Trump signs executive order for “extreme vetting” to “keep radical Islamic terrorists out of the USA”

Jan 27, 2017 5:55 pm By Robert Spencer

It is not yet clear whether the signed text is the same, or how it differs, but a published draft of the executive order “Protecting the Nation from Terrorist Attacks by Foreign Nationals” stated:

In order to protect Americans, we must ensure that those admitted to this country do not bear hostile attitudes toward our country and its founding principles. We cannot, and should not, admit into our country those who do not support the U.S. Constitution, or those who would place violent religious edicts over American law. In addition, the United States should not admit those who engage in acts of bigotry and hatred (including “honor” killings, other forms of violence against women, or the persecution of those who practice other religions) or those who would oppress members of one race, one gender, or sexual orientation.

Will officials try to vet for Sharia supremacism and support for honor killings, dhimmitude, and Sharia oppression of women? It will be interesting to see how that will be done.

“Trump Signs Two Executive Orders; Expands Power of Military, ‘Extreme Vetting,’” by Phil McCausland and Courtney Kube, NBC News, January 27, 2017:

President Donald Trump signed two executive orders on Friday that dramatically expand the nation’s military and so-called “extreme vetting” of visa seekers from terror-plagued countries — moves aimed at strengthening the U.S. response to terrorism both home and abroad.

In signing the order, Trump pledged to “keep radical Islamic terrorists out of the United States of America.”

Extreme vetting is an idea that evolved from Trump’s controversial Muslim ban that he called for in Dec. 2015, which would address the refugees entering the country.

“We’ve taken in tens of thousands of people. We know nothing about them,” Trump said in an interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity on Thursday. “They can say they vet them. They didn’t vet them. They have no papers. How can you vet somebody when you don’t know anything about them and you have no papers?”

Though the United States government already utilizes a thorough nine-step vetting system for refugees, the president’s executive order is said to go further. It is unclear what these steps would mean and if it would target any particular religious group as the president stated on the campaign trail….

I can just imagine that part of the “extreme vetting” process:

Are you a “radical” Islamic terrorist?

      No.

      Oh, good.

Are you a regular Islamic terrorist?

      Oh, good.

      Are you…

Back in the bad old days (of B. Hussein Obama) agents/embassy officials etc were not allowed to read/use what people ( who applied for visas, etc) entered in their Face Book or other “social media” pages.

As an example, one of the two (San Bernadino killers) (I think women, but have a 50% chance of being wrong) on her FB was supposed to have written anti-American things.

PERHAPS, had the embassy people seen that and used it, the people killed in San Bernadino would still be alive.

PRCS, I realize whatever process is used is bound to be less than perfect. A least this president is talking about proper vetting, though, which is far more than Obama ever did.

To gravenimage, who writes, “… A least this president is talking about proper vetting,…”

Agreed, Graven. I think, though, that PRCS is referring to the “vetting process” as practiced by the Obama administration. In fact, I believe President Trump is concentrating more on limitation of immigration on a broader scale than just concentrating on the “vetting process” alone.

Although I don’t think I’ve previously commented negatively about a Spencer article here before, I think this one is not particularly well-written and, as a result, is somewhat confusing. As reflected in an earlier comment of mine directly to RS.

          Euphoria’s good…in small doses!)))

Dear graven image, the Obama Muslim minions flew thousands of these “refugees” under the cover of night. There are places in the lower population areas of the USA that are now little ME colonies, that present a danger to all of us.
I read something in this I think others may be missing.. Trump is trying to bring Christians in, with out making it too obvious that this is his objective. There are Christian officials going over there to vet the real Christian refugees, and get them out of Islamic hell.
There are many Christian Iraqi people in my area, and this is their take on it.. These people are the ones that Trump says, “must love our country, our people, and our way of life.” My experience with these Christian refugees is, they speak English, work hard, and are blending into the American culture, and are proud of their faith, and their new homeland.. BTW, and have been warning us for years, watch out for the Muslims, do not trust them… they will kill you the first change they get..

Unfortunately, CAIR is offended and will bring a law suite against the Executive order claiming President Trump is rewriting the law. Of course it is OK for Obama to rewrite laws without CAIR’s over site. Should this happen, Congress should quickly write up an amendment and have President Trump apply the full extent of the law and include the removal of CAIR and all it’s affiliates from this country within 10 days. The commander in chief has the right to defend the American people and he is keeping his word. God Bless President Trump. We have to protect his back too.

Angemon, Back in the bad old days, when Obama was Pres. LONG BEFORE THE PRIMARIES- possibly during Obama’s first disastrous ( for the US) term, Ted Cruz gave an interesting speech.

In the speech, he was critical of Congress ceding power to the President. Needless to say- THAT WAS WHAT MADE THE LAME STREAM MEDIA.

      His next sentences did not.

