“All further migration from mainly Muslim countries should be stopped.”
This is the statement that most Europeans agree with; not that immigration from Muslim countries should be slowed or given tighter restrictions, but altogether stopped.
The survey was conducted before Trump’s executive order suspending immigration from seven Muslim countries, so that order had nothing to do with the European people’s attitude, but this sure did:
With the exception of Poland, each country was the target of a refugee crisis or terrorist attack in recent years.
Despite this fact, leftists predictably blame the so-called “far right presence” in their countries.
“Survey: Europeans Increasingly Opposed To Muslim Immigration”, by Russ Read, The Daily Caller, February 8, 2017:
A survey of citizens in ten European countries found that more than half of respondents want to stop migration from mainly Muslim countries.
The survey, conducted by the United Kingdom’s Chatham House Royal Institute of International Affairs (RIIA), found an average of 55 percent of the 10,000 Europeans surveyed agreed with the statement: “all further migration from mainly Muslim countries should be stopped.”
A majority of respondents from all but two of the countries (the U.K. and Spain) included in the survey agreed with the statement. The percentages of agreement ranged from a high of 71 percent in Poland to a low of 41 percent in Spain.
Chatham House concluded that the survey results “suggest that public opposition to any further migration from predominantly Muslim states is by no means confined to Trump’s electorate in the U.S. but is fairly widespread.”
The survey was conducted before President Donald Trump’s executive order suspending immigration from seven predominantly Muslim countries.
The think tank also found that the countries which most agreed that Muslim immigration should be stopped had “very different sized Muslim populations.” Additionally, with the exception of Poland, each country was the target of a refugee crisis or terrorist attack in recent years. Most of the states also have a far-right-wing presence in their respective political systems.
A Pew Research Center study conducted in 2016 found a majority of respondents in Hungary, Poland, Italy and Greece had an unfavorable view of Muslims in their respective countries. Only 29 percent of respondents in Germany and France shared that view.
As of 2010, the European Union was home to 13 million Muslim immigrants…..

I really cannot see why anyone should find this at all surprising. It’s exactly the the reaction you’d logically get towards any individual or group that behaved themselves as badly as muslims have. It also explains the whole ‘islamophobia’ and muslim-victim-culture syndrome as a kind of pre-emptive defence mechanism ahead of the expected backlash reaction that is bound to come.
We’ve just seen this sort of thing in action again here in the UK in an incident at the Carnforth Station Heritage Centre where the man who voluntarily looks after the famous ‘Brief Encounter’ clock has just been officially banned from the place after some ‘visitors’ (identity not given!) overheard him in a private conversation discussing the ‘child refugees’ at Calais and saying that they were nothing like the jewish children escaping the Nazis. The ‘visitors’ promptly made a huge fuss with the management and threatened to call the police on the grounds that a hate-crime had been committed!!!! And we know the result, and the gentleman concerned is very, very upset. To the extent that he has told the Carnforth Station Heritage Trust to go and stuff themselves. so now the famous clock is unwound and silent.
Now, we’re not told anything about these ‘visitors’, but we do know (a) quite a lot about the religious/cultural identity of the vast majority of these ‘refugee children (sic)’ in Calais and (b) that Carnforth station is in Lancashire which is also home to many mosques; and a lot of people in the UK are going to put 2 a 2 together and get what they think is 4, which may or may not be unfair on a certain fairly newly-arrived element in the British population. Unfair or not, if people draw a certaIn conclusion about these suspiciously-anonymous ‘visitors’, it would be based on a knowledge of the characteristic behaviour of the group from which people might suspect that these anonymous ‘visitors’ come and how it matches the nasty, hysterical, vindictive, illogical and totally un-British nature of the initial complaint.
This story has gone viral in the UK national press, and now I’m helping it to go viral elsewhere. And it’s going to further reinforce the validity of the findings of this survey. And it’s too late to turn the clock back now – certainly at the Carnforth Station Heritage Centre.
Anne Smith says
The Trust who run the Carnforth Heritage Centre Station have acted appallingly as they have not given the gentleman concerned any chance to refute the story, (which it probably is anyway), call witnesses, challenge the eavesdroppers as to what they heard or be allowed to say anything in his own defence.
Instead the Trust heard these eavesdroppers version of what they claim was said, nothing to do with them anyway, and responded by acting as judge, prosecutor and jury and telling the gentleman he was no longer welcome to work ( which has been on a voluntary basis) at the station.
This total lack of natural justice is becoming accepted in England in a way which would never have happened twenty years ago, or before we were inundated with so many non English people, who have a different view of how things should be run.

Even if Merkel is voted out, it would appear that her likely replacement is worse than she is when it comes to defending Germany. I am at a loss to understand how German citizens opposed to the invasion can possibly stop it, let alone roll it back, at this time. I would appreciate learning how it might be done.

