Thinking that the Qur’an is political is a thoughtcrime. My latest in PJ Media:
In the nasty little totalitarian state that is Los Angeles, and anywhere else the Leftist intelligentsia reigns supreme), diversity of all sorts is encouraged — except for diversity of thought. And so the idea that a Trump supporter could be co-hosting a radio show is absolutely unacceptable, much less one who makes outrageous statements like … Islam is “political.”
This unbearably offensive, abhorrent statement came from former Brady Bunch actress Susan Olsen, who got into a verbal altercation recently with actor Leon Acord-Whiting after he appeared on LA Talk Radio’s “Two Chicks Talkin’ Politics” show, which Olsen co-hosted. Olsen, according to Acord-Whiting, called him a “homophobic slur,” and LA Talk Radio subsequently fired her.
In the course of complaining about Olsen, Acord-Whiting called her a “Trump fanatic” who had dared to say, among other egregious “right-wing” statements, that “the Koran is a political tract”:
It is always useful to measure the statements of anti-free speech totalitarians against the facts. Is the Qur’an a political tract? Let’s see.
It commands Muslims:
Fight those who believe not in Allah and the Last Day and do not forbid what Allah and His Messenger have forbidden, and do not practice the religion of truth, even if they are of the People of the Book — until they pay the jizya with willing submission and feel themselves subdued.
Is that a political statement? Islamic authorities think so. Pakistani politician and Islamic scholar Maulana Maududi wrote this in his commentary on Qur’an 9:29:
The purpose for which Muslims are required to fight is not, as one might think, to compel the unbelievers into embracing Islam. Rather, its purpose is to put an end to the suzerainty of the unbelievers so that the latter are unable to rule over people. The authority to rule should only be vested in those who follow the True Faith; unbelievers who do not follow this True Faith should live in a state of subordination.
Anybody who becomes convinced of the Truth of Islam may accept the faith of his/her own volition. The unbelievers are required to pay jizyah (poll tax) in return for the security provided to them as the dhimmis (“Protected People”) of an Islamic state. Jizyah symbolizes the submission of the unbelievers to the suzerainty of Islam.
Majid Khadduri was an Iraqi scholar of Islamic law of international renown. In his book War and Peace in the Law of Islam, which was published in 1955 and remains one of the most lucid and illuminating works on the subject, Khadduri says this about jihad:
The state which is regarded as the instrument for universalizing a certain religion must perforce be an ever expanding state. The Islamic state, whose principal function was to put God’s law into practice, sought to establish Islam as the dominant reigning ideology over the entire world. … The jihad was therefore employed as an instrument for both the universalization of religion and the establishment of an imperial world state. (P. 51)
Imran Ahsan Khan Nyazee is assistant professor on the faculty of Shari’ah and Law of the International Islamic University in Islamabad. In his 1994 book The Methodology of Ijtihad, he quotes the twelfth century Maliki jurist Ibn Rushd:
Muslim jurists agreed that the purpose of fighting with the People of the Book … is one of two things: it is either their conversion to Islam or the payment of jizyah. … This leaves no doubt that the primary goal of the Muslim community, in the eyes of its jurists, is to spread the word of Allah through jihad, and the option of poll-tax [jizya] is to be exercised only after subjugation.
A Shafi’i manual of Islamic law — endorsed by the most prestigious institution in Sunni Islam, Al-Azhar University in Cairo — says that the leader of the Muslims:
… makes war upon Jews, Christians, and Zoroastrians … until they become Muslim or else pay the non-Muslim poll tax.
It cites Koran 9:29 in support of this idea:
“Fight those who do not believe in Allah and the Last Day and who forbid not what Allah and His messenger have forbidden –who do not practice the religion of truth, being of those who have been given the Book — until they pay the poll tax out of hand and are humbled.” (‘Umdat al-Salik o9.8)
Sure seems that many Muslims think Islam is political.
Iran’s former President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has said:
Have no doubt … Allah willing, Islam will conquer what? It will conquer all the mountain tops of the world.
Omar Ahmad, co-founder and longtime board chairman of the influential Hamas-linked Muslim Brotherhood front group known as the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), has said:
Islam isn’t in America to be equal to any other faith, but to become dominant. The Koran should be the highest authority in America, and Islam the only accepted religion on earth.
Certainly “extremist” Muslims think Islam is political. Times Square car bomb terrorist Faisal Shahzad declared:
Jihad, holy fighting in Allah’s course, with full force of numbers and weaponry, is given the utmost importance in Islam. … By jihad, Islam is established. … By abandoning jihad, may Allah protect us from that, Islam is destroyed, and Muslims go into inferior position, their honor is lost, their lands are stolen, their rule and authority vanish. Jihad is an obligation and duty in Islam on every Muslim.
And why is Leon Acord-Whiting, a gay man, so intent on defending Islam? If he were living in an area run by Sharia-adherent Muslims, he wouldn’t last long. A hadith says:
The Prophet cursed effeminate men (those men who … assume the manners of women) and those women who assume the manners of men, and he said, “Turn them out of your houses.” The Prophet turned out such-and-such man, and Umar turned out such-and-such woman. (Bukhari 72.774)
Another hadith depicts Muhammad saying:
Whoever is found conducting himself in the manner of the people of Lot, kill the doer and the receiver. (al-Tirmidhi 1:152)