Sen. Cruz went on to say, that the Democrats and leberturds who were in support of the use of Executive Orders and Executive Powers (including those who said that “Obama was just restoring what the President lost after Pres. Nixon left office—-“) will be unhappy and complaining when A CONSERVATIVE REPUBLICAN, OR EVAN ANY REPUBLICAN DOES THE SAME. AND HAS WHAT OBAMA DID AS A PRECEDENT.

Guess what. Sen Cruz was right.

    Jan 27, 2017 at 6:20 pm

I greatly admire what the new President is doing to keep America safe but I would opine here to the effect that truly complete “extreme vetting” would have to entail a total ban on Muslim immigration. I fully understand that this is not yet politically possible, just as FDR could not bring America into WWII unless we were attacked first (and here the Japanese, in one of the dumbest military actions in all of history, obliged by bombing Pearl Harbor), since Trump must operate within the politically feasible and not the politically theoretical, and which he has done arguably masterfully so far, but the fact of the matter is that every Muslim, just as every Neo-Nazi, Marxist, anarchist, nihilist and such ilk must be looked upon as a potential fifth columnist and thus denied entry to America.

Is Islam this awful? You bet it is and it has brought this upon itself to be sure. As Daniel Greenfield has said, if you have Muslim immigration you will have Muslim terrorism. Doesn’t apply to Hindus, Buddhists, Christians, Jews, Sikhs, agnostics, atheists———–yes, it’s a rather long list respecting whom it does not apply to————but it certainly applies to adherents of the worst religion of all time.

    • dumbledoresarmy says

      Jan 27, 2017 at 6:23 pm

Wellington: write a letter to the President himself and tell him what you’ve just said here. A personal letter, which of course you will sign with your real name. Make sure you include Greenfield’s line – “if you have Muslim immigration, you will have Muslim terrorism” – because it is simply incontrovertible.

ALL American jihadwatchers now have their chance; to get behind the new President and PUSH.

Support him and help him to move, step by step, in the direction you want.

Hi Wellington, I agree with DDA. A personal, handwritten letter to Trump will be a vastly refreshing change in this day and age of the internet. Rather than Trump having to sit down and look at a computer screen, I am sure he would rather like to read a hard copy letter, handwritten and heartfelt about the common sense measures he is implementing. Since you write exceptionally well and know your history, I have no doubt it would be an excellent letter he would enjoy reading.

        efoc,

Yes, handwritten letters get more attention than those created on a computer..

But as many folks–myself included–can’t even read their own chicken scratchings, sending such a document to someone else would truly be an exercise in futility.

A short, to the point letter, crafted with a computer program will also receive attention if it is well written, checked for grammar and spelling, printed out, placed in a nice document protector, and MAILED to the intended recipient.

While Wellington is both knowledgeable and a gifted writer, I don’t believe DDA was suggesting that she, alone, should write a letter to the president.

          Jan 27, 2017 at 10:11 pm

Well, PRCS, I did send an e-mail to the outgoing President about two weeks ago or so and detailed why, in my opinion, and I like to think mine is a relatively informed opinion considering that I taught American history for a third of a century, he has been the worst President in American history. Indeed, I’m somewhat inclined to publish it here at JW.

Oh, one more matter, just for the record and all that, I am a “he” and not a “she” if indeed you meant this as written. I’ve always been a “he” and will die a “he” but, since we live in the Age of Nonsense, I don’t believe this can be said of many in our age, which itself reveals a great deal about the time in which we live, but I digress.

Hope you and yours are doing well. Deuce difficult these days because of all the rot that surrounds us, for instance Islam (which after all is why Jihad Watch exists), Leftists aplenty, and loads of RINOS, beginning here with one John McCain. Yes, it’s a wonder mankind continues to function at all with rubes in bunches among us. Close call at times whether civilization and freedom will survive. And as much as I am disgusted by the Westboro Baptist Church, remember that they have not killed or even harmed anyone, nor have they ever called for violence–moreover, now that leader Fred Phelps has passed away, they seem to be largely defunct. They never numbered more than about seventy-five members, mostly Phelps’ family and in-laws–and they have never been recognized by the Baptist or Southern Baptist Churches.

Dear American KUFFAR, please always remember that as Infidels/ Kuffar/ Non Muslims, you are NOT the only ones targeted for EXTERMINATION by Muslims (Arabs or otherwise) hence it is VITAL that you realize that one does not need more than two brain cells of logic to understand Muslims & Islam in a nutshell~

Since every Muslim is Sharia compliant, every Muslim cannot ever be a Law abiding LOYAL citizen in ANY non Muslim nation because these nations do not submit to Allah’s Sharia.

