Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Egypt: Muslims bomb St. Mark’s Coptic Orthodox Cathedral in Cairo, murdering dozens

Dec 11, 2016 8:43 am By Robert Spencer

St Mark’s Cathedral is the “seat of Egypt’s Orthodox Christian church and home to the office of its spiritual leader, Pope Tawadros II.”

Muslim Brotherhood operatives have long hated Pope Tawadros and the Coptic Christians, blaming them for the toppling of the Muslim Brotherhood regime in 2013, and considering them kuffar harbi, infidels at war with Islam whose lives can, because of that war, be lawfully taken.

“The blast took place as a Sunday mass being held in the chapel was about to end and coincided with a national holiday in Egypt marking the birth of Islam’s Prophet Muhammad.”

The bomb seems to have been timed to maximize the carnage.

“St. Mark’s Coptic Orthodox Cathedral in Cairo bombed, killing dozens,” Associated Press, December 11, 2016:

CAIRO – A bombing at Egypt’s main Coptic Christian cathedral killed 25 people and wounded another 35 on Sunday, in one of the deadliest attacks carried out against the religious minority in recent memory.

The attack came two days after a bomb elsewhere in Cairo killed six policemen, an assault claimed by a shadowy group that authorities say is linked to the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood. Islamic militants have targeted Christians in the past, including a New Year’s Day bombing at a church in Alexandria in 2011 that killed at least 21 people.

Egypt’s official MENA news agency said an assailant lobbed a bomb into a chapel close to the outer wall of St Mark’s Cathedral, seat of Egypt’s Orthodox Christian church and home to the office of its spiritual leader, Pope Tawadros II. Egyptian state TV gave the casualty toll.

Witnesses said the explosion may have been caused by an explosive device planted inside the chapel. Conflicting accounts are common in the immediate aftermath of attacks.

The blast took place as a Sunday mass being held in the chapel was about to end and coincided with a national holiday in Egypt marking the birth of Islam’s Prophet Muhammad. Most of the victims are thought to be women and children.

An Associated Press reporter who arrived at the scene shortly after the blast saw blood-stained pews and shards of glass scattered across the chapel’s floor. Men and women wailed and cried outside….

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for Sunday’s attack.

Egypt has seen a wave of attacks by Islamic militants since the military overthrew President Mohammed Morsi, a freely elected leader who hailed from the Brotherhood, in 2013. Many of Morsi’s supporters blamed Christians for supporting the overthrow, and scores of churches and other Christian-owned properties in southern Egypt were ransacked that year….

We didnt support Mubarak but he seemed to maintain control over the Muslims. Seems that El Sisi cannot. I lived in Egypt during Mubaraks reign. Our US government should have supported the secularists during their protest at Cairo’s square. This could have been finished. But by our non-involvement and our governments refusal to recognize El Sisi Egypt is in this state.

Huh, you realize that Morsi has been ousted years ago, right? And why are you robbing the Egyptian people of their agency and excusing them of the consequences of their actions? Didn’t millions of Egyptians marched in the streets demanding Mubarak to resign?

      • Damocles Junior says

        Dec 11, 2016 at 8:14 pm

Yes, millions did march to get rid of Mubarak, why? Because he ruled with an iron fist, was friendly to the West, allowed the Coptic Orthodox Church to exist and kept extreme Islam under control.

The fact that millions marched against him would indicate that Muslims are not interested in being “Moderate”. It is quite obvious that most Muslims do in fact want to support a hard-line fundamentalist Islamic society, we ignore this at our peril especially when Obama tells us time and time again that Islam is the religion of peace and does not support terror.

The popular vote for Morsi again just shows that most Muslims simply want to live in and support a hard line Islamic society. I am certain many many Egyptian (and most other) Muslims.will be openly rejoicing and applauding this latest outrageous act of terror.

As I have posted previously, my first introduction to the real world of Islam was from a Christian Greek Egyptian family who had experienced the difficulties and persecution of life as Christians living in an Islamic nation. This was back in the early 1980s. This was also in the times when Australia was receiving it’s first influx of Muslims escaping the war in Lebanon. We were told that Islam was just like Christianity except they have another prophet.

As will be seen from time to time on JW our 2nd and 3rd generation Muslims are possibly one of Australia’s biggest crime and social problems.

I am glad FDR and Harry Truman did not think that “violence is not acceptable”. There are times when violence is not only acceptable, but required for survival. Do you mean to say violence is never acceptable; that violence is never ‘a card on the table’?

Is this a war or not? By time we realize that jihad is a war, it may be over and lost. What does “counterjihad” mean? Fighting without violence?

With respect, I’d be interested to hear if and when you think violence is acceptable.

          Dec 11, 2016 at 2:11 pm

As a soldier who has engaged in violence many times, I understand it is on the table. I’m strangely comfortable with it.
However, urging people to burn mosques is legally indefensible. Robert Spencer has repeatedly made it clear that vigilante action is not acceptable. Calling people to do violent acts against moslems and mosques is calling for terrorist acts – not what we want to do.
          Counterjihad must be waged legally.

I visited this church on one of my holidays, years ago. It was a beautiful and peaceful place in the middle of Cairo. I guess it is a few hundred years old, with a christian community connected with it, living peacefully amongst their islamic neighbours. They had nothing to do with the violence in their own country. The dream of living together is now finally completely shattered. This is a dark day, again.

      Dec 11, 2016 at 11:19 pm

This church is relatively new, Johan–it was consecrated in 1968–it is just built in a traditional style. The old church was seized by Muslim authorities and razed to build the Palace of Ma’ad al-Muizz Li-Deenillah. There were ancient churches on this spot, but they were destroyed by Muslim in the 13th century. Before St. Mark’s was built, this land was used as a Coptic cemetery.