You couldn’t be more accurate. Obviously this guy has never read the Quran, if he had he would be running away from any mention of Islam.

How well ‘the needs and well-being of this country’ have been served by Susan Olsen being driven from the ether.
Hope he’s proud of the service he’s performed, for America.
Let’s see him demand a muslim be fired when he/she expresses their view of his lifestyle.
Angemon says
“The needed & well-being of this country”. F***ing hell, who exactly does he think he is?
Angemon says
“needs”, not “needed” 🙂

Leon Acord-Whiting understands that his number is up in Islam, and by words generated from wishful thinking he imagines, that he can charm the political aspects of Islam into nonexistence and silence its disturbing implications for his kind. But not to mention the war will not make it go away.

Oh, I think this useful idiot is likely in such denial about Islam that he doesn’t consider it to be a threat to him at all.
Wellington says
Both Islam and modern Western liberalism (“Leftism” for the latter if you like, but if you do “like” you will big-time miss the way liberal thought of a half century or so ago has a connection to the ideological plague which is the Leftism of today) are enemies of liberty. No wonder they’re allies, even though it is quite stupid of Leftists to align with Islam, all the while they continue to rail against Trump, Limbaugh, Fox News, blah, blah, blah.
Couldn’t get more stupid. Fitting complement though, these two monstrosities, since with Islam it would be difficult to get more evil and with modern liberalism (Leftism) it would be difficult to become even denser.
Oh yeah, denseness (Leftism) and malevolence (Islam). Perfect together. I loathe both. As someone who esteems and prizes freedom, I would contend I have every right to loathe these two. Indeed, logic, history and facts direct me to do so. And I do so willingly and often times even enthusiastically. Makes my day and all that.

Properly directed loathing is a good thing.

Homosexuals standing in solidarity with Islam/Muslims as Muslims murder Muslim homosexuals is a really, really stupid thing to do.

If this guy wants to be gay, I don’t care. Hope this doesn’t disappoint him. However, he should know that Islam has a high building with his name on it.
Love his hair.

Maybe a trip to some rural Muslim village will help him understand the issue.
Kepha says
This is one reason why I do not think the sexual revolution in any of its forms is a sturdy pillar for the anti-jihad movement. The determination of the LGBTQ lobby to stand with Islam through thick and thin convinces me that there is a deep-seated desire for self-destruction that motivates LGBTQism.
LR says
Kepha,
I think that is an incorrect analysis. Based on my experience so far, most people, whether gay or not, who refuse to hear, or acknowledge anything negative within Islam, are in a state of fearfully thinking that any criticism will turn them into some kind of little Hitler.

