In the nasty little totalitarian state that is Los Angeles (and anywhere that the Leftist intelligentsia reigns supreme), diversity of all sorts is encouraged except diversity of thought. And so the idea that a “Trump fanatic” could be co-hosting a radio show is absolutely unacceptable, much less one who says that “the Koran is a political tract.”
But it is always useful to measure the statements of anti-free speech totalitarians against the facts. Is the Qur’an a political tract? Let’s see. It commands Muslims: “Fight those who believe not in Allah and the Last Day and do not forbid what Allah and His Messenger have forbidden, and do not practice the religion of truth, even if they are of the People of the Book — until they pay the jizya with willing submission and feel themselves subdued.”
Is that a political statement? Many Islamic authorities think so. The Pakistani politician and Islamic scholar Maulana Maududi. Maududi wrote in his commentary on Qur’an 9:29: “The purpose for which Muslims are required to fight is not, as one might think, to compel the unbelievers into embracing Islam. Rather, its purpose is to put an end to the suzerainty of the unbelievers so that the latter are unable to rule over people. The authority to rule should only be vested in those who follow the True Faith; unbelievers who do not follow this True Faith should live in a state of subordination. Anybody who becomes convinced of the Truth of Islam may accept the faith of his/her own volition. The unbelievers are required to pay jizyah (poll tax) in return for the security provided to them as the dhimmis (“Protected People”) of an Islamic state. Jizyah symbolizes the submission of the unbelievers to the suzerainty of Islam.”
Majid Khadduri was an Iraqi scholar of Islamic law of international renown. In his book War and Peace in the Law of Islam, which was published in 1955 and remains one of the most lucid and illuminating works on the subject, Khadduri says this about jihad:
The state which is regarded as the instrument for universalizing a certain religion must perforce be an ever expanding state. The Islamic state, whose principal function was to put God’s law into practice, sought to establish Islam as the dominant reigning ideology over the entire world….The jihad was therefore employed as an instrument for both the universalization of religion and the establishment of an imperial world state. (P. 51)
Imran Ahsan Khan Nyazee, Assistant Professor on the Faculty of Shari’ah and Law of the International Islamic University in Islamabad. In his 1994 book The Methodology of Ijtihad, he quotes the twelfth century Maliki jurist Ibn Rushd: “Muslim jurists agreed that the purpose of fighting with the People of the Book…is one of two things: it is either their conversion to Islam or the payment of jizyah.” Nyazee concludes: “This leaves no doubt that the primary goal of the Muslim community, in the eyes of its jurists, is to spread the word of Allah through jihad, and the option of poll-tax [jizya] is to be exercised only after subjugation” of non-Muslims.
A Shafi’i manual of Islamic law endorsed by the most prestigious institution in Sunni Islam, Al-Azhar University in Cairo? It says that the leader of the Muslims “makes war upon Jews, Christians, and Zoroastrians…until they become Muslim or else pay the non-Muslim poll tax,” and cites Koran 9:29 in support of this idea: “Fight those who do not believe in Allah and the Last Day and who forbid not what Allah and His messenger have forbidden-who do not practice the religion of truth, being of those who have been given the Book-until they pay the poll tax out of hand and are humbled.” (‘Umdat al-Salik o9.8)
Iran’s former President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has said, “Have no doubt… Allah willing, Islam will conquer what? It will conquer all the mountain tops of the world.”
Omar Ahmad, the cofounder and longtime Board chairman of the influential Hamas-linked Muslim Brotherhood front group known as the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), has said that “Islam isn’t in America to be equal to any other faith, but to become dominant. The Koran should be the highest authority in America, and Islam the only accepted religion on earth.”
“Jihad, holy fighting in Allah’s course, with full force of numbers and weaponry, is given the utmost importance in Islam….By jihad, Islam is established….By abandoning jihad, may Allah protect us from that, Islam is destroyed, and Muslims go into inferior position, their honor is lost, their lands are stolen, their rule and authority vanish. Jihad is an obligation and duty in Islam on every Muslim.” — Times Square car bomb terrorist Faisal Shahzad
“‘Brady Bunch’ star Susan Olsen fired after reported homophobic rant,” Fox News, December 12, 2016:
A Los Angeles radio station says former “Brady Bunch” star Susan Olsen has been fired after she got into an online confrontation with openly gay actor Leon Acord-Whiting.
LA Talk Radio announced on Friday that it had severed ties with Olsen.
“LA Talk Radio takes pride in its close and collaborative relationship with the LGBT community, and will continue to provide a home for those who have hopeful and positive messages of togetherness and tolerance to share with our listeners,” the station wrote in a statement on Facebook. “We will not tolerate hateful speech by anyone associated with our radio station and have severed our ties with a host that veered off the direction in which we are going.”
Acord-Whiting, who starred in the YouTube series “Old Dogs & New Tricks,” criticized Olsen on Facebook after her was a guest on her show “Two Chicks Talkin’ Politics.”
He accused the 55-year-old former child star of being “dangerous” and “unprofessional.”..
Acord-Witing wrote on his Facebook page of the incident and its aftermath: “Getting fired is never a happy event, even when the person deserves it. This is less a victory, more a badly needed course correction. I can’t express enough my appreciation for everyone’s support the past few days. I merely sounded the alarm.”