Hence every Muslim is the enemy of every none Muslim Infidel/ Kafir on planet Earth (80% of current of non Muslim humanity)

Every Muslim is a potential Mass Murderer the instant he/ she decides that he/she is NOT Sharia compliant enough. (Not ALL Muslims are Terrorists but ALL Terrorists against Infidels are MUSLIMS)

Every Muslim is therefore a hair trigger Time Bomb primed to go off

Only in the WARPED imagination of leftists can one find Moderate Militant Radical or Extremist Muslims because in reality Muslims are Muslims just as Nazis are Nazis and no one ever addressed Nazis as Moderate Militant Radical or Extremist

Therefore, because Sharia prohibits them, no Muslim can ever be LOYAL to the laws or the peoples who are Infidels/ Kuffar

All other explanations are superfluous and redundant

It is within current laws that CAIR, ISNA and ALL other Muslim organizations should be declared UN- AMERICAN enemy entities and should be immediately banned because not a single such entity can ever be LOYAL to the USA

It is time for every decent human being to unshackle yourselves from the pre conceived but erroneous notions that ANYONE who is not a Muslim can make PEACE with Islam. All anyone in doubt has to do is READ only chapter 1 to 9 of Muhammad’s Quran

    – who engage in acts of bigotry and hatred

Horrible news about “other forms of violence against women”, Russia is *decriminalising* domestic violence, lobbied by the Orthodox church.

Russia will never be our friend. Russians are no good. However, if they want to go after ISIS with us, fine. Then we go our separate ways after. We can trust them – to always be our enemy outside of a mutually convenient collaboration. Maybe we could even agree to disagree for awhile.

          Jan 28, 2017 at 7:33 am

          Billybob,

I agree often with what you say. But that statement that “Russians are no good”… Let me put it this way, lots or many Russians declare themselves to be Christian. However, the membership and attendance to the Russian Orthodox Church is extremely low – which ought to tell a tale. Note here that it was this church which pushed that through, and this church has an influence which is way out of proportion. And like our (western) churches, i.e., Protestant and Catholic, it seems to be rather accommodating towards Islam.

Further, given that the west/NATO is encircling Russia with military bases, which of course makes perfectly sense from the military’s point of view, results in a siege-mentality of the Russians. Whatever we do in that respect is wrong, but we have to do something. Otherwise it would strategically be a folly, if not irresponsible.

Be that as it may, given the above situation and Trump’s desire to ease the relationship with Russia, could well result in a drastic easing of the siege-mentality, if not eliminating it by and large. That of course would weaken Putin’s hold dramatically. If people feel besieged, or are even at war, they close ranks around the leader, irrespective of whatever faults there are with the leader. Putin plays that card extremely well.

Thus, Trump can actually topple Putin, or, at the very least, weaken his hold on the Russians; by being friendly.

A most interesting development to watch. I wonder what the Likes of Lincoln, Bismarck or Theodore Roosevelt would think about this situation – or opportunity?

DFD – I get your point, and appreciate what you are saying with “If people feel besieged, or are even at war, they close ranks around the leader, irrespective of whatever faults there are with the leader.” It may be a courageous act to take down the siege and reach out to Putin. I also considered that my statement “Russians are no good” was a bit over the top in hindsight.

However, I lived through the Cold War, and that has shaped my view of Russia. I lived a lifetime watching Russian duplicity. My fear is that Russia has ambitions as manifested by their takeover of the Crimea and invasion of the Ukrain. Now I know they have rationalizations for these acts, but those same rationalizations can be applied to all its neighbours. My fear is that as soon as we lift the lid Russia will immediately expand beyond its borders to reestablish a modern version of the former ‘glorious’ Soviet Union. Furthermore, Ex KGB Putin is nothing more than the head of a Mafia. He cannot be trusted.

I hope your point of view is closer to the truth than mine, and that Trump opening up to Russia doesn’t parallel Nixon’s opening up to China without caveats or Obama’s folly in opening up to Iran.

Billybob_ about your statement about President Nixon’s opening to China.

There is a book, (I think the name is RED STAR RISING — if not, similar) bad part- written by an engineer, not a writer, so loads of technical data that makes ones head swim.

However, he knows what he is talking about, had sources and access to documents that had been under seal for decades.

A brief synopsis– LBJ was president. The US had sophisticated spy systems in effect against the USSR. The USSR had a submarine (probably other naval vessels also) in Vladivostok, Siberia.

Brezhnev was the Prime Minister/dictator of the USSR. There was a group that wanted to do a coup against Brezhnev.

There were certain nuclear submarines (Russian) that were mostly obsolete, but the Russians kept a few and sold the rest to China.

The plan was, hijack (if that is the correct word) one of these nuclear submarines, with loyalists ( to the coup planners) and fire a nuclear missile /to Hawaii.

The US would have picked up that it was ( whatever the classification) submarine, which were mostly Chinese, and attack China.

Then, while the US is at war with China, they could do their coup.

