One might almost get the crazy idea that jihad terrorism had something to do with Islam, were it not for all the learned imams such as Pope Francis and John Kerry who assure us it isn’t so.
“Two Derby terror suspects are ‘strict Muslims who fell out with neighbour for wearing shorts,'” Derby Telegraph, December 19, 2016:
A refugee who says he lives below the home where two Derby men were arrested for alleged terror offences said they were strict Muslims who fell-out with him for wearing shorts.
Haji Ahmadi said he “had the shock of his life” when he discovered his neighbours in Leopold Street had been held in a major anti-terror probe in which six people were arrested – four were from Derby.
Mr Ahmadi has lived on the ground floor of the home for five months and the former Afghan soldier said two of the four city men who have been arrested lived there when he arrived.
He said he had a dispute with them not long after he had moved in. Mr Ahmadi, who returned home on Thursday evening for the first time since the police swoop last Monday, said: “There were two men who lived above the house and they have been arrested and have not come back.
“I had been at a friend’s house when the raids happened and I returned in the morning to be told I could not go anywhere near the home and everywhere was cordoned-off.
“I spoke to the two men a couple of times but they didn’t like me. I am a Muslim but I am quite relaxed. I believe in mixing with people and integrating with society.
“They did not like me though. They said I had to be a strict Muslim. They did not like me wearing my shorts in the summer, even though I didn’t think there was anything wrong with it at all.
“Whenever we did speak, they were always talking about religion.”
He said he believed the men were from Eritrea and Somalia. He added: “Thursday night was the first night that I managed to get back inside my house. It’s been a really strange and surreal situation. I’m still in shock that they have made the arrests and they live just feet away from my front door. It’s crazy.
“It’s not something I expected when I came to the UK. I wanted a quiet and peaceful life.”
Mr Ahmadi fled Afghanistan and came to the UK for a better life.
The flat, which Mr Ahmadi says is controlled by private security company G4S, has a notice board on the ground floor which had a rota for prayers at the Masjid Assalaam Mosque, in Pear Tree Road, Normanton. He said he does not attend it.
Kanan Ibrahim, who is a trustee of the mosque, said the two men could have visited. He said: “It’s possible but I don’t know them. I have been here since 1999 and we do everything we can to stop extremism and radicalisation in the city.
“We have prayers on a Friday and we can get around 600 to 800 people here praying. Our message is one of tolerance. We want to live in peace and harmony – that is what we teach. Every single day, we talk about the importance of being together and living a good positive life.”…
