One might almost get the idea that Wilders had a point. But that would be “Islamophobic.”
“BREAKING: Suspected terrorist in Rotterdam arrested with loaded AK-47 and ISIS flag,” by Tom Batchelor, Express, December 9, 2016:
A TERROR suspect in Rotterdam has been arrested after being found with a loaded AK-47 and ISIS flag.
The suspect was detained with a Kalashnikov rifle, two full rounds of ammunition and a black and white flag of the notorious terror group….
Dutch prosecutors said in a statement this afternoon that he was suspected of planning a terror attack without giving details of the intended target….

First of all telling the truth is not hate speech. Even if it is, nice speech is nice speech. NYC is great. No one is going to object to it. It is hate and offensive speech that needs protection and this is why we have the best system on the planet. We almost lost that too. But now that Trump is in I feel a lot better. m
Angemon says
Indeed.

Exactly, miriam.

Speech is speech, weapons and ISIS flags and plots to kill innocent people… The Dutch better lay off the beer, and face the facts!!! Those pig savages are there to KILL YOU!!! If you do not like what the truth is maybe you prefer to be dead……..Then you do not have to listen…………
Kay says
How is the media in the Netherlands? Will the local citizens hear about this?
miriamrove says
I have been there many times. Pretty much like here. If a muslim is attacked there the media gets hysterical, but him getting convicted there is going to be hardly aired. m
Ernie says
Yes , it was on the news Kay .
EyeSurgeon says
“Two full rounds of ammunition”? Really planning an extensive bloodbath, with two bullets. Perhaps they meant 2 full magazines???
Bill says
The media hates firearms but, on the whole, is almost completely ignorant on how they work, the differences in types and know even less about ammunition.
August West says
I assume they mean 2 full mags which would probably be a total of 60 rounds.
You can pick up 1000 rounds of cheap Russian steel case ak 47 ammo in the us for about $220. 30 round mags about $20.
Rob says
Two “full rounds”… It’s like most topics. Journalists don’t bother to learn anything about the subjects they cover. Journalisms as we knew it (accurate, truthful reporting) is dead; and even the editors don’t care, as long as the sales are good.
We need a new newspaper group with integrity, and with properly-trained- and well-vetted journalists. It’s the same for the TV- and radio news…
I recall a CNN radio reporter in the eighty’s (I think it was Connie Chung), when discussing the great white shark (actually the blue pointer, re-named for effect), referring to them as “these large mammals”…
CNN issued no correction

Problem is that even if he is elected next year would the Dutch or the EU allow him to take power. The EU is not democratic which is why the Brits are leaving. It would have been interesting if the Austrian ‘right-wing leader’ had been elected.

I was holding thumbs for the ‘right-wing’ Austrian. Will Mr Renzi’s defeat in Italy help at all?

People, we’re sinking. We’re sinking because we’re being far, far too nice. We’re being so heavily manipulated that we’re arresting and silencing our own to avoid offending our enemy. We’re either going to insist that our civilisation survives or we’re not. Currently, it looks as though we’re not.
Walter Sieruk says
An outlandishly false statement of extreme folly I saw for the first time on a tee-shirt a young man was wearing in the year 1974. Which had printed on it the saying “It doesn’t matter what you believe as long as your sincere.” That was statement of total falsehood and complete nonsense. For example, in the book entitled DEFYING ISIS by Johnnie Moore on page 30 it informs the reader about the jihadists who compose ISIS that “They sincerely believe they are doing justice by ridding the world of another generation of Christians, so they massacre them with pure joy.” In other words, the jihadist /Muslims of ISIS are sincere and thus believe and feel that they are “doing the right thing” by their brutal, cruel mass murder of Christians. Therefore, since the ISIS jihadists are sincere it followers, naturally, in their delusional Islamic mindset and worldview they actually “good intentions .” As strange, odd and ironic as this is. A semi-good way to explain this would is in history many Marxists had murdered many people to obtain the goal of the “greater good for a workers paradise.” In that aspect those murdering Marxists had “good intentions.” So in contrast to that foolishness and falsehood of folly false statement ,just sited above , is the tragic but true reality based statement .Which is that “The road to hell is paved with good intentions.”

Many commenters here have asked you to break up your dense prose. You don’t do what they request. You continue to publish material that is probably worth reading but is difficult to read in EXTREMIS (EXTREMIS is a Latin phrase meaning “in the farthest reaches” or “at the point of death”. I DO NOT READ what you post here any longer.
Here is what you need to do.
Write in paragraphs. An ideal paragraph is about 3-4 sentences and 6-7 lines in length. My first 4 lines consisting of 4 sentences is a PARAGRAPH. This is also a PARAGRAPH.
You beginning to get the picture dude?
You are wasting your time posting here if you continue with your dense prose. I doubt anybody reads what you write anymore.
Capische?

