Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Iranian dissidents demand investigation into Islamic regime’s secret U.S. lobbying network

Feb 21, 2017 7:15 am By Christine Douglass-Williams

A group of nearly 100 prominent Iranian dissidents is demanding that Congress launch investigations into clandestine efforts by the Islamic Republic to influence U.S. policy.

It is no different in Canada. As I wrote in 2012:

Iranian Canadian activists Shadi Paveh and Shabnam Assadollahi have translated an interview with Hamid Mohammadi, an Iranian official working as Cultural Counselor to the Embassy in Canada; as released by Fox News, this alarming article reveals that Iran has been using its embassy in Canada to mobilize loyalists of Islamic Republic to infiltrate the Canadian Government and, some terrorism experts worry, attack the United States.

The interview makes known Iran’s call for all Iranian-Canadians to “resist being melted into the dominant Canadian culture,” to aspire to “occupy high-level key positions…. be of service to our beloved Iran.

Infiltration by Iran into Western nations, as well as infiltration by other Islamic supremacists, is a critical part of the civilizational jihad. A major effort is being made to conquer the House of War from within, while the House of War itself remains largely indifferent to this effort.

“Iranian Dissidents Demand Investigation Into Islamic Regime’s Secret U.S. Lobbying Network,” by Adam Kredo, Washington Free Beacon, February 20, 2017:

A group of nearly 100 prominent Iranian dissidents is demanding that Congress launch investigations into clandestine efforts by the Islamic Republic to influence U.S. policy using a network of lobbyists and propaganda pieces placed in Voice of America’s Persian service, according to a letter sent to leading lawmakers and obtained by the Washington Free Beacon.

The group of dissidents, composed of prominent Iranian voices that oppose the hardline regime in Tehran, says that Congress is not doing enough to expose the Iranian regime’s lobbying efforts in D.C. and propaganda network, which is said to include some at VOA Persia.

Iranian-American groups claiming to represent American interests are said to be carrying water for the Islamic regime inside the White House and on Capitol Hill, according to these dissident voices.

The letter cites VOA’s Persian service as a source of pro-Iran corruption. The Free Beacon has reported multiple times on claims that VOA has been infiltrated by Iran regime loyalists who seek to spin coverage in a favorable way for Tehran. In one instance, an Iranian dissident was barred from appearing on VOA Persia for voicing critical opinions about the regime.

The letter comes at a time when the Trump administration is seeking a tougher approach on Iran for its repeated violations of international accords governing the nuclear deal. The dissidents maintain that U.S. officials have been too soft on the regime and ignored its surreptitious efforts to make American diplomacy more generous to Tehran.

“We write to request a congressional hearing on the efforts of Tehran’s theocratic regime to influence U.S. policy and public diplomacy toward Iran,” the dissidents write to Sen. Bob Corker (R., Tenn.) and Rep. Ed Royce (R., Calif.), the heads of Congress’ foreign affair committees, according to copies of the letter obtained by the Free Beacon.

“We ask that you launch an investigation into any and all lobbying activities of Iranian-American groups, which ostensibly promote the interests of our community but whose real goal is to undermine long-term U.S. national security interests in Iran and its neighborhood,” the dissidents write.

Organizations such as the National Iranian American Council, or NIAC, which played a key role in championing the Iran nuclear agreement and worked closely with the Obama administration, have long operated under a cloud of suspicion. Dissident voices maintain that NIAC in particular serves as a mouthpiece for Iran’s regime in the United States.

The group of dissidents—which includes foreign policy experts, university professors, interfaith leaders, prominent real estate developers, and human rights activists, among others—also requested that Congress shine a light on VOA Persia’s activities.

“We also ask that you launch an inquiry into the Voice of America’s Persian service, whose bloated budget is the largest of all language services under the VOA,” they write…….

Peter Kohanloo, a chief architect of the letter and president of the Iranian American Majority, told the Free Beacon that the missive represents an unprecedented effort by Iranian dissidents to expose the Iranian regime’s “influence-peddling agenda.”

“Never before have so many Iranian dissidents of different political persuasions and backgrounds come together to speak with one unified voice,” Kohanloo told the Free Beacon. “This historic letter is a clear and unmistakable message to Tehran that we will no longer tolerate their influence-peddling agenda, which divides our community and demoralizes pro-democracy activists in Iran.”