To get further proof, the US needed more details. Enter Howard Hughes. (He MIGHT HAVE BEEN eccentric, probably was, but he was a patriot). He built the GLOMAR EXPLORER. SUPPOSEDLY TO SEARCH FOR MAGNESIUM NODULES ON THE FLOOR OF THE SEA. (As a by-product, this led to The International law Of The Sea).

The crew was paid wages of some 2 or 3 times what they should have been paid, to keep quiet. (And other benefits also given).

The Russian submarine was raised (the mutiny was successful, but the people used the wrong code to try and launch the missile, so the submarine basically, destroyed itself). (This was in the North Pacific).

With this in mind (Pres. Nixon was given the information by LBJ; then Nixon took on the case with the Glomar Explorer, etc).

Pres. Nixon then sent Sec Of State Kissinger to China, to explain the situation, and to Moscow to explain the situation. AND AVOID WW3.

Dr. Kissinger is (as far as I know) the only person intimately involved still alive, and he refuses to talk about it.

ANYONE WHO CAN SKIM OVER THE TECHNICAL DETAILS OF THE SHIPS, ETC- FASCINATING BOOK.

          Billybob,

Thanks for your reply and thoughts. Allow me to clarify a bit. I don’t think, nor said, that the siege should be lifted as such. But it should be reduced visibly, and **relatively ** strongly. To elaborate on this and to set the scene, Russia’s economy is just on par with that of Spain! A Venetian General once replied to an interviewer’s question of what it takes to win a war with the following: “First you need money, then more money, then a lot more money. Then victory is practically assured.” This was quoted in Prof. Kennedy’s book: ‘The rise and fall of (great) powers’. Highly recommended, and it appears, Putin has studied it thoroughly.

Now, what the west/NATO, and that means primarily the US, can and IMO should do, is to reduce the ‘forces of encirclement’ to trip-wire forces. Any attack on these results in casualties, thus war. He wont do that. It would however make available vast, financial, resources for the west, again, primarily the US. Maintaining bases over thousands of miles costs, a lot!

Putin is playing to a large extent on the fear of the Russians of invasion, they lost 30 million people to the Wehrmacht… Their fear is real. He also plays on the emotion of “…we lost our empire… blah, blah… {{Let’s make Russia great again [grin!] }}” So he postures. But Russia is no position to fight a war against the west, all it has of note worthiness are nuclear weapons. Never mind all these promo videos about Russian super weapons they release on yutube and similar outlets. The moral, and thus discipline, of the ordinary Russian forces is not very high, except for the women battalions. That means he will probe for weaknesses, test the west’s resolution, but that’s about all he can do.

Given it’s current non-nuclear strength, Russia couldn’t sustain a major conflict for more then two, max four weeks, at best.

Let me put it this way, ignore the nuclear weapons, and Russia couldn’t win a war against the German Bundeswehr – in sorry a state as it is! It doesn’t have the money, it doesn’t have the industry.

The Russian winter? That defeated Napoleon. The Wehrmacht suffered from it, badly, but not decisively. It’s the Russian autumn and spring that’s the problem. Hitler hesitated for too long, instead of listening to his Generals. And again, instead of listening to his Generals, he devised an idiotic strategem – encircling Moscow with a gigantic pincer movement, thus splitting the army! Splitting the army, how much more idiotic can you get? In the US/Texas Generalissimo Santa-Anna was so cocky and contemptuous of the Americans that he split his army, the rest is history. Back to Russia, even with the winter, the Wehrmacht could have still broken through. No kidding. But they were literally stuck in the mud, in autumn and in spring. Tanks sank in to the top of their tracks, and deeper even. Same with trucks, hence the extensive use of horses. Which also sank in.

What went wrong? In a nutshell, German intelligence saw Stalin raising division after division at the then common border between Germany and Russia; Germany occupied about a third of Poland, and Russia the other two thirds. The OKW (Ober Kommando der Wehrmacht / High Command of the Wehrmacht) saw this, understood it correctly and urged Adolf to attack, before they could. Hitler hesitated to the last minute (as in Dunkirk) for reasons known only to himself. When it was simply no longer possible to ignore what Stalin was up to, he gave the orders, a full two months late – and landed the German army in the mud. Couple that with his stupid strategy, against the advice of **every ** General, and the result was a forgone conclusion.

Now get this, even today about 80% of all Russian roads are not real roads, but non-enforced tracks, mud traps in autumn and spring. The Russians don’t have the money to build roads.

Russian manpower, a population of 140 million? Nope. They lost about 30 million people to the Wehrmacht, and Stalin bumped of about 20-40 million. After the war Russians did not have the income, we are back to the import of money, to sustain a population recovery. Insert: Even today there are still many Russian women looking for husbands in the west…. Do the maths. I’d say their real population figure is about 110 to 120 million – of which around 30 million are Muslims. Moscow is Europe’s Muslim capital, without peer. And the Muslims of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, etc.? I don’t think Putin is so stupid wanting to test their loyalty.

