Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Indonesia: 150,000 Muslims demand arrest of Christian governor for “blasphemy”

Dec 2, 2016 9:13 am By Robert Spencer

This is the second round of protests against Ahok; earlier protests turned violent in “moderate” Indonesia.

When have we ever seen Muslims in these numbers protesting against the jihad terrorism that has supposedly “hijacked” their religion?

“Widodo Appeals for Calm at Second Jakarta Protest Against Ally,” by Karlis Salna, Yudith Ho and Rieka Rahadiana, Bloomberg, December 1, 2016 (thanks to David):

Indonesian President Joko Widodo sought to ease tension in the world’s most populous Muslim nation by appearing at a rally of more than 150,000 people seeking to jail Jakarta’s Christian governor, an ally of his, over blasphemy allegations.

The president, also known as Jokowi, along with his deputy Jusuf Kalla, joined the mass gathering for Friday prayers around the National Monument in Jakarta and appealed for calm. The police detained about 10 activists ahead of the protest, including eight on alleged treason charges, Rikwanto, a national police spokesman, said in a televised address.

Widodo’s surprise appearance at the rally signaled a willingness to challenge conservative Muslim groups ahead of the governor’s election in February. Authorities deployed 22,000 soldiers and police to keep order after a similar protest last month turned violent. Foreign embassies including the U.S. had warned of the potential for extremists to use the demonstration as cover to incite violence.

“It actually makes Jokowi look more like the quiet, strong leader that everyone was hoping he would be,” said Greg Barton, research professor in global Islamic politics at the Alfred Deakin Institute in Melbourne. “By actually coming out on the front foot this time, privately shoring up support and publicly coming out and putting it on display, I think it actually strengthens his presidency.”

Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, a political ally of the president and who is locked in a three-way battle to retain his governorship, has been accused of blasphemy for comments in which he warned that voters were being deceived by people trying to use Koranic verses to say that Muslims were not permitted to support a Christian leader. Authorities confirmed this week that the case would proceed to trial, possibly within weeks.

Purnama, known as Ahok, who has denied the charges, faces up to five years in prison if convicted under Indonesia’s blasphemy laws. Authorities have so far resisted calls to arrest him, although he has been banned from leaving the country. Observers have warned that the case risks emboldening extremists in Indonesia, which prides itself on its secularism, as well as being the world’s most populous Muslim-majority nation.

A live broadcast of the rally on TVOne showed protesters occupying the square at the National Monument as well as a roundabout near the monument and the central bank, some chanting, “Arrest, arrest, arrest Ahok.”

After prayers, Widodo told the crowd: “Let’s all now go home peacefully!” and shouted “God is great!” three times. While some responded “Arrest Ahok now!” much of the crowd soon dispersed….

This is a perfect example of the division of Islam, even in the Koran itself.

There were two phase of Mohammad’s life, time spent in Mecca, and later years in Medina. The “peaceful” verses come from the 13 Mecca years, and one frequently quoted to try and prove that Islam is a religion of peace is the quote that there should be no “compulsion” regarding religion.

Unfortunately, the Medina years ginned up the promotion of Jihad, as Mohammad became a base warlord. In Islam, later verses always supercede the earlier ones, effectively cancelling out any that are in conflict.

What we see in Indonesia is textbook Islam, insisting that there should indeed be a compulsion for all who refuse to bow the knee to Allah to be persecuted and forced to obey.

On the one hand, many in Islam falsely claim it to be a religion of peace. However, actions speak louder that empty words, and the actions of the followers of Islam are clear.

Any form of rape, violence, rebellion, murder, hatred of women, children, and non-Muslims (especially Christians and Jews), pedophelia, and child marriages/rape are acceptable in the pursuit of the holy warfare of Jihad. Lies and deception are also perfectly acceptable to Allah, who is called the greatest of deceivers by his own followers.

There is NO peaceful version of Islam, and there are no exceptions.

      @IbrahimItace

This governor in fact is a very brave man because he was challenging a very RACIST Quranic Interpretation of Al-Maidah 51 about Prohibiting Non-Muslim to be leader over muslims.

I think you even with your ISLAMOFASCIST brain should have agreed this Interpretation is UTTERLY RACIST/ FASCIST.

Unfortunately for this governor according to the so-called MODERATE Islamic Indonesian Council The MUI Organization (which is the OFFICIAL LEGITIMATE REPRESENTATIVE OF INDONESIAN MUSLIMS) , the most ACCURATE and ACCEPTED interpretation of Al-Maidah 51 is truly about PROHIBITING NON-MUSLIMS TO BE LEADER OVER MUSLIMS BECAUSE NO NON-MUSLIMS DESERVES TO BE LEADER IN GOD’S .EYES.

