Back in June, the Islamic State threatened to destroy the Pyramids. And in July 2015, the Islamic State’s caliph Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi said that destroying the monuments was a “religious duty.”
“Cairo blast near pyramids kills 6 Egyptian police,” Associated Press, December 9, 2016:
CAIRO — An explosion on a main Cairo thoroughfare killed six police and wounded another three on Friday, in what appeared to be the deadliest attack on security forces in several months.
The state-run MENA news agency said the explosion took place near a mosque on Pyramids road, the main avenue leading from the city center out to the Giza pyramids, which is often used by tour buses. It says the blast targeted security forces, without elaborating on what caused the explosion.
Insurgents have carried out a number of attacks in Egypt since the 2013 military ouster of an elected Islamist president. The violence has been concentrated in the northern Sinai Peninsula, but there have also been several attacks on the mainland, including in the capital.
An AP reporter at the scene said the bombing appeared to have targeted two police SUVs parked along the road at a mobile checkpoint. The explosion completely destroyed one of the vehicles and severely damaged the other. Dozens of people gathered at the scene as police cordoned off the area….

Walter Sieruk says
Many times the jihadist members of different Islamic terror entities have gathered together and chanted the words “We love death, they love life.” Likewise those jihadist/Muslims don’t stop with those awful words; they carry through with jihad suicide/homicide attacks. Any sane person would ask “Why do those jihad –minded Muslims have such a mindset of murderous madness?” The answer is that they obtain the way of thinking and believing from the “holy book” of Islam, the Koran. As some people call it the Qu ‘ran. For example the Koran in Sura 9:111 instructs “The believers fight in Allah’s Cause, they slay and are slain, they kill and are killed.” Therefore it may be conclude that Islam is actually a death cult. In great and wonderful contrast to the death cult which is Islam there is Christianity which is centered on Jesus and His teachings. For Jesus did not teach killing and death but taught and gave life, a good peaceful well lived life and more. For example Jesus declared “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” John 10:10. [K.J.V.]

Egypt is a raw sewage and a cesspool called a country. Their tourism is down to ….s..Wait until they bomb the pyramids. m
Kay says
So sad. Because I know there are still beleaguered Christians there as well as amazing church structures.
miriamrove says
It is not sad, rather muslims are so pathetic and backwards. In Iran where I come from we the most beautiful churches on the planet and some are as old as 1500 years. Yet the savage ayatollahs on Sundays dispatch police to churches to make sure muslims dont go in on Sundays. m
Kay says
I had been following a church on Instagram, iranchurch, that had beautiful personal postings. But it has since been replaced by a very public, almost touristy site. I keep praying for the original group, not knowing what happened to them.
(I meant it is sad for the Christians.
But I assume you mean the police are keeping people from learning and worshipping, not that they are protecting the church from violence; that is terrible. And yet Jesus can go through walls. Pray that He enters every home where people had wanted to go to a church.)

I hope they do not bomb the pyramids, but if they do, the intellectual “arts community” on the Left will be more upset about that than the destruction of human life that ISIS carries out. I love art too, but to some on the Left, it is a sacred cow. ISIS is a created entity, and the seeds go back a long way, with recent players being Hillary Clinton, Obama, George Soros, and Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, among others. The root cause of ISIS is greed, of money and power.

Miriam R, I assume you are talking about the public toilets near the pyramids? Absolutely unbelievably filthy.
As for the deliberate destruction of the pyramids, it has already been attempted, the outer marble casing was used to build at least one Cairo mosque. They also tried to dig into the side of the largest pyramid basically to see what was inside. (Just more rock)
Fortunately the Egyptian antiquities authorities do employ reasonably well educated staff and the nations treasury officials know that Egypt depends on tourist dollars, absolutely. BUT, if the fundamentalists and the Islamists were to take over, their blind hate would destroy everything, churches, antiquities and the tourist trade. This is why I could never understand why Obama and others were so supportive of the so called “Arab Spring”
Note also, it was a Greek Egyptian family who first alerted me to what Islam is all about, they had lived and suffered under it. Until that time, this was back in the early 80s, I just went along with the party line that Islam was quite OK, even a bit like Christianity except they have an additional prophet, in other words, nothing to worry about folks! (And voters)

Unfair to Egypt. Egyptians are generally warm and welcoming and go out of their way to welcome tourists and show them the country. The loss of their tourist industry has been a disaster for this struggling country.
The awful incursion of terrorists was happening at least 25 years ago, (I have been wintering there for years) and is mainly due to the huge birthrate, good education for all which means that few wish to labour on smallholdings like their parents but there are no jobs for them in the cities and towns. Therefore this led to the springing up of the terrorist training camps which we all seemed to know about long before our Foreign Office. These give the unemployed young men a purpose in life and self esteem, allied with the spurious glory of religious purpose. This is why they gained such a foothold.
Traqic and wrong, but blame the massive and unsustainable increase in birthrate – Islam again.
Damocles Junior says
Hello Anne, I do agree with you regarding your general comments on Egypt, you have also mentioned that other inconvenient truth which is behind a lot of this, the 3rd worlds unsustainable population increase. Unemployed and unemployable youth are a very fertile recruiting ground for every terror organisation.

@Kay: yes. they are afraid that muslims are going to convert. m

6 more dead. The families of the fallen don’t really give a shit about the pyramids right now.
Bunch of mumbo jumbo cocka maney Bs anyway. Sure a feat of engineering and an interesting ancient culture and all that and the pyramids served a mysterious purpose, yeah cool. Ok can we get rid of the aholes now? They tear down everything they can in an attempt to erase human history starting with living people.

Yes, fundamentalist Islamists really have no place in a civilised nation. I think it is back to the camels and goats for those barbarians.
Angemon says
Oh, look at that spin – no mention whatsoever of the many millions of Egyptians who marched in the streets and demanded Morsi gone, or that the current President was *elected*. No, if I had to guess how Egypt was doing based only on what is written there, I’d think it was run by an unelected military board who took power by force.

When I went to Egypt, it turned out differently between the Egyptian police and the jihad murderers. This is because one day I was walking among some Christians who had been murdered by animals in Rome and I looked up at God and said, “This must make you feel like having your own beast”. As a result, God started giving me a lot of details about politicians and other people who were suddenly dying out there. God repeatedly showed He knew better than anyone else when people were being killed. This helps fulfill Joel 2.30, which is a biblical maneuver against murderers in the world. This scripture is there to show that God saw their murderous deed and they will not get away with it. Then I felt emboldened as I had God in a box since I knew scripture better than others and therefore God could not let me die as easily as a tourist so I went to Egypt. I went to Luxor, where a lot of Swiss tourists were murdered. I kept praying to God to send someone to try to murder the Nazarite. Egyptian women would exclaim ‘Oh my God’ when they looked into my eyes and saw the intensity there. I kept telling all I was an American to help bait the hook so an attacker would come. Then a voice said,”Someone will come try to kill you tomorrow”. The Holy Spirit was right as the next day a guy with a penitentiary face started to come at me with a knife behind his back in the street. A policeman on a motorbike was watching and came racing over with his shotgun drawn. The offender ran, whimpering and shrieking for his life. Then, I got sick of Egypt and went to Prague. Prague was amazing too. For 3 days in a row locals who wanted to lay with a yankee that very day approached me. Undoubtedly Prague is a better place to travel these days than Egypt.
