Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

NJ textbook: Effect of Crusades is that “Christians harsh treatment of Muslims continues”

Dec 22, 2016 5:35 pm By Robert Spencer

As I show in my book The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam (and the Crusades), the Crusades were a late, small-scale, defensive action after 450 years of Islamic jihad had conquered and Islamized over half of the Christian world. But the myth that the Crusades were unprovoked protocolonial aggression against a wholly innocent Muslim world persists, and has even made its way into public school textbooks, which have long been the object of efforts by Islamic supremacist groups to turn them into vehicles for proselytizing for Islam — as I detail in my book Stealth Jihad.

“School lesson says Christians are treating Muslims harshly,” by Todd Starnes, Fox News, December 22, 2016:

A classroom assignment on Islam says one negative effect of the Crusades is that Christians are still treating Muslims harshly.

“I almost fell over,” said Barbara Light.

Mrs. Light, of Westwood, New Jersey, was helping her 13-year-old daughter prepare for a World History test when she discovered some rather shocking lessons.

“The Christians’ harsh treatment of Muslims in the Holy Land led to bitterness that has lasted to the present,” one worksheet stated.

Another worksheet asks students to identify “one negative effect of the Crusades that has continued to the present.” The answer written on the worksheet – “the Christians harsh treatment of Muslims continues in the present day.”

“In this day and age when so many bad things are happening to Christians all over the world – they are basically saying Christians caused this, Mrs. Light told me. “This is just too much.”

I reached out to the superintendent of the school district, but so far he has not returned my messages.

Mrs. Light said the class has been studying Islam since the beginning of the school year. She said the students have also touched on Christianity and Judaism, but the lessons primarily revolve around the Islamic faith.

“It is indoctrination,” she said.

But Mrs. Light does not blame her daughter’s teacher for the Islamic-centric lessons.

“It’s not really the teacher’s fault. This is what they are required to teach. They have no choice,” she told me.

Mrs. Light did the right thing. She got involved in her child’s education. And when she saw something suspicious, she said something – and contacted me.

“The good news is my daughter doesn’t believe this,” she said. “But my problem is – how many kids do believe?

It should come as no surprise that our public schools have been turned into indoctrination centers for dangerous ideologies. I address this topic in my new book, “The Deplorables Guide to Making America Great Again.” The Islamic faith has been given accommodation in public schools while the Christian faith has been marginalized.

I asked Dr. Emir Caner, the president of Truett-McConnell University to examine the lesson and offer his observations as a former Muslim who converted to Christianity.

“Here, Christians are once again blamed for the onset of violence by Muslims in the Holy Land,” Caner told me. “Forget the fact that it was the Muslim community, without provocation, that conquered Jerusalem from the Byzantines just a few years after Mohammed’s death.”

That fact wasn’t mentioned in the assignment….

As much as it is important to understand the historical context in which the crusades evolved as a response to Muslim colonization of Christian lands, I feel it is important to remember the hundreds of Jews who were killed by the Crusaders in the Rhine Valley as they made their way to the Land of Israel. The Jews were seen as the enemy (Christ killers, the devil, etc.) at the time, and the massacres in Speyer, Worms and Mainz were recorded by many of the “memory books” of those Jewish communities. I feel we should not forget these innocent victims when talking about the Crusades.

No one is denying that antisemitism during this period was very ugly, Dov–it was the Middle Ages, and it was a brutal period. There were other bits of nastiness connected with the Crusades, as well, like the rogue sack of Constantinople.

But the constant false idea that the Crusades were ginned up without provocation to conquer peaceful Muslims is just ahistorical claptrap.

I was a postulant of a religious order in the Catholic Church that was founded to randsom people who were kept by the Moslems. These religious would offer them selves as hostages to release the Christian hostages. What is the reason for such a religious order if the Moslems didn’t keep Christians as hostages?

    • gravenimage says

      Dec 23, 2016 at 12:32 am

Yes–these orders are still doing good work ransoming slaves. The real life main character of Dave Eggars’ “What is the What?” was bought and freed and aided in Sudan by one of these orders. He was amazed that anyone cared; at first he assumed he was being sold as a slave to them.

I grew up believing the Crusades were shameful episodes in the history of Christian Europe. Fortunately with the help of brilliant scholars like Robert Spencer I now know the facts and the historical context. At school I was never told about the Battle of Tours in 732 when Charles Martel defeated a Muslim army but I now regard that as the most important battle in the history of Western Civilisation.