Who are you – some kind of gammer Natzi? No soup for you!
Champ says
“The road to hell is paved with good intentions.”
Great comment, Walter, but I must respectfully disagree. I don’t think that jihadists are capable of “good” intentions–only evil.
gravenimage says
Jihadists *are* wholly evil, Champ–but some who enable them are not.
There are nice people–including many Christians–who collect donations for “refugees”, and who stand out with “Welcome Migrants” signs, and who desperately want to believe that Muslims are all nice people.
These people are also paving that road to hell, but most of them are in such denial they don’t realize it.
Bob Smyth says
There is NO objective definition of what constitutes “hate speech”. As a result, “hate speech” has become CONFLATED with ANYTHING that anyone can claim makes them “feel offended”. Their “feelings” become the arbiter. Many Muslims are ‘at the front of the queue’ when complaining about “hurt feelings”. The Dutch judges that convicted Geert Wilders are supposed to be qualified lawyers that consider evidence based on ‘verifiable facts’. They have effectively made “stating verifiable facts” into “hate speech”, when those facts are ‘inconvenient’ for Muslims.
I hope Geert Wilders is able to appeal to a higher court and get this judgement over-ruled. These judges are a disgrace to their profession.
Bill says
“These judges are a disgrace to their profession”. Sorry, but I have to chuckle. They are truly practicing their “profession”, in fact I understand that their profession is is notoriously legal in Amsterdam.
gravenimage says
Yes–“hate speech” can always be used as a cudgel against any ideas that are unpopular or “politically incorrect”.
The only issues should be that the speech is not libelous–which it is not if factual–and that it does not call for violence. Apart from that, *any* speech should be allowed.
This is, of course, all the more appalling that Wilders’ is a Dutch patriot, fighting for his countrymen in warning about the Jihad threat.
Mark A says
Geert Wilders’ conviction is appalling but I think it will dramatically increase his popularity with the Dutch electorate.
gravenimage says
Hear, hear, Geert!

Interesting that he is speaking in English. I am so accustomed to watching his speeches in Dutch while reading the English subtitles that the first time I saw this particular video, it took a few minutes before I realized he was speaking English. He is speaking in English because this video is especially for us – we English speakers. He must have made a different one for his domestic audience, though this may be an English translation of that. It appears he is well aware he has a broad international audience, and a supportive one at that. No doubt, he feels encouraged in this respect after Brexit and Trump.
dsinc says
Brexit, Trump next Wilders and Le Pen. The list is growing.

“Dutch prosecutors said in a statement this afternoon that he was suspected of planning a terror attack without giving details of the intended target….”
They are so on to it those Dutch Prosecutors, you have to give them credit for mousing out the truth …..
Wilders is like Trump, they are the new generation of freedom fighters, but first they have to fight the bureaucrats, & the PC artists, lets hope before Europe is destroyed some others get the drift ….

we’re constantly told that this site has nothing to do with racism but when the time comes to condemn one of your own for clearly racist statement about Moroccans then things change.
Thats OK, no surprise Robert.
billybob says
Racism? There is no racism here..
Robert stated one line of text beyond the title about a Muslim being arrested…
“One might almost get the idea that Wilders had a point. But that would be ‘Islamophobic.'”
Now he didn’t say what “point” one might almost get the idea that Wilders had, but Wilders is well known to be against Islam. Come on – gimme a break. “Muslim” is not a colour! And “Islam” is not a race.
One might almost get the idea that Wilders had a point. But that would be “Islamophobic.”
billybob says
And “Moroccan” is not a race either.
Anne Smith says
Mr Wilders is a brave and courageous man – the Dutch are so lucky to have a man of his fortitude, clarity, vision, expression and stamina.
The freedom movement is on its way – eventually Europe will be free but the fight will be long and hard. Farage, Wilders, Le Pen, Hofer, giving the downtrodden cowed by PC a voice to speak out.
Go Wilders!!!!

Do you know how we got to this point ? When an honest politician can not say what they and their Electrit believe ?
When an honest elected official can state what they believe is a direct threat to their community, their city, their state , their country and is prosocuted for doing so..?
When an elected official can stand up in front of the world with the threat of death staring him in the face for doing so !!! And speak the truth..
When said politician can say what the whole world “already knows ” but are to big a coward to stand up to ..!!!
Where are our elected officials .???
Where are these people who swore to defend us in trying times to defend our right to freedom in all forms. To give a voice to our consern’s
Sir I applaud you to the nth degree.