Although all newspapers in Germany say that the SPD with Martin Schulz as candidate for chancelor is rising in the voters´ favor I still hope that all those Germans who don´t want Muslim Immigration vote for the AfD. That would mean that over 50% would vote for the change – and might get borders and re-migration.
Bill says
We here in the USA still suffer with lying, Democrat controlled media. Before the election, the polls were skewed for Hillary. The Democrat propaganda machine (print, broadcast, digital) went all out for Hillary and bashed and lied about Trump incessantly. Obama, himself, encouraged illegal voting and voter fraud. Trump supporters were beaten and attacked by leftist thugs paid for by the DNC and their minion NGOs. Still Trump won. A lot of people just stayed quiet and let their votes do the talking on November 8th.
Trump never had a poll showing him with only 11% of the vote though. That is all I ever read about AfD. Could that many German citizens be quietly waiting to give AfD the lead? That seems like a tall order.
andra says
There are many in Germany who don´t talk about their views of the AfD because far too many people have already been thrown out of their jobs or physivally attacked.
Phil Copson says
Maybe the AFD or some cartoonist could put out a poster showing Schulz in a wig and skirt to get the message across that he is just a male version of Merkel.
They haven’t changed their views or intention – this is just the back-up plan; if the voters won’t vote in sufficient numbers for Merkel any longer, then give them someone else to vote for, and they can find out that all they have got is more of the same when it’s too late.
Lexa456 says
After all, the ratio pro / contra refugee policy is about 50/50. Because you should be realistic, despite the media view. The problem is at the moment unfortunately the tornness of the AFD. Power struggles within the party that hurts their reputation enormously. Moreover, the AFD does not appear to be a uniform image line. Individual party members regularly fall out of the scope (for example, through public statements) and always offer the left-wing press the opportunity to manipulate voters. This is not a good development so close to the election. Because I am sure that much more people than 50% would choose the AFD gladly, but will not make it for moral reasons. There are admittedly some questionable actors in the party whom I would get rid of if I had something to say. However, in Germany urgently needs to change. The current Merkel policy needs a headwind. This is reason enough for me to choose the AFD when it is time.
andra says
The problem with the AfD is not so much their personnell but the press. E.g. the Landesparteitag of the AfD in Lower Saxony. The press said that the party is torn apart. fact is that there were only a handfull of people who wanted to disturb the peace, for what reason ever. The party was 89% behind their first man, Paul Hampel.
The same with Björn Höcke. He´s always critizised in the media for his speeches. In None of his speeches, though, was hatespeech. In one speech he spoke of Germany to have a history of 1000 years, which is true. In another one he differenciated between the European and African reproduction figures by using left terminology. And the latest speech only repeated what famous Germans like Martin Walser or Rudolf Augstein had already said years ago as well as some British architects did. The Problem with the personell is that some of them jump through every left hoop dangled in front of them.

Well, I guess none of our european leaders will care at all about this result. I donn´t know, how the other eu-governments will react, but I know, how the german government reacts.
Merkel just visited her best friend Erdogan in Turkey. Before she went back to GerMONEY she assured the turkish government that Germany will take at least 500 (fivehundred!!) “refugees” per months from Turkey.
This was a very, very, very little note in some german papers – the government kows, that people don´t want more “refugees” – they fly them in, anyway.
davej says
To be fair to European citizens, even tho they were not consulted in advance they gave the Muslim refugees a more than even chance, along with generous benefits. However it quickly became evident that the migrants were mostly hostile, belligerent and ungrateful, with no intent of assimilating.
What was naively allowed can now be disallowed and reversed, albeit only with a great deal more effort and expense than letting them in.
avantibev says
Davej: Why would anyone expect assimilation? The socio-political ideology of Islam is totalitarian and supremacist in nature. It teaches that Muhammad was THE most EXCELLENT of men. Of course they will not want to assimilate to what they consider the filthy kafirs’ inferior culture.

Couple of odd things about this? In 2010 the EU figures showed a muslim population of 10 million plus! Since 2010, I’d swear that figure may have perhaps doubled? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islam_in_Europe
The simple fact is, given the multi-governments of Europe shipping-in muslims at unprecedented rates and numbers, there is more than enough muslims already in situ to ensure they take over the EU by c.2050!!
All this survey shows is it’s too little, too late and we, the people, have to suffer this horrendous scourge which means my grandchildren will inevitably, if not stopped now, live under shariah law!!
Bazza says
Hit the wrong, my figure should show 19 not 10 million!!

The driver murdered during the last tour of the “Truck of Peace” was Polish. You don’t have to host an islamic terror attack to love citizens to it.
Was the poll taken in Catalunia?
And yet, what was the reaction from most European leaders? TO condemn Trump’s executive order.
Imagine that – the countries that had to deal with muslims for a longer period of time and on a larger scale during their history want nothing to do with muslims. Gee, what a coincidence…
Angemon says
“lose citizens”, not “love citizens” 🙂
Steve Klein says
Europeans are increasingly opposed to Muslim immigration even as they increasingly hate Israel and Israel’s Jews. How do we reconcile this dichotomy?

Wonder if any of the the respondents to the polls were moslim?
They, of course, would not be against further invasion.

They should have been tired of this type of crap a long time ago

Anyone with a working brain can see that it makes no sense to import millions of Muslims who will not adopt civilized ways.
Walter Sieruk says
So many Muslims entering into the different nations of Europe is part of the stealth jihad
What is known as the Stealth jihad otherwise called the Muslim method of Islamic Gradualism. In contrast to the way of the violent jihad or also called the militant jihad .This non-violent form of the jihad for Islam is a very sly, insidious, subtle and deceptive way of working for the advancement of Islam.
This Muslim scheme for achieving the goal of the Islamic agenda is as, many times, as subtly effective as it is demonically clever. Furthermore, this Islamic gradualism, in some ways, is very similar to the instruction printed in the book entitled THE ART OF WAR by Sun Tzu. Which reads “At first, then, exhibit the coyness of a maiden, until the enemy gives you an opening; afterwards emulate the rapidity of a running hare, and it will be too late for the enemy to opposes you”

The wind is changing.
To borrow an analogy from an English author who knew all about Europe’s centuries-long struggles in self-defence against annihilatory jihad, and employed many elements from that story when creating an epic fantasy:
The Hobbits – and the Ents – are awakening.
