Manchester United have appointed a counter-terrorism manager and believe they are the first Premier League club to do so.
Given lone wolf jihad attacks across Europe, repeated calls for more from the Islamic State, and ongoing warnings of more to come, Manchester United has made a move that will likely serve as an example for other teams. Europe’s immigration policies have made it no longer possible to take freedom and safety for granted.
“Man United ‘first’ to appoint counter-terror chief”, The Guardian, January 18, 2017:
Manchester United have appointed a counter-terrorism manager and believe they are the first Premier League club to do so, it emerged on Wednesday.
The English football giants, who suffered two embarrassing security blunders in recent months, appointed an unnamed former member of the Manchester police and made the announcement at a fans’ forum recently.
Old Trafford is now subject to some of the most stringent security measures on match days with spectators searched at the turnstiles and cars also undergoing checks when they want to enter the car park.
It comes after last May’s Premier League match with Bournemouth saw spectators evacuated from Old Trafford when a suspect package was discovered in a toilet.
The package proved to be harmless and had been placed there — and then forgotten about — by a security firm during a training exercise. The match had to be played at a later date.In another breach two audacious United fans on a tour of Old Trafford last November hid in the loos hoping to be able then to gain access to their game with Arsenal….

Actually, the club is more in need of a player that can net about 15 goals a year. Hiring a security person makes sense. Making such a big deal of it is fatuous and counterproductive. Although, I do admire their understanding that they must take matters involving personal security into their own hands, as the government is unwilling or not competent to do it, or both.
English citizens should be waking up and adopting personal measures designed to take responsibility for their own safety.. Because it is clear their government is absolutely unwilling to do it.

Let’s hope he/she isn’t a Mohammedan …

Only the ‘soccer thugs’ can save Europe now that the islamic horde is upon them…pick axe handles and guns need to be included in every players gear.

Yikes. That is one tough prescription. Not sure it would work now anyhow. Those guys were bad, stood for nothing, and were destroying the game that they had attached themselves to.

FOOTBALL (not soccer) fanatics, if armed, are more likely to run at each other than against islamic hordes, because their zeal comes from the love for their team and hatred for other teams — not hatred for muslims. Outside of the games, they are just regular folks, sticking to the usual PC norms like everyone else. The only difference between football hooligans and regular folks outside of football games is that the former (usually unemployed) procrastinate a lot more than the latter.

It is the ultimate cruelty for US to deny islamics their prayed for destiny…they seek death for their hog shit eating allah…we, all of US, must not continue denying them for the cruelty so displayed can not be forgiven in heaven or on earth.

This event should definitely go in the “Top Ten Signs of the End of Western Civilization.”
Actors and other entertainers always attract human trash to their entourages and claques of enemies, but — soccer teams? The owners should be ashamed to admit they did this. Of course, they should do it, just not draw the attention of the feeble-minded loons who are attracted to terrorism.

Surprised it took so long. I mean, football games must rank high there in the list of targets – thousands of people amassed together to watch the country’s favourite sport.

It has taken a long time since the Munich Olympics for sports to acknowledge the existence of Islam.