The group of dissidents informed lawmakers that they are all willing to testify publicly at congressional hearings on both of these matters.

I hope Congress does so, and follows it up with an investigation into ALL muslim special interest groups.

      Angemon,

Get down from your high horse and understand the real facilitators of the Islamic revolution in Iran. You have to understand the fact that America turned its back on its long time ally, the Shah of Iran and secretly engaged with Khomeini and his associates. For instance, the US representatives told a Khomeini envoy that they were – “..in principle – open to the idea of changing the Iranian constitution..”, effectively abolishing the monarchy. And they gave the ayatollah a key piece of information telling him that the – “..Iranian military leaders were flexible about their political future..” and in effect facilitating the Coup against the Shah. Oh, look, the russian troll decided to keep going after me, feign outrage and bringing up irrelevant subjects. Since you brought it up, the islamic revolution was supposed to be a communist revolution and was backed by the KGB. Khomeini simply outsmarted your fellow citizens and, once he came into power, had your spies and their Iranian collaborators killed. But the lives of your fellow citizens, as well as whether or not their murderers get a proper punishment, are meaningless to you since you want to tar the West at any and every opportunity you have, and if it means to piss on the graves of your fellow citizens, so be it.

Glazov: What role did Moscow and the Iran communist Party (Tudeh) play in the revolution? What was the relationship between Khomeini andMoscow?

Nahavandi: The collapse of a pillar of stability in the East, of its army, its pro-western regime was a golden opportunity for Moscow. It effectively did help, thanks to the role played by the “Tudeh”, the ultra-left – mujahideens etc… who were then manipulated by the K.G.B., by Qaddafi’s Lybia, then close to Moscow and which financed the revolution, by the support Damascus gave the revolution, by the role played by East Germany, etc…

        (…)

Glazov: Who exactly orchestrated the hostage-taking of the personnel of US Embassy in Tehran? What was the real aim?

Nahavandi: The Soviets, without any doubt. There are documents, testimonies to their role which are irrefutable. The objective was to stop a reconciliation between Washington and the Islamic regime that had been negotiated by Dr. Brzezinski in Algiers with Bazargan and Yazdi. That objective was reached. America was plunged into the most serious crisis of its diplomatic history for 444 days. And when the Red Army invaded Afghanistan a few weeks later, the capacity to react of the Carter administration was limited.

BTW, why the knee-jerk tantrum? Is it because I said that all muslim special interest groups, whether they’re Iranians or not, should be looked into? What are you trying to divert attention away from? Yes, your Iranian buddies’ influence in the US politics should be looked into. Of course, the very idea that Iranians have influence in US politics goes against the idea that you’ve tried to pass many, many times – I suspect this is why you’re reacting in such a childish fashion and throwing a tantrum.

Also, are you still living in a Western nation?

You decided to close your eyes to all the facts and be willfully blind, resorting to cheap point scoring nonsense and that is your decision. No matter what you say, facts and are facts and those facts which I pointed out above are that US government helped overthrew the Iranian Shah in favor of Khumenist islamists just as they help overthrew Qaddafi, Mubarak, Saddam and currently trying to overthrow Assad in favor of islamic jihadists. Whether it is Saudi Arabia, the Iranian regime they backed, the muslim brotherhood in Egypt, barbaric jihadists in Iraq, Syria, Libya, Yemen, the Taliban, jihadists in the Balkans and in Kosovo, US governments are always deep inside the ass of islamic jihadists groups and states and even September 11 would not persuade them do otherwise! The US government just gave an award to a Saudi prince for his (get this) anti-jihadist activities!!!! Read it below and enjoy it:

Oh, the projection here! Again: interview with a member of the Sha’s cabinet. Someone who experienced the build-up, revolution and aftermath, and was privy to insider info. Do you have a source as credible as that?

“No matter what you say, facts and are facts and those facts which I pointed out above”

Ah, so you just know more and better than a member of the Sha’s cabinet – someone who, like I said several times and has seemingly yet to go through your thick skull, had first-hand experience and insider info. What do you have to show for yourself? Right, assertions without evidence, just the repeated claim that they are “facts”.