Egypt was a predominantly Christian country before Islam forced its way in by violent jihad, subordinating the Christian inhabitants to second-class status as oppressed “dhimmies”, forced to pay jizya extortion tax.
The BBC masks this dire history.
“There were intermittent persecutions”, it says, “after Egypt became a Muslim country”.

In one of Mr Spencer’s earliest books, an anthology of scholarly essays by some formidable infidel minds, entitled “The Myth of Islamic Tolerance”, there is a long historical essay by Bat Yeor – herself a Jewish scholar of Egyptian Jewish background, she was born in Egypt – about the Copts and what they have endured at Muslim hands over the past 1300 years, more or less. It is called “A Christian Minority – The Copts in Egypt”.

It makes for deeply disturbing reading. Muslims have never missed an opportunity to hurt, bully, force-convert, extort and generally abuse the Copts in all sorts of ways, ranging from outright episodes of mass-murder, down to the small meannesses practised in daily life, such as shoving people into the gutter. It is an unrelenting account of just how absolutely horrible human beings can be to others… and specifically, how truly horrible ISlam is, in that it *sacralises*, commands, institutionalises such horrible behaviour, and *encourages* Muslims to feel completely entitled to treat large numbers of other humans like sh*t.

After one has read account after account after account of what Muslims do to subjugated and vulnerable indigenous non-Muslm people groups, one passes from grief and disbelief to white-hot searing *anger* and deep disgust. One becomes convinced, coldly convinced, that Islam is one of the most evil, if not indeed *the* most evil, belief systeme that sinful humans have devised in order to legitimate and apotheosise and sate their own depraved lusts.

Two days later the egregious Clive Myrie did mention it, referring to it as “a disaster”.

The True GOD very clearly condemns murder in His Sixth Commandment,Thou shalt not kill.
But mahomet we see disagrees with GOD in k2:191 “slay the unbeliever”.

A muslim has a choice to make if he is thinking of doing evil.

    He can either…
I)Follow God’s Commandment(the right moral choice)and refrain from doing evil

    OR

    II)Follow mahomet’s teaching(the wrong moral choice)and commit evil.

Now if he ignores God’s prohibition on murder he will be judged to be an enemy of God and he will be condemned.
If he accepts God’s commandment and renounces murder he will have to accept however that mahomet’s teachings violating the Sixth Commandment are wrong.
So when these islamic murderers are killing people they imagines that their koranic “allah” is on their side.
But God does not encourage evil or the breaking of His Commandments.
The koranic “allah” is at odds with the Biblical Judeo-Christian GOD.
“allah” is OK with murder:GOD isn’t.
    “allah” is NOT GOD.

If you are on Social Media; subscribe to their site and newsfeeds, and you will be kept up to date on everything – *I* knew about this bombing the moment it occurred.

Also, the Aussie Copts have in the past organised consciousness-raising rallies. Let’s keep an eye out and if they hold a rally in Sydney or Melbourne in connection with this event – and I think they *should* be pressing the Aussie Government to 1/ offer humanitarian visas to Copts who have just had enough and can’t endure Egypt a moment longer 2/ DENY all access to Australia , to *Muslims* from Egypt – NO MUSLIM IMMIGRANTS FROM EGYPT (or anywhere else), and 3/ apply all available leverage to pin Sisi to the wall and demand *real* protection – not empty words – for Copts in Egypt. And if Australia gives any ‘aid’ to Egypt at all… we should stop.

Further thought: Barnabas Fund works with persecuted Christians in all places where Muslims are attacking them. I would assume they work with Copts.

One of the best gifts we can give our persecuted Infidel brethren this Christmas, is to donate to Barnabas Fund so *they* can assist the bereaved and the injured… and so that they can engage in advocacy, pressing our western governments of supposedly mostly-Christian nations, to step up and apply pressure to governments such as Al-Sisi’s in Egypt, calling them out on their acquiescence in the Muslim abuse of and attacks upon non-Muslims… and imposing *consequences* such as the curtailment or outright cessation of ‘aid’ and trade.

In 641 when the Caliph Omar conquered Egypt, many of the Coptic leaders of the time were pretty happy about it due to theological disputes with the Catholic Church, which at the time included the now Orthodox of the Constantinopñe Patriarchate. These days, many dumb Westerners are paving the way for an Islamic takeover of Europe. Surely there is a lesson to be learned from the experience of the Copts, who have now been dhimmis for almost 1400 years.

“Following the Prayer Vigil, HG Bishop Daniel and the Reverend Fathers will accept condolences for the Martyrs of the Coptic Orthodox Church from 7:00-9:00 pm.
“Then together with the congregation HG Bishop Daniel and the Reverend Fathers will pray the midnight prayers and tasbeha from 9:00 – 11:00 pm.
“Your participation is very much appreciated.
    Thank you
    “Please pray for us

Coptic Orthodox diocese of Sydney & Affiliated Regions”

If you can possibly manage to be there – even if you identify as atheist, or are Jewish, Hindu or Buddhist – then: be there. Show solidarity with our suffering fellow infidels. Hug the Copts and let them know you know what is happening. The larger and broader the attendance by persons who are not Copts but, rather, average Aussies of all stripes, the louder will be the message sent to our Aussie authorities, a message indicating that they ought to apply whatever pressure they can, to the Egyptian government… and also, a message indicating that we are more than willing to offer asylum to *Copts* who want to leave Egypt, and that we would *much rather* admit Copts, than their Muslim persecutors, oppressors and murderers.

This event should be *packed out*. The Copts there should be outnumbered ten to one by their supporters, by fellow Infidels offering condolences and encouragement.