Even now, most people will use the Crusades as ammunition against Christianity. Of course this is only effective because most people are ignorant of the Crusades.

What this mom found is concerning additionally because: 1) most parents don’t read their children’s textbooks and worksheets; 2) most schools in the nation use the same textbooks, which are now probably largely determined by Common Core.

Using the Left’s “logic” – the Crusaders were not Christian; they were fanatic hijackers of true Christianity. Therefore, to refer to the Crusades as Christian Crusades is hate-speech.

    • james.mich says

The only way to view this is simple: Islam continues to kill people that are not Muslims all others simply do not go out and kill for the sake of what they believe in: that would be the correct statement in the history books.

  9. Ciudadano says

Protestants, Illustration philosophers, masons, Marxists, etc. have distorted the history of the crusades to use it as ammunition against the Catholic Church, and they have been quite successful at that, at least in popular culture. Crusades were military campaigns necessary to defend Christendom from Islamic invasions. The Battles of Tours, Lepanto and Vienna stopped the Muslim armies from conquering Europe.

Why do you say “so-called Israel”. Israel is an historical fact. Did the Hebrew language suddenly appear out of nowhere? The connection of the Jews to the land of Israel is proven archaeologically, linguistically, and scientifically through DNA studies. Even the Quran recognizes this connection. This proves you are a radical jihadist, and therefore our enemy; you are not a peace-seeking moderate Muslim.

It’s funny, the Jews were there thousands of years before the Muslims and yet these later claim it to be theirs!

I have a lot to say, respond to and refute all the points that Mr. itace muhammed discussed in his comment above, unfortunately my schedule is exceptionally jam packed this couple of days.

I simply say that to you, ibrahim itace- if you’re really and honestly searching for the truth with all your heart, regarding the true nature, teachings, and history of Islam versus those of Christianity, it’s all out there you!

It’s not a game of words or pick and choose as one wishes; go back and study, Islam’s ancient and contemporary history, how it was spread, the Quran, hadiths and sunnah and I 100% guarantee to you that you’ll arrive at the truth.

In addition, as it’s more than likely that you were born and raised up as a Muslim, look at the major and profound role played by conditioning, especially that which is like with fire using high emotional intensity, repetition, pleasure for compliance and intense pain or punishment for non compliance. Add to this mix its timing and duration, the younger the person is when he/she starts to be exposed to this mix and the longer this exposure continue, the harder and iron clad-solid the conditioning, emotions, beliefs become.

This is called the magic mix which turns the unreal into real, imagination into reality and the absurd, deplorable and sometimes outright evil, into normal, acceptable and sometimes holy!

Christians are not filthy, muslims are. Quran is a book from satan and islam is the religion of satan. There is no prophet Isa, onlt Jesus Christ, son of God. We know Allah doesn’t have a son, because he is not God, he is satan. And muhhamad was phyco, mass murderer pedophile, a false prophet. Muslims have no place in Jerusalem, they concurred it and had to be kicked out of there. They would not leave peacefully, so crusaders had to do it in another way.

What crap. What muhammed means is that no Infidel ever had the right to *fight back* against Muslim conquest.

      More:

one (sic) historian described the killing as horrible to the extent that fighters for christ (sic) swimed (sic) in human blood flowing upto (sic) their ankles.those (sic) killed included women and children exactly as described in samuel 15:3 and other verses of the bible.mr (sic) spencer (sic) told us that christians carried out these brutal killings as revenge for series of killing carried by muslims (sic) against christians (sic) for many years.
      ……………………………………………

This is utter rot. This had nothing to do with “revenge”–Christian Europe just wanted Muslims to stop enslaving and murdering Christian pilgrims to the Holy Land.

      More:

but (sic) mr (sic) spencer (sic) or any christian (sic) historian failed to tell us specifically the number of christians (sic) killed by muslims (sic) during these series of jihad wars against christians (sic) and where.
      ……………………………………………

Most of the Middle East, Levant, and Magreb was Christian before being overrun by the Muslim hordes.

      More:

but (sic) the irony is that christian (sic) apologists have been telling us that christians (sic) never fight religious wars.jesus (sic) was peaceful and only call people to god through evangelism and subsequent generations after him followed suit.is (sic) it correct?it (sic) is not.
      ……………………………………………

The Crusades were not wars to force the Muslim population to convert to Christianity, so this manifestly *is* true. We just wanted Muslims to stop attacking us.

