It has long been obvious that Facebook is no friend of the freedom of speech, and is especially tough on foes of jihad terror and the massive Muslim migrant influx into the West, and so it was perhaps inevitable that this would happen: yesterday when I went to sign in to Facebook, I received a notice saying I would have to verify my identity “because it looks like you may have multiple accounts or may not be using your authentic identity.” I actually don’t have multiple accounts and am using my authentic identity, and I know other people who have gotten this notice and got right back in to Facebook by supplying them with a government-issued ID, so initially I didn’t think much was amiss. I sent them a scan of my driver’s license, only to receive another notice by email: “We’ve asked you to verify your identify because it looks like you may have multiple accounts or may not be using your authentic identity. If you’ve already tried to log in to Facebook and followed the instructions, but weren’t able to verify your identity, please reply to this email and attach an image of your government-issued photo ID to the message.”
So I sent them my driver’s license again, but received no reply. I have now sent them my driver’s license three times, and have received no further word from Facebook. 36 hours have passed, and so it is increasingly clear that this suspicion that I “may have multiple accounts” or may not be using my “authentic identity” was just a smokescreen. There is abundant reason to think so. Back in September 2015, German Chancellor Angela Merkel confronted Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg, demanding that he censor Facebook posts opposing the Muslim migrant inundation; he agreed to do so, and indeed began doing so. Facebook has teamed up with the EU to stamp out “hate speech,” which doesn’t include death threats made to foes of jihad terror. Facebook blocked Michael Savage for posting on Muslim migrant crime; it banned a gay magazine that was critical of Islam; it temporarily removed our SIOA page right after the Orlando jihad massacre;
Facebook is so thoroughly corrupt and compromised that it has been sued by the families of jihad victims for giving jihadis a platform, and even was admonished by a U.S. Federal Court of its “moral obligation” to contain jihadist rhetoric. But it has been authorized by the Obama regime to censor “anti-Islam” speech. That’s why I think it unlikely that I will be allowed back in. Right now Jihad Watch posts are still going up automatically on the Jihad Watch Facebook page and the Robert Spencer Author Facebook page, but I don’t know how long that will last. (UPDATE: I’m told my personal page has been taken down.)
Many will say to me that I should just forget about Facebook, as it is so obviously a tool of the corrupt establishment. That is beyond dispute. The problem is that it is so widely used as to be at this point an indispensable platform. I hope that will change in the future, but right now the majority of Jihad Watch’s reader traffic comes from Facebook; if Facebook is closed off to us permanently, it will seriously diminish our reach and influence — and that is, of course, the goal.
Please contact Facebook and ask them courteously and politely that I be reinstated. (I would give you the contact info for Facebook customer support or whatever may be more pertinent, but I can’t get in to Facebook to get it.) And please help us keep getting the truth out about the nature and magnitude of the jihad threat, telling truths the mainstream media dares not tell and establishment politicians dare not admit. Please consider a year-old donation to Jihad Watch — via Paypal to email@example.com. Your donation is tax-deductible. These are dark times, but the tide is definitely turning, and that makes the Leftist self-appointed guardians of acceptable opinion, now threatened more than ever, more authoritarian than ever. We have to stand firm and stand fast, and never give up.