And finally, a good chunk of the recent hostilities were engineered by Obama. The notion of a hot war between the west (Christendom) and the Russian east (Christendom) must have been very, very attractive to that Muslim creep. That idea is of course pure speculation on my behalf, but if you think about it.

Well, hope you found this interesting, if you read it that is.

As a USAF Officer and pilot, I have many nuclear missile Officer Friends. They hate the job. The boredom in unbearable, and they live their lives in windowless bunkers, feeling imprisoned.

Anyway, they tell me that with an all out Apocalyptic nuke exchange with Russia, America would win, hands down. We’d lose 30 Million, but the CIS would cease to exist.

Most of their missiles couldn’t leave the silos. Even if they did, their guidance systems are obsolete and useless. And we have very advanced, classified defensive systems, which the Russians have no idea how to match or defeat.

I’ve never seen a Russian nuke silo, but I’ve been to many different Russian Air Force Bases. They were all dilapidated and out of repair. They looked like our bases that have been abandoned for 40 years.

I remember looking all around, always thinking to myself, “Why were we ever afraid of these people?”

          They’re a 3rd World country with a barely 1st World military.

That all said, Putin knows he can’t win a war against us and would be stupid to try.

He’s extended a hand of friendship to my President. My President trusts Putin, and I choose to as well. It beats the hell out of this 75 year pissing match that has broken both of our banks, and gotten us nowhere, except forced us to develop some very advanced weapons systems and put 12 men on the moon. The Cold War is over. I’d much rather be friends with the Russians than adversaries. We both face a determined and dangerous common foe.

This is a new day and age. We only have two choices. I choose to trust them and be friends. We can’t destroy Islam without them. That’s the bottom line.

Sure, we have a lot of differences with them. But so what. We have many differences with the British, our best friends in the World. That doesn’t make us adversaries.

          Dan Triplett,

Hi, essentially we are in agreement. That’s what it boils down to what I said in my two posts above.

The primary problem with us in the west, or rather our leaders, seems to be that they either over – or underestimate the Russians and their abilities. Same about their perceptions of the Russian peoples.

I think Trump is doing the right thing with his approach. Which the AfD advocates since the came into existence.

On the other hand, I’d council a decent amount of caution, i.e., not letting ones guard down. As opposed to threatening behaviour.

          PS: to Dan Triplett,

Indeed, the Russians aren’t too fond of silos. They prefer mobile platforms, even railroad based ones. The logic being that this makes a target that’s harder to pinpoint, whilst simultaneously it allows for dummy/decoy launch mechanisms or arrangements. Again, making targeting the actual launcher more difficult.

“Indeed, the Russians aren’t too fond of silos. They prefer mobile platforms, even railroad based ones. The logic being that this makes a target that’s harder to pinpoint”

Apparently the Russians forgot we have satellites that can read license plates, making the tracking of their mobile rail launchers that much easier to track. Clever idea, were it not for the cameras in Low Earth Orbit.

Bush 41 ended a decades long program where we had an airplane tracking every single Russian nuke-laden submarine anywhere on Earth. At the time, we had an enormous P-3 fleet doing the job. Within the last decade though, it’s been replaced by the very efficient P-8 (737 mod).

But for many many years, we knew the exact location of every Russian sub on the planet, and we could sink it within minutes or seconds. A P-3 would stay on his shadow until relief showed up. They had plenty of depth charges and other ammo that could easily sink the subs. The Navy had P-3 bases all over the globe.

Obviously a very expensive program, necessary at the time though.

Of the Nuclear-Triad, the submarine is the most feared. Ours are essentially untouchable. They can hit our silos and Air Force Bases, but they can’t touch the subs, and they know it, which scares the shit out of them, ensuring the deterrent effect.

As I said, Bush 41 terminated the program, but I’m sure we could resurrect it rather quickly if need be.

As I’m hoping we become friends with the Chinese and Russians, the sub-shadow program would really be necessary most for the N Koreans.

Western reports somehow forget to mention that causing serious injuries will remain a crime.

Yes, difficult. But it still needs to be a law, to prove that the government cares and to help women escape any violent relationship. Same as muslim majority countries should oppose sura 4:34.

“Western reports somehow forget to mention that causing serious injuries will remain a crime.”

I did see that. Sounds like “beat your wife [lightly]” that some quran editors put into sura 4:34. A lot of physical and mental harm is done even without ‘serious injuries’.