      More:

it (sic) true that there is no historical record to show that jesus (sic) fought any religious war during his stay on earth.but (sic) it is there in the new testament where jesus (sic) explicit (sic) stated that he did not come for peace, he came for sword(to fight) (sic) and his followers shall get swords ready to fight.the crusaders relied on this and other biblical verses of genocide to wage series of religious wars against muslims (sic) to drive them out of jerosalem (sic) in the same manner the bible commanded israelite (sic) to fight and erase other races(ethnic (sic) cleansing )from (sic) the so-called land of israel (sic) as in samuel (sic) 15:3 and other verses.
      ……………………………………………

What claptrap. The point Jesus was making was that those who decided to follow him might find themselves in spiritual conflict with family and other loved ones–not that Jesus was slaughtering people.

Muslims’ only frame of reference is the violent warlord Muhammed,

      More:

in (sic) spain (sic) the church issued religious decree that muslims (sic) must convert to filthy christianity (sic) or leave spain(ethnic (sic) cleansing).in default the sword(killings) will be applied;and (sic) it happened in 3 ways:forced (sic) conversion, killings (sic) and deportations.other (sic) christians (sic) took the same stand.
      ……………………………………………

Muslim savages invaded and conquered Spain. As muhammed would have it, no Christian is allowed to fight to defend his land against Muslim depredations; this is what he is saying to Westerners now.

      More:

thus, (sic) where does the assertion of christian apologists stands here that christian (sic) never fight religious wars ,because (sic) jesus (sic) did not do it himself?
      ……………………………………………

Christianity is not a suicide pact–it is not a “religious war” if Christians and other Infidels defend themselves and their loved ones against Muslim invasion.

      More:

note, (sic) as we all know, even according to christian (sic) record, jesus (sic) lived under roman (sic) power, foreign power, throughout (sic) his stay on this earth unlike prophet muhammad.as (sic) such he has no independant (sic) authority to wage religious war, even though he approved it as he stated in the new testament on sword(means (sic) of fighting).
      ……………………………………………

What muhammed means is that the “Prophet” was invited to Medina, drove, out, converted, or slaughtered all the leaders and rival tribes there, and took over. No–Jesus did not do any such thing, He was not a vicious conqueror.

      More:

note, (sic) also that muslims (sic) do not consider jesus(prophet isa)as (sic) rival religious leade r (sic) to prophet muhammad.they (sic) were all brothers in monotheism.
      ……………………………………………

Of course “Isa” was not a rival–as Muslims would have it, he was not the Savior, and was not a healer or a peacemaker–instead, his role in the last days is to *slaughter Christians*.

      More:

muslims (sic) are only saying that christianity (sic) as it is today is not what prophet isa (sic) taught.it is a mixture of what prophet isa (sic) taught and pagan doctrines imported into it that rendered it unacceptable monotheist religion.this is our stand as taught in the quran.take (sic) leave it.the (sic) choice is yours.
      ……………………………………………

Christianity has *nothing* to with what “prophet isa” taught–the vicious “Isa” has *nothing* to do with the Jesus of the Gospels. Muslims like to pretend that Christianity was once as savage and bloody as is Islam–but they are grossly mistaken.

The lying and deciept continues. The idea that the Crusades were an aggressive force is simply put about by Muslims who wish to accuse the Christian of the faults they were guilty of. The crusades were defensive as Christians visiting the holy land were being attacked raped, beheaded and enslaved. ( remind you of anything??!) The Christian had had enough and sent a Police Force andi the time is coming when the Christian will take no more!! The Muslim mind, held back by medieval thoughts and revenge hasn’t moved on in all that time- he is still a base, lying, obnoxious devil who excels in anything ungodly. The lies about the Crusades are easy to spread and they prosper in the ears of the ignorant. Keep your Satanic death Cult. Keep your Allah and all of the devils minions. You want an Islamic world. Who will you behead then? You are convinced you have the truth and yet we see the Sunni and the Shia! Which one of those is the truth? Remember – there is only one truth- not two. God is in charge. https://classroomwatch.wordpress.com/2016/11/11/world-history/

