he was affiliated with? The ambassador is still dead, as is he.
For those who missed it, Islam is not monolithic, and you are looking at over 1 billion people who each believes he is a “true” Muslim. Live with it.

You are right. It was very stupid on Russia’s side not provide personal Russian security details to ambassador Karlov! Given the fact Turkey is the epicenter of the terrorists fighting In Syria and for the fact that Turkey has millions of jihadist sympathizers it was totally incomprehensible and even criminal that ambassador Karlov would not be given personal Russian security unit. Right now, Russia should provide trained security specialists to all its delegations in the Middle East and in the muslim world.

Right, almost forgot that, going by your narrative, there’s no Syrian national fighting against Assad whatsoever… Anyway, the top 5 contributors of foreign fighters to ISIS are Tunisia (6000), Saudi Arabia (2500), Russia (2400), Turkey (2100) and Jordan (2000). Shouldn’t that make Tunisia the epicentre of *foreign* terrorists fighting in Syria?
“and for the fact that Turkey has millions of jihadist sympathizers”
Like any other country with millions of muslims in it. Take, for example, Iran. Or even countries where muslims are a minority – RUssia has been facing a muslim insurgency since the 90’s.
“it was totally incomprehensible and even criminal that ambassador Karlov would not be given personal Russian security unit.”
If the Russian government was looking for a martyr to rally around, they stood to profit from his death. We’ll see how this plays out.

CNN is correct.
There’s no guarantee that he “represents Muslims of any sort”.
But, he DOES represent ISLAM.
Angemon says
No, that was the job his security detail should have done.
If only CNN were in the news business, they might have caught wind of the number of muslims worldwide that think the same way the killer thought…

Where can you go to get a guarantee about islam, moslems? Pres “o”, no. Pope Frank, no. CIA, no. Politicians, no. Academia, no. Media, no. Al Ahzar, maybe. Imams, depends. Jihad Watch. yeah. Robert Spencer, yeah. Commenters on JW, yeah, oh yeah.

I would say that blaming Muslims for terror, specifically the one who shot the Russian Ambassador, is wrong. It must have been one of the Sioux tribe from Oklahoma. These people aren’t dumb, they are in the process of taking over the world.