No beating is OK. Here is a good quote even from the great Victorian author, Trollope (Can You Forgive Her). Decent people knew even then that men hitting women was not acceptable, though it took the law long enough to catch up:

“But a blow! What woman can bear a blow from a man, and afterwards return to him with love? A wife may have to bear it and to return. And she may return with that sort of love which is a thing of custom. The man is the father of her children, and earns the bread which they eat and which she eats. Habit and the ways of the world require that she should be careful in his interests, and that she should live with him in what amity is possible to them. But as for love,—all that we mean by love when we speak of it and write of it,—a blow given by the defender to the defenceless crushes it all! A woman may forgive deceit, treachery, desertion,—even the preference given to a rival. She may forgive them and forget them; but I do not think that a woman can forget a blow. And as for forgiveness,—it is not the blow that she cannot forgive, but the meanness of spirit that made it possible.”

A “thorough nine-step vetting system” means nothing if a federal questioner slacks off or questions in such a way that the migrant can conclude that he must answer in a certain way to assure entry.
I suppose the questioners speak Arabic, and if so, how sure can we be that the migrant’s responses are factual or barely sufficient to satisfy the questioner?
The fact that these people are encouraged to lie by their own faith, if lies would ease entry and advance Islam.
Due to past experiences with these type people, the process, no matter how worded, is far less than fool-proof.

The thing is though, that if it turns out they were lying after the fact, it should be much easier to deport them. For example, Trump has said the FBI are occupied following a thousand would be jihadis around. These cannot be arrested until they act. Though their intentions are clear, their intentions are not enough to arrest them. Now if it turns out they lied in the vetting process, it should be much easier to arrest and deport them.

It is unclear what these steps would mean and if it would target any particular religious group as the president stated on the campaign trail….”

As a JW subscriber for some ten years now, I regard you as a great American hero and support your work with enthusiasm and the occasional donation.

These are giddy times for Trump supporters, and I am one, but I am holding my breath to see the how the reality of his actions will play out, including unintended consequences important to contemplate.. Trump-related euphoria notwithstanding, and strictly from a journalistic point of view, don’t you think what you wrote, referenced above, to conclude this article more or less takes the mickey out of the whole article?

Is there some way you might share the ACTUAL CONTENT of Trump’s executive order with your faithful readers? I’d feel very much more reassured if I could read the actual language of the order. As it is, I’m not sure what I ought realistically to conclude and/or anticipate as a result of this executive action.

Similarly, Robert, this quote from President Trump himself,

“…They (The USA agencies) can say they vet them. They didn’t vet them. They have no papers. How can you vet somebody when you don’t know anything about them and you have no papers?”
    ————————————————-
Totally understandable, however, the very next sentence is incompatible with what I understand is the point of the article,

“Though the United States government already utilizes a thorough nine-step vetting system for refugees, the president’s executive order is said to go further. ”
    _________________________________________

This is an alarming statement. Sounds like the writer accepts and posits that the US “already utilizes a thorough nine-step vetting system” when it is impossible to vet people who are without any legitimate papers, and you even say so here.

“IS SAID TO”? Said by whom? This is vague and doesn’t reassure me at all.

As relentless and hardworking as I know you are, Robert Spencer, statements such as are made in this article only serve to confuse me, a skeptical reader habitually attentive to detail and consistency of arguments.

I bring this criticism to light only because I want to enhance JW’s reputation for credibility and effectiveness. This article does not contribute much in that regard.

      Hi Quota and others,

May I point to a, given the context, rather funny flaw in the ointment?

Such ban/vetting should also be applicable to Muslim supporters, or Islam enablers and promoters.

      So what’s funny about that?

Well, Trump already let a Muslim supporter and enabler in, who wasted no time holding a public speech in the US, effectively praising Islam, and Trump is going to meet with her and wants to be chummy with her. Ah yes, Theresa May, the leader under whose stewardship of the office of the interior saw the number of sharia courts in the UK more than double! That’s why some people call her ‘Sharia-May’.

That’s the same May who was vehemently anti-Brexit – ’till she got the job as PM. And now she is pro-Brexit, but wants to leave the ultimate decision to Parliament… The same May who was, until she became PM, very friendly with one Angela M. What about Albright and May? Worth checking!

I wonder what your/our esteemed Mr. Robert Spencer thinks about letting such Islam enablers and supporters into the US. As I also wonder what is going on in Trump’s head in reference to May, he recited the well known poem about the snake. Maybe (!) he should look at pictures of her, and hear her when she speaks with Muslim organizations, or even groups, head scarf and the works; no, no Burka, yet. If she continues as she does, she will begin her speeches (to members of the Ummah) with the words “I am a dhimmi, I am a good dhimmi.”

To paraphrase: Beware of the eyes of May…. 🙂

Really? Do you believe all 2.2 Billion of us Christians are brainwashed fuckwits? I’m guessing you’ve never fought in combat for your country. There are no Atheists under fire, fighting against people trying to die for Satan.

There’s an entire universe out there about which we know jack shit. Are you saying you know for certain no God exists anywhere in the universe? How would you know?