Classroom Watch was set up recently with the intention of providing a resource for parents concerned about what their children are being taught about Islam. We thought there would be a great number of such concerned parents but, after a couple of months of publicising it, there has been precisely zip response. This is surprising to us. There is much attention paid in the counterjihad world to the successful indoctrination of students in Western universities but in our view we should be focussing just as much on the classroom where today’s brainless SJWs and BDS enthusiasts are prepared for what comes next.

mrs/miss gravenimage, you are just an ignorant and confused christian bigot.if you dont know, why assuming monopoly on such delicate religious issue.you are calling isa as vicious.go to christian arab churches in lebanone, jordan, egypt or palestine and call isa vicious and see how they will react.you yourself confirmed that there were christians in arabia before islam.they all refered to jesus as isa.may be you dont know that arabic belong to semetic family languages.eg hebrew, assyrian are similar to arabic.the variations are too small.may be you should have a class on linguistics with specialisation on semetic languages.any way christian arabs have no problem refering to jesus as isa or god as allah.catholic arabs say allah al-abb and isa ibn allah(god the father, jesus the son of god). however, i dont know your basis for saying jesus is not the same thing as isa.may be you are refering to pagan christianity evolved from roman paganism of mithraism at city of nicea in 325 ad decorated with some teachings of prophet isa.if that is the case i can agree with you that our isa you refered to as vicious is quit different from your mithraist jesus.

      Hi there, Ebionite. You wrote:

“mrs/miss gravenimage, you are just an ignorant and confused christian bigot.”

Why do I have the feeling you won’t give a reasoned explanation of those assertions?…

“if you dont know, why assuming monopoly on such delicate religious issue.you are calling isa as vicious.”

That’s exactly what I’d expect someone building a strawman to say. GI made it crystal clear: the “Isa” in islamic texts shares very little with the Jesus in Christian scriptures. Just as one would expect from texts poorly copied and twisted by arab rulers to fit their narrative – muhammad never existed, islam is an invention to try to glue together a series of territory conquered by Arabs.

“go to christian arab churches in lebanone, jordan, egypt or palestine and call isa vicious and see how they will react.”

I suspect that if GI were to walk to a Church in the Middle East and explain how and why the islamic “Isa” differs from the Christian Jesus Christians there would *agree* with her. Tell me, Ebionite, is “Isa”

      a) the son of God?
      b) died in the Cross?
      c) returned to life?

“you yourself confirmed that there were christians in arabia before islam.they all refered to jesus as isa.”

Ah, arguing semantics now, eh? Sand tossing, that’s what it is.

“may be you dont know that arabic belong to semetic family languages.eg hebrew, assyrian are similar to arabic.the variations are too small.may be you should have a class on linguistics with specialisation on semetic languages.any way christian arabs have no problem refering to jesus as isa or god as allah.catholic arabs say allah al-abb and isa ibn allah(god the father, jesus the son of god).”

More arguing semantics – i.e., sand tossing. “Arab Christians call Jesus ‘Isa’. Muslims call Jesus ‘Isa’. Therefore, they’re the one and the same”. Sadly, this reasoning is as high-functioning as one can expect from an islamo-sot…

“however, i dont know your basis for saying jesus is not the same thing as isa.”

Is your “Isa” the Son of God? Did he die on the Cross? Did he resurrect afterwards? Didn’t you claim to have studied the Bible extensively? Why, then, don’t you know something as simple and basic as that?

Why so Mithra-phobic? Wasn’t Mithraism supposedly a for-men-only cult that was ultra-concerned with ritual purity? One might imagine this would appeal to you, in its shades of islam.

ibrahim, itace, while Arab Christians know that their Muslim neighbors call Jesus Isa, they never use the name Isa between themselves or in their worship, contrary to what you’re saying above.

They always use the name “Yasou’a”. Notice that the last letter in his name in Arabic, has no equivalent in English that’s why I used the apostrophe and “a” as an approximation to the pronunciation..

Oh you “people of the book” who continue to believe the oldest fake news of all; religion. Throw out all these ancient lies and embrace the real news and knowledge of Science made possible by Technology and in turn made possible by the human brain at its best.
Only religion can make normally peaceful and intelligent young men and women do the vilest acts as we have seen in Berlin and throughout the World in 2016.
Let us not continue in this way in 2017 and appreciate that life is a lucky privilege given to the minority of planets in our Galaxy. Embrace it and preserve it and refuse to return to the barbarism of previous centuries

‘But Mrs. Light does not blame her daughter’s teacher for the Islamic-centric lessons.