Does the word “in” make any sense in the title? (Robert Spencer in PJ Media). Also, I’m more than a bit confused: First the title, and then–did I miss something? Did Olsen call Whiting a denigrating name while interviewing him?
Cecilia Ellis says
Gresham wrote: “Does the word “in” make any sense in the title? (Robert Spencer in PJ Media).”
Yes, Tresha, in the title, the use of the word “in” makes perfect sense. Robert Spencer, the author of the article and the Director of Jihad Watch, is indicating to Jihad Watch readers that he is re-posting his article, which originally was published by PJ Media.
Cecilia Ellis says
Tresha, I apologize for my error with your name. Predictive text changed it from what I accurately typed and I only noticed that change after posting my comment.

OH! Thank you for the education! (oops, I probably should have known that:/ )

Leon couldn’t defend his position, so the “Chick Talking” must be fired? Then the station grants his request! If he is that dumb, why does the station want him on the air? It would seem that Leon has some extracurricular pull at the station.

I thought Olsen got fired mainly for calling Acord-Whiting a homophobic slur — not over the statement that the Qur’an is a political tract. Obviously the Qur’an is a political tract, and Acord-Whiting is an ignoramus for not knowing that — but if Olsen used a homophobic slur against Acord-Whiting, then the station might under some circumstances be justified in dumping Olsen.
PRCS says
Good point.
Johan elzinga says
Thank you for clarifying that. I’m a gay person and I was puzzled about this article. Rest assured that I do not like slurs about gay people but neither do I like the islamist habit of throwing gay people from high buildings. And if someone is gay AND stupid this is a normal fact of life: gay people can be stupid, just like anybody else. However, being stupid about a movement that is out to eradicate gay people while you are gay yourself is, as I think you will all agree, really really stupid. I never asked to be gay, I am born gay, being gay is NOT something that I am able to change. I’m sure nor will you be able to change yourrselves into being gay, I’ m 56, I live in the Netherlands, I’m a hard working college teacher and I have a great partner, we are very happy together. I consider personal happiness and giving to others a very important thing, worth working for. And all this is only possible for me when my safety is guaranteed and people around me accept that I’m gay. For which I’m grateful every day!

This reminds me…
I have a friend, who, if I bring up what is going on in the Muslim dominated world she gets disgusted that I am even mentioning it, cuts me off and ALWAYS brings up how terrible/violent Christians are too, and walks out of the room.
Stick fingers in ears, and sound la, la, la, la, la, la, la. la, la…
I agree with you Eduardo…If the station fired Olsen for using a slur, it’s their prerogative to do so.
The question is…Will Whiting ever be open to learning about, or reading the Qur’an for himself?
Susan Olsen says
Just for the record folks, I’m Susan Olsen. On the night of the show, there was disagreement but Know homophobic slurs were ever made. Disagreement is a good thing on a political radio show. I thought that Leon was a great guest and he even grabbed my hand during the commercial break to gush about how cool it was that he was arguing with Cindy Brady. The show ended with all of us to fist bumping and hugging and taking Selfies.
I was floored when I saw this rant he posted demanding my removal from the station. And I must admit that I lost my cool by sending him a private message where I told him that I have no problem with homosexuals but a big problem with nasty little ***** which is exactly what this man is. I regret that I said that but it was never meant to be public and this little weasel copied and paste did it publicly. I’ve also heard that he hired a PR firm to help him get all of his 15 minutes of fame out of this.
surprised and hurt by the fact that both the station owner and my partner did not defend me,I resigned. I was never fired. In fact I did come back for my other show (Frank Talk) and had a great time discussing things with Larry Elder.
this is what the regressive left do; they pretend to be the victim when they are really the bully!

Thanks for setting things straight. We still watch the Brady Bunch on METV. It means you never have to get any older. 🙂 Or deal with people who really do bully and not just make believe bullies.
