The reason why I mention Pennsylvania is that I have been a life-long resident of said great state and it was the state that put Trump over the top in the Electoral College. Congratulations to Mr. Trump, who has now gotten the imprimatur of our Electoral College, and is officially our President-elect. I like to think our friend Wellington made a difference, since he is a Pennsylvanian. My state of Maryland is such a deep shade of indigo that I doubt my vote made a squat’s worth of difference.
I’m sure that Mirren’s real meaning was that she hopes her own country elects someone who will be a lot more critical toward the jihad, and I share that sentiment, too. On facebook, I got in touch with a distant relative who is British (although of immigrant stock). He was a Brexit supporter, posted a number of the British equivalents of “support our troops”, and also seems highly critical of increased Muslim immigration. He even put up some nice things about Enoch Powell. Surprisingly, he expressed worries about what Mr. Trump’s election would bring, and then I shocked him by pointing out that from so many of the things I’d seen him post, that were he an American, he could well have fit the bill as a Trump supporter.
BTW, I supported Senator Cruz of Texas during the primary season, and I am neither a Texan nor a Latino (as far as I know). But, I[ll give Mr. Trump high marks for reaching out to erstwhile opponents; and having Taiwanese connections, I am glad he took a congratulatory call from Tsai Ing–ven (even though my relatives there are pan-Blue, and don’t think well of her).
Also, I have made it a point to note that when I lived in “Flyover Country” (solidly Trumpista), the “racist Rednecks” there were kindly, neighborly, and decent enough to my not-all-white family; and impressed a French student of North African parentage whom I knew there with their “relaxed” racial relations.
For the past several years, I have been disgusted by the direction that my country and the rest of the West has been going. I hope that the Trump presidency manages to at least forestall our slouching towards Gomorrah and builds on the jihad awareness that probably helped in this election.

This is unfolding like a dream for me. We’ve actually got a president who is alert to the big wave overcoming us. And notice he said “Islamic terrorists” (which is exactly what they are) instead of the self-delusional but comforting fiction Islamic radicals or Radical Islamists or some other misrepresentation. Best of all, he’s been accused of wanting a registry of Moslems, which would be a big step in the long path back to peace and freedom. It’s not a new normal for him, it’s a problem. And a severe one at that. This is how Trump sees the Global Jihad, and that’s all good.

Every American here present who is heartened by what Mr Trump, President-Elect, has just said – especially by his use of two little words – “global jihad” – must communicate with him, *at once*, and say so. Say how pleased you are by an absence of mealy-mouthedness. State that there is indeed a Global Jihad – and it’s been going on, off and on, for the past 1400 years that Islam has been in existence. tell him to stand firm, when and if any FOOLS try to get him to water down what he has said.
The more positive responses he gets to statements like this, the more he knows that he’s riding a wave.