And since this governor has challenged the Official interpretation of Al-Maidah 51 then he should be imprisoned… GREAT! being imprisonment for vocally standing against DISCRIMINATION .

        Dec 2, 2016 at 10:57 pm

That there is a an interpretation of a Qur’anic verse that Infidels may not hold positions of authority over Muslims, which is quite accurate.

        Dec 2, 2016 at 11:18 pm

I can’t quote verbatim but what he actually said was that some people lie using Koran 5:51 to discourage people voting for him in upcoming governor of Jakarta election. The ayat is talking about not choosing Jews and Christians as friends or protector.

        • Connor McGregor says

          Dec 3, 2016 at 4:41 am

Yes, the interpretation about Prohibiting Non-Muslims to be Leader over muslims is The Most Accurate according to the MUI ( Indonesian Islamic Council) the Most Official and Legitimate Representative of the Majority of Indonesian Muslims.

Of course we all know this interpretation is UTTERLY RACIST/FASCIST to the core, and the governor was just taking stand against this interpretation , the most funny and ironic thing is in fact this governor was trying to promote the ‘genuine’ moderate / liberal muslims by implying that the true interpretation should be the ‘moderate interpretation’ and the official interpretation is non-sense/ a lie

Unfortunately not only factually the genuine moderate muslims of Indonesia are just SMALL MINORITY yet worst only few dare to defend the governor because even the ‘moderate’ realize that the most accurate and official interpretation of Al-Maidah 51 is certainly about prohibiting non-muslims for being leader over muslims.

Another careful lesson should be taken here considering Indonesia is the forefront poster boy for world’s moderate muslims , this means to the majority of this so-called MODERATE Muslims it’s their sacred religious obligation to prevent non-muslims from being leader over muslims whenever muslims are the Majority while when Muslims are the MINORITY it’s also their sacred religious obligation to ‘secretly’ seek every possible way to OVERTHROW the non-muslims government along with REPLACING INFIDEL CONSTITUTION with SHARIA through peaceful or violent way.

Because again according to the most accurate interpretation of Al-Maidah :51 by the most MODERATE & TOLERANT muslims people in the world i.e Indonesia , “NO NON-MUSLIM DESERVES TO BE LEADER IN THE SIGHT OF ALLAH” and this ordinance is DIVINE.

Ahok was a lieutenant governor when Jokowi was the governor of Jakarta. He became governor when Jokowi was elected president in 2014. So, the Muslims did not vote for him to power. He did not insult Islam. He only said that Muslim voters were being deceived by people trying to use Koranic verses to say that Muslims were not permitted to support a Christian leader. Many people do not like Ahok because he eliminated corruption in the government. He demolished makeshift houses and built stylish buildings. He is very popular in Jakarta among secular Muslims and non-Muslims. Jakarta has seen so much progress under his leadership. Unfortunately, the radical Muslims hates him and always finds something to get him out of office.

The “devout” Muslims in Indonesia don’t want to be lead by Christian governor, yet they will waste no time to come to Christian countries (Australia, Canada, the US, Germany, the UK, France, Italy, etc) if they were given the opportunity to do so.

My question to devout Muslims who live in the non-Muslim/Christian countries: Why wearing hijab and pray 5 times a day as prescribed in the Quran but live under the leadership of Christians which is not permitted by Muhammad your prophet?

All he did was note–quite accurately–that some Muslims consider it un-Islamic for Infidels such as himself to hold any position of power.

These rioting Mohammeds, far from disagreeing with this interpretation, show that they agree. They not only want this governor removed from power, but to see him charged with “blasphemy”. Just sickening.

The president was not just appearing but also JOINED the RADICAL MASS, why I’m saying it as RADICAL MASS? because the mass was initiated by FPI the notorious but influential radical organization sort of Ku Klux Klan version of Islam that is very famous for their violent acts throughout Indonesia

    This is just an OVERSTATED rubbish comment out of a Leftist Western Professor , what this Indonesian President had done in fact was giving gesture that Indonesia is leaning more toward Islamic Radicalism, because not only the president appear and JOINED the radical rally yet furthermore the President with his VP along with his key Staffs such as Highest rank in military , security and Police Department SAT and LISTENED to the Radical Preaching of the Radical Imam the Head of FPI. { They later sat inside a tent erected beside the stage to hear the Friday prayer sermon delivered by Islam Defenders Front (FPI) chairman Rizieq Shihab Ref: http://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2016/12/02/jokowi-kalla-center-stage-at-muslim-rally.html }

    .
Even Obama would not so extremely foolish to do such thing !!!