“It’s not really the teacher’s fault. This is what they are required to teach. They have no choice,” she told me.’

Is the “intelligentsia” really not culpable in the propagation of lies and the destruction of the minds and character of their pupils?

    Nonsense.

It is an educators duty to rigorously check and recheck the truth and premise of what is taught. If this is neglected in engineering and medicine, the result is a localized catastrophe. When it is done with the moral and spiritual character of a nation the results are the dystopias of Dar al Islam, Nazi Germany and the Communist Bloc.

Heartily agreed! The teachers should at least feel a moral obligation to study themselves what they are being directed to pass on to students as history/truth. Pressure coming from a union or DoE, forcing them to teach one group’s dictated ideas of history, or dictated views of the future, is a danger signal that teachers can’t ignore. Educators are often the ones seen as earliest dangers to the State, no matter their public stance.

This would be called “revisionist history” or let’s just call it “Fake History” courtesy of Marxist Globalists who are allies of anti-Christian anything–even if it is bona fide, present day, totalitarian, barbaric so-called religion of Islam which has and, continues to commit Christian genocide.

Here are the historical facts jihad/crusades nicely presented by Bill Warner:

Nobody worries or cares about the treatment of Christians, Hindus, Jews and other non-Muslims by Muslims in various parts of the world and this NJ text book worries about the harsh treatment of Muslims by the crusaders!! What about the atrocious treatment by Muslims in their jihadi invasions of other countries? Don’t these people know how Muslims are enslaving and raping Yazidi women in last two years or how Pakistani Muslims kidnap and convert Hindu and Christian girls in their country with impunity almost eveeryday.

The writers of these text books totally deny that if it were not for the crusades, we will all be converted or killed by Muslims. Maybe these writers have death wish in promoting the lies propagated by Muslims.

angemon, the quran answered your query on jesus in suras like baqara, aal imran, maryam and many other verses that jesus is not the son of god or god himself.he who believes that jesus is son of god or god himself has indeed invented lies and atributed same to jesus which he never claimed ;and in the life hereafter he will be among the losers(going to hellfire eternally).again, jesus was never cruxified.allah raised him onto himself and he will descend from heaven to end pagan christianity falsely atributed to him no christian in arabia during the time of prophet muhammad was disputing that isa described in in the quran was different from jesus they called the son of god or god incarnated as he is considered by present day christians.note, the catholic christians of najaran who visited prophet muhammad were roman catholics.the prophet told them that their mode of worship resembled that of prophet isa,but they missed the truth along the line that jesus is not god or son of god. ie they imported docrines that negate monotheism practiced by jesus.yet these christians said they wanted to stick to their belief and the prophet left them alone.they were not saying their jesus was different from isa.

the overwhelming consensus by religious scholars is that JESUS was crucified and buried , therefore muhamhed and the koran are wrong. the isa of the koran is definitely not the one we worship as lord and savior because he called GOD father and muhamhed says allah has no son and muslims are slaves of allah. meanwhile where are all the supposed jews and christians living in arabia that the prophet left alone, did they all disappear along with their descendants ?
more likely they were murdered or sort exile from islamic brutality. muhamed told many lies yet you believe him. pray the true GOD opens ur blinded heart. AMEN

Dr Spencer, is it true that some parties in the Crusades were calling the Muslims “Amalekites” and killing them as per the violence ordered by God in the OT? Some Muslim fellow was alleging this.

I have my own understanding as to why God ordered the killing and the non-marriage to these tribes, but still I’d like to hear from you, or any of you guys in this comment section.

No, I’m not Muslim. I’m anti-Islam. Just seeking more clarification.

One reason I voted “Trump” was because he said he’d do away with common core:
President Obama’s push for “hope and change” translates into completely transforming America — for the worse. Common Core is but one of many parts of an intricate plan to infiltrate every area of American society with Islam. Which is why, Common Core’s origin and funding came from Qatar, Libya and Saudi Arabia.
Globally, Common Core originated from the “One World Education” concept, a global goal orchestrated by the Connect All Schools program. Its origin is funded by the Qatar Foundation International (QFI). The director of QFI’s Research Center for Islamic Legislation and Ethics is Tariq Ramadan, grandson of Muslim Brotherhood founder, Hassan al-Banna.