Here are the facts so far: Jamie Glazov, which I assume is not a stranger name for JW regulars, interviewed Houchang Nahavandi, a former Minister of the last Shah of Iran. The interview can be found here:

          http://archive.frontpagemag.com/readArticle.aspx?ARTID=5327

Mr. Nahavandi’s testimony is completely different than your narrative. You claim:

“US government helped overthrew the Iranian Shah in favor of Khumenist islamists”

          Yet, Mr. Nahavandi testified:

Who should I go with on this clash of completely different accounts? The person who experienced the Iranian Revolution first hand, was a part of the Sha’s government, was privy to insider info and is testifying that the Soviets were behind the Iranian Revolution or the person who has a history of lying and spreading anti-Western (and especially anti-US) propaganda trying to blame the Iranian Revolution on the US? Hmmm, not a difficult choice at all.

Oh, and again: are you still living in a Western nation? And why are you not supportive of this petition to investigate Iran’s possible influence on US politics? Is it because you want Iran to have that sort of influence?

As I recall, and I was living at the time, there were demonstrations against the Shah in Tehran. Jimmy Carter, after having earlier told the Shah that he was with him 1000%, convinced the Shah to leave the country “Temporarily” and he could return when things died down. Carter then arranged for Khomeini to return from his exile in Paris to take control of Iran. Since Iran is not Communist, but a Muslim theocracy, I think the facts speak for themselves. It was a very shameful period for the US,

Later, even more shamefully, the Shah, who had developed cancer, was denied entry to the US to be treated at Sloan Kettering in New York. Henry Kissinger intervened and the Shah was treated there, but had to leave the US the minute his treatment was finished. He had been in exile in Panama, but Panama would not take him back, but Sadat of Egypt granted him asylum. He died in exile in Cairo in 1980.

Certainly there should be an investigation into Iran’s lobbying efforts in the US. Obama made a deal which allows Iran the freedom to build nuclear weapons and the results should be made public.

“As I recall, and I was living at the time, there were demonstrations against the Shah in Tehran.”

          Orchestrated by whom?

“Since Iran is not Communist, but a Muslim theocracy, I think the facts speak for themselves.”

They do – Khomeini had the Soviet spies and Iranian communist collaborators shot once they outlive their usefulness. Like I said, Houchang Nahavandi was a member of the Sha’s cabinet at the time, and he testified that the Iranian Revolution, as well as the hostage crisis, had the KGB’s ginger all over it.

“ It was a very shameful period for the US,”

That may be the case, but that’s not the same as saying that the Iranian Revolution was the work of the US government, like CB contends, despite testimony to the contrary coming from an unimpeachable source.

Hi Angemon! I suspect you know the facts but you simply trying to deny them and speak nonsense! Please understand that the KGB and the Soviets have never tried to overthrow the Shah of Iran and they never favored Khumeinist revolutionaries who were based in France at the time. Along with the French and Brits, it was the US who turned their backs on their long time ally the Shah of Iran and secretly opened negotiations with the Khumeinists. US and Western powers wrongly thought they could ally with khumeinists and when the Shiite khumeinist revolutionaries refused to have relations with the US and the West they started demonizing them.

Citation needed. Again: I gave you a Minister of the Sha confirming that the Soviets were behind the Iranian Revolution. What’s the source for your anti-Western propaganda? Oh, right – none. You’re simply trying to defend the Iranian regime while simultaneously defending it. Funny how your reaction to an inquiry onto Iranian influence in Washington was not “hope the Trump administration can root it all out”.

Any kind of support of the tyrannical Islamic regime in power in Iran by any branch of the United States government would be ,if ,true, ,totally and completely wrong and outright unconscionable. For this Islamic tyranny that so inappropriately has the word “Republic” in it’s title For this regime is actually an Islamic dictatorship of the mullahs and ayatollahs who have much power and control and say in the Iranian “parliament.”
Likewise, This Islamic tyranny that has been rightfully nicknamed a “mullah regime” comes down on the human rights of the Iranian people .Therefore ,the people of Iran who are trapped in this brutal, cruel land oppressive Islamic tyrannical regime have to exist in awful fear of the ruling Muslims clerics who have such terrible power in that rogue Islamic state. In conclusion the reality of such a hideous condition of the Iranian people may be summed up by the sentence printed by Benjamin Franklin in the periodical POOR RICHARD’S ALMANACK which teaches “Those who are feared are also hated.”

A lot of times when the prominent people took decisions where we never even knew about that they took them , came out disastrous.
As my country voted in a referendum not to join the EU, the referendum won on our side, but the government just ignored the referendum votes and did it any way.