There is nothing fallacious about calling Muhammad a brigand, a child molester, and a killer if Islam informs us that he was so.

It’s by the way that Islam must confront a dilemma: You would agree, I’m sure, that the god is either mortal or immortal, but you might not have considered the implication of each option. Now, if the god is mortal, then there is scant reason to call it akbar. It would be basically like humans, apes, pigs, and dogs, all of which are subject to death. If, on the other hand, the god is immortal, then it must be true that the law of the god’s immortality is greater than the god. In fact, the god would be the unconditional prisoner of the law; its willpower could never be great enough to overcome that law. So, here, too there is no good reason to repeat “allāhu akbar” ad nauseum. We should insist, instead, that the law is akbar, and of course we should devote ourselves to understanding the impersonal law thoroughly. What is greater in status deserves to be held in higher esteem and studied with greater devotion.

So, which is it? Immortal or not? If immortal, then the law is greater. If mortal, then the god isn’t so great at all, which is just what we suspected.

      ……………………….

This is so illiterate it is impossible to know what this Mohammedan is even trying to say. The only thing that *is* clear is that this Muslim thug condones barbaric “blasphemy” laws.

      More:
christians (sic) should take such sensitivities into consideration while commenting on islam (sic).
      ……………………….

Rioting in the streets and calling for a peaceful man’s murder is not “sensitivity”–instead, it is Muslim savagery. Really, the only mistake this governor made was to assume that Islam was more civilized than it is, by his saying that some Muslims interpreted this Qur’anic passage to mean that no Infidel could hold a position of authority–rather than it being *most* of them. But he said nothing either inaccurate or even critical, in any case.

      More:

tolerance means allowing others to practice what they believe is right, not (sic) mere condemnation.
      ……………………….

This governor said nothing condemning Islam or Muslims. Moreover, nothing he said would prevent Muslims from practicing Islam in Muslim-majority Indonesia.

Note that muhammed characterizes this Christian as being intolerant when he noted that some Muslims might interpret this Qur’anic verse in a certain manner–proven by this response, in fact–but does not consider rioting in the street and calling for his murder to be in any way intolerant.

The Muslim view of “tolerance”, in a nutshell…

      More:

i don’t know if it is an article of christian (sic) faith to insult prophet muhammad (sic) to propagate their religion.
      ……………………….

Actually, this governor never said anything insulting about the “Prophet”.

      More:

muslims (sic) never insult jesus (sic) or any christian personality for them to show that christianity (sic) is wrong.
      ……………………….

Good lord, what claptrap. Muslims do not just criticize Christians for daring to regard Jesus as the Son of God, they frequently *slaughter* them for it.

What muhammed means is that Muslims do not criticize the Muslim “Jesus”–really, “Isa”–whose role in the Muslim last days is to *mass murder Christians*.

      More:

christians (sic) should do the same.insulting (sic) a religious personality is an adhominim (sic) fallacy.
      ……………………….

Actually, it is not. To criticize the vicious “Prophet” of Islam for having been a warlord, a pedophile, a slaver, a rapist, and a mass murderer is quite moral. It is defending such an appalling figure that is morally repulsive.

      More:

let (sic) christians (sic) show us where islam (sic) went wrong instead of ssuch (sic) childish atitude (sic) of insults.insults (sic) will never promote christianity (sic) or kill islam (sic).
      ……………………….

Will muhammed offer a moral defense of the evil of his foul “Prophet”? Does he condone child rape? Does he believe Infidels should be taken as sex slaves?

Does he think that this governor should be murdered for saying that Islam might be civilized? Let’s wait and see…

Indonesians until now have been implementing PARTIAL democracy where in some small parts of their country they uphold democracy ENOUGH to impress the international community while on the rest larger parts they suppress the religious minorities.

They have been doing this out of fear for being economically excluded from western economic powers so again we always see Indonesia in ambiguous position , allowing a non-muslim governor to be appointed over Jakarta while at the same time nurturing and widely spreading radical islam to be ‘happily’ flourish all over Indonesia.

Half-Hearted Democracy out of fear for being economically excluded is basically a fake democracy because it’s implemented insincerely and not based on conscious desire to uphold basic human right.