And the MILLIONS of people who’ve said they’ve SEEN ghosts are all brainwashed fuckwits too? Sure, some are crazy, but ALL of them?

And the MILLIONS of people who’ve had Near Death Experiences, all coming back to tell the same story; they’re all fuckwits too?

What if there are ghosts, indicating an Afterlife? Wouldn’t it make sense that such a domain has a divine authority; an authority such as GOD?

Do you consider yourself an expert on everything in the Universe?

Look how much we’ve evolved in the last 200 years. Just 525 years ago we thought the World was flat. Imagine what humans will know in another 50,000 years that we don’t know. Don’t you think they’ll look back on us the same way we look back at humans 50,000 years in our past?

We think we’re so smart and know everything, but we don’t.

LIE DETECTOR TESTING on three separate occasions will identify most if not all terrorism supporters. Simply read a complete list of all know Islamic terror organizations and ask the applicant “DO YOU APPROVE OF … ?” The lie detector will expose the person who supports a terrorist organization.

The criteria of the executive decree are good, but can be improved.

If you exclude those who DISCRIMINATE against gays, then you have excluded most Muslims. But when you exclude violence against women, wife-beating and FGM, you virtually exclude all Muslims.

A further draft will be able to exclude practically all Muslims if you word it to include ALL BARBARIC PRACTICES OF MUSLIMS.

    • Terry says

      Jan 28, 2017 at 3:17 pm

Back about 30 years ago, I knew one of the leading FL experts on lie detectors, etc. His view- even a skilled operator can get wrong results. A person is (naturally) nervous or high strong, or having a cold, might send the machine saying the person is lying, when he/she is not. The opposite is also true- a person might be such an accomplished liar, that lying shows as telling the truth.

Perhaps the science has improved since the late 1980’s early 1990’s when I knew the man. I do not know.

But, I would not depend upon them.. (Not to mention, how the question/s are worded; and various external factors).

        Jan 28, 2017 at 4:55 pm

There is a more reliable way of using technology for testing. A person is shown a series of photographs and his bio responses are recorded for each set of pictures or videos he watches.

It has been shown that people will react in certain ways to things they like or that they feel are wrong/bad and are not able to control for any of it as some people can control themselves somewhat with talking for a lie detector.

They could be shown photos of people eating ham sandwiches or women in bathing suits and babies playing with puppies. What normal person can resist a smile when seeing a baby and puppy playing?
Pig farms and other things would elicit responses that would clearly show those who are prone to anger over things not being *their way.*

Then they could be asked about different organizations…mb, boko, etc. and their reactions gauged.

          Thank you.

By the way, I would also react negatively to ham sandwiches or pig farms. (I am allergic to pork products).

However, I have nothing against people who eat them. (And, I am not a terrorist)

        • somehistory says

          Jan 28, 2017 at 9:01 pm

Your negative response to pork products would not be the same as those who aren’t just allergic, but are *offended* by even knowing that others eat it. They would show their anger and *offense.*

I watched a documentary on the (computer) program and it was very interesting. Those doing the research were trying to determine who would be prone to kill.

It’s incredible how many people are twisting the news and hiding the truth about the dangers of admitting Muslims into Judeo-Christian countries. As Trump said, Angela Merkel is responsible for the “disaster” of admitting almost a million in 2015. rump has lots of good ideas.
I wrote to CNN as follows:
Discussion this morning after 9am Swiss time on Trump’s policies about immigration was incredibly ignorant.
As regards illegal immgration from Mexico, well, laws have to be respected. Illegal means against the law. And then, the flow of drugs into the US must be stopped.
As to immigration of Muslims, security comes first. Even if they are vetted, they could become terrorists, as we have seen in Europe. Here they have massacred over 280 innocents last year, and there have been many attacks in the US. Islam commands them to “kill the infidels”, over 100 times in the Koran. It also commands them to islamise the world, which they are doing. They should go to the over 50 Muslim countries. Look at how Germany has been destroyed by the 1 million mostly Muslim imigrants accepted in 2015. They commit rape, they committed 140,000 crimes the first 6 months of 2016.
    Sincerely,

  37. David says

You look at their Facebook page. That says it all.
Of course I’m joking, but I mean to say is that you look for external evidence that they are NOT potential undesirables as defined. If you don’t find clear evidence you don’t let them in. Potential immigrants don’t have any protection under the Constitution. If they appear to be Muslims, they must be considered undesirables until proven otherwise. There could be abundant proof they are being persecuted as apostates, for example. Then you let them in.

First, don’t waste your time with Emails to President Trump. The man has never used Email. Which is strange, considering his Twitter obsession.

But Twitter is the way to reach him. Agreed though, a paper letter would be best.

And for you newbies to Twitter, a few words of advice:

Put him on your “Notification” list, so that when he writes a Tweet, you’re instantly notified. Because 2000 people respond to all his tweets. He will only read the first 10 or so, of course. Have your Tweet pre-written in a draft so it’s ready to go. You want to be the first to respond, so he’ll read it.

Tweets with memes or interesting pics attached always have a better chance of being read.

If you have more than 140 characters to say, write an unlimited length essay on medium.com, then link it to your Tweet. Same company, so they interface quite well.

    Good luck, and get busy.

That’s the cold, hard truth we all must face; especially the President, SECDEF, and SECSTATE.

All we read and watch in the news is against RUSSIA and Putin as the deadliest ENEMIES of the USA

To put it mildly: BULL CRAP

    Dear Americans

I am an Iraqi in exile who does not have an axe to grind with Republicans or Democrats but who has been following and studying these subjects for over 30 years

Not a single main line New Media is telling the TRUTH about Putin and Russia

The Communist Soviet Union was a mortal enemy of the USA; NOT Russia after the COLLAPSE of Communism. Reagan agreed with Gorbachev for obvious reasons of security NOT to encroach upon the borders of Russia.

Obama has been doing just this for the last eight years. Putin ONLY occupied the Crimea and a slither of the eastern part of the Ukraine AFTER the USA and EU helped OVERTHROW the pro Putin prime minister of the Ukraine and replaced him with one pro Obama

The Crimea has been part of Russia since Catherine the Great and became part of the Ukraine at the whim of Premier Nikita Khrushchev (Ukrainian) WITHOUT Politburo agreement. The Crimea also harboured the entirety of the Russian Black Sea fleet. Moreover in both the Crimea and Eastern Ukraine areas have majority Russian nationals.

Russians LOVE Americans and do their utmost to emulate them. Russians are NOT enemies of Americans. Putin is NOT a threat to the USA. DJ Trump and Putin are practical patriotic leaders who KNOW that war between them would be cataclysmic and the only WINNERS would be Muslims and China.

The COMMON enemy of the USA, Russia, China, India, Israel and ALL other non Muslim humanity Infidels/ Kuffar (currently 80% of humanity) are MUSLIMS and Islam.

Since 911, there have been OVER 30,000 terrorist attacks by Muslims against non Muslims (mostly CHRISTIANS) all over the globe

Under Obama’s watch, the most PERSECUTED people on Earth have been CHRISTIANS by Muslims and Obama NEVER uttered a word

Of course not ALL Muslims are Terrorists BUT most assuredly ALL Terrorists against Infidels are MUSLIMS!

Rubio and McCain are literally WAR MONGERING against Russia that should be our ally.

All the garbage about Russia’s hacking deviates from and obfuscates the FACT that these REVELATIONS showed how CORRUPT both the Media and the Democrats (Hillary Clinton) are

DJ Trump would have won anyway because his vision of America was MUSIC to the ears of tens of millions of Americans who have been subjected to DRACONIAN Political Correctness mindless Thought Control for eight years and they have at last a LEADER who is energizing them with HOPE and a Light at the End of the Tunnel

I have absolutely no doubt that the two Christian leaders DJ Trump and Putin will get on extremely well and a new era of excellent relationships will blossom given good will and sagacity

With all of the comments by the media; intelligence agencies; politicians etc about the suppsoed hacking-ONE MAIN POINT HAS NEVER BEEN DISPUTED.

THE EMAILS WERE ACCURATE- AND NOT ALTERED.

AND AS TO INFLUENCING THE OUTCOME OF THE ELECTION:

THERE ARE 3,144 COUNTIES IN THE U.S. (IN LA., THEY ARE CALLED PARISHES)

TRUMP CARRIED A PLURALITY OR MAJORITY IN 3,084 OF THEM. THAT IS -IF MY $1.07 calculator was not malfunctioning, a shade over 98%.

According to a WSJ editor- IF JUST 5 COUNTIES IN THE NYC AND L.A. AREA ARE DISCOUNTED, TRUMP WON THE MAJORITY -POPULAR-VOTE.

RE: McCain (And Lindsay Graham)– a comment I heard last week- they ( and many of the “Neo-Cons”) want a war- because of investments in military suppliers (Military/industrial complex) and/or they (McCain, Graham) get large contributions to their re-election campaigns from these firms.

KNOWING THAT THEIR CHILDREN WILL NTO BE IN HARMS WAY.

AND THE ONES WHO VOLUNTEER, JUST CANNON FODDER.

Back when Bush invaded Iraq, a young Repub/Cons group met in NYC. (pre voting age neo-cons; sons and nephews of the neo-cons and elitists). They were almost to a person in favor of the invasion and war. And almost to a person, WOULD NOT ENLIST- CAN ” BETTER SERVE BY BEING A —— ) ( fill in the blank)

As the old Yiddish expression goes, the slaps on the other person’s ass don’t hurt (me).
